I wouldn't bet on it. icon_smile.gif

But it's interesting to see what happens.

The stadium is set to 140000 capacity with an expansion capacity of 250000.

But I think the position of the club is taken into account - because of where the Bandits are the size of the fanbase won't be increasing.

The capacity crowds come in at the playoff stage, but during the regular season the attendances are around 80000.

Still not shabby, mind, but not worth investing in.

As there's no questions I'll crack on with season 15 icon_smile.gif

Oh, and in answer to the questions - I'll upload the database when the experiment is complete.

If I uploaded it earlier, you'd be able to run the experiment on super speed and make more educated predictions, I like the scenario of predicting based upon real life rather than what happened in your version.

It'll come though.

This explains why the board won't increase the stadium, they know they've already maxed out the fan base.

Yawn.

What an incredibly dull season. They secured their place in the division early on, sat in mid table for the whole time, and never seriously challenged for a play-off berth. They actually only got one point fewer than last season but it was never going to be enough.

In the cups, it was an awful story – out in the first round they played in each of the three competitions.

In truth, it was a poor season, but their transfer dealings aren’t helping, we’ll discuss that later. If they don’t improve, it’ll be mid-table mediocrity like this until the two star strikers get old and retire, then they’ll struggle.

Notes: Continues to search for his first international goal, with none in 61 caps now, but at club level is superb in saving Liverpool’s season. A win on the last day saves them from relegation, and then he takes an FA Cup medal from an otherwise poor club season. World Player of the Year.

Notes: Follows up last season’s stunning performances with another season almost as good. His international tally rockets to a remarkable 107 caps with two goals, in a star studded career. He picks up the UEFA Cup this season and has had one of the most successful Bandits careers. To add to the good vibes, his CA even re-rises by five points. European Defender of the Year and World Footballer of the Year.

Notes: Has another impressive season, so cannot be blamed for Man Utd’s awful time, which sees them relegated from the Premiership for the second time, having sat in the drop zone all season. Reaches 57 caps with thirteen goals, and CA rises again, but starts rejecting contracts from his club as soon as they are relegated, citing the length of deal as the problem. Notes: Isn’t really a big contributor to Chelsea’s leap back to the summit of the English game, but is a solid performer nonetheless. Reaches 75 caps with five goals in an international career that is now slowing down. His Premiership medal should be savoured as time is now against him and all the others.

Notes: Still plays okay, but doesn’t really help the team get out of the mire, as Man Utd slip meekly back to the Championship. Reaches 89 caps with five goals, but after relegation refuses to sign a new contract, apparently on grounds of the contract length, but it may have more to do with the fact that his current deal pays a whopping 100k a week, too much for a Championship club.

Notes: Amazing performer, and at any other club that would be enough to secure 40 games a season, but not at Stamford Bridge, where there are two other equally adept strikers. Manages over a 7.50 average, which is incredible given the number of substitute appearances, and plays enough to win a Premiership medal. Reaches an amazing 104 caps with 88 goals, but could do with a late career move.

Notes: With his record, you can see why Striker 1 barely plays, but how does he keep pulling these performances out into his 30s? Reaches a mammoth 116 caps, and with 89 goals may be targeting an international century. Wins a Premiership medal in an absolutely stunning season. Comes second in European Striker of the Year.

2020-21, Chelsea, CA 187: Apps 17 (5), Gls 10, Asts 0, MoM 0, YC 1, RC 0, Avg 7.27

Notes: Another whose career has hit the skids at Stamford Bridge. Still scores regularly when given the chance, but that is becoming increasingly rare. Does not play enough to win a Premiership medal, and makes one more international appearance, taking his tally to 49 with 17 goals. Needs to move clubs for a storming end to his career. Comes third in European Striker of the Year.

2020-21, Liverpool, CA 188: Apps 53, Gls 28, Asts 3, MoM 10, YC 4, RC 1, Avg 7.74

Notes: He never disappoints, and has never scored less than 25 in a season, while he has also topped 7.50 for the past 13. He reaches 77 caps with 49 goals, but Liverpool will miss his goals when he retires or leaves them – their last day win saved them from relegation even with such a fine player. Picks up an FA Cup medal, and comes third in World Player of the Year.

Notes: Idiot in settled shocker! After a season in which he was hardly first choice, he does not kick up a fuss once. His squad status is set to backup, and he never complains about this as his CA continues to tumble.

