Well this was a great month for us as we have hit the cusp of a brilliant last month of the season possibly grabbing not one but a maximum of three trophies, We started with a comfortable win over Leicester, before setting our stall out for a draw in the first leg of the Champions League semi-final at Wenger Stadium, unfortunately we were still in the mind set when we visited Nottingham forest and failed to break them down leaving us with what I consider two points dropped and not one gained, After that we started the run as we easily brushed aside Arsenal in the Second leg before struggling to break down Stoke in the FA Cup but sealing passage to the Final on spot-kicks my first cup final as Sunderland boss! Hull and Spurs were then beaten with ease to send us into the final month of the season sitting top and looking good for the title with the run in we have. We also gave ourselves a great chance in the Champions league as we beat Marsellie at the SoL to give us something to hold onto in France as we look to knock out one of the three remaining French sides. Wish me luck for a epic end of season!

A great start to the month as we managed to get past a very defensive Swansea then set up defensively to take the draw we needed to go to the Champions League final. We then eased past Villa by 5-1 as Lake continues to lead the scoring charts, then we prepared for the big one knowing 4 points from last two would give us the title again, so I thought why not? And went full on attack and in the first half it showed as we stuck 4 past United and it should have been five after Mikhailov missed a penalty. United came back in the second half but the game was already over. Next was Swansea for the FA Cup final and we didn’t play as bad as we have we were exceptionally poor to be honest, we couldn’t take our chances and in a month were we have some big games going all the way to penalites we could have done without but we held our nerve and picked up our first FA Cup trophy in 68 years the last one coming in 1973.

The Defeat to Liverpool was It I thought that’s it we have lost the title as we had to rely on Manchester City dropping points against Swansea two days later and Swansea obliged as they held City a 1-1 draw meaning we sealed our second league title again on small budget, so even more remarkable was the lead we took in the champions league final, even more so when we held on to it.

Pre-Season Update

Eke Taiwo – Aston Villa £4m

28 year old Eke moves to Villa after never really establishing himself as a first choice winger, always behind someone first Agus then behind Benali, so I was VERY surprised when we got Villa to Pay £4m for him I’m still shocked to be honest I’m always optimistic with the first offers so I thought id push my luck. And when Villa offered it I snapped their hand off!

Profit - £3.92m

Adam Lake – Aston Villa £4m

Following Eke is 31 year old Lake, no its not Gavin in case anyone is mixed up. The winger/striker always had a role to play however since the emergence of Mazzotta and the arrival of Fahrenhorst he has seen his opportunities limited, He Leaves after making 125 appearances in six years.

Profit £4m

Andreas Prytz – PSG £10m

After five seasons in the first team he leaves for france for a big fee, last year he was ousted from the first team by Carlos, who will find his position under threat after the arrival of barbarouses he was a solid centre midfielder and proved that for Sweden.

Profit - £7.1m

Ambani Olaba – Roma - £9.25m

Ambani has done well in the four seasons at the club for us, making 77 appearances for us with a average rating of around 7 he moves to Olaba as I decided to blood Kok more into the first team and he’s the casualty so I’m happy with the price I got for him

IN

Aldo Pascale – Inter - £1.6m

The young Italian winger signs for cover of the right flank since the departure of Taiwo, he won’t be first choice but will get chances to aid his development in only his third season in league football I’m sure he will do well when called upon.

Fotis Kalabakas – Schalke - £3.6m

Hopefully will be a bargain buy I have cover at right wing but he’s the most developed of the out and out wingers so can see him being used a fair bit this season has a good first touch and acceleration so will be dangerous

Jimmy Barbarouses – Panathinkos - £16m

Quality Centre Midfielder I’m sure will add some more quality to the centre of the park, can see him making a good partnership in the middle of the park with either Godbold or Carlos for the price paid I have to play him.

The replacement of Olaba is a young centre mid called Mehmet Fatih Kok signed in 2039 for £3.9m but farmed out on loan to Crewe two seasons running, he’s made 64 Appearances for Crewe and will be around the first team this year so wont be returning.

