2019/20 NK Rudes Mid-Season Review

Despite the problems with team dynamics and finances off the field, we've managed to have a great half season, well above expectations. For some reason we've not been entered into the cup which is a shame. We had a bit of bad form throughout October and November but we managed to go into the winter break on 4 straight wins. We also managed to grab a win against Dinamo Zagreb .

NK Rudes 2020 Youth Intake

Not too much to get excited about - yet another Englishman in a youth intake and Mikic looks half decent.

Turned down the opportunity to manage the best supported side in Macedonia, I feel like I've got more to achieve here at Rudes.

Yeah the dynamics sometimes go this bad when you've got a low rep, best thing to do IMO is ignore it as much as possible, rather than going against the players. Over time it goes away.

When they complain about "bad atmosphere" I usually reply "well complaining about it won't help it will it" but I think that has more chances of sticking if you've got higher rep and the bad atmosphere is due to genuine underperforming.

Doing great in Croatia though, one of my fav leagues.

Yeah it seems to have got better now, still felt as though I had to get rid of the main culprit though. We've coped on the field without him. Cheers, never managed here before it's definitely an interesting place to manage.

A  very consistent season where we were either 3rd or 4th throughout the whole campaign. Things have finally calmed down team dynamics wise and I have a few supporters now and nobody against me. Best thing was our captain and star man signing a new contract - he was one of the ones opposed to be begin with. £600k for finishing 3rd helped our finances a bit, but we're still over £1m in debt so I've not managed to make any upgrades at all.

I remember at the early release, I signed up with a lower league eastern European club right before the winter break... Low morale like this, went on as usual, 3 months later we came back, had the first game, won 3-0 and next day got sacked because of the players.

Split Loyalties

Come the end of the season I will be embarking on a new adventure with the best supported side in Croatia - Hajduk Split. With no title win since 2005 and currently sitting 5th in the league, I will be hoping to bring back the glory days. However, until the end of the season I will be sticking it out at Rudes...

League Table

We've secured a top 3 finish and we even have an outside chance of winning the league. No matter what happens, this is a great season for Rudes.

European Games

We qualified for the Europa League group stages, sorting out the clubs finances by doing so. We almost bottled it vs Partizan and struggled in our first 4 group games going out with 2 left, but we managed to finish 3rd in our group by winning our final 2 games. A good effort.

Croatian Cup

A gutting penalty loss to my new club Hajduk Split to deny us a place in the final, although I didn't know they'd be my new club at the time.

Remaining Fixtures

An interesting set of fixtures remaining. We should win the first 3, Dinamo could be a title decided and we finish up at home against Hajduk - that could affect the fans' relationship with for both sides, yikes.

Interesting upwards move! Obviously the Dinamo job, if available, would have been unforgivable so this is probably the best job you can get in Croatia...are you concerned of a repeat of the dressing room issues of this season when you move to a more reputable club?

Yeah I definitely didn't want the Dinamo job, or Rijeka. Hajduk are a team that need to be turned around, so it's an interesting project. Hopefully my rep has increased enough for it not to be a huge problem, though I imagine they'll be indifferent at the start.

A quick overview of my last season with Rudes. I've enjoyed my 2 seasons here finishing 3rd and 2nd, putting Rudes on the map in the process.

Congrats on the move to Hajduk! It will give you a chance to develop some great young players that will inevitably come through the intakes. They've currently got the best set of young players on my save, even if traditionally Dinamo's academy produces better players in real life.

Out with the non-yugo's for a tasy amount of cash, in with a youngster from Rudes and 5 former academy products to add depth to the squad.

This is how our first team looks. A mixture of experienced players with some very exciting young talents.
