Pre-match v Rangers (a) - Ladbrokes Premiership (22)

Match Preview

SP22_Rangers_media.thumb.png.5f3b3f4e9835006cf789f16fb83f1994.png

The Bhoys: You beat Rangers 2-0 at Celtic Park earlier in the season but, in the eyes of The Bhoys fans, you're not really a Celtic manager until you've won at Ibrox. I hope after the match, I can congratulate you on another Old Firm victory.

Stuniverse: I think you'll find I am the manager of Celtic.

The Bhoys: You know what I mean. The fans demand a victory in this fixture.

Stuniverse: Well we're confident, we've worked hard on the training ground, have prepared thoroughly, and I can assure the supporters we'll be giving it our best effort to give them the bragging rights.

SP22_Rangers_preview.thumb.png.f5dbe843a26cbefca4815bc356640fce.png

The Bhoys: Have you got a fully fit squad to choose from?

Stuniverse:  No, Anthony Ralston is still out with a broken leg, Chancel Mbemba is recovering from pulled knee ligaments, Paul Shankland has a shin problem, and Brandon Williams is still at home recovering from the flu. Paddy McKee is looking somewhat jaded and is unlikely to feature.

Rangers float a free-kick into the penalty area, Celtic have chances to clear, fail to do so, and James Tavernier pounces to score a scrappy goal for Rangers. 1-0.

16 minutes. An unbelievable double-save by Rangers goalkeeper Ross Brophy denies first Mikey Johnston and then Karamoko Dembele. From the resulting corner, Danylo Sikan is pushed in the back. Penalty.

Stevie Mallan's penalty is that firmly struck that the goalkeeper doesn't even move. 1-1.

Brophy's free-kick is chested down by Karamoko Dembele on the halfway line, he runs all the way into the penalty area and coolly slots the ball past the goalkeeper. 1-2.

Post-match: Rangers (1) 1-2 (2) Celtic

SP22_Rangers_report.thumb.png.2b58925c48745855bc4a98e1d1a2f52b.png

The Bhoys: You did it. You conceded early, but came from behind and won the Old Firm derby at Ibrox. Congratulations and thank you.

Stuniverse: Thank you. It was a very tough game tonight and the atmosphere was electric, intimidating at times, but our own fans really lifted the players when we were a goal down. 2,500 Celtic fans in a crowd of over 50,000 but we heard them, we knew they were there and they made themselves heard. The goal we conceded was a poor one, we should have dealt with it better and cleared the danger.

We responded and showed tremendous character and desire to get back into the game. I thought the equaliser was coming as we responded strongly and our pressure was building. I still don't know how Ross Brophy saved both Mikey Johnston and Karamoko Dembele's fierce shots. Stevie Mallan's penalty was exemplary to equalise and Karamoko Dembele's individual goal to win it was simply breathtaking.

SP22_Rangers_lgTab.thumb.png.7ad8cb91e5fcbc5fccccb92cffbb68e0.png

The Bhoys: You've now played everybody twice and have a 20 point lead over Hearts and a twenty-one point lead over Rangers. Given you've only dropped two points this season, a 12th consecutive Premiership crown is yours for the taking, isn't it?

Stuniverse: I understand why you're saying that, and it would take a monumental collapse for us to be caught, but until we cross the mathematical finishing line we won't be celebrating.

The Bhoys: Jedvaj wasn't in the 18 today. Any reason for that?

Stuniverse: Yes. We've had a large number of bids for Tin Jedvaj, from seven or eight different clubs, and I didn't think Tin's head was where it needed to be ahead of an Old Firm derby.

The Bhoys: Will he be leaving Celtic?

Stuniverse: Truthfully, at the moment, it could go either way. Ultimately, it's Tin's decision. If he chooses to stay, I'll be delighted, but if Tin decides to leave, he goes with my best wishes and thanks for everything he's done for this great club .

