Transfer window update, February 1st

Adaminho- It has been a good first half of the season for Adaminho. As Rangers sit atop the Scottish Premier league he has been a key contributor, scoring 9 in 16 starts with a 7.25 rating. Despite his good form, the English striker has still yet to receive any sort of international recognition since his Under-19 days. And this may be the reason why he is feeling unsettled and wishes to move to, not necessarily a bigger club, but a club in a bigger league. The Rangers fan favourite will remain for at least the rest of the season, but with just a year left on his contract the clock may be ticking on his time in Glasgow.

Jose Manuel Arevalo- After half a season struggling with relegation threatened Toulouse, Jose would have been relieved to find a ticket out of the underperforming club. With his contract running out at the end of the season, the Andorran attracted interest from the likes of Monaco, Lyon, Atalanta, Napoli, Deportivo, Valencia and Fenerbache. But it was Espanyol, sitting 12th in the Spanish top division who lured the centre-back with the promise of first team football. But Jose will have to see out the remainder of hiss French campaign, where he has so far started 26 games, scoring 1 with a 6.73 rating. He has also won his 34th cap for Andorra.

Mike Bird- Despite impressing in his few first team chances last season, Bird looked to be facing another season in the Man City reserves. But some relief came in the form of a loan move to Swiss side Grasshopper Zurich, where he would at least get some first team football. As Mike has shown whenever he gets the chance, he can score goals. In his 22 starts he has scored 14 goals, creating 5 with an average rating of 7.41. Although it may not be at the level he would want to be playing it, it may make some impression on manager Camacho. Or maybe some visiting scouts. Having won no further Under-21 caps for Portugal before reaching 22, Bird has announced that he would like a chance to appear for England before committing to Portugal.

Bobinho- As a regular starter in last season’s promotion campaign, Bobinho has continued to feature for Middlesbrough in the Premiership. The Welshman has started 20 games for the side placed 16th in the league, scoring 7 times with a 6.86 rating. As Boro face the remainder of the season embroiled in a relegation battle, it looks like Bobinho will be a key part of their survival strategy. Bobinho has now won 10 caps for Wales, scoring just once.

Peter Brown- Before the transfer window opened, Brown had made 18 West Ham appearances, scoring 6 goals with a 6.89 rating. This, combined with England Under-21 form of 10 goals in 11 caps, attracted a massive £19 million bid from Redknapp’s Sunderland. And the 20 year-old wonderkid was quick to complete his move by signing the contract for £59,000 a week. Since joining, the striker has scored 3 goals in just 3 starts, achieving a 7.33 rating. An excellent start, and Brown will hope to help the mid-table side improve on their position playing alongside fellow conference wonderkid Ben Whitehead.

Adam Clatworthy- Following last season’s explosive start, Adam’s form for Chelsea this year has been less spectacular. Given 16 starts, the Northern Ireland international has scored 5 goals with a 6.83 rating for third place Chelsea. Although he did win the goal of the month award for December, beating two players before lobbing the Newcastle keeper. But his international form has been excellent. Recently winning his 19th cap, Clatworthy has now scored 9 goals for his country.

Alfonso de silva Santos- If his debut season for Roma was a bit disappointing, his second year at the club has more than made up for it. Given 9 starts for the side who sit top of Serie A, Santos has returned 7 goals and 1 assist with a 7.44 rating. The Andorran wonderkid has obviously benefited from playing alongside a player the calibre of Lionel Messi. His international form has also improved, taking his goal tally to 7 in 38 caps. Alfonso looks set to spearhead the Roma attack for the rest of the season.

Robert Dillon- Much like Alfonso, Dillon’s debut season in Italy wasn’t the easiest start. But this season Dillon is starting to justify his £17.5 million transfer fee. Given 28 starts, the most of any AC Milan player, Dillon has benefited from being played in his favoured striking role alongside Pato netting 15 times and creating 3 with a 7.04 rating. Despite proving an integral part of the Milan team which currently sits second in Serie A, the cultured forward has yet to receive his hoped for England call up. And only time will tell if he loses patience and opts to play for Montenegro instead.

Fredino- Following on from last season’s final day derby heroics, Fredino has struggled to reach that level this year. Given 16 starts for second placed Celtic, the explosive striker has scored 5 times with a 6.94 rating. But his domestic form has been eclipsed by his international appearances. Winning his 19th cap for Wales and taking his goal tally to 9. Seeing his nation narrowly miss Euro qualification.