Im posting this so early in the summer as i don't intent to sign anyone else

Loan moves

So after getting Crewe as a feeder club two seasons ago, the first season of the partner ship i sent out,

Elia Mazzei - Then 18 year old the centre back made 17 appearences scoring one goal grabbing a rating of 6.91

Mehmet Fatih Kok - Then 18 also the Center midfielder made 23 appearences scoring four goals setting up three with a rating of 6.84

Gijs Van de Berg - The youngest of the three at 17 he was sent to gain first team football he made 21 Appearences scored 3 goals but set up 7 and got a rating of 7.11

They helped Crewe win the play-offs and get back into the championship

Last season i sent the same three players:

Elia Mazzei - He wasnt as impressive for crewe this year but still solid im putting that down to better opposition. he mad 33 appearences with 2 assists, and a rating of 6.63

Mehmet Fatih Kok - The 19 year old made 41 appearances for crewe as a steady center midfielder he scored 4, set up 4 and got a rating of 6.91

Gijs Van de Berg - The 18 year old left winger continued his development making 43 appearances for Crewe, he scored 3 again but this year set up 20 of Crewe's goals from the left wing. his rating of 7.21 last year has the likes of Man City sniffing.

So all three have been impressive away at Crewe and ill be sending more out this year

Elia Mazzei - Was going to Go but has torn his calf muscle and means he sits out for 5 months.

Mehmet Fatih Kok - Has impressed me so much the past two years the Turkish midfielder joins the senior squad

Gijs Van de Berg - Big year for the dutch winger could be moved to the first team next year if he impresses.

So with one going and i can send four the other three going are:

Janusz Konieczny - the Promising french midfielder I'm hoping gets Koks place in the team

Steffan Greuter - The Promising Winger might not have the pace but the 17 year old centre midfielder definitely has a excellent first touch.

Jose Francisco -The spanish striker impressed in our Under 18s last year as they won their league, and i expect after a couple of seasons on loan he will make the first team i feel

Well Bravo gets his chance in goal as first choice keep Chacon is out with a sprained Ankle the Spaniard was a promising youth who never seemed to develop, probably due to the lack of first team football. The charity shield can only be described as a rout as Bravo did well in goal, and Lake picked up where he left off with a hat-trick. We got the league campaign off to a flyer as we opened with a 2-1 away win it should have been more but we weren’t as clinical in front of goal as we should have been. But we put that right against Swansea, as I handed debuts to Fatih Kok (now nicknamed mehmit) he did really well, Barbarsouses made his debut too even scoring, We rounded the month how we started it, playing Manchester City in a one off final, The day before the super cup saw the draw of the champions league and THIS is the other three sides ive been drawn with:

Dortmund (should win at home probably lose away)

PAOK (should win both)

Valerengra (should win both)

And finally it was time for the Super cup final, I sent out pretty much the same team who beat Swansea with a similar game plan to the charity shield, and City set up more defensivly and after a even 90 we went to extra time, where we took the lead in the first 15 minutes through winger Mazzotta. Before Kalabakas extended the lead to give us the Super Cup. I suppose its something to keep the bog brush in while we go to Japan to play in the world club cup.

So Chacon returned to the starting 11 for us as an even game ended 1-1 with Chelsea this month was always going to be tough looking at the fixtures we Followed it up with a narrow win over Hull we should have had more and if we continue to play like this someone will get an absolute pasting. But it wasn’t Dortmund as we started the Champions League campaign with the hardest game of the group and a trip to Germany but we were solid and held onto a point.

Again we managed to hang on for a solid point as we drew 2-2 with Blackburn, the disappointing part was Blackburn came from behind twice for the point, But Blackburn beat us in the carling cup for the second year running as they dominated us from start to finish. But we got a good result over Forest to claim a vital 3 points to end a difficult month in the top 5.

So we opened the month with a champions League rout over the Greek side who swindle us for Milton Nunez 40 year ago, grudge? Me? Never! Mikhailov lead a master class as he scored a hat-trick. Next up was a trip to the Hawthorns to play Ex-WBA and Bolton player, Paul Robinson’s West Brom. Where we comfortably won we should have scored more and I’m disappointed we conceded but we put in a MUCH better performance at home to Man Utd as the league leaders came to Sunderland United had won 7 from 7 till this match so Lake’s strike just after the hour, helped us claim a priceless victory. And fill us with confidence for tie with the Norwegian champions, only to be unable to put the ball in the net and then give away a sloppy goal and an own goal to only get a point. And it happened again against spurs as an own goal gave them a point, and I’m not happy!

