Thanks for the reply do you think I could find anything better or similar for £250-300? The guy on eBay just decided he's no longer selling.

I don't see anything really, it's not the best site for browsing laptop specs.

It doesn't have to be on eBay anywhere is fine if you could find something within that price range

Hi I’m using laptop with below spec:

amd e2-6110 quad core 1.5ghz

4gb ram

radeon r2.

would it be sufficient to run the game? I’m only planning to open 5-7 league.

please advise and thank you.

No - the minimum specs require 2.2ghz speed for the processor.

Yours is 1.5ghz - and it's an entry level processor - which would likely struggle with FM.

Not worth it.

This if you're not too bothered about the graphics and 3D mode being on low settings

This would be extremely good too

Smurf, think im going to plump for this one, seems to be the best I can get for my budget. Know of any better? Quite keen on having SSD. How would graphics/3d run on this?

Smurf will be along to answer your question shortly i'm sure,

but be rest assured that will run graphics etc perfectly fine....

Personally I like this one:

Yeah I saw this one! 8th gen processor. Ive got a Samsung 850 evo ssd bought a few years ago that might be able to replace the hdd?

Sounds perfect, I would assume it's a 2.5" ssd so SHOULD be fine, it would depend on what the laptop takes.. sometimes the thickness of the bay etc can be an issue, but nah, usually fine...

Acer one gets good write ups though, especially the performance of the storage combo. Just wonder if the newer processer is worth having over everything else. Rest of spec is similar.

I wouldn't focus too heavily on the storage, won't ever be much of a bottleneck these days..

The cpu is obviously the biggest concern for FM and most cases besides tbh .. and I would happily compromise on other components for a better cpu.. but it's worth you looking at benchmarks and reviews for sure as it's always a personal choice.

Thanks pal will do. On benchmarks the processor outperforms 7300 quite significantly.

Yep,particularly on multi core tasks.. haven't got my hands on the newer cpu yet myself but it looks siginificantly better imo.

I'm still on the fence with this - the 8300H has faster turbo - but 7700HQ has faster base speed. And FM as last reading of this is still largely single core based in processing, except in matches played in the background which are multi-core but so fast having extra cores doesn't make a difference.

I'd still for now go with a processor with a higher base frequency over higher turbo.

Hi all, I am trying to identify a laptop/notebook I saw yesterday. It was an Asus, screen size approximately 13”, the screen detached from the keyboard and had a stand that folded out so it could stand on its own and it was running Windows 10. Any ideas what the model could be? Looked on Amazon and Asus websites but can’t see exactly what I saw.

You can if you have the knowledge. But most people who come here looking for advice on which laptop to part their money with. And they do so because they dont know what specs to look for.

So suggesting to go build it yourself is not very helpful.

Id love a drone. I am going to pay 1600 for a good one. Oh no wait i just realised i can build one for half the price.

YES 1500 for that laptop is pretty impressive. Of course if you have the knowhow you can do it cheaper...of course!!!

Hi Guys,

Looking for a little bit of help if possible - I need a laptop, soley for FM (wont be using it for anything else at all, not even internet)

Can someone (well, Smurf!) offer any assistance? - My budget really is £300, limited I know....

any advice is great

My budget is around £300-400. I only want to play on 2d and maybe some 3d highlights for the goals. I want a laptop to last long and play future FMs. What do you think about this laptop.

Acer aspire 3 A315-21-94CH

AMD A9-9420

8GB ram DDR4

128gb SSD + 1TB HDD

Integrated AMD Radeon R5 graphics

Will a SSD make a huge difference compared to a normal hard drive? And would a 128gb SSD be enough storage?

Should I opt for a quad core processor or will dual core be fine?

Let me know what you think.

Any laptop suggestions would be helpful too thanks.

Smurf?

Minimum I see about for good experience with FM is approx £600.

I wouldn't be comfy offering any other under that.

I won't look on eBay or on any 2nd hand sites or recommend any, as I don't feel it's fair to you the end user to give advice for cheap computers that may or may not work.

AMD Quad-Core A12-9720P

Integrated AMD Radeon R7

1TB HDD

For only the 2d engine could this be a good option?

Let me know what u think.

Would a basic £300 or so laptop not work at all? I would be adverse to running minimal leagues and 2d graphics etc

The amazon model I listed certainly isn't anywhere near suitable..

But something like this: https://www.amazon.com/Transformer-T304UA-DS71T-Touchscreen-illuminated-keyboard/dp/B06Y2Z14CK

Could run fm... it just isn't designed for intensive games like fm that will run the cpu very hot.