Frketson- Disappointing campaigns are not long tolerated in Spain and manager Stoichkov knew that things had to improve at Barcelona for him to keep his job. And so far things are looking better, as the side sit in fourth place. Frketson has been a key part in bringing some stability to Barca, making 31 starts already, the Croatian has won 3 MoM awards with a 6.97 rating. Form which has been enough to see him dubbed a ‘world class centre-back’. Frketson has also won his 30th cap for Croatia, seeing his country qualify for the Euro 2012 championship.

Pablo Gonzalez- Facing another season of disappointment and exclusion at Celta, Pablo made just one appearance before hope appeared in the shape of Zaragoza. Sitting sixth in the Spanish league, their bid of £240k was accepted and Gonzalez was delighted to sign the £4,400 a week contract. Although he has made no appearances yet due to being unregistered, it looks like Pablo is a key part of the clubs future plans, and they will want to get him involved in first team action as soon as possible.

Haowan- As Portsmouth yo-yo’d back to the Championship, Hawoan has continued to find himself excluded from first team duties. But in the reserves he hasn’t failed to perform, scoring 12 in 14 starts with a 7.39 rating. The driven striker has also continued to be involved in the Spanish Under-21 side, winning his 8th cap with 5 goals. As he has been made available for loan, Haowan is hoping to gain some first team experience at another club. Although he may not stay patient at Pompey for much longer and end up permanently leaving for a club which will appreciate his talent.

Juan King- Juan has picked up where he left off last season for French side Marseille. As the club sit in fifth place in the league, King has contributed with 9 goals and 2 assists from his 25 starts, earning a 7.19 rating. As the side are through to the knockout stage of the UEFA Cup against Juventus, King will hope to continue to enhance his reputation by playing well at the top level for Jean-Pierre Papin‘s side. Internationally, King has won his 29th cap for Northern Ireland, with 15 goals.

Quincy Klapatross- So far this season Quincy has failed to repeat last season’s form as Bolton look set to struggle against relegation. Making 22 starts, the explosive striker has scored just 5 goals with a 6.91 rating. But a key factor in this can be attributed to the interest shown by clubs like Valencia and Arsenal, which has unsettled the striker. Leading him to declare that he wishes to leave Bolton immediately. While his domestic form has suffered, internationally Quincy has gone from strength to strength winning his 5th full international cap, with 3 goals. Seeing Holland breeze through European qualification, conceding just 1 goal in 12 games. While he is set to spend the remainder of the season with Bolton, it will be surprising if a deal to a bigger club has not been agreed before the transfer window opens.

Callum McCarthy- This season Callum has struggled to find good form for an Inter Milan side sitting in sixth in Serie A. Making 19 appearances, mostly on left midfield, Callum has created 1 assist with a 6.84 rating. Although with 7 ratings in his last six games, it looks like Callum is finding his feet. The versatile left sided player has also gone on to win his 13th cap for England, where he has been in excellent form and even scored 3 goals. Despite a relatively recent move and a first team place, McCarthy is still the subject of transfer speculation as Chelsea, AC Milan, Roma and Real Madrid have all declared an interest. But Callum has stated that he is happy playing for the club.

Brendan Petersen- Despite a strong desire to move to a bigger club, Brendan has found himself spending another season at Burnley. But this season, the club has been in decent form, sitting ninth in the Championship. Petersen has made 30 starts so far, conceding 39 and keeping 6 clean sheets with a 6.90 rating. While the Aussie is still unhappy with his club, internationally he finds himself included on the bench for full international matches. And it may only be a matter of time before he wins his first full cap.

Loic Philppens- In his second season at Manchester United, Loic is starting to show that he was deserving of the dream move. As United sit top of the league, the Belgian has contributed with 9 goals from 21 starts, with an average rating of 6.93, mostly playing as an attacking midfielder. But his most impressive form has been for the Belgian national side where he has scored and amazing 12 goals in just 7 caps. Which included scoring all the goals in a 4-0 thrashing of Belarus. Loic is really starting to show his ability, and could make a big impact on the Premiership title race before the end of the season.

