So I have started again.

I selected all of the Asian and North American nations and just applied for every job including International jobs.

I wasn't expecting to get any International jobs but I managed to get offered the UAE, Niger, Rwanda, Turkmenstan(sp) and Azberbajan(sp) jobs.

I accepted the UAE job as their squad looked the best of the bunch but by accepting the UAE job it messed up my chances of getting a few Japan League 2 jobs that I got offered.

So here is my managers profile

@vikeologist can you or anyone else keeping an eye on this thread please let me know if I have done anything wrong as I am happy to start again.

@Ronaldo Beckham How do you have the Japan league? Is that in the game this year? Is it an official SI expansion, like the Canadian league, and on that subject is your Canadian league the SI one?

Oh yeah I forgot to get rid of that, it is from a data file I downloaded.

Do I need to start again or just get rid of the Japan league off the game.

I think the Canada file is the offical one as I aint downloaded any Canada league files.

@vikeologist what would you like me to do please?

Just remove the Japan league at the next opportunity. You don't need to restart.

I know it seems fussy, but if people started adding certain leagues (eg African ones) it would make the challenge much easier, and I think the Japan one would as well.

The Canadian league has to have been added at some point, even if it's just downloading it off Steam. I don't think it comes 'in the box' as it were.

Cheers @vikeologist I have got rid of Japan and also Canadian league just to play it safe. I wont be applying for any jobs in them nations.

Do you think its a bit unrealistic I got the UAE national team job as my first job. They have some decent players and might make it easy to win the Asian Cup Of Nations.

I don't know. I just legitimately went from League 2 Folkestone to Everton.

It will be interesting to see what job you get, if any, as an international manager though.

No, I meant that having an international job really makes getting jobs harder, so it will be interesting to see if you get any club job.

Oh ok lol. Yeah I will have to see how it goes. I noticed on FM2020 that if you are a club manager you get sacked sometimes by applying for National Team jobs which never happened before in previous FM's.

@vikeologist I got my first club job quite quickly after I posted in here.

I am the new manager of Young Lions who are currently 8th in the Singapore League Premier League.

image.thumb.png.392b762684ccb372bdb298614bc30c60.png

They just stayed in the division when I took over. I took over with the season finished so gives me plently of time to get a few signings in and start building.

A good decent squad from the looks of it.

Doing well with UAE as well. I drew with Peru in a friendly. I lost 1-0 to Singapore in my first World Cup qualifying game and then went on to win the next 3 qualifying games.

Good man. I keep meaning to put it in the rules that one has to read all 97 pages of this thread before starting, and of course the responsible ones would read the old thread as well, but in all seriousness, the old thread and the early years of this one thread were really good.

I think the old thread was the best though, when letsgetreadyto created a challenge, but left lots of things unclear, so like followers of the disappeared Jesus, we tried to figure out The True Path.

Just started this on Football Manager Touch 2020. First job, Japan National Team. I've now also been hired as manager of Southern Tigers in the Chinese 2nd tier, halfway through the season and sitting in relegation. My first 4 games are against the top 4 in the league.

Small Update

Doing ok with Young Lions, I am currently 4th but only 3 points between Young Lions and the other 3 teams ahead of me in the league with 5 games to go.

image.thumb.png.950a1b26f137f0f74178d34d5e3b10cb.png

Also I forgot to mention in my last update that I got my first coaching badge and now the Young Lions board are letting me go for my 2nd badge and I will have a National B License in 4 months time.

My rep is now 15% probably cos of my work with UAE. I might stay at Young Lions for another season and then look for another job with a better team. I just don't want to start applying for jobs too quickly if it ends up me getting sacked.

I just won the regular season in the A League, does that count as a league title in this challenge? Or do I need to won the play offs too?

League win

OK, so I don't know the ins and outs of every league so this may be out of date, but here's the guidance we currently have;

Quote

Australia - If you manage Wellington Phoenix, bear in mind that they can't play in the Asian Champions League.

To win the league you have to win the Finals Series playoff at the end (league champions). Winning the regular season doesn't count towards the challenge.

It basically comes down to who is recorded in the history of the league in the game) as the league winner.

If you think this should be changed let me know.

Season 1 Update

I ended up 4th in the Singapore Premiership which aint too bad as I was predicted to get relegated but I am hoping to do better in my 2nd season.

Doing well with UAE since my last update I drew 1-1 with Syria and beat Tajikistan in World Cup qualifying group matches

Getting closer to the World Cup, next 3 games will be important games as I am playing Bahraim, Japan and then Australia and I need to win at least 2 of them to qualify.