Pre-match v Motherwell (H) - Ladbrokes Premiership (23)

Match Preview

SP23_Motherwell_media.thumb.png.c4afeb6fac9efd5d7d0dfcd72eb980cf.png

The Bhoys: Motherwell are surprising everyone this season for all the wrong reasons. Are you surprised to see them rock-bottom of the Premiership?

Stuniverse: I am. Yes. Last season Motherwell finished 6th and played very well. I expected them to be consolidating at least this season and pushing for European qualification. So their fall from grace has been pretty spectacular. I guess that's why David Hopkin lost his job in November. It's a shame, David had got Motherwell playing good football last season and I had a lot of time for him. At least David bounced back and is now managing Aberdeen.

SP23_Motherwell_preview.thumb.png.b49faa798ea2d4c0288c66e2e3535eb1.png

The Bhoys: Should be a comfortable win for Celtic then?

Stuniverse: Derek McInnes knows what he's doing and Motherwell have taken five points from the last nine available to them away from home, so their away form is certainly not something to be sniffed at. But, yes, we're ready for Motherwell and confident of sending our supporters home with a big smile on their face.

Unavailable: Anthony Ralston (broken leg), Chancel Mbemba (knee ligaments).

6 minutes

Motherwell caught Celtic cold and, from a corner, David Turnbull buried a near post header. 0-1.

The referee played advantage, after Danylo Sikan was unceremoniously chopped down, but Callum Paterson kept going, crossed to the far post, for Mikey Johnston to head home an equaliser. 1-1.

Stevie Malan sends the goalkeeper the wrong way from the penalty spot. 3-1.

33 minutes. Stevie Malan's free-kick to the far post, is headed back across goal by Dennis Praet, and Danylo Sikan stabs it over the line... only to see another goal chalked off for offside.

Another Stevie Mallan free-kick. Another headed goal. This time it's Mikey Johnston for his second goal of the game.

HT: Celtic 4-1 Motherwell

90+1 Stevie Mallan's corner is headed against the crossbar and, in the scramble that follows, Motherwell clear the danger.

Post-match: Celtic (4) 4-1 (1) Motherwell

SP23_Motherwell_report.thumb.png.9c7a0503eb7deae92b060d44072e6855.png

The Bhoys: A slow start, but a good win in the end.

Stuniverse: Yes, indeed. We were a bit sluggish to start with, I'm not sure why, and Motherwell got an early goal which, a the time, they probably deserved. That proved to be the wake-up call we needed though and we never looked back after that. Danylo Sikan worked tirelessly, without much reward, and was unfortunate to have two goals ruled out for offside. Stevie Mallan scored a penalty and chipped in with two assists. Mikey Johnston bagged two headers and Stuart Findlay got himself on the scoresheet. All in all, a good afternoon's work.

The Bhoys: The transfer window closes on Wednesday. Are we likely to see any more business from Celtic?

Stuniverse: You can never say never, but it's looking unlikely. I have a very good squad of players. Nobody is unhappy here, although Tin Jedvaj is considering a couple of offers, but if the window was to close now, with no more ins or outs, I'd be a very happy man.

JEDVAJ INJURY PUTS TRANSFER IN DOUBT

The Bhoys: Celtic's 28 year-old right-back Tin Jedvaj has suffered a hamstring strain in training and is likely to be out for three weeks. Although not unhappy at Celtic, Jedvaj has been looking to move to a club where he would be a more prominent member of the squad and get more playing time than he does at Celtic.

We understand Jedvaj has two offers on the table, a permanent move to Atalanta and a loan move to FC Sochaux-Montbeliard. It's unclear whether either club will want to confirm a deal while Jedvaj is injured.

Jedvaj's Celtic contract is due to expire at the end of May 2025.

12 hours ago, rodesire said:

But do you have a replacement lined up?