Tom van der Fish- Tom has been in fine form for West Ham so far this season. Being used in a rotation system, Tom has made 15 starts, scoring 5 with an excellent 7.27 rating. Given the number 10 shirt, his manager Roy Keane obviously has faith in the 20 year-old. And with Peter Brown making the move to Sunderland, Tom could find his first team chances improving at the mid table side. The Northern Ireland international has also gone on to win his fourth cap.

Arthur White- As Newcastle strive to improve on last season’s disappointing finish, White has been a key part in pushing them up to fourth in the league. Making 24 starts for the club, White has bagged 8 goals this season, but his performances have impressed with a rating of 7.20. Internationally the explosive striker has continued to establish his reputation earning his 9th cap, in which he has scored 6 goals. Form which helped England qualify for the Euro 2012 championship.

Ben Whitehead- While Sunderland sit in a comfortable mid-table position this season, Whitehead has been distracted by a flurry of transfer activity involving the wonderkid winger. Making 15 starts, Ben has scored 2 with a 6.83 rating. But despite the relative disappointment in this campaign, many clubs have spotted his talent with Chelsea, Liverpool, Man Utd, Lyon and Valencia currently interested. While he will remain at the Stadium of light for the remainder of the season, it will be hard for Whitehead to stay focused on the task at hand as the offers will certainly start coming in. Ben has impressed at Under-21 level for England, getting 11 goals in 20 caps.

A team's interest comes and goes. Valencia have actually been the best Spanish side over the past few years. And they're top of the league at the moment. There's still the rest of the season to go before any offers start coming in anyway.

End of season update 2012 (Including Euro 2012 championship update)

Adaminho - Despite spending the season looking for a move out of Scotland, Adaminho experienced his Rangers first success since winning the SPL back in 08/09. And they did so in emphatic fashion, finishing 9 points clear of second placed Hearts, 10 clear of third placed Celtic. Adaminho was a key part of Rangers’ success, making 28 starts he scored 12 with a 7.21 rating. Form which eventually won him the SPL Football writers player of the year award and a place in the team of the season. Where some may be settled by their achievement, the 23 year-old is still adamant that he wants to move to a bigger club and has requested to be transfer listed. The Englishman has still to make an international appearance for his country, which is most likely the reason why he wants to join a more illustrious league.

Jose Manuel Arevalo - Sealing his move away from Toulouse before the season ended, it would be easy to accuse Jose of taking it easy for the remainder of the season. As his side finished 15th in the French league, the Andorran made 40 starts, scoring 1 with a 6.70 rating. While looking forward to his Espanyol move, Arevalo has been on good from for the Andorran national side, winning his 36th cap. With his French hell behind him, Jose will be eager to kick off the Spanish season.

Mike Bird - Finding himself on another season long loan, Mike did everything he could to force his way in to manager Terry Burton’s first team plans. With Grasshopper Zurich, Bird was in exceptional form making 33 starts, he bagged 30 goals and 8 assists with a 7.52 rating. On his return from Switzerland, Mike has found himself involved in first team training, although he has yet to make a full appearance. Despite what some may find frustrating, the former Portuguese Under-21 has declared that he is enthusiastic about his future at the club. But if the 22 year-old isn’t more involved in their Premiership campaign next season it will be unlikely that Bird will stay with Man City.

Bobinho - In a season of struggle for Middlesbrough, they simply couldn’t resist being relegated straight back down to the Championship in 18th place, if only by goal difference! But the explosive striker did well for his side, making 35 starts he scored 12 goals with a 6.84 rating. As a regular first team player in the Premiership, Bobinho has enjoyed playing for the club and looks set to be part of next season’s promotion campaign. He has also won his 11th cap for Wales, but has failed to add to his single international goal.

Peter Brown - Following his big money move to Sunderland, wonderkid Brown was in good form, making himself a key part of Sunderland’s push to finish 5th in the Premiership. Making 19 starts he bagged 11 goals with a 7.11 rating. Form which earned him third place in the English player’s young player of the year award. His form was also recognised by England manager Paul Jewell, who called him up for his first cap in a friendly against Croatia. Unfortunately, Brown failed to make the Euro 2012 squad. But with his recent form, there can be little doubt that he will win more caps in the future.