I wouldnt recommend any little transformer laptops for fm really, but it depends on your needs really.

I wouldn't be comfortable offering advice on a laptop for that price, it's very rare to find a new laptop, and I rarely find a refurbished one for that price, and I wouldn't recommend a 2nd hand laptop to anyone.

Unfortunately, I don't think it's even worth looking for.

Hi,

when it comes to a processor what’s the difference between say an  intel core I3 or I5 or I7 etc.  In terms of the GHZ speed I’ve seen an I5 that runs at 3000 GHZ compared to an I3 running at 4000 GHZ but costs less that the I5 with 3000 GHz?

Simply put, i7's are better than i5's and i5's are better than i3s.

The i7 is more powerful, because of a few reasons - number of cores, clock speed, size of cache, Turbo Boost and Hyper-Threading.

It's a combination of all these things that make a processor more powerful.

There are extremely good i5 processors which would be good for FM - and extremely poor i7s that would not be suitable for FM.

There's a lot of factors that go into it.

Typically - I aim for the folks here at anything in the i5 or the i7 range - that has the letters HQ after the processor number

But do post here before buying and we can take a look for you.

Hi all, I am looking to return to FM after a few years out. The last time I played was a good 4-5 years ago and therefore worried my laptop may no longer meet the requirements.

Apologies for my lack of technical knowledge but this is the best info I can provide at moment of my laptop:

Samsung Laptop
148GB Storage
2GB RAM
Processor intel R Pentium
Dual CPU T3200. 2.00 ghz
32 bit x 64
OS: Windows 10 Pro

According to FM site, 2GB RAM is a minimum, but after reading earlier comments on this thread it appears the game may struggle on this.

If the other specs are ok I could look into buying a higher RAM card.

Could anyone advise if the game would run ok on the above specs?

Hi smurf what do you think about this laptop on a relatively tight budget?

AMD Quad-Core A12-9720P

Integrated AMD Radeon R7

8GB RAM

1TB HDD

I know it's ideal but for only 2d engine could it do the job?

Also will an ssd make a huge difference in speed?

I think the 2gb of RAM is misleading in the way it's phrased. I'd read that to mean at least 2gb RAM available.

Most Windows computers are 64 bit now, and use roughly 3gb RAM alone. When you add in other processing tasks that could easily be another 3gb RAM used.

That would be 6gb RAM and you'd require 2gb extra to play FM - so roughly 8gb RAM.

On your current specs I wouldn't hold any great hope, not even upgrading the RAM would help much.

The processor is not up to scratch and it's also 2ghz and the min spec for FM is 2.2ghz.

From previous suggestions posted before - best laptop for FM that I can find is roughly £600.

An SSD will not be an improvement for FM. However, overall computer performance would be better. After moving to SSD I would never go back.

What's your budget?

Hi Smurf,

thanks for the info.  In terms of budget I may go upto £2k, Iv got a monitor from my last pc but May upgrade to 28”... do large screens impare the picture quality?

Iv been playing around on a site called overclockers and building desktop but if I’m honest I haven’t got enough knowledge to what components ar better or worse, I’m just looking at high numbers and cost.

is there any point going for an i9?  They are very expensive.

Very little point in going with an i9.

I'd be looking at an i7 with the highest base frequency (that's the GHZ speed when it's at it's lowest).

4 cores is more than enough, as FM is largely single core based. Which means adding more cores isn't really necessary and adds very little to the performance.

So having a faster base frequency with a large cache is better for FM. And having more RAM possibly up to 16gb.

I have never used Overclockers before - but this spec is in your price range and would be great for FM

They used to be. I was in need for a laptop quick as my work laptop screen stopped working, the cable broke and I couldn't get it fixed quickly, so I went to buy one.

Here in Ireland, I went to about 4 different PC Worlds, as all the high end pcs on display were out of stock. It took a very good guy in onen of the stores to go beyond his duty and rummage in the warehouse to find some stock of the high end PCs.

Everyone will have different experiences with PC World - but I got a nice high end laptop and when the manager heard my story of visiting every store in a 50 mile radius, he gave me a  nice store discount, so got it even cheaper than I could get it online.

All in all - yes PC World can be ok.

But for your budget - I'd look at a custom build, like Overclockers or PC Specialist.

And get in touch with them both before committing to buying - as they can do more for you if you get in touch.

If the other specs are ok I could look into buying a higher RAM card.

Could anyone advise if the game would run ok on the above specs?

5-600