If you mean for Tin Jedvaj then Callum Paterson who joined on January 1st is his replacement. Anthony Ralston, when he returns from his broken leg, will compete with him for the RB spot. Chancel Mbemba (DC) and Brandon Williams (DL) can also cover there and Joe Willock (MLR) can play there at a pinch.

Paterson is Scottish and has by far the highest leadership of any member of the squad. I think Paterson = 15, whereas Dennis Praet (captain) and Scott McTominay are both = 12. Ralston is also Scottish.

Pre-match v Dundee (H) - Ladbrokes Premiership (24)

Match Preview

SP24_Dundee_media.thumb.png.cbc4902958f609015a47bb921093611f.png

The Bhoys: Playing a game against Dundee, or anybody for that matter, on transfer deadline day must add complications to your matchday plans and make a busy day even busier?

Stuniverse: Yes. It does. But it's the same for 11 out of the 12 of us in the Premiership, with Hearts playing their Scottish Cup replay tonight. Fortunately, being at home makes it easier to communicate with the mothership so-to-speak than if, say, we were playing Dundee at the Kilmac Stadium at Dens Park tonight.

We're in a good position where we're very happy with our squad and will be delighted to keep it together as it is for the rest of the season. We're not looking to sell anybody, nobody is on the transfer list, although there's a few of our younger players who might go out on loan if we can get a late deal done. Also, if the opportunity arises to bring in any promising young Scottish players, as we've already done with Jackie Halsman (DL), Ryan Shinnie (MR), Graeme Budinauckas (DC), Jamie Devlin (MC) and Paul Webster (MC) then we'll look to do so if we can.

Obviously, for 90 minutes I'm going to be fully focussed on the game tonight but in Ian Bankier (chairman / owner) and the Board, plus Nicky Hammond (Director of Football), Mick Doherty (Chief Scout) and Chris McCart (Head of Youth Development), we have an amazing team here working for the good of this great Celtic football club.

SP24_Dundee_preview.thumb.png.3a68307c213000283627dd7207766ca7.png

The Bhoys: Any news on the squad's fitness?

Stuniverse: Yes, we're close to having a clean bill of health and I haven't been able to say that very often. Anthony Ralston is still out with a broken leg and we're nursing Chancel Mbemba back slowly after his knee ligaments issue, but everybody else is available for selection.

Celtic v Dundee - Ladbrokes Premiership (24)

Team Selection

Celtic make TWO changes.

IN: Javier Moreno (DC), Fraser Hornby (SC).

OUT: Scott McKellar (DC), Lawrence Shankland (SC).

46 minutes

SP24_Dundee_1-0.thumb.png.31a514050e0a857edd86e525c716d6d8.png

Celtic got lots of crosses into the box but struggled to get their headers on target, until the 46th minute [45+1] when Danylo Sikan headed in Greg Taylor's cross. 1-0.

HT: Celtic 1-0 Dundee

58 minutes - Karamoko Dembele thought he'd doubled Celtic's lead but his effort was ruled out for offside.

---

Post-match: Celtic (1) 1-0 (0) Dundee

SP24_Dundee_report.thumb.png.217d816df4e3adbe7d42929ef7bcbfb0.png

The Bhoys: A narrow win, but a win's a win.

Stuniverse: Look, I don't want to criticise other managers. Dundee had a game plan and they stuck to it rigorously. They set-up 4-4-2 the same as us, but with two very deep central midfielders. They looked to drop-off, allow us possession, and defend their penalty area in numbers. They did that very well, denying us time and space in the box, and we struggled to get our headers on target because our attackers were always under intense pressure. It nearly got Dundee to halftime at 0-0 but in added on time, Danylo Sikan did get his header on target and it went in.

But in the second-half, a goal down. Dundee never changed their approach, they never opened up, they never committed men forward and I don't think they had a single effort on our goal all game. Still as you say, a win's a win and we'll take this 1-0 win and move on.