With 49 caps and three goals, his international career seems over as he hasn’t played in two years, but he may not have been Leeds’ best signing – he arrived with them champions and they haven’t hit the heights since, finishing seventh this season.

His loyalty has reached two, but otherwise he is still the same old idiot. But a quiet one, for now at least.

Notes: It would’ve been too much to ask for both idiots to go through a season quietly, and that is indeed the case. His squad status is a first teamer, but he clearly isn’t, and this rankles him, as he complains constantly, about personal problems, the lack of first team football, and the club in general.

His contract is up at the end of the season and he will again move on, but where? He is a disruptive influence, and his CA took a massive hit of 26 points this season, an indication of his lack of application. Will the big clubs want him?

With no increase on his 61 caps and nine goals, his international career appears over.

England were peerless in the early stages of the European Championships, but were shocked in the semi finals by Croatia, who beat them 1-0 in a fairly even game. The Croats went on to lose to Spain by the same score in the final.

When I set up this experiment, I forgot that I’d created Terry Peterson, the perfect assistant manager. I hadn’t been following his career but his was a non league manager before taking up the England job a few years ago (he didn’t stay at the Bandits for long). Reaching the semis was considered a failure, and he was out of the door, and is still unemployed.

Ian McDonald, a good manager, but weaker than Peterson, is hired as the replacement. With all ex-Bandits turning 33 during the next World Cup, will the nation begin to fade? The qualifying campaign has started in traditional style, with four wins and four clean sheets.

The other perfect staff member created was a perfect physio, who has been at QPR for the past ten years.

Chelsea bounced back to win the Premiership, ahead of the increasingly excellent QPR (probably quite injury free, too). The traditional big clubs were much further back, with Arsenal 8th, Man Utd relegated in 18th, and Liverpool only escaping on the last day to finish 16th.

Premiership

Sunderland won the League Cup, beating Wigan in the final, but were denied a cup double by Liverpool in the FA Cup final.

In Europe, Real Madrid continued their dominance, reaching their fourth consecutive Champions League final, and regaining the trophy ahead of Bayern Munich, while Milan pipped Chelsea to the UEFA Cup.

Summary

The Bandits’ season was a serious snoozefest – they never challenged for the playoffs and were never in any danger of going down. In the cups, they were awful. With the star players now in their 30s, signings must be made, but we seem to be saying that every season. Will it happen this time?

Their ex-stars are still flying the flag though, all maintaining their CA superbly. Goalkeeper 1 still has a CA of 200, and the rest are between 187 and 194, which is absolutely superb for players about to turn 32. Some of them are still having incredible seasons, and their clubs will struggle to replace them.

Their ability to retain their ability, however, is in sharp contrast to the two idiots, who are losing their talent at breakneck speed, especially Idiot B, who is now fading away at an alarming pace. Idiot A as accepted that he is no longer a first teamer - can his counterpart, whichever team he joins this summer?

While the Bandits were dull, the Premiership was anything but. Man Utd hired Steve McLaren in the summer, but he was sacked shortly before the end of the season, with the team seemingly doomed. Replacement Brian McClair improved the form, but narrowly missed out on the great escape, only because Liverpool won on the final day. Had they lost, it would have been them in the Championship instead.

Will Man Utd bounce back as quickly this time? They won the Championship last time they went down.

Bandit’s former manager watch

Justin Edinburgh’s stay in the Championship with Sheff Wed was short-lived – they were immediately relegated in 22nd, but he kept his job

Steve Brackstone had a poor season with Sheff Utd, and was sacked with them languishing 16th in the Championship. He was signed up by Blackburn, 21st in the same league, and sparked an excellent finish, reaching 14th, ironically four places above his former employers.

Interested Players

For the first time, the number of players interested in joining the Bandits has dropped, from 5225 to 5173. It isn’t dramatic, but it is a worry. The financial situation is excellent, but the other worry is that they continue to rely on a couple of players, who are getting old now.

None

Oh dear. This is undoubtedly a weaker top 20 than before. Eight of them are on the way down, with only two players improving, and even then only slightly. One signing was made, and he is as close to pointless as can be, and thirteen (yes, thirteen) players left.

On top of that, the age of the stars is a serious concern – Kinch is losing CA quickly, and Wells is no spring chicken.

To be honest, this team no longer needs tweaking, it requires a complete rebuild. I wouldn’t be surprised to see them struggle next season.