Well ive been saying for a while someone would be on the end of a pasting but I didn’t expect it to be Arsenal, We were outplayed but we took our chances and that put us top of the league, only for us to struggle and they are firing blanks as again we failed to beat the Norwegian champions. But we stuck four past Charlton before conceding two sloppy goals at the end The thing that has annoyed me the most this month is the champions league we dominated Dortmund only to lose, we had the better of the game, so a year after lifting the trophy im on the verge of going out of the competition. We ended the month with a game against the leagues whipping boys, they have 2 points from 12 games, so when they came to the SoL I expected a big win, but we only got two as Cardiff played 11 men on their goal line kinda football.

So a 100% month for us we got the month of to a flyer as we demolished PAOK which sealed us progression in the Champions League, the goals were pretty spread out in Greece but Lake grabbed a Brace as he continues his good scoring record. When we went to struggling Ipswich I was disappointed to see them playing extremely defensive and it took an injury time winner to get us the points. The Liverpool game was the last before the Trip to Japan for the Club world cup and we had the game sewn up win the first half an hour.

And so off to Japan we went for the Club world cup, I rested a lot of players, and it showed as Al-Ahly was the better side in the first half but a bollocking at Half time we went out and played much better and got the win required to get to the final. The final was even worse as we had to come from behind to force extra time before Ittihad forced penalties with a late equalizer themselves, and we won the spot kicks by 5-3 To bring home the trophy.

Back to League action and we comfotablty beat struggling Villa 3-0 on their own turf, Before we despatched Bolton with ease too, undone again by a late goal. But the three points were needed before we finished the month and the year by smashing West Ham in front of 45k Sunderland fans. We have to play Man City and Chelsea this month so its going to be tough to continue our form.

A very odd month for us this was, we started with a solid 2-0 win over mid-table Barnsley (yes I know Barnsley mid-table in the premier league!) goals either side of half time from Mocanu and Lake sealed the points, We followed the game up with a disappointing and complacent performance against Grimsby as we were hit by a giant killing we deserved to lose as we weren’t at the races that day. The next four games I knew would be difficult only for us to get 9 points from 12 with a solid win over Chelsea and Manchester City only to lose by a goal to nil against Hull to lose the lead we had built up now we only sit 2 points clear at the top meaning we still have a lot of work to do. Transfer new is Ajuru has been farmed out on loan to PSG after complaining about his lack of first team opportunities with a future fee of £8.75m. Next month will be a good one for us I hope as the Champions League gets under way again and we take on Blackburn.

So we started the month well against third placed Blackburn we got the win thanks to a good performance from Lake who got a brace, next up was 9th placed Forest who we always seem to have a few issues against, but we stepped up our game and dominated with ease, the three points were well deserved, as Mazzotta is on form this season but I’m selling him in the summer, I’m fed up of him constantly wanting a new contract he signed one in the summer and every few months he wants a new one. That’s it he’s 28 I’m getting rid wonder if I can get upwards of £20m for him. We got back to the league campaign with a home game against WBA, and life without Mazzotta started well as we got three points from WBA, in the time between the WBA and Seville Games Mazzotta (currently sitting in the reserves) agreed a switch to Italian side Bologna for a fee of £22m and as far as im concerned will spend the rest of his Sunderland career in the reserves. And so we get back to continental competition with Sevilla I knew it would be tough when I noticed the won La Liga last year and lead the table again this year, But the way they played on wearside you wouldn’t know it as I got a good first leg lead the trip to Spain will be difficult but I’m confident of progressing.

Table after 31 Games

1st Sunderland 78 Points

2nd Manchester U 76 Points

3rd Blackburn 64 Points

4th Manchester C 63 Points

5th Arsenal 58 Points

So we went into the opening game of the month knowing 3 points would put up so far and away at the top of the table a third title would be within our grasp Only for us to fumble it all, as despite a goal in the first half, we threw it away in the second half. We attempted to put things right against arsenal and it was a 91st minute strike from Mehmet to give us the three points, In the Trip to spain we went down 2-0 after 90 minutes, but in Extra Time we got the goals need to progress to the next round, even if Lake did miss two penalties one in normal time and one in extra time but it’s our name which goes into the Quarter finals hat. Anyway back to Premier league action and a trip to Perryman stadium, which resulted in a lucky win, we should have had been more ruthless in front of goal as a Lake strike got us the three points. And the same happened at home to Charlton as we spurned chance after chance then a late goal got us the three points we need to start scoring our chances. And the final game was a complete turnaround as we lost to a side 18th in the league, it was embarrassing we just couldn’t pass we couldn’t cross we couldn’t shoot I wasn’t even sure the players know who each other are! I’m expecting a BIG difference next month for this run in.