SP24_Dundee_lgTab.thumb.png.9f49323710593c287355e567f2b9732d.png

The Bhoys: Rangers were leading Kilmarnock 1-0 but ended up losing 2-1. After 24 matches, you have an astonishing 24 points lead over Rangers in 3rd with only 42 points left to play for.

Stuniverse: That's still 14 games, though. A lot can happen in 14 games.

TRANSFER WINDOW CLOSES

The Bhoys: Celtic manager Stuniverse got his wish for a quiet transfer window with only one player leaving Celtic Park permanently, Tin Jedvaj signing for Serie A Atalanta for £10.5M (£12.75M).

Seven players joined Celtic this transfer window, but only 29 year-old right-back Callum Davidson (£5.5M) and 25 year-old centre-back Javier Moreno (£2.1M) joined the first-team squad.

Nine players went out on loan to aid their development, with four of them going on loan to Premiership sides.

The Bhoys: Cup competitions dominate Celtic's fixtures in February with the Scottish Cup Fifth Round tie against Dundee United at Tannadice Park and the European Champions Cup 1st Knockout Round 1st Leg against Schalke 04 at Celtic Park.

Celtic also play four Premiership fixtures in February, the highlight being Celtic manager Stuniverse's return to Easter Road when Celtic visit Hibs.

HIBS SACK NEIL

HibsView: After a poor run of form, culminating in today's 2-1 defeat to rock-bottom Motherwell, Hibernian owner Ronald Gordon has sacked Hibs manager Alex Neil.

Neil was seen by many as the perfect successor to former manager, now Celtic manager, Stunverse but, unfortunately, things haven't worked out for Neil or Hibernian.

Hibs, who finished 3rd last season, under Stuniverse, within touching distance of Rangers in 2nd, are currently 5th, 17 points adrift of 3rd place.

Match Preview

The Bhoys: Hamilton may be 11th but they're unbeaten in their last four Premiership games, albeit they've drawn all four. Even playing at Rugby Park, you should win this one comfortably, shouldn't you?

Stuniverse: On paper yes, but as I keep saying to you football isn't played on paper. You saw last time out how difficult it was for us to break Dundee down. We're confident, we're prepared and ready, and we'll do our best to get the win.

Post-match: Hamilton Academical (0) 1-1 (0) Celtic

SP25_Hamilton_report.thumb.png.88f9cd7d745bf19eaf82e80f9365ad4f.png

The Bhoys: That was very disappointing. You nearly lost to 10-men, against a side who were second-bottom ahead of kick-off.

Stuniverse: I think you have to give James McPake and his Hamilton team a ton of credit. They had a game-plan to defend deep, deny us space, and frustrate us and they executed it very well. Overall I thought we played ok, we created a shed-load of chances, certainly a lot more than Hamilton did, but we weren't able to get enough on target and if you don't hit the target you won't score.

Our defence has been incredible all season, and is the best defence in the Premiership by a county mile, but no team never concedes goals, it's impossible. Yes, we could and should've defended the free-kick better but credit the aptly named Jamie Hamilton for rising highest in the box, timing his leap to perfection, and burying his header.

SP25_Hamilton_chasing_game.thumb.png.adbf0fae916927c7dda4c29569684598.png

The Bhoys: You really went for it in the closing minutes.

Stuniverse: We had to. We were 1-0 down and time was running out. Their game-plan is tiring, even more so a man down, and I think the fresh legs of Stevie Mallan and Lawrence Shankland helped us in the closing minutes. And it was Lawrence, scoring his first goal in ages, who salvaged the point for us. We had a couple of chances after that but Hamilton probably deserved the draw for their incredible work rate.

SP25_Hamilton_inj.thumb.png.407d754d399f1a6d05108c3a38c341a7.png

The Bhoys: Oko-Flex was substituted in the first-half. Injury related, I assume?

Stuniverse: Yes. It looks like Armstrong's pulled something in his groin and the medical team tell me he'll miss around a week.

