  1. He's a superb shot stopper, FM is correct on that, but rather dodgy when it comes to coming out for crosses. I think he's also looked a bit nervous all tournament.
  2. Squad stats Top 5 players of the season 5. Ryan Finnigan (MC) - FM22 tactics always have goalscoring midfielders, there you go here's the best of mine, 12 goals 7 assists. 4. Robbie Cundy (DC) - Our centerbacks were all utterly ridiculous, Robbie wasn't really part of the starting duo of CBs but he was amazing 3. Ryan Edmondson (ST) - I am sorry but midseason I sinned and let my striker have an attack role, it's still DLF/A though. Resulted in him scoring 17 goals. 2. Louie Barry (AMR) - 20 goals, this kid is going places. 1. Tyler Magliore (DC) - 7.76 ratings, 7 player of the match awards, ****ing hell.
  3. January-February 2023 3 new players come in to replace 4 that have left - we've sold backup forwards Otis Khan and Michael Folivi, as well as backup goalkeeper Sam Sargeant, whilst left-back Lewis Gordon was recalled from loan by his parent club Brentford after an horrific injury he had in a recent match in which he injured his spine in a tackle(!). I'm quite excited about these lads, really good players. Adam Lewis is a permanent signing from Liverpool! He'll play as attacking leftback for now but can do quite a lot of different things. Bit of a mini wobble the last week, but January was very good. Lots of goals scored! We're top of the league! With games in hand, but it's a thing.
  4. Every day I tune in to the World Cup, a Benfica player gains 10 million in value, I'm hating this.
  5. Yeah that's another option people were suggesting on Reddit. Idk I can see the upside but I also really dislike 3 team groups, even with those tweaks.
  6. That Brazil team is so talented you'd think they'd just outscore the opposition regardless. However, Croatia have Davor Suker, who could lob from distance even Peter Schmeichel... imagine him vs an empty net.
  7. If we HAVE to have 48 teams, there is no sensible alternative other than 12 groups of 4 One option which we haven't seen above, but someone was suggesting on Reddit the other day, is: I think this is better than having a "round of 32" personally. That's just way too many games, and would need the annoying maths of figuring out who are the best 3rd placed teams. This way the top 2 in each group qualify, as usual. 96 matches in total.
  8. I'm voting for the 3 favourites here (ARG, BRA, POR) because I think the slight surprise is happening in the other match with England going through... Everyone is saying Netherlands-Argentina is really tough for the Argentines and I agree, specially as they have had zero width in this competition and the Netherlands stack up the center of the pitch, but I think Argentina have been increasingly creative and somehow finding space to dismount the opposition... and the Netherlands have conceded quite a lot of chances against Ecuador and the USA.. They might have Van Dijk and a few other accomplished centerbacks but I really don't trust them to not concede. Brazil should be too strong for Croatia, and in our match I think we won't smash them like we did over the Swiss, but Morocco as surprising as they've been, and genuinely competitive, have also rode their luck a tiny little bit... look at their xG in the match vs Belgium for example.. at the moment we seem to attack with more intent than Spain and I think we'll eventually score rather than be happy to just pass it around and wait it out for goals to arrive out of the sky.
  9. I have a feeling you guys are going to win. Mbappe is in insane form and it is entirely possible he might decide the game again, and they have several other dangerous players that are clicking well together, but France are still vulnerable. Australia opened the score against them and they looked rattled for a while, Denmark managed to equalise, and Poland looked genuinely on top of the match for a brief period. England is better than all these teams, more solid in defence, more talented in attack.
  10. We don't really know. The manager said he was dropped because of disciplinary reasons, but it might have been a good excuse to see if the team works better without him as well (as it has worked in the past, in some friendlies and minor games in which he was unavailable).
  11. The right answer was 7. Morocco the only that shocked.
  12. Commentators here were saying this ref is famous for not handing out many cards.
  13. I know almost everyone apart from Portuguese Porto fans hate him but he's amazing, still. Might be one of the best players at his age I've ever seen.
  14. Cancelo was benched because of poor form. Dalot played better than him vs Korea.
  15. I'm not an England fan but don't expect to ever see Foden in a central position under Southgate. I think he feels it's too much of a defensive liability. Even Pep prefers to use Foden wide..
  16. My bet is Portugal-Argentina at a world cup, with Messi and Ronaldo, finally happens... ... in the third place, bronze medal match. Ok this is just a cheeky idea, there's no way we beat Spain in the quarters
  17. Whether he's right to be aggrieved or not, I don't think this is a huge deal, players getting wild emotional reactions after just being knocked out of a World Cup in dramatic fashion, is something we've seen plenty of times over the years. Like sure vandalism is bad, but people lose their ****, it's human. Just apologise Edinson and pay for the equipment if it's damaged.
  18. In a rather unusual knockout stage arrangement, although this is a pretty close World Cup where lots of surprises have happened, we have a rather clear pack of 8 favourite teams facing off 8 lower reputation teams. By the 8 favourites I obviously mean the 5 world champions - Brazil, Argentina, France, Spain and England - the 2 former finalists (in recent times, even) Netherlands and Croatia, and us Portugal who tend to also be considered thereabouts on the group of favourites, based mostly on squad ability on paper and European Championships performances rather than World Cups. That being said, this is an open World Cup and we can definitely see space here for some of these teams losing. Netherlands-USA and Portugal-Switzerland appear particularly close matches on paper and who knows if others like Senegal and Japan and Morocco cannot also surprise other teams. So how many of the big 8 will win? I'm thinking maybe 6 or 7? Poll closes in a few hours just before the Netherlands game! This is a crazy fast paced World Cup where there's zero days of rest between the groups and the knockouts...
  19. They won what they wanted, 2nd place in the group. Bit of a disgrace what happened this evening in my opinion.. Spain stopped trying to win, to knock out Germany and get a better draw on purpose. I was looking forward to watching this Spanish side go deep in the tournament, but now will be delighted if either Morocco knock them out, or if we do it in the quarters.