I did apply for a few other club jobs but didn't get a look in so just going to stick with Young Lions for another season. I will hopefully win the Singapore Premier League and get my first achievement in the challenge.

I am also now going for my National A License which will take me 4 months to compete.

No I think it should remain. The winner of regular season is called the minor champions but FM made a big deal of it so thought it counts. All good as I won the play offs and will post shortly

Season 2 Update

I managed to win the Singapore Premier League so I got my first league title to my challenge which is good as it was only my 2nd season.

I only lost once in the league all season. I end up 13 points ahead of 2nd place team Geyang.

image.thumb.png.2c9b5ba4c87019d9d2003c394a16d329.png

Since my last update I played 3 World Cup qualifying games with UAE. I drew 2-2 with Bahrain which I was disappointed with as I was hoping to beat them but I did manage to beat Japan 2-0 so I am happy with that. In the final qualifying game I lost to Australia 2-1 which I was gutted at as we were all over them in the first half but we still qualified for the World Cup so I am buzzing as I didn't think I would be able to do that with UAE.

Season 17 - 2036/37

Western United

Brought in some really talented foreigners for this level including a 19yo Syrian internal forward I had in my Asian Cup journey as national coach for Syria.  The foreigner rule of 5 meant we needed to scramble some local talent and with transfers regulations in the A League this made it a little difficult. In the FFA Cup we underachieved to my expectations losing in penalties to Melbourne City away from home in the second round.

League we were near or on top for the majority of the season and won the regular season with a few games to go. This meant for the finals we would be granted home ground advantage throughout for as long as we were in it. The finals was a blow out, beat Sydney 5 -1 in the semi and revenge against derby opponents Melb City 4 - 1 in the final.

Only have one more league of choice to go and have loaded up the Greek league. Next job will be either in Mexico or Ligue 1 depending on what pops up.  Will maybe hang around here for the FFA cup which starts and finishes before the season to hopefully tick that cup off.

Top Domestic Leagues     7 / 10 - Bundesliga (Wolfsburg 2026), Serie A (AC Milan 2028), Premier League (Chelsea 2030), La Liga (Barcelona 2031), Brazil 1st Division (COR 2032), Chinese Super League (Dalian Yifang (2034), Western United (A League, 2037)

Small Update

Despite applying for several jobs nobody wants me and I worry if I resign from Young Lions it will affect my reputation so until I get another job I am just going to stay with them as I do have Asian Champions League Qualification coming up.

I also convinced the Young Lions board to pay for my Continental C License which will take 4 months.

Challenge Update

I got a new club job. I am now the new manager of Zhejiang Yitetng. They are currently 15th in China League One so I have my work cut out for me but I need to get out of Singapore so this was a good, progressive move for me. Whether it works out is a different story lol.

My reputation is at 30% now which is a nice bonus.

Also I managed to get my new club to pay for me to go for my Continential B License.

End Of Season Update

I managed to get an 8th place finish for Yiteng who were 16th in the league when I took over so I am happy with that.

image.thumb.png.1ee06c5e90e559bb8c0d15aab037845a.png

I am probably going to do another season or 2 with Yiteng as my rep isn't good enough yet for any higher rep teams but if I see the right opportunity in the Chinese Prem I will apply for it. I just got to be careful how many jobs I apply for or I will end up getting sacked from Yiteng.

I got the World Cup to look forward to next lol. I got to play Columbia, France and Holland lol.

World Cup Review

My World Cup went better then I thought.

image.thumb.png.348c6a186fdab7acb5b741dd2da38b46.png

My first game was against Columbia, I was competitive until the 43rd minute when it was 2-2 and then Columbia score and it just snowballed from there. I ended up getting thrashed 7-2.

image.thumb.png.e9eae6d248ebfd1ae8ce48ebeb0f18e3.png

I had France to play next and I thought I was going to get even more of thrashing from them but somhow I drew 1-1 against them.

image.thumb.png.37fb7b8d4a29d69fa9faf368cfce17d5.png

I had false optimism when I came up against Holland. I thought could a miracle happen and I beat Holland and qualifying to the 2nd round.

Well that didn't happen, I held my own until the 80th minute to then give Holland a penalty which they scored and then 5 mins later the game was over and so was my dreams and I lost to Holland 2-0.

image.thumb.png.fff84f7303c1a321909ccb6be454522a.png

Overall not a bad performance. I am hoping to now push on and win the Asian Cup Of Nations.

Here is my Asian Cup Of Nations group

image.thumb.png.b6cce58f0ea5d0785c535fb5710151d0.png

The UAE's FA expect me to reach the Quarter Final where as I will be wanting to win it.

Oh and my reputation is up to 35% now and 1 and half stars as well.