Stuniverse (Celtic manager):

SP25_Hamilton_lgTab.thumb.png.307f7492b3b86052e24e92ec6bbd7391.png

The Bhoys: Your lead over Hearts is 21 points but they do have a game-in-hand.

Stuniverse: Yes. And if they win that - as they probably will - then it's 18 points but, with 13 games left to play, that's a considerable safety net but we have to keep our focus and concentration throughout and make sure we get the job done.

Match Preview

SP26_Aberdeen_media.thumb.png.d3f8d647835cd92446bf5e131d8f608b.png

The Bhoys: You had an awful result away at Hamilton on Sunday. Away to 8th placed Aberdeen today gives you the perfect opportunity to get back on track, doesn't it?

Stuniverse: It does, yes. But we've seen against Hamilton and Dundee in recent games that these Premiership fixtures can be very difficult and you can't take any team for granted. We've worked on some things following the draw at Rugby Park and we're confident of doing better tonight.

SP26_Aberdeen_preview.thumb.png.a37eb1bb3f352a26b82c6ef08fba3d96.png

The Bhoys: Any new injury / fitness concerns?

Stuniverse: As you know, Armstrong Oko-Flex pulled his groin against Hamilton and is unlikely to feature. Paul Shankland has tweaked knee ligaments in training and is out for a bit. Chancel Mbemba is still struggling with a knee ligaments issue.

Unavailable: Anthony Ralston (broken leg), Paul Shankland (knee ligaments).

SP26_Aberdeen_report.thumb.png.9a6ecd455cb62347c0cefbe89e468b86.png

The Bhoys: A good result after the disappointment against Hamilton. What did you make of it?

Stuniverse: We're delighted we got the result, away from home here in Aberdeen's new Kingsford Stadium. I thought we applied ourselves very well and, unlike at Rugby Park at the weekend, we took the lead midway through the first-half and that changes the whole complexion of the game. Aberdeen had to open up more, once we'd scored, in an attempt to get back into the game and that made things somewhat easier for us.

Defensively we were very solid, apart from a mistake in the back-four when they scored, but goals from Stuart Findlay, Lawrence Shankland and Mikey Johnston made it a comfortable afternoon for us in the end.

SP26_Aberdeen_lgTab.thumb.png.72cb5d6db0ce9268cf11cb42d0b45c12.png

The Bhoys: I don't know if you're aware yet, but Hearts [2nd] lost at home to Kilmarnock 2-1 and Rangers [3rd] drew 1-1 at home to Dundee United. All in all, a very good afternoon for you and Celtic. By my calculations, you just need 16 more points to guarantee the Premiership title and you've got 12 more matches left to play to get them.

Stuniverse: I did know but, yes, thank you for telling me. We are well on course for Celtic's 12th consecutive Premiership crown but we can't afford to take our foot off the gas.

The Bhoys: You're one win away from the Scottish Cup Quarter-Final. Away at Dundee United, who are 6th in the Premiership, you must be confident, yes?

Stuniverse: We've already beaten Dundee United three times this season, twice in the Premiership and once in the Betfred Cup, without conceding a goal. The Scottish Cup is a bit special, and I'm sure Dundee United will raise their game at Tannadice Park but, yes, we're confident and determined to progress.

Match Preview

SP27_Hibs_media.thumb.png.aa89f98480e7acd0482439ca1b824509.png

The Bhoys: You return to Easter Road, the home of your former employers, with Hibs 5th in the Premiership and managerless having recently sacked Alex Neil. Do you have any thoughts on the situation with your former employers?

Stuniverse: It's not really for me to say but, as you asked, I think the Hibs Board were hasty in pulling the trigger. Alex is a brilliant manager, he proved that when he took over a struggling Hamilton side, who had five points from 18 games, and he kept them in the Premiership and then led them to 4th place in the Premiership the following season. We didn't make it easy for Hibs by signing four of their best players, three of them before Alex was appointed, but they did get a lot of money in fair exchange. I'm sure if they'd have stuck with Alex, he would've brought success to Easter Road given time.

