Junior budget, training facilities, and youth facilities will all be VERY handy for the type of challenge you're doing. That must be a pretty exciting moment in your career now. Just keep on dodging those bullets and don't get relegated, been a bit tight the past 2 years.

It's nice to see some of my plans starting to come to fruition, but now I need to find the time to play the save!

Great news getting the upgrades, things are hopefully looking up now

They are! My only worry now is having enough money at the end of the season for them to commence the work and continue it.

Manager's notes

We didn't have a preseason due to the Europa League first qualifying round, and we were drawn against Hungarian side Ferencvaros. We got off to a dream European start as Plesek opened his account for the season after a pretty pass from Pacholik. Wojnar doubled our advantage, before Ferencvaros grabbed a crucial away goal. Our opponents then grabbed a second away goal, before Sip gave us the lead again on debut and we took a thrilling win to the second leg. That leg began a week later, only three days before the Super Cup! I'd priortised Europe over the shield and left the first XI remaining in situ. We fell 2-0 inside an hour, before Wojnar pulled us back into the tie. Pacholik then squared us up, both in the match and then on away goals, before Ferencvaros levelled the entire tie. A thrilling tie was settled by wantaway Vecera, who having fallen down the pecking order came off the bench to equalise and give us an unassailable lead on away goals and on aggregate. The Czech curtain raiser saw us face Mlada Boleslav and we rotated having to play 3 times in 8 days. We fell behind in the 28th minute, and despite chances to level the game eventually succumbed with a conceded penalty in the 90th minute. A trip to Romania saw us face Dinamo Bucharest, and Pacholik gave us the lead and a crucial away goal after just 7 minutes. A fluke cross got our opponents level, but neither side could find a winner as we came away with a credible draw. We welcomed Dinamo in the return leg a week later looking to hold onto our slim away goal advantage, and we cancelled them out for a 0-0 draw and qualification to the third qualifying round to face Dundee. Our league season began with a trip to Slovan Liberec, and after a dull first half we found ourselves behind in the 50th minute. Wojnar levelled the match up with a penalty, but as time ticked down we were undone and crashed to an opening day defeat. Eager to bounce back, we welcomed Dundee to the Mestsky and took an early lead through Pacholik before we conceded an equaliser on a the stroke of half time. Pacholik gave us the lead again before we conceded yet another late equaliser, but we weren't to be denied and Pacholik won a last minute penalty converted by Petrous who became the youngest ever goalscorer in the process.

Next month

Hopefully carry on the European adventure a little further, and await our first league points.

Manager's notes

League leading Sparta Prague were the opening opponents and Kolar gave us a lead we'd never relinquish. Wojnar doubled our advantage, and despite a last minute goal we had a great 2-1 victory. European football continued with a trip to Dundee for our second leg, and despite falling behind Musil grabbed us an equaliser and the journey continued. League action resumed with a trip to Viktoria Plzen, with Navratil giving us an early lead. We found ourselves level at the break however, and then behind with 15 minutes to go as we stumbled towards a defeat. Petrous had other ideas yet again, and grabbed another last minute goal as we picked up another great point in our early season slate. Viktoria Zizkov came to the Mestsky, and walked away with all three points after an 83rd minute winner. We'd reached the playoff leg of the Europa League, but faced our stiffest test against Swedish champions Malmo. We fell behind in the 12th minute, before Pacholik continued his fine Europa League form with his 5th goal in 7 games to equalise. Malmo took the lead again, before Wojnar found the bottom corner to bring us level again and we took what I felt would be an important advantage back to the Mestsky. Newly promoted Pribram would be our next opponents, and we ground out a 0-0 draw despite chances to win. Needing a draw to make it through to the Europa League group stages, we welcomed Malmo back to the Mestsky. We had a nightmare start and fell behind after 42 seconds, before Petrous got us level from the spot just 5 minutes later. We held on, and booked our place in the group stage with some style. The final game of the month would see us begin the defence of our cup, and we took on Hulin with a scratch team with the game coming just two days after the Malmo match. Vojtisek gave us the opener, and Plesek doubled the advantage. Plesek grabbed a second, and then completed his hat-trick early in the second half. Kounovsky made the most of a rare appearance by grabbing a goal from the penalty spot, before Hulin grabbed a late consolation as we finished the month on a high.