I just finished my Continental B license so I asked the Yiteng board to send me on a Continental A License and they agreed. It will take me 12 months to finish.

UAE'S Asian Cup Of Nations Review

Well I was hoping to get another achievement and I thought I had a good chance of winning the Asian Cup Of Nations but it wasn't to happen for me just yet.

It started well with me winning all 3 of my group games.

2-0 Win Vs Malaysia

image.thumb.png.1a3271910d38e145576345e6c502a381.png

1-0 Win Vs Australia

3-0 Win Vs Kyrgyzstan

image.thumb.png.71533a0d20fac4fccdc0e515981cfe71.png

I then played Qatar in the 2nd roud and thrashed them 4-0

image.thumb.png.98ba61ece284e0304896585d953c96b5.png

I then come across South Korea in the Quarter Finals and despite being the better team I lost 1-0 and I was out of the competition I had such high hopes for.

image.thumb.png.2a779c69e59955f7a3ee7e754611bfb3.png

Oh well onwards and upwards. I have now got a 40% reputation so hopefully that will help me get a better club job and I will be keeping an eye out for International team jobs.

Update

Well things just picked up as I managed to get the job at Shanghai Shenhua who play in the Chinese Super League.

image.thumb.png.3cb1f681e290ee4785257eac806417ed.png

They aint doing that well in the league at the moment. They are currently 12th. I will hopefully turn their fortunes around and try get into the Asian Champions League.

image.thumb.png.91d08f5b4555659ff77d6f30cf6e0641.png

I have a £78m tranfer budget lol.

I already have a decent squad with Talisca, Rodrigo Dourado, Dennis Man, Santiago Arias and Gaston Gimenez my main spine.

I think I will just buy the best Chinese players available.

Small Update

I finished my first season with Shanghai Shenhua at 10th place. I knew this season I just done was a waste of a season as I couldn't win anything so it was just about getting the right players in and getting players out.

Shenhua had 6 Foreign players as my squad only lets me have 5 so I got rid of Gaston Gimenez, Dennis Man and Santiago Arias.

I bought in free transfer Cristian Roldan and Harvey Elliot.

Harvey Elliot looks especially good.

image.thumb.png.3458a0b0822f03a2deba8ab9b53991ee.png

I have noticed the lack of good Chinese players, also if you have a decent Chinese player you have offers every day for them. These Chinese clubs aren't taking no for an answer on my players and asking for silly money for their Chinese players.

Club Management History So Far

19-20 - Young Lions - End Of Season League Position - 4th

Vikeologist's Everton 2023/24 Report

Image result for everton fc

TL;DR - Avoided relegation and won the Carabao Cup

When I took over Everton had made it to the Q/F stage of the Carabao Cup, but I took them the rest of the way.

In the final we dominated and had so many chances but it was still 0-0 after extra time. We won on penalties very definitively; 4-1.

So my first final, and my first cup, and it counts towards the challenge. Good to be on the board, and indeed in Europe as well.

The main priority though was to avoid relegation from the Premier League. I took over 3 points from safety with only 16 matches played.

Things got off to a slow start with lots of sendings off and narrow defeats, but eventually things slotted into place and we rocketed out of relegation danger with 7 straight wins.

20200428142917_1.thumb.jpg.2fa913987b8c590dd051c0142111bf14.jpg

I’m happy to stick around for a few seasons and try to win the league, but if a top job becomes available, there’d be no reason to shy away.

In fact the Chelsea job is vacant, so why not?

20200428142855_1.thumb.jpg.e625f3bb5bcfaed7c2084ba1a834b824.jpg

Top Goalscorer – Richarlison – 17

Not exactly a great tally, but worth bearing in mind that 14 of these goals were for me in a little over half the season.

Highest Average Rating (minimum 10 matches played) – Sandro – 7.38

Richarlison’s strike partner. He finished with 16 goals and may have surpassed him had I not dropped him for the final couple of matches to give some youngsters a chance.

Man of The Match – 11. Sandro – 6

Most Valuable Player– Alexander Nübel – I brought this goalie in on loan with a clause to buy for £35 million after 5 matches. The transfer went through, even though we didn’t have the money in our transfer kitty. I mean, the money went out of our account, so it better not be cancelled now, even though technically he doesn’t actually sign for us until the summer. I think he was the difference maker for our team, and his arrival vaguely coincided with our winning streak. We couldn’t afford to sign him, but we also couldn’t afford not to.

When I deserted Folkestone they were on course for a third promotion, but they gradually slipped backwards. In the end it came down to their first final, in the playoffs, where they were the better team, but still managed to lose 3-0.