SP27_Hibs_preview.thumb.png.4fc7a0942122c63c5cb128ebdc8aa47c.png

The Bhoys: With the first-leg against Schalke 04 on Tuesday, how will you be approaching this match seletction wise?

Stuniverse: To be honest, we'll almost certainly rest some players against Hibs to make sure they are fit for the European Champions Cup first-leg on Tuesday night.

Unavailable: Anthony Ralston (broken leg), Paul Shankland (knee ligaments).

Doubtful: Ewan Henderson (tight calf-90), Brandon Williams (tight thigh-90), Armstrong Oko-Flex (pulled groin-90), Chancel Mbemba (knee ligaments-45).

38 minutes ago, kidthekid said:

Malian has been immense for you. Surely he has to be one of your favorite players in your FM career.

You are absolutely right, @kidthekidStevie Mallan has been an incredible player for me, first at Hibs and now at Celtic. I don’t really follow Scottish football in real life so I’d never heard of him before, but his assists at Hibs, both from free-kicks and corners, as well as open play have been outstanding. I signed four players for Celtic from Hibs and Mallan was top of the list, ahead of Lawrence Shankland, Fraser Hornby and Anthony Ralston.

20240217_Mallan_1.thumb.png.a59b16dcd3529eb1aca23fee654f4668.png

When Mallan arrived, my coaches rated him the 5th best CM at the club but I knew Mallan could deliver in the SPL so I picked him, put faith in him, and he responded big time. Last season, at Hibs, Mallan averaged 7.53 over 53 appearances and had 30 assists. He was 3rd in the Premiership Player of the Year.

20240217_Mallan_2.thumb.png.9d2211af247b4611df7f9f7fa0f39fba.png

When I was setting up the team instructions at the start of the season, Mallan had the highest attribute value at the club for free-kicks, corners and penalties so he’s on them all but, as we know in FM, great attributes don’t always guarantee great performances. But this is Stevie Mallan.

20240217_Mallan_SPL.thumb.png.7a790f6754511d76706ddfcc4a3a73eb.png

This season he leads the SPL in average rating 7.99 (the next best is Celtic’s own Karamoko Dembele on 7.66, then Ryan Kent [Rangers] 7.34) and Mallan also leads the SPL for assists with 17, the next best is Kent on 9.

20240217_Mallan_3.thumb.png.87012ddbd765c2cd52d8e4b93c58c1de.png

Mallan isn’t just one of my favourite players in this save, he is my favourite player of the save. I don’t see myself staying at Celtic long-term and see myself moving on to a new challenge at some point. I’d love to take Mallan with me when that time arrives, but Stevie may opt to stay at Celtic.

The Bhoys: That was pathetic and unacceptable in a Celtic team. Did you make too many changes with Schalke 04 in mind?

Stuniverse: I agree with you. That was unacceptable and we made that abundantly clear to the players both at halftime and after the final whistle. I did make a lot of changes to rest some key players, but the 11 I sent out today should've been capable of doing much better than that. I picked a team to win the game and they didn't perform. It was unacceptable and I apologise, on behalf of all the players, for that atrocious display. It wasn't anywhere near the standards we set ourselves here at Celtic and there's much work to be done.

Pre-match v Schalke 04 (a) - European Champions Cup 1st Knockout Round, 1st Leg

Match Preview

ECC_KO1_1L_Schalke_media.thumb.png.a5441f5f48ab112682720df1c47073d6.png

The Bhoys: A European night at Celtic Park. You realise the supporters expect a much better showing against Schalke than the pathetic effort Celtic put in against Hibs last time out.

Stuniverse: Yes, of course. We're well aware of that. The players know they let the fans down on Saturday. We've reminded them of the standard and performance level expected of being Celtic players and the squad are determined to put a smile on the faces of our supporters tonight.