Next month

Prepare to face the mighty Roma and Ajax in the Europa League group stages, and hope that the European competition doesn't impact on our survival chances.

Well done getting to the Europa group, hopefully you'll pick a couple of points up to keep the money ticking over if nothing else. My only worry is the extra games may take it's toll in the league

Yes, I've seen it before with the likes of Jablonec and Sparta Prague, but so far we're doing ok. I just don't want another season of nailbiting drama for the team.

Great stuff.

Cheers bud! Glad to see you're still following along.

Manager's notes

We faced Slovacko in the first league match of September, but found ourselves behind after 11 minutes. Wojnar pulled one back, and the game was seen out with both sides taking an fair point. The group stages of the Europa League opened not with a visit of Ajax or Roma, but Croatian side Rijeka. Koubek gave us the lead 5 minutes before half time, but we were pegged back instantly as we considered our issues from set pieces once again. 2 minutes into the second half and we were behind, but Plesek recalled due to Pacholik being out of form drew us level. Rijeka then got some breathing space, with two goals before Plesek scored again to bring us back within one but that was as close as we got. An early must win against Teplice saw a dull game meander towards a draw until Pacholik came off the bench and grabbed a late winner with his first league goal of the season. We travelled to Opava in the cup 3rd round with a much changed side, and Petr Sadek reminded us of his talents with the opening goal. Our opponents scored from the spot to level it up, but the Sedak got another goal to seal a victory and put us into the fourth round. Mlada Boleslav were the opponents in our next league match before having to travel to Amsterdam, and we found ourselves behind after ten minutes before conceding a second on the stroke of half time. Boleslav then grabbed a third, and consigned us to a first league defeat in a number of games despite late drama with a Pacholik goal and a Vojtisek red card for a two footed lunge. We finished the month with a trip to Amsterdam, looking to gain more experience. We kept our clean sheet for precisely 28 minutes, but only conceded one more in what was a spirited defeat.

Next month

Continue to pick up league points and enjoy our European adventure a little longer

Manager's notes

Rivals Banik Ostrava were the opponents as we opened the month of October, and Petrous opened the scoring from the spot before Banik equalised instantly. Petrous gave us the lead again just ten minutes later, but that lead lasted 240 seconds before we were once again level. Then our rivals put us to the sword with three unanswered goals to leave us on the wrong end of a 5-2 humbling. After the international break we faced Znojmo, hoping to arrest a run of three straight defeats. Unfortunately, we were shorn of Pacholik midway through the first half with what turned out to be an Achilles tendon injury and then conceded the only goal of the game with 15 minutes to go to suffer our fourth consecutive defeat. It didn't get any easier as we travelled to Rome to face the Italians, and with a relegation 6 pointer on the horizon against Brno, I gave some fringe players the chance to impress. Impress they did as we held Roma to just the two goals, and Zacherias saved a penalty, but we played in front of the biggest crowd of our short lifetime. Bottom of the table Brno was the relegation 6 pointer, and we found ourselves level at half time and finished with a dull 0-0 as we struggled to find goals. Our delayed cup tie against Slovacko happened whilst the rest of the league had a week off as we looked to progress, but conceded with 20 minutes to go. Wojnar equalised, but then Slovacko took a crucial advantage into the second leg with a last minute winner. Hradec Kralove were the final match of the month, but with a mounting injury list I didn't hold out much hope. We actually acquitted ourselves well, but succumbed to another defeat as we slid towards the relegation zone.

Next month

We need to find some points in the league, but with Roma and Jablonec up first there's a very tough start to the month.

It would be nice to see a bit more progress in the league this year.

