enders357
FM14: Tottenham Hotspur - "Sold Elvis and bought The Beatles..." One of the most interesting Premier League clubs to manage in FM14, Tottenham Hotspur start with a young, talented squad, very good finances and a first class training set up. With a new stadium in the offing after a couple of seasons, the potential is there to turn this once great club back in to one of Europe's finest... enders357
Stadium & Facilities Current Stadium – White Hart Lane The Future – New White Hart Lane / "Naming Rights" Stadium In line with real life plans to build a new stadium with a bigger capacity you can expect the club to announce the building of a new 50,000-60,000 all-seater stadium at the end of your first season, for completion in June 2016 Tottenham Hotspur Training Centre The new architecturally designed Tottenham Hotspur Training Centre has been built on 77 acres and is located on Hotspur Way, Enfield. It is the home of the Club's First Team and Academy and is recognised as one of the best in Europe. The state-of-the-art facility - which includes a covered artificial pitch, world-class player preparation areas, pool and hydrotherapy complex, altitude room, large-scale gymnasium and specialist sports rehabilitation suites - will support the Club's ambitions to attract, develop and retain the highest quality talent. enders357
Your Squad Potential first team players out on loan Analysis A good, young squad there's little need to strengthen from the off, though by the end of the first season you'll need to look at a back-up keeper for Lloris (unless you renew Gomes's contract - though his wages are high for a reserve), and will want to find a better left back. Conveniently, Monaco are usually keen on taking Danny Rose for £8-9m. Money can also be generated by the sales of Lennon, Adebayor and Defoe - none of whom are good enough to challenge for regular first team spots. As such, you'll need to find a new striker or two as back-up - and I recommend looking for someone young to develop behind Soldado and take over from him in time. Timo Werner and Aleksander Mitrovic are worth looking at. Squad Management Suggestions Retrain Etienne Capoue as a right back - he can be just as good as Walker Retrain Lewis Holtby to play Left Wing - he can be at least as good, if not better, than Chadli Integrate Tom Carroll in to the first team squad in season two - his calming DLP skills are different to anyone else you have Use Benoit Assou-Ekotto as first choice left back in season two ahead of Danny Rose (unless you can sign someone better) Harry Kane will be sufficiently good enough to be your third choice striker in a lone striker formation

enders357
Tactics Suggestions 4-2-3-1 One of AVB's preferred tactics, this suits the squad well. Full backs should be encouraged forward on the overlap, while a strong, combative midfielder complements a more dynamic presence in the centre of the pitch. On the left you can use Chadli or Townsend as wingers or tuck Sigurddson or Holtby inside (as I have below). 4-3-3 Another tactic being used in real life, this 4-3-3 allows three central midfielders in to the team with one sitting in front of the back four while the other two play as a double-pivot and get up and down the pitch to support at both ends. Emphasis is on the wingers/inside forwards to create chances for themselves and the lone striker. 3-4-2-1 And now for something a bit different! If you're interested in making some changes this could be a good alternative strategy. In all likelihood this tactic would signal the end of Lennon and Townsend's Spurs careers and a left wing back would need to be top of your shopping list. enders357
There's already a Spurs thread? Hi, with Cleon's (a moderator) permission this thread will be taking over from the old Spurs FM14 thread so that proper OPs can be made (as they haven't been in the old thread). I'll be adding those all in within the next 24 hours, but feel free to get posting now!
R1ku
Nice of you to take on the task of the new OP, enders357! Hopefully this thread gets much more discussion than the previous Spurs thread did. I'll copy-paste my last post from the previous thread into this one, as it was posted just before this one was created, to get things going. November 2015 With four wins and a draw at Emirates I guess I shouldn't be too disappointed, but something just isn't clicking. Defence is still not as stable as last season and Agüero and Giovinco are underperforming. Maybe I should be more patient and give them time to gel, as they were purchased only a couple of months ago? And they haven't been horrible even, just going through a bit of a dry spell lately. So to the positives.. I'm still top of the league, five points ahead of Chelsea, after 13 games (10-3-0). I have 33 points, Chelsea has 28, followed by City at 27 and United at 26. Qualified from my UCL group with one group match still to be played, Marseille at home, with them been qualified already, too. So only the top spot to play for in that match, I only need a draw, as I'm ahead by two points. 4.11.2015 Champions League Group G ● Tottenham 2 (Lamela 10, Eriksen 14) Galatasaray 0 7.11.2015 Premier League ● Tottenham 3 (Romero 12, Lamela 26, Mitrovic 77) Cardiff 1 (Carroll 88, Medel s/o 38) 21.11.2015 Premier League ● Liverpool 0 Tottenham 2 (Agüero 36, Dede 79) 24.11.2015 Champions League Group G ● Steaua 2 (Tanase 33, Iancu 88) Tottenham 4 (Benzia 17, 56, 64, Lamela 59) 29.11.2015 Premier League ● Arsenal 0 Tottenham 0 Next up City at WHL in a couple of days. Have only beaten them once in four matches so far, wish me luck..

enders357
How hard on a 0 to 10 scale would you rate a Spurs save? Depends what you're trying to achieve. They can realistically be title contenders within 2-3 seasons as the young squad develops and some key signings are made. There's money, a new stadium on the way - the foundations are there to turn them in to one of Europe's best.