ECC_KO1_1L_Schalke_preview.thumb.png.0c7125d77fe1d3430cedd4c99390248c.png

The Bhoys: Any injury concerns?

Stuniverse: The players we rested against Hibs are all match fit and should start. The injury and fitness situation, otherwise, is pretty much as it was although Chancel Mbemba is looking tired, possibly because we gave him a full 90 minutes after his knee ligaments issue, instead of wrapping him in cotton wool and easing him back in gently.

Unavailable: Anthony Ralston (broken leg), Paul Shankland (knee ligaments).

Doubtful: Ewan Henderson (tight calf-90), Armstrong Oko-Flex (pulled groin-90), Brandon Williams (tight thigh-90), Chancel Mbemba (jaded-88%).

Celtic started the second-half brightly and put Schalke under early pressure, but Callum Paterson was caught in possession by Marnick Vanbrabant, who then ran half the length of the pitch before beating Ugurcan Cakir and giving Schalke the lead. 1-2.

65 minutes. Stevie Mallan crashes Greg Taylor's cross against the crossbar.

ECC_KO1_1L_Schalke_report.thumb.png.e940695c356b150779653d49961e0a54.png

The Bhoys: That was a cracking game but, ultimately, mistakes cost you.

Stuniverse: Yes. I feel sorry for Callum Paterson because he's been outstanding since he joined us from Cardiff but, sadly, he was at fault for both of their goals today. Other than that, when you factor in that we hit the woodwork three times, I thought we applied ourselves professionally and played well.

Stuniverse (Celtic manager):

ECC_KO1_1L_Schalke_post-stuniverse0.thumb.png.457b9f13149c0776080cbae6aa0487da.png

The Bhoys: You've picked up a couple of suspensions for the second-leg in three weeks time.

Stuniverse: Yes. Stuart Findlay and Greg Taylor both picked up a yellow card and will be suspended for the second-leg in Germany. I think we showed tonight that we can more than compete with Schalke but it won't be easy in the cauldron of the VELTINS-Arena. We'll go there and we’ll do our best.

Match Preview

SP28_Inverness_media.thumb.png.8d36766fe7f5bf93638c77dd095059ef.png

The Bhoys: 10th placed Inverness have won their last two Premiership matches, whereas your recent form is patchy. Can you go to Caledonian Stadium and win?

Stuniverse: We've beaten Inverness twice this season, both home and away, by 3-0 each time. That gives us confidence. In recent weeks we've been rotating the squad more than normal, making a lot of changes from game to game. I don't see us doing that as much during the run-in.

SP28_Inverness_preview.thumb.png.c4405b68d0944365dff8600350c3030c.png

The Bhoys: Any injury updates?

Stuniverse: Yes. Ewan Henderson (calf) and Brandon Williams (thigh) are fully fit again, but Fraser Hornby could be out for up to three weeks after pulling a hamstring in training.

Unavailable: Anthony Ralston (broken leg), Fraser Hornby (pulled hamstring).

Doubtful: Armstrong Oko-Flex (pulled groin-90), Paul Shankland (knee ligaments).

A long goal-kick by Ugurcan Cakir found Lawrence Shankland who ran through and scored the equaliser. 1-1.

HT: Inverness Caledonian Thistle 1-1 Celtic

59 minutes. Dennis Praet hit the post with a long-range shot and Lawrence Shankland turned in the rebound, but Celtic's celebrations were cut short by an offside flag.

89 minutes. Karamoko Dembele thought he'd given Celtic the lead but his goal was ruled out for offside.

Post-match: Inverness Caledonian Thistle (1) 1-1 (1) Celtic

SP28_Inverness_report.thumb.png.f0dc5da2c57f29370fa09a2fe3e8107e.png

The Bhoys: Another disappointing result.

Stuniverse: We didn't lose.

The Bhoys: No, but you didn't win either. How do you sum that one up?