Adam Clatworthy - Despite a slow start to Chelsea’s season, Clatworthy really kicked in to gear after Christmas. Making a total of 30 starts for the club, the explosive striker scored 10 with 2 assists and 4 MoM awards with a 7.19 rating. Adam’s form saw Chelsea finish third in the league and was integral in the side’s League cup victory, scoring the equaliser in the final against Manchester United before a 2-1 win after extra time. And he is clearly highly rated by manager Henk ten Cate, being offered a new contract 2 years before his previous contract expires, which he is currently considering. Clatworthy has also won his 21st Northern Ireland international cap, scoring 10 goals for his country.

Alfonso de silva Santos - Alfonso has been on excellent form for Roma this season. As the Italian giants won the Serie A title, the 20 year-old bagged 11 goals and 3 assists in 26 starts with a 7.19 rating for the cause. Form which won him the Serie A Foreign player of the year award and a place in the Serie A team of the year. The Andorran wonderkid has also won his 40th cap for his country, scoring 7 goals in that time. Alfonso has really settled in at Roma and this early success looks like a great start to a glittering career.

Robert Dillon - While AC Milan missed out on the Serie A title, it didn’t stop them having success of their own. And their strong showing in the Champions league and Italian cup were largely attributed to Dillon’s excellent goal scoring form. Despite a rating of just 6.94, Dillon made 51 starts for AC Milan netting 24 goals and 5 assists with 6 MoM awards. Dillon was particularly impressive in Milan’s Champions league campaign where he scored 8 in 12 starts, winning the Golden boot and being named in the Champions league dream team. Even scoring the equaliser in the Champions league final as his side lost 2-1 to Real Madrid after extra time. He was also named 2nd in the Serie A young player of the year awards, and played well as Milan beat bitter rivals Inter 2-1 in the Italian cup final. After an outstanding season, Dillon’s reputation as a ruthless goalscorer has yet to impress England’s international setup. And with not being called up for the Euro championship this summer, Dillon may lose patience and appear for Montenegro before long.

Fredino - As Celtic relented in their SPL campaign, finishing third behind Rangers and Hearts, Fredino had a mixed season. In total, he played a total of 34 games for Celtic, scoring 13 with 4 assists, 5 MoM awards and a 7.06 rating. Form which helped the side seal their only success of the season, winning the Scottish cup. However, despite being the star in an underperforming Celtic side, Fredino was inexplicably dropped by manager Martin O’Neill from the cup final side and was forced to watch on from the bench. The Welsh international also won third place in the SPL Players’ player of the year award.

Frketson - Personally, Frketson has had an excellent season at the Nou camp. Playing more games than anyone else in the team this season, the Croatian has made 57 starts with an average rating of 7.14. As Barcelona finished comfortably in fourth place in the Spanish league they will be hoping for a big improvement next year. But with Frketson as one of just two Barca players in the Spanish team of the year, he will undoubtedly be an integral part in next year’s campaign. At the end of the Euro 2012 championship, Frketson had won his 35th cap. Although it is not as many as he would have wanted, with Croatia dropping out in the group stage.

Pablo Gonzalez - The best news for Gonzalez this year was escaping from his Celta hell. Now at Zaragoza, he is optimistic about his future at the club. With the side finishing seventh in the league, Pablo looks set to be an important first team member in next season’s campaign. And a full season of first team football will be a massive boost to the Mexican strikers stuttering career.

Haowan - By winning the Championship, Portsmouth won promotion to the Premiership to continue their run of yo-yo seasons. Unfortunately, Haowan failed to be included in their successful campaign, spending the entirety of the season playing well in the reserves. Now made available for loan, the former Spanish Under-21 will hope to gains first team experience at another club. But if he is not given a clearer indication of his role at Fratton Park, Haowan may be looking for a transfer as soon as possible.

Juan King - Placed just fifth in the French league at the start of February, Marseille had a brilliant run in the second half of the season as they stormed to the top spot to win the league. And Juan King was ruining clean sheets throughout the land, making 50 appearances he bagged 27 goals with 4 assists, 6 MoM awards and a 7.30 rating in all competitions. Juan was named third place in the Foreign player of the year awards and runner-up in the most promising player award. But Juan’s best showing was in the UEFA Cup, where Marseille got as far as the Semi-final against Arsenal. Where despite Juan scoring in both legs, they succumbed to a 4-2 aggregate defeat.