R1ku
R1ku - who's this Benzia guy you've got banging the goals in? Yassine Benzia, from Lyon. He was just injured for 5-6 weeks for sports hernia, which is a bummer, as I'm currently struggling with scoring at the moment, he'd gotten his chance to get more playing time in the Premier League now as well, but what can you do. Drew 0-0 the home match against City, even though dominating the whole match and them having Clichy sent off in the 64th minute. Then drew 1-1 at home to Fulham, with Capoue sent off for the first time, luckily came back to draw 1-1 with 10 men. So three draws on the trot now, not good.. R1ku
Four straight draws with only two goals scored, and both of them from corners by centre-backs. I'm going with two Premier League debutants as AMC and SC for the next match at home against Stoke. This should be interesting. It can't go worse, atleast. I've got a good thing going currently, but I'm willing to experiment with my formation/strategy just to give him those assists :-P Second best performer to Lamela, but by some distance (because Lamela is insanely good!). I tend to play the 4-2-3-1 which I'll be posting in the OP later, using Eriksen as the central attacking midfielder, with AP S duties. I have Holtby or Sigurddson sat just to his left, slightly off centre, and Lamela playing IF on the right wing.
R1ku
Is he your first choice striker? How do you play him? Rotation player, gets maybe a third of the matches. Still young and hasn't progressen like I wanted to, but there's still time and he's still scored a fair amount of goals. Beat Stoke 2-0, but my strikers or midfielders just can't score. Balanta had the first goal from a corner and Dede the second from an in-direct freekick. But a win none the less, which is a good thing for morale. Ive got an online game with a friend, he's Liverpool and im Tottenham, ive started of unbeaten in the first 10 games although ive drawn 4 of them. Signings wise i sold Adebayor to Monaco for £10m. Incomings where Mame Diouf from Hannover for £5.75 & Lucas Romero for £5m. Will do a much more detailed and thorough update when we get to the end of the January window. treble_yell_:-)
How are people using Lamela ? He had a fantastic first season for me, scored 26 goals from out wide, but season 2 he is sitting with an AVR of 6.8 after 27 games with only 8 goals and 6 assists. He just seems to drift on and out of games, over runs the ball all the time or gets caught in possession. At this point Townsend is starting ahead of him. Stewart91
I play him on the right inside forward, prolific scorer. Seems to play better for me with Siggy in the number 10 role. I'm finding Siggy more effective than Holtby and Eriksen.
treble_yell_:-)
IF/a or IF/s ? I'm playing him IF/a with Walker behind him FB/s , he is averaging about a 6.5-6.6 now , just gets the ball and runs into a man. In fact him and Iker Muniaín have been terrible all season in the wide positions Edit : Are corners broken ? I haven't scored directly or indirectly from a corner in a season and a half. Hoarau
I'm oddly having mild success with Siggy up top alongside either Soldado or Diouf as a False9, might just be a fluke run of games.
enders357
Edit : Are corners broken ? I haven't scored directly or indirectly from a corner in a season and a half. kaziks
i wanted to play around with the formations that i normally use and ended up trying a 4-3-1-2 with lloris-walker-kaboul-vert-A.sandro-dembele-pogba-sandro-eriksen-soldado-lamela using attacking, balanced and run at defence, exploit the middle, more direct passing, lower tempo, get stuck in and hassle opponents lloris/Friedel - G/D walker/Naughten - FB/Auto A.Sandro/Rose - FB/Auto Verto/Dawson - CD/D Kaboul/Chiri - CD/D Pogba/Siggy/Chadli - DLP/S Dembele/Paulinho - BBM/S Sando/Capoue - DLP/D Eriksen/Siggy/Chadli - AP/A Soldado/Defoe/Werner - AF/A Lamela/Lambert/Werner - P/A Lambert im finding is great for this formation, i wanted to have the mid three with people that could tackle yet also have good passing ability and im liking the way they move, plenty of space, was a friendly against madrid and even though the midfield was apparntly outnumbered they kept the ball well and caused madrid alot of problems going forward, as i felt that my 2 strikers were moving wide and back to support the attacking play more. Sold - Lennon 14.5 mil to madrid and townsend 9.5mil to monaco, used that money to pick up alex sandro, rickie lambert, paul pogba, and timo werner still cant sell gomes or ade on any of my games yet either which is annoying. Hoarau
This is how ive set up to start the season off, i'm having more success with the 442 but it limits the game time for certain players id to see play. Hoarau
I've actually altered a lot of the set up espically the shouts but I have kept the low tempo option. I wanted my players once they have the ball to play a slower, more prodding game instead of a quick pinball like passing system. Frustrating the opponent into making a mistake then one of the creative lads, be it Eriksen, Lamela or Dembele can slot a ball through a gap. It's defiently a work in progress though.