Internationally, a few minor jobs came up, but I’m hoping to land one of the big fish after this summer’s European Championship.

Domestic
Season	Team Division Position	MVP Notes
20/21	Folkestone	England VNL South	4th Alfie Matthews (SC) Lost in playoff S/F
21/22	Folkestone	England VNL South	1st Jobi McAnuff	(MR) FA Cup R4, won league by a country mile.

I’m happy to stick around for a few seasons and try to win the league, but if a top job becomes available, there’d be no reason to shy away.

In fact the Chelsea job is vacant, so why not?

21/22	Folkestone	England VNL South	1st Jobi McAnuff	(MR) FA Cup R4, won league by a country mile.
22/23	Folkestone	England VNL Conference	1st Dion Rankine	(MR) FA Cup R4 again, back to back promotions to the Football League
23/24	Folkestone	England League 2	4th and lost in playoff final without me Left after 21 matches with Folkestone in 2nd and on course for 3rd promotion in a row.

Well done @vikeologist you have done well to get the Everton job from only managing Folkestone. Keep up the good work.

Quick question on South Africa as we all have to go through it as part of this challenge. Is this what a normal December looks like for everyone? I made it to the final of the MTN 8 and the Telkom Knockout while also being in the Confederations Cup, so there's plenty of games for me to play, but this is insane. 12 games in 29 days and in the next 8 days I've got 4 games having just come off the exact same run! Luckily I have two teams so I can swap and rotate and not kill everyone, but its a bit of a juggling act!

You are lucky you got 2 teams mate, just keep rotating you will be fine.

I do wish FM would have more African leagues in the official game so we wouldn't have to be a South African team all the time.

Pretty much. December and May are always filled with fixture congestion. January is a month long break usually. Rotation is the best option.

Challenge Update

Finished my 2nd season with Shanghai Shenhua, I am gutted cos I lost the Chinese Super League title in the last 10 mins of the last game of the season. I won my game 4-0 but I needed Guangzhou Evergrande to lose. It was looking good at 2-2 in that game which meant I would of won the title but then Guangzhou scored in the 83rd minute.

Wounded lol

On the bright side I got 2nd place so I got automatic Asian Champions League group qualification so not that.

My aim next year is to go all out and win the Chinese Super League, Asian Champions League and also hopefully the Chinese FA Cup as I need to start winning some domestic cups.

Small Update

I finally completed my Continental Pro License so I think I got all the coaching badges now which is good. My reputation is up to 45% now and I have 2 and half yellow stars as well.

I am doing well in the League and Champions League. top of the league and through to the 2nd round of the Champions League. I will hopefully beat Western Sydney Wanderers over the 2 legs.

I am annoyed I got knocked out of the Chinese FA Cup as I need to start getting these domestic cups or its going to take ages lol.

@Ronaldo Beckham I like the Shanghai Shenhua link! Hopefully you can win the AFC CL. Good luck with the challenge mate

So I have gone ahead 2 seasons in my save. I last updated in 2026 and I am now in 2028. Alot has happened and it'll be one big post. Two seasons in Argentina and my Asian Cup escapades with Australia. I'll post it after I get a new club in 2028.
I want to manage in MLS next but if a top 5 league team (mid table to top)  comes knocking I will take it. USMNT doesn't want to give me the job! So frustrating hopefully I have an international job soon.

Just played a local friendly and won 13 - 0 and ended up with 62 shots at goal lol

I played a game in the African Confederations Cup that ended 11-0 and I had a similar number of shots. I have my assistant take control of my friendlies, I find them tedious.

Different challenge, but my Youth Challenge side won a pre-season friendly 21-0, and came close to that quite a few times

@Ronaldo Beckham that's a rough way to lose the title, ouch! Buy all of their best Chinese players, it's the quickest way to hobble them and get to the top yourself! :D

Yeah that is what I was doing anyway as I would prefer to win the title with a team full of the best Chinese players but buying Harvey Elliot and Brandon Cortes were too tempting and I had to buy them.

Asian Champions League Update

Well the Asian Champions League dream is over for this season after losing 2-1 on aggregate to Jeju in the Quarter Finals.

Jeju the team I beat in both of my group games got revenge on me but I know for a fact I would of won the 2nd tie if it wasn't for my left back getting himself sent off after 3 minutes of the 2nd tie ffs lol.

image.thumb.png.ed6f6fffb2beb9538b64c0e125bd7d37.png

I am gutted but I will learn from it and come back stronger. I only have the league left to win now but I am pretty confident I will win that.

I am 4 points ahead of 2nd place Shanghai SIPG.

I will do a full season review later.