Quincy Klapatross - With Bolton finishing 14th in the Premiership, it did little to settle Quincy’s desire to move to a bigger club. Making 28 starts last year, Quincy netted 9 times with 3 assists, 2 MoM awards and a 7.00 rating. Form which has been enough to impress visiting scouts throughout the season, particularly Italian champions Roma, who are currently interested. The explosive striker has also done enough to impress the Dutch international setup, as Klaptross was named in the squad for Holland’s Euro 2012 campaign. And despite not making an appearance in the group stage, Quincy was started in the Quarter final showdown with Russia. And he played magnificently alongside his friend Robin van Persie, with both players bagging a hat-trick in a 6-2 drubbing. Quincy also started in the Semi-final against Italy where he played well, getting a 7 rating, as his team gave up a 2-1 lead to lose 3-2 in extra time. This took his international tally to 6 goals in just 8 caps.

Callum McCarthy - As Inter Milan finished fourth in Serie A, Callum would have been somewhat disappointed with his form. Making 42 appearances in the season, the strong full-back created 4 goals with a 6.86 rating. Form which has done enough to attract interest from Chelsea and Lyon, and since declaring he has no immediate plans for the future, a transfer could be a possibility. But most pleasing has been his international form. Being almost a certainty for the Euro 2012 squad, Callum played every game for his nation until their 2-0 quarter final defeat to France. This took his international caps to 18, with 3 goals.

Brendan Petersen - As Brendan’s contract was coming to an end for Burnley, he was relieved to be offered a new contract by 7th placed Spanish side Zaragoza. Finishing the season with Burnley 16th in the Championship having made 44 starts, conceding 63 and keeping 9 clean sheets with a 6.86 rating, Petersen would have had little difficulty parting company with the club he has wanted to leave for years. And he will hope that a regular place in a Spanish top division club will help him add to his 15 Under-21 caps with a full international cap for Australia.

Loic Philippens - Loic had a mixed season for Manchester United this year. As the club finished in sexond place in the premiership, Loic’s form was not overly impressive. But he still made 34 appearances scoring 9 goals with a 6.88 rating. Classed as indispensable to the club, the Belgian is obviously going to be a key part of manager Ancelotti’s plans next season. And this may be in some part due to his excellent international form, where despite failing to qualify for the Euro 2012 championship, he has scored an incredible 13 goals in just 8 caps.

Tom van der Fish - Tom did well for West Ham to cover the departure of Peter Brown. As his side finished 13th in the Premier league the Northern Ireland international made 19 starts scoring 5 with a good 7.09 rating. Next season he will definitely strive to improve his goal scoring for as he struggled to hit the net despite solid performances. Tom has also won his 6th cap for Northern Ireland, scoring 1.

Arthur White - As Newcastle improved on last season with a 4th placed finish, White proved himself to be indispensable to the club. Making 40 appearances, he bagged 14 goals with 4 assists and a 7.32 rating. This form has seen him become an England regular alongside Wayne Rooney and earned him a call up to the Euro 2012 squad. Despite losing his place to Walcott in the first two games, White started in the final group game against Holland and blew them away with goals on the 3rd and 7th minute before eventually taking the Man of the match award in a 3-1 victory. But White only appeared as a sub in the 2-0 quarter final defeat to France. While he would have hoped to be more involved in the competition, White will be happy with winning his 11th England cap, with 8 goals.

Ben Whitehead - Wonderkid Whitehead was a key part of Sunderland finding themselves finishing the season placed fifth in the Premiership. Making 30 appearances he scored 6 times with a respectable rating of 6.93 for one so young. Ben even made his England international debut in the friendly against Croatia. This was form which attracted interest from the world’s biggest clubs, but before the season was over, it was Serie A champions Roma who sealed a deal for the Iron-willed winger by offering a whopping £31.5 million. The biggest transfer fee ever for an ex-conference player. Strutting his stuff at the Olimpico alongside Messi, van Persie and fellow ex conference star Alfonso de silva Santos next season, Ben will hardly be able to control his excitement.

Brief early season update (including pre-season transfers) 2012/13

Adaminho- Despite wanting out of Rangers, Adaminho remains to help them defend their SPL title. The season has started well for him, scoring 1 in 3 starts with a 7.33 rating.