3rd Blackburn 73 Points

4th Arsenal 68 Points

5th Hull 67 Points

I decided to dispense with the short passing game I’ve been getting us to play the last few months blaming that for our inability to score despite dominating and went with a more direct approach. And it seemed to work against Blackburn we let in two goals quickly but we got the winner, the Cardiff game was very odd we played well were a bit shakey at the back hence the two goals but managed to score plenty as Lake single handedly beat the bottom side. As they only have 13 points from 32 games. So we went into the second leg knowing we just needed to avoid defeat to progress. But we comfortably took Blackburn apart to comfortably seal progression to the Semi finals and Roma, but in the league we got another big win this time over Ipswich as Mikhailov got back amongst the goals grabbing a hat-trick. And then we travelled down to Anfield knowing with Man U’s poor run a win would give us the title if United stumble we held our side up but a united win meant we had to wait another week, in between we took on Roma in the Champions League semi only to get completely outplayed, but the win over Villa helped ease the pain as it clinched the league title. We ended the month with the second leg of the champion’s league semi and a lot of work to do when we got the early goal I though the comeback was on only to stay at 1-0 for the full 90 minutes

Sunderland's Fotis Kalabakas however made the Sunderland fans forget the miss by scoring a close range finish which was timed impeccably shortly after.

Media-shy manager Andrew Bell joined Sunderland in July 2030 and has been in charge for 12 years.

Man of the Match: Grant Hogan (West Ham)

Attendance: 35,402

Well we went into the last three games of the season knowing there was nothing to play for so I’ve decided to give the squad players a chance, the defeat to City was expected if I’m honest, as its my ‘B’ team but the fact Bolton were a disappointing side this year and even my reserve side took them apart we went into the last game of the season away at west ham I had a few ideas of what I needed over the summer, I also had bad news for Acidburn as Crewe were relegated on the last day Mazzei was just too big a player for them I think. But the game against West Ham was disappointing but at least it gace the fringe players some game time.

Pre Season Update

IN

Fidel Cogollor – Real Madrid - £5m

Ive overpaid for him I accept that but his talent is what I wanted he wont be a first choice striker but will be first team since the injury to Mocanu in the world cup this year leaves us short with only three fit strikers ive brought a couple in, this guy will be a good first team player in a couple of years.

Manolo Spina – Roma - £1.6m

The young centre back will be in the U18s for a few seasons hopefully will develop enough to be in the first team if not im hoping get a profit on him,

Arsen Dorofeev – Rosenborg - £8m

Scouts say he is a right winger but not in my eyes his crossing is poor ill be using him in the middle of the park, not sure if he will be a mainstay but he will get regular football but I have some quality centre midfielders already

Emanuel Sagarzazu – Feyenoord - £18m

This was a transfer saga I offered £22m at the beginning of the window only for it to be turned down and they request £44m for the Argentinian, Emanuel got unhappy and issued a come and get me plea to me, they got put on the transfer list by request and I bit their arm off at that price, ive signed him to push Lake and Mikhailov as too often I have games where one of them has an off day and no quality scorers on the bench so Cogollor and Emanuel should compliment the current strike force.

Massimo Morbiducci – Fiorentina - £1.2m

The 16 year old keeper is going into the U18s for a couple of year scouts say he will be better than chacon so that’s good enough for me.

Daniel Phillips – Manchester U - £1.1m

Scouts say he will be better than Lake…..at the price im not going to refuse it wont get much of a chance for us at the moment but at only 18 his time will come sending him to crewe for the year instead of Jose who was woeful last year.

Horacio Balbi – Boca - £1.5m

The Argentinian Left winger signs and im hoping to loan him out for the year to someone better than Crewe (sorry Acidburn)

OUT

Hernan Mazzotta – Bologna - £22.5m

After six seasons at the club it annoyed me too much constantly asking for a new contract annoyed me so much I decided to get shot ive got a couple of quality left wingers coming through so im happy to let him go. 148 appearences with 24 goals from the left wing is ok I suppose

Augustine Ajuru – Juventus - £6.5m

When he joined four seasons ago he was a first team player but the emergence of Hasse, Verlinden and Gomes meant his game time was limited, so ive agreed to let him to go to Italy.