Gary Perry is giving a masterclass in how to undo years of good work. If he doesn’t make serious signings in the summer, he’ll probably find himself out of a job mid season with the Bandits fighting off relegation. The squad simply isn’t good enough.

These numbers don’t even tell the full story – those that had potential have gone, and those that remain are over the hill. These are potentially bad times for the Bandits.

Is there anyway that you could work backwards and fill in the details of his career?

Where?

When?

What?

Terry Peterson's career:

He was assistant manager at the Bandits for four years, before leaving to become manager of Hucknall. In his time there, they were promoted from the Conference North to the Conference National, and secured a midtable berth there.

After five years of service, he became the England manager in the summer of 2014, after Ade Boothroyd has resigned after leading England to World Cup glory.

His reign started impressively, winning the elusive European Championships in 2016, but Mexico denied him World Cup glory in 2018, defeating them in the final.

In 2020, his national side lost to Croatia in the semis, and this was considered enough of a failure by the FA for them to sack him. He remained unemployed throughout the 2020-21 season and has now retired altogether.

Acheivements:

Bandits : Won promotion from Conference South as assistant manager

Hucknall : Won promotion from Conference North as manager

England : European Champions 2016

Think about how frustrating it is for us, only checking up on a yearly basis. Fans aren't blind, they should see how much potential the team has, in real life they would have the power to call for the boards head let alone the managers. I feel that is one of the major flaws in the game - the inability for fans and to an extent board members to match up the resources and potential a team has, to where it should be in world football. In this case, yes the board may be bad and lack ambition, but they shouldn't be blind.

Link to post

The boards head? You're joking, right? The board owns the team so they can do wtf they want with it, of course it's better for them if the fans are happy cuz they're gonna make more money but the way the club is right now the board is already making **** loads of money so I suspect irl if that happened the board members would tell the complaining fans to go Fcuk themselves.

Link to post

Meistheman, fans DO have lots of power. Especially when you're talking about huge fanbases, 80000 minimum attendance means, IRL, that there are more then 200.000 maybe 400.000 fans. And if 5% is hardcore (hooligan) fan you could have 20.000 fans sitting in front of the chairmans house for instance.

In Holland, the Feyenoord supporters have forced their chairman out of the club this year, fans can really give their board a hard time.

Link to post

And these 20,000 guys would go to jail if they did anything, in this specific case I really think that the chairman is all powerfull and no matter what the fans think or do he's gonna have it his way because it is his team.

Let's say you drive a Honda and treat it like **** because you don't care. Because 20,000 people like Honda a whole lot and tell you that the way you treat your Honda it isn't gonna make you change the way you treat your car and if you want to leave empty McDonald's boxes in there it is your right because it is your car. It works the same way for a Chairman and his team.

If you want the answer to this google the recent history of Wrexham. Think you may change your tune!

This is easily the best thread on these forums, ever.

We need a "legendary thread" thread, and put this in it.

I can't believe I'm rooting for a team that doesn't exist, to do well. I also can't believe that Idiot B has been consistently the biggest whinger out of the two, yet with identical stats. It's great to know that there is some randomness in the game.

Really awesome thread. I want updates until FM08 on the Bandits progress. It'll be a sad day when the final ex-Bandit retires. It will also cripple Chelsea.

My estimate is that idiot A has had better man managing managers, asistants, coaches and chairmen to help this, but it could be due to randomness...

Not sure if there would be any point to this, but I'm going to through it out there anyway.

When all the bandits retire from playing days, how about making another team for the bandits using an ingame editor?

Or just remake some idiots once they retire. I love watching them single handedly ruining a team

A bit of a strange comparison: A football club and a Honda

Maybe it's different in N-America but in Europe most clubs are seen as common property of the fans. The board is seen by the fans as some people who must try their hardest to make the club as best as possible. A club with such a large fanbase should be playing in the highest division, so if Bandits can't make their way up, the staff, board or chairman will be blamed for that.

I think this is becoming a little bit off-topic, so this will be my last reply about this here.

I was annoyed this morning that the train journey ended when it did - five games from the end of the season so I can't tell you exactly what's happened.

I can confirm however that they made no signings in the summer, although for once didn't let a whole raft of players go either, and they made one signing in January.

And that this season is interesting for more than one reason.

Hmm, I am intrigued. I don't know how confident I am of this, but could there have been a takeover of our mighty Bandits? Perhaps an outside board (or possibly an existing board member) has seen the potential there and decided that it was about time they started to fulfil it?