Jose Manuel Arevalo- Has made a good start for his new side Espanyol. Playing in 4 UEFA cup qualifiers he has scored once with a 7.25 rating.

Mike Bird- Following seasons of disappointment, Mike has found himself a surprise inclusion in the Manchester City first team. And he has grasped the opportunity, scoring 3 in 3 starts with 2 MoM awards and a 7.67 rating. A dream start.

Bobinho- Has made an excellent start to Middlesbrough's Championship campaign, scoring 5 in 6 starts with a 7.17 rating. The explosive striker has no less than 11 clubs interested in him.

Peter Brown- Has made a good start to Sunderland's league campaign, scoring 1 in 2 starts with a 7.00 rating.

Adam Clatworthy- Has made a phenomenal start for Chelsea. In 6 starts he has bagged 5 goals with 3 assists, 3 MoM awards and a rating of 8.50!

Alfonso de silva Santos- Has made a solid start to Roma's title defence, starting 1 game with a 7 rating.

Robert Dillon- Dillon has made a shaky start in competetive football after a strong pre-season campaign. After 2 games, he has just a 6.00 rating.

Fredino- After two and a half seasons in Scotland, Fredino has now left Celtic and signed for ambitious Sunderland in a £15 million move. And his form has impressed so far with 2 goals in 5 starts and a 7.20 rating.

Frketson- Has made an excellent start for Barcelona. Making 3 starts he has created 1 goal with 7.05 tackles per game and a 7.67 rating.

Pablo Gonzalez- Given his first run of first team football, Gonzalez has done brilliantly. In 4 starts he has bagged 3 goals with a 7.75 rating. A relief following seasons of disappointment.

Haowan- Another player suffering from a series of disappointing seasons, Haowan has finally been released from his hell with a £4.3 million transfer to Osasuna. And he has made a dream start, scoring on his debut in a 1-1 draw with Athletico Madrid and getting an 8 rating.

Juan King- Has picked up where he left off with Marseille, scoring 5 in 5 starts with a 7.80 rating. An excellent start.

Quincy Klapatross- Quincy has yet to play a Premiership game this season as he has only just recovered from a broken toe. He is still unhappy at Bolton, with Arsenal, Man City and Tottenham chasing his signature.

Callum McCarthy- Has made an excellent start for Inter this season, making 3 starts with 1 assist and 1 MoM award with a 7.67 rating.

Brendan Petersen- Has yet to make a competetive start for Zaragoza behind first choice keeper Agliardi. But with a UEFA Cup campaign the Aussie will hope to get a chance in the busy fixture schedule.

Loic Philippens- Has made an average start to Manchester United's season, making 2 starts with a 6.50 rating.

Tom van der Fish- Has made an excellent start for West Ham this season. In 3 starts he has scored 2 with 1 assist and a 7.67 rating.

Arthur White- Has made a solid start to misfiring Newcastle's Premiership campaign. Makign 2 starts with a 7.00 rating.

Ben Whitehead- Has made an excellent start for Roma. Making his debut in the Super cup final against AC Milan, Whitehead burst on the scene with a brace in a 4-0 victory and an 8 rating. Ben followed that up with a 7 rating in the following match.

I cant believe they payed more for me than they did for messi.

How is Van Persie only Sub 5 lol

Looks like Roma are gonna win the big ones this year with me and Santos playing for them.

I'm glad to see De Rossi is still there, but with Mezes and Rafinaha at the back, we look soild, unsure about the Gk, and with Gago as a back up midfielder. We look like world beaters.

While looking forward to his Espanyol move, Arevalo has been on good from for the Andorran national side, winning his 36th cap. Transfer window update, 1st February 2013

Adaminho- Despite uncertainty about his future, Adaminho has had a solid season so far for Rangers. In 17 starts he has scored 6 goals with 2 assists and a 7.05 rating, form which has helped his side go 7 points clear of Celtic. However, with his contract expiring at the end of the season Adaminho rejected a new contract offer from Rangers, electing to choose a free transfer to Europe chasing Portsmouth at the end of the season. In his fifth season at Rangers Adaminho has established himself as a fan favourite an they will be sad to see him leave.