I agree wholeheartedly, but we're in the midst of an injury crisis at the moment, and a game every three days really isn't helping matters. I'm just trying to make it to the winter break with our heads above water to make a real run in the second half of the season.

Great read so far!

Thanks!

Manager's notes

We welcomed Roma to the Mestsky, and waited to bank the gate receipts from the 7,500 people that showed up. On the field we fell behind in the second minute, and were 2 down inside a quarter of an hour and 3 down at halftime. Fortunately Roma took their foot off the gas in the second half, and the scoreline was far from embarrassing in the end. We travelled to Jablonec, but soon wished we hadn't as we were behind after 7 minutes. We slowly succumbed to the best team in the league, and they got the second and match winner with 20 minutes to go as we slid into the relegation zone. We faced a tough game against Slovacko as we tried to defend our cup with 2-1 deficit from the first leg, and after a goalless first half, we fell behind as the slump continued and then conceded a second to put us out. Struggling for form, but about to be able to focus solely on the league, we travelled to Sigma Olomouc. We suffered a 1-0 defeat and slid to the bottom of the table as our lack of goals continued to haunt our efforts to avoid the drop. A winnable Europa League match against Rijeka followed, and we needed something to break us out of a slump, but yet again we failed to find the net and slumped to our 8th successive defeat. The final match of the month would see us take on Slavia Prague, and we kept ploughing on, praying for a much needed result. A 0-0 draw was as good as it got, but it was a much needed point and clean sheet as we waited for our key men to return.

Next month

Finish the first half of the season with two games in December, and the await the winter break to try and find some fitness and some goals.

Manager's notes

Only the two games in December came as a relief, and we faced Sparta Prague, but succumbed to yet anoher 1-0 defeat. Our final game before the winter break would see us welcome Ajax, and the much needed funds. We were behind after just 15 minutes, before conceding two more before half time. We eventually conceded a fourth in the last minute of the game, and a season that had began so promisingly saw us finish the first half significantly richer, but counting that money at a significant cost.

Next month

Rest, regroup and hope that fixture congestion and injuries were the reason for poor form in the early part of the season. Otherwise we're in serious trouble.

Yikes, that's a long time without finding the back of the net.

Yes it is. Pacholik is injured, and Plesek and Vladyka are currently at 14 and 24 games without a goal respectively. And they're just not good at playing anyone else in. We're in the winter break and Pacholik is about to return to fitness, but he'll only have one preseason game before we start again, so who knows what type of impact he'll have?

Tough run there, any plans for some easy friendlies during the break to try and get some confidence back?

Yes, three in fact. And then I hope for a bit of a miracle.

Oh dear, this is looking difficult. Bit disheartening to be through this much trouble after the very optimistic progress of recently. Hopefully it's just the injury crisis and you can grab some points once that's over.

I didn't get to play much over the bank holiday, but despite a strong winter break, things are looking bleak unless we get a couple of first team ready superstars in our youth intake.

Winter Break 2022

FK35Wki.png

Manager's notes

Koubek scored our first goal in forever after 6 minutes of our first Winter Break friendly, and Plesek broke his duck with a second before half time. We took a comfortable win and headed off for our Spanish training camp. Unfortunately, it didn't have the desired effect, and we drew the game 0-0. Our final game of the winter break saw us face Pisek, and the fit again Pacholik returned to lead the line. We didn't need him particularly, as Petrous had us 2 up inside of 4 minutes, before Vojtisek scored a third as we cruised into a first half lead. Pacholik grabbed a fourth on his return, and then added a second just before the hour mark when we subbed out the starters. Sip put the icing on the cake, and we had a much needed confidence boost heading into the second half of the season.

Next month

Pick up points and get ourselves out of our mire.

