tresh99
David Luiz, Federico Fazio, Adil Rami, Michael Turner and Ivan Marcano are all worth a look for £10m. none of them will come to Newcastle:(! Ended up going for Omer Toprak for 9 million looks decent enough
joe__the__man
Yeah good signing. I always forget about him for some reason.
f0rmat
Fazio wanted a new challenge after 3 Serie A titles and 2 CL trophies in 4 years, not to mention domestic cups. He was my defensive rock for all those seasons, rarely injured and usually having a 7.5+ avg rating. Loved the guy too much to force him to stay, so got £34m from Man City. I've still got Sakho and my great regen, plus 2 up and coming regens but they are 17 and 18, so I need one more top class CB. I'm in year 2015 btw, preferably someone with a little bit of pace. joe__the__man
Your best bet is probably to look at regens. Could try Cristian Zapata, Danny Wilson, Uros Cosic, David Luiz, Sokratis Papastathopoulos or Salvatore Bocchetti though.
f0rmat
I haven't even heard of Cosic before, I'll look him up. Zapata, Wilson, Luiz and Bochetti will cost upwards of £30m... I can afford it but tbh I don't think any of them are worth it. Papastathopoulos is still at Genoa IIRC so I'll look into him.
-TonyVain-
f0rmat Have a look at Roderick Miranda
Trilo_G
How good is Gary Caldwell? His attributes look impressive and he isn't very old for a defender. Just signed him on a free before discovering he was home-grown at Newcastle. Nice
joe__the__man
Caldwell doesn't look too bad actually. Pretty good really, would make a good backup for any top club tbh.
Trilo_G
Caldwell doesn't look too bad actually. Pretty good really, would make a good backup for any top club tbh. Well, I've just been promoted to the Premiership so he'll probably be rotating a bit, but for free, 20k a week, happy in a backup role, AND home-grown at the club, I think I've just got a bargain . I also have Steven Taylor, Fabricio Coloccini, and plan to sign Curtis Davies, so there isn't much pressure on Caldwell to be the best player in the world, so long as he can fill the gap during suspensions and injuries. joe__the__man
I think you did get a bargain. I would also play Caldwell ahead of Coloccini, looking at Colo's decisions attribute
Trilo_G
Yeah, Colo has had a terrific season but he's dirty as ever. (2 reds, LOTS of yellows) I'll work out the priority order in the pre-season friendlies and early season.
daffyg
david luiz doesnt look that good in my game. he is 24 and is yet to get his first cap for brazil also. decisions: 12 heading: 14 marking: 17 tacking: 16 concentration: 12 composure: 11 positioning:
joe__the__man
In my game Luiz is 27 and has only one cap from Brazil, but he looks awesome. Don't read too much into international caps.
daffyg
yeah but his stats dont seem that great either
joe__the__man
Well I think his potential is... -9 ...so I presume you just got the rough end of the deal.
daffyg
do u think he is worth the 13 million they want for him or should i go after somebody else
joe__the__man
I can't think of anyone better for that money, so if you've got the money to spare then I don't see why not. If you want to save a bit of money then Otamendi is probably a better option though.
Lisandro Lopez
David Luiz turns into an awesome player.
joe__the__man
David Luiz turns into an awesome player. Hopey I think you've given me the bug of telling people to buy him. I can't stop

ITFC 1
Evening all Right, atm, I am Wigan, and obviously looking for a centre back, I have 5million to spend, and I keep trying to sign Otamendi, but Velez want 11mil :/, so I was wondering if anyone can recommend someone a bit cheaper? Thanks ITFC
Trilo_G
Shawcross, Wheater, Steven Taylor...? Any good to ya? Also all three are home-grown English players.
joe__the__man
Gary Cahill for a fourth of the same. Adil Rami and David Luiz are great options as well.
Trilo_G
Joe, how old is Luiz? How well does he turn out, and what can I expect to pay for him? I'd check right now but I'm busy so cheers
joe__the__man
I don't have FM up, but I think he's 21/22 at the start of the game, and would cost around £6-8m ish. But it could be a great investment as his potential is a -
Trilo_G
Sweet, thanks
ITFC 1
Thanks guys , ill take a look at the recommended
Trilo_G
Okay I'm looking for very, very young NON-regens in DR and DL positions. Main priority is defence, not bothered about attacking full-backs. They must have the potential to be okay in the top half of the Premiership, yet not good enough to be thrown straight into the first team, as I like the feeling of satisfaction when you bring up a decent player yourself. At the moment, i have Jordan Spence, Ben Tozer, and a regen named Matt Lucas (lol!) who all seem good enough to play in the Prem in a couple of years (spence maybe sooner). All are DCs but Lucas can cover the left. I also have Joe Mattock who now seems quite an accomplished full-back so he'll be going into the first team this season. joe__the__man
For the good full backs thread surely? And nothing springs to mind btw.
ITFC 1
Right, ive decided against the ones you recommended, coz I went and got Danny Wilson from Rangers, and will keep faith with Bramble, Boyce and Cadwell for now Thanks for your help
rolo
Anyone got any Centre backs they can name for me to take a look at in the pre season of second season, I'm Man City so money isn't an issue, cheers.
joe__the__man
David Luiz, Sakho, Fazio, Bocchetti, Badstuber, Thiago Silva.
rolo
Cheers for the response. Alot of people mention Luiz but on my games some of his stats are questionable.. Only a 14 heading and 14 strength. Would that be a problem? Thanks.
joe__the__man
Well heading isn't particularly necessary for a centre back anyway, and 14 for strength isn't that bad. Could be better but it's still good.
TigerTime
Them stats aren't too bad for a centre back and he can only get better

Nottingham Forest
Name: Matthew Booth Age: 32 Nationality: South African and English Club: Sundowns Position: Centre Back Value: £120k can be got for £350k Sale Value:£1- £2 million Work Permit Needed?: no
TigerTime
Booth is good. Has decent stats and performed well for my Hull team in the Premier League. Also accepts quite low wages but you are probably going to offer him a little more than what he asks for because on most of my games Tottenham are after him.