Jose Manuel Arevalo- Since leaving French side Toulouse for Espanyol, Jose hasn’t looked back. Slotting straight in to the first eleven, the strong centre-back has made 24 starts scoring 1 with 3 MoM awards and an impressive rating of 7.17. Form which has been the key to Espanyol finding themselves in fourth place in the top Spanish division. Jose has also taken his tally of international caps to 41 for an Andorran side who have conceded 25 goals in their last 7 games. Jose is understandably enjoying playing for the club, and will hope to cap the season with a European place.

Mike Bird- After 5 seasons spent most on loan or in the reserves, Bird was a surprise inclusion in Manchester City’s early season first team. But it wasn’t just a flash in the pan, after making an instant impression he has now made 19 starts scoring 10 goals with an impressive 7.21 rating for mid table City. Including a last minute equaliser against rivals Man Utd at Old Trafford. Mike will hope that his form will be rewarded with an international cap, be it for either England or Portugal.

Bobinho- In the Championship Bobinho made a good start for Middlesbrough. Making 27 starts he scored 13 with a 7.00 rating for a Boro side struggling in mid table. Even early in the season the Welsh striker was sparking interest amongst bigger clubs, and as the transfer window opened Celtic were quick to make a £7 million bid to snap up the explosive striker. And Bobinho has made a good start for his new club, scoring on his debut against Hearts he has gone on to make a total of 4 starts with 2 goals and a 7.25 rating. Also winning his 12th international cap for Wales, with 2 goals.

Peter Brown- Despite some stuttering form which sees Sunderland sitting in 9th place, Brown has been on good goal scoring form. In 27 starts the enthusiastic striker has bagged 15 goals with a 6.89 rating, also forming a solid partnership with new signing Fredino. Brown has also gone on to win his third England cap, amongst which he scored his first goal in a 2-2 friendly draw against Brazil.

Adam Clatworthy- Adam has been one of Europe’s most in form players in the season so far. In 29 starts for second placed Chelsea he has scored 16 goals with 9 assists, 9 MoM awards and an excellent average rating of 7.73. This makes him the Premier league’s joint top scorer, with the highest average rating and by far the most MoM awards. Despite his astonishing form he couldn’t stop Chelsea crashing out of the Champions league group stage. But his biggest honour came when he was named the World Footballer of the year, ahead of Felipe and Ibrahimovic. Clatworthy was also named third in the European striker of the year awards. Adam has now won 23 Northern Ireland caps, scoring 11 goals.

Alfonso de silva Santos- Although playing in a heavily rotated Roma front line, Alfonso has impressed with his form. In 14 appearances (9 as sub) he has scored 5 with 1 assist and a 7.07 rating. One of the better performers in a disappointingly 7th placed Roma side. And this form has been enough to see him dubbed a ‘world-class striker’, The Andorran has also won his 44th cap for his country, scoring 7 goals.

Robert Dillon- AC Milan have gone from strength to strength this season, taking the top spot in Serie A, and Dillon has been by far their best player. In 29 starts he has bagged 10 goals with 2 assists with a fantastic 7.28 rating. And despite his excellent form Dillon has continued to be snubbed by the English international setup. So he has instead made 5 Under-21 appearances for Montenegro, and has been named in the full international squad for their next match. The cultured forward is enjoying life at AC Milan, and will hope to continue his form in Europe and the Italian league.

Fredino- Since leaving Celtic for Sunderland in a £15 million move in the summer, Fredino has impressed at his new club. Making 22 starts with 7 goals and a 7.04 rating, the Welsh striker has formed a promising partnership up-front alongside Peter Brown. Internationally, Fredino has won his 24th cap, with 11 goals. Fredino will hope to help his new side improve on their placing of ninth in the Premiership before the end of the season.

Frketson- Despite Barcelona currently sitting in a disappointing 7th place, Frketson’s form has been excellent. In 30 starts he has scored 1 and made 1 with a 7.20 rating. The world class centre-back has attracted interest from Italian side AC Milan, and may be tempted with a move if Barca don’t improve their fortunes. The Croatian has also won his 38th international cap, and at just 22, he is well on course to beat Pletikosa’s record of 102 caps.

Pablo Gonzalez- As part of a squad rotation system, Pablo has impressed in his regular opportunities for mid-table Zaragoza. In 10 appearances, the Mexican striker has scored 6 goals with and excellent 7.40 rating, giving him reason to be optimistic about his future. Pablo will hope to establish himself further as a first team regular in the remainder of the season. And with Landon Donovan performing poorly, it may be Pablo’s opportunity to shine.