Stuniverse: It was another of those games where we created more than enough chances, but didn't have our shooting boots on and we failed to get enough attempts on target. We're frustrated by the offside decisions though as Lawrence Shankland was clearly onside when Dennis Praet hit his shot, and we believe the goal Lawrence scored from the rebound off the post should have stood.

The Bhoys: It seems to be the time of the season for surprise results as Hearts lost 1-0 at home to Aberdeen. Rangers play rock-bottom Motherwell tomorrow and can reduce your lead to 19 points with a win.

Stuniverse: With 10 games remaining, that sort of lead should be more than enough for us to clinch the Premiership title.

Stuniverse: It's nice to be going back. I had three very enjoyable, successful seasons at Falkirk but today isn't about me. It's about making sure the players do their jobs and get Celtic into the semi-finals of the Scottish Cup. We're going to take this one very seriously and I'll be picking a strong team.

HIBS IN THE SEMI-FINALS

The Bhoys: Celtic have been drawn against Hibernian in the Scottish Cup semi-final. After beating Falkirk, his first club as a manager, Celtic manager Stuniverse now faces his other former club Hibs in the semi-finals.

The draw gives Celtic an opportunity to prove that their 4-0 drubbing at the hands of Hibs recently in the Premiership was a mere blip and nothing more serious.

The Bhoys: 10th placed Livingston have taken one point from the last 12 and shouldn't cause you any problems today at Celtic Park. Would you agree?

Stuniverse: On paper, yes. But Livingston have appointed Lee Nogan as their new manager today and I'm sure their players will be wanting to impress him. We should have more than enough about us to win this game though.

The Bhoys: That was more like it and, I think, it was 88 minutes in before Cakir had anything to save. How do you sum it up?

Stuniverse: I thought that was very much a complete 90 minutes tonight. Defensively we were on our A-game and Livingston never troubled us. Going forward we were creative, on the front foot, and created plenty of chances. Livingston defended admirably and we had to be patient for the first goal just before halftime. After the break, the game opened up and we took advantage. After getting some criticism in recent games, and rightly so, I thought my players were magnificent tonight.

The Bhoys: You got your wish with Hearts beating Rangers 2-1. You're now within touching distance of the finishing line with a 22 point lead and only nine matches left to play.

Stuniverse: We want to win the Premiership title as soon as possible so that we can fully focus on the cup competitions after that.

The Bhoys: A win today, against 4th placed Kilmarnock at Celtic Park, will hand you the Premiership title if other results go your way this weekend, or when you next pick up points.

Stuniverse: To be in with a chance of lifting the Premiership title before the league splits in two is incredible. We're not going to worry about other results, we're going to make sure we do the job ourselves. Kilmarnok are a good team, but with Celtic Park rocking, we're confident of getting the victory.

SP30_Kilmarnock_report.thumb.png.5022d9e28bf3adbd97f51b04667207ea.png

The Bhoys: Wow! To go 90 minutes against the team 4th in the Premiership and not allow Kilmarnock a single attempt on goal is pretty impressive.

Stuniverse: Yes. The players were outstanding today. We attack as a team and defend as a team but, I have to admit, our current back-four of Callum Paterson, Chancel Mbemba, Javier Montero and Greg Taylor, with Ugurcan Cakir in goal behind them, are a very formidable defensive unit. Going forward, I thought we were excellent with Stevie Mallan pulling the strings again and Mikey Johnston scoring two fine goals.

The Bhoys: Hearts lost 2-1 at rock-bottom Motherwell and can no longer overtake you. Congratulations, Celtic have qualified for the European Champions Cup next season.

Stuniverse: Thank you.

The Bhoys: And if Rangers fail to win against Hamilton tomorrow at Rugby Park, you'll be Premiership Champions. A draw, with your vastly superior goal difference, would as good as confirm Celtic retain the title.

Stuniverse: Obviously, we're hoping Hamlton do us a favour but, having said that, it would be a special way to win the Premiership title by getting over the line ourselves.