Manager's notes

We opened the second half of the season, and found ourselves a goal down against Slovan Liberec at half time. Pacholik found a leveller early in the second half, but we couldn't find the winner but came away with a valuable point. We welcomed Viktoria Plzen, but despite an early chance for Koubek, we were 1-0 down after just 8 minutes. Koubek did find the equaliser in the 17th minute, and we were level at half time. Unfortunately, we weren't able to turn it into points, as we conceded a second with 20 minutes to go and stumbled to a disappointing defeat. Our final game of February saw us face Viktoria zizkov, and we conceded yet another first half goal. Plesek came off the bench to equalise, not once, but twice in the last 10 minutes and we took another credible point as we battled those around us to avoid the drop.

Next month

Points are crucial. But wins are what are going to keep us up. Hopefully we'll have a decent player or two in the intake to help us stay up and replace Koubek.

Youth Intake 2022

vRF159M.png

Two first team ready players in Urban and Nespor strengthing us further in the middle of the pitch. A 0-0 against the U19's suggest that the kids coming through are already at the same level as what we've got, and as a result we're able to be a bit more picky with who we keep. Only the top 11 players in this class will be kept, and there will be another hefty cull at the end of the season as players are released after either their youth contracts or first professional contract and haven't quite made the grade. With updates to come, the future continues to look bright for this young team.

Prospects:

1. Jan Bastl

2. Tomas Matusik

3. Jiri Tesar

4. Tomas Urban

5. Ladislav Nespor

Manager's notes

The relegation 6 pointer against Pribram saw Petrous give us the lead five minutes into the second half. We created more chances, but it didn't matter as we secured that priceless win to kickstart our survival bid. We travelled to Slovacko next, feeling good after our first win in a very long time. Wojnar gave us an early second half lead after a dull start, and we kept our composure to record back to back victories. After the international break, we faced Teplice and Pacholik opened the scoring in the first half as we looked to continue our good run. Pacholik then grabbed a second and crucial winner as we had a perfect month and moved out of the relegation zone.

Next month

We have some tough matches, but most importantly face Brno. Win that, and we'll be in really good shape heading into the final month.

The month was never going to be easy - We face (in order) Mlada Boleslav, Znojmo, Banik Ostrava, Brno and Jablonec. 4 of the top 5 and our biggest relegation rivals.

Manager's notes

The run in started with a tough match against championship chasing Mlada Boleslav. Fresh off our 100% month, I was confident but we found ourselves behind halfway through the first half, and despite a lot of pressure we weren't able to equalise. The televised game against Znojmo gave us a chance to put some distance between ourselves and Brno, but a 0-0 draw only just kept us out of the relegation zone. We were 2-0 down inside of 10 minutes against Banik Ostrava, and despite Pacholik pulling one back our rivals dominated the rest of the game and ran out convincing 4-1 winners. We faced relegation rivals Brno in the most important game of the month, and Pacholik gave us an early advantage from a Vecera cross. Vecera continued his fine form by assisting Petrous for our second, and we controlled the rest of the game to clinch an amazing victory. Our final game of April would see us face Jablonec, and we fell behind before Musil brought us level. Jablonec aren't one of the elite teams in the Czech Republic for no reason though, and fresh off their cup win they scored twice more to consign us to defeat, but still just about out of the relegation zone.

Next month

It's the last month, and we face 3 games in 7 days to survive for another season.

Manager's notes

We started the final month with Urban scoring his first goal for the club against Sigma Olomouc, but a second half comeback by our opponents put paid to our hopes of starting the month with a much needed three points. We played very well against Hradec Kralove, but they were chasing Champions League football of their own and the difference was the finishing, as we succumbed to a 1-0 defeat but still with our fate in our hands. We faced Slavia Prague on the final game of the season, and got off to the worst possible start as Vecera gave away a 12th minute penalty which our opponents duly converted. We found ourselves 2-0 down at the half, whilst Brno were a goal behind themselves. Slavia Prague consigned us to defeat 10 minutes into the second half, so all we could do was hope Teplice could hold on. They put Brno to the sword and ran out 4-1 winners, confirming our survival on H2H for the second time in three years.

Next month

Take the fact we survived away, and hope that we end up with enough money for the improvements I've got in place to go ahead.
