I'm not losing faith. Hartlepool are a really good opportunity to get a promotion and get back on track. They've only offered a one year deal, so it's very much about trying to get promoted staight back to the National League, and then see what comes up. I am hoping a project materialises though, as I would like to stay at a club and build something, but Hartlepool isn't going to be that club

Ha I didn’t see that you got offered the Hartlepool job when I posted, good luck with it, hopefully promotion is on the cards and then maybe on to a higher profile job

I seem to have a habit of ending up at Hartlepool.  It's happened a lot over the years

Preseason went pretty well, although we need to tighten up in defence

Unbeaten in August, but two draws that were very different in nature

as we battered Altrincham, with both their shots on target coming together (they scored from a rebound off the first shot)

but were second best at Southport and should have lost

which leaves us in the playoffs, two points off the leaders

September was another unbeaten month

and there were another two points dropped in frustrating circumstances

which means that, after going 11 games unbeaten to start the season, we are on top of the table

It was also good enough for my first award at Hartlepool

October was incredible, as we went the whole month without dropping any points, and progressed in the cup too

and six wins in six league games sees us open up an eight point lead at the top of the table

and a second successive Manager of the Month

November was another really good, unbeaten month

spoilt by Curzon Ashton getting a point from a game in which their only shot on target was the penalty from which they scored

and that left the league table looking like this

Ebbsfleet and Wealdstone were put into National League South, Stockport and Boreham Wood into North

Only two league games, both won, but still a busy December with all the cup action

and we really made Sunderland work very hard to put us out

and go into 2023 8 points clear at the top

January featured our first wobble of the season, as we went three without a win in all competitions, but we bounced back to end the month with three successive wins

and that sees us remain top of the table, but the lead is down to seven points, with only Telford looking capable of preventing us winning the title

I added just one player in the January window

Paying just £2k for this guy

Unbeaten, but not spectacular in February

and we're already assured a playoff place, with 9 games to play

Just one player signed from this year's youth intake

10 points from 4 games was a decent return in March, and we had to come from 0-2 down against Hereford

which means we are on 92 points IN MARCH!!, and 13 points clear at the top

Which got me another Manager of the Month

We sealed the title in the very next game

The board then offered me a new contract, which I've refused.

and we end the season on 102 points from 42 games, 18 points clear

Quite interesting. Fun times traveling north every other gameweek for a London based team!

At the start of June, I got the interview I was holding out for (they just got relegated to League 2)

If I get this, the plan would be to stay with them and get them back to the Premier League

Before hearing back from Wigan, I got invited for an interview for a job I hadn't applied for. A struggling Championship team isn't what I'm looking for, so I declined

It was quite a busy summer in the transfer window, but we actually made a profit

Mitch Clark was signed to play right back, but will be second choice left back too

Caron Hooson was here on loan when I arrived, and joins permanently

As does fellow central midfielder Callum Cooke

Mike Cooper was the first of two keepers signed

Right back Michael Williams joins on loan

Tom Scott is my other goalkeeper signing

and we've got our own Massive Johnson at the back

Jack Arrowsmith was signed by the HOYD, and joins the U23s. Probably not going to feature in the first team, but will get loaned out and maybe sold for profit

I'm a little concerned that we're overstocked in central midfield, and at least one centre back short. I've tried moving James Horsfield on, without success, and as you can see, he's now injured. I might try and get a centre back on loan and then sell Horsfield in January.

I managed to get Oliver Denham on loan after the first match of the season. I can now look to sell Horsfield when he's fit