Haowan- Determined forward Haowan has been in sparkling form since leaving Portsmouth for his Spanish getaway. With Osasuna he has made 25 starts with a 14 goal return and an excellent average rating of 7.40, despite the side sitting in 14th place . This is form which puts him amongst the top scorers in the Spanish league. And if it continues he could earn himself a call up to the Spanish national squad, or, with a £7 million release clause, a move to a bigger club.

Juan King- King has picked up where he left off last season with Marseille. In his 29 starts so far Juan has bagged himself 14 goals with an impressive 7.24 rating. The Northern Irish international will have the Champions league knockout stages to look forward to after his side edged out Chelsea in the group stages. However, with his side in a disappointing 7th place in the league, Juan could be tempted by the interest shown by both Newcastle and Juventus. The powerful striker has also won his 34th Northern Ireland cap, with a 16 goal return.

Quincy Klapatross- Starting the season reluctantly at Bolton, it soon became clear that Quincy had his heart set on a move to a bigger club. This meant that in the first half of the season he made just 5 starts, although in that time he managed to score 2 with a 7.40 rating. But the Dutch international was finally released in the transfer window after a £19 million offer from Arsenal. Klapatross quickly signed the £44,500 a week contract an made the move to the Emirates. And so far his move has been a success, making 5 starts he has bagged 3 goals with 1 assist and an excellent 7.80 rating. He will hope to be in manager Alan Irvine’s plans as the team attempt to improve on their placing of sixth.

Callum McCarthy- Callum has made a solid start for his Inter side who sit in third place in Serie A. In 27 appearances he has scored 1 creating 5 with a 6.96 rating. McCarthy has continued to establish himself on an international level with England after winning his 22nd cap, with 3 goals in that time. The player now rated as a world class full-back may not stay with an unsuccessful Inter Milan side for too much longer, as he is receiving interest from Chelsea, AC Milan and Barcelona.

Brendan Petersen- As second choice keeper at Zaragoza Petersen has only been given one first team chance in a cup match where he received a 7 rating. Despite a lack of first team opportunities the Aussie keeper is still enthusiastic about his future at the club. Still a member of the Australian national squad, Petersen has yet to have his patience rewarded with a cap.

Loic Philippens- So far this season Loic has found himself become a regular part of top of the league Manchester United’s first team. Making 22 appearances he has scored 5 goals with 2 assists and a 6.95 rating. While the perfectionist is working hard to improve his domestic form, for Belgium he has been awe-inspiring. Winning his 12th international cap, the explosive forward has netted an astonishing 18 goals. With a title push to come in the second half of the season, Loic will have to step his game up a notch and try to match his international form.

Tom van der Fish- Tom started the season with some solid form for West Ham. Making 13 starts he scored 5 goals with an impressive 7.21 rating. And his potential soon earned the interest of a number of clubs, but it was Chelsea who lodged the winning bid of £7.5 million to land the striker in the transfer window. Yet to make an appearance for Chelsea following a minor injury, Tom will be excited to partner World footballer of the year Adam Clatworthy up front. Internationally Tom has won 9 caps for Northern Ireland, with 1 goal.

Arthur White- Model professional White has continued his ever-consistent form for Newcastle so far this season. In 26 starts he has scored 10 with 2 assists and a 7.44 rating, maintaining excellent form in spite of Newcastle’s poor performances which see them languishing in 14th in the Premiership. Arthur has continued to impress on an international level winning his 11th cap, with 8 goals. If Newcastle can’t improve on their fortunes, White may be forced in to a long overdue move to a bigger club.

Ben Whitehead- As a new signing at a Roma side famous for rotating it’s massively talented attack, Ben would have expected little in the way of a first team run. However, so far this season the explosive winger has been one of the few regular fixtures in their Serie A campaign. Making 30 starts, the goal getting winger has hit 10 goals and 3 assists with an impressive 7.23 rating. Whitehead has boosted his reputation to become a regular England international. Winning 5 caps and scoring 2 international goals, which both came in a 2-0 victory over Ukraine in a World cup qualifier. Whitehead will hope to capitalise on his good form and help Roma improve on their league position of 7th place.
