2035/36 Annecy  FC season review - French Ligue 2

    The League

After 22 games, we were sitting in 9th position, only 5pts off the playoff spots, and looking at the possibility of a great season. Then on deadline day of the January transfer window our chairman went and sold two of our best players. We slid down the table, but managed to hold on to 15th position.

We have a lot of money (around 20m) and another round of Youth and Facility upgrades coming, but the playing squad is weaker than it was at the beginning of last season. The youth intake was poor.

On the positive side, there's no one left of value for the chairman to sell.

    The Players

Alaa Saibi YP24c was once more the player of the season and top scorer with 23 goals.

Jonathan Marques YP31e was the young player of the season.

@Fastbasher good win to stay in ligue 2, slow process. But hopefully you can keep it going. Team should be a year older and slightly stronger?

Thanks. Yeah, they're improving fast now we are full time and facilities are getting regular upgrades.

It's frustrating having our chairman sell the players just as I think they're making progress.

We have a pattern of starting well, then it all goes bad. I think it's because the 1st eleven is pretty decent, but we don't have depth. As soon as injuries and suspensions build up, we're in trouble.

2034/35 Annecy FC season review - French Ligue 2

    The League

It was a miserable season on the field. After several poor performances we finished in 18th position and a relegation playoff against the 3rd placed team in the French National. We defeated USBCO 3-1 (1-1a, 2-0h)

It says a lot that the highlight of the season was the 2-0 home leg of the relegation playoff where we broke our attendance record (from 5k to 11k) and gate takings (from 80k to 210k). I'm thinking we should aim for 18th each season and this little financial boost.

    The Players

Despite the poor results, Alaa Saibi still managed to get 16 goals to be player of the season and top scorer.

The youth intake was poor overall, but there was one promising player. Francis Papon YP35a looks like he could make an impact. If we can keep hold of him.

    Transfers

Auclair, Renouf, NDoye were all promising players sold against my wishes.

Club takeover and the new board immediatley bid on two players. Havent found any way to cancel it. Anyone experienced this or know a secret trick ?

@darren1983 you know anything about it ?

Go to 'Staff' and 'Responsibilities' drop down menu. Select 'Transfers and Contracts' and make sure you are in control of everything.

It could be that your chairman or a staff member is responsible for some negotiations.

2033/34 Annecy FC season review - French Ligue 2

    The League

On the field we had a nice safe and boring 14th place, without coming close to a relegation battle. Just what was needed.

Off the field we struggled to keep hold of a promising group of youth. Some I was forced to sell to the highest bidder and a 50% sell on clause when clubs started offering contracts for compensation only and one I received an offer too good to refuse.

    The Players

Goals were spread around a lot more, but Alaa Saibi just scraped the top scorer award with 11 goals. He now holds the club record for the most league goals overall with 121.

Leopold Alves YP22a was the player of the season.

Albert Njoya YP33e was the best of the youth players I was able to keep and bring into the first team. He was shifted between DM and Right Back as needed.

    Transfers

The sale of Jean-Marie Monteiro in January was not what I wanted. But he had 1.5yrs on his contract and would not sign a new one. 3.5m now, potentially rising to 5.25m was a very good deal. I can sell the +50% clause now if I want, for another 1m.

At first glance, my worst intake so far, but I think you really can’t tell at the point of intake. My reviews 3 years after intake (like the one below) demonstrate that.

Totally agree. With the nickname change, I try to name mine from YPa to YPz based on how promising they are. I expect a and b to be the stars that will take the team forward, but often I rely on f, g and h.

2032/33 Annecy FC season review - French Ligue 2

    The League

We started off on fire. 10th place at the halfway stage and 14th with 8 games remaining. Then things went downhill fast. We managed only a single point in our final 8 games and narrowly avoided relegation.

The board agreed to both youth and training facility upgrades, then cancelled to youth upgrade due to lack of money.

    The Players

Alaa Saibi YP24c was once again our top scorer and player of the season.

The youth intake was the best so far. Gregoire Robert YP33a is the star in the group. Unfortunately him and the other promising players are attracting too much attention from bigger clubs. We may lose some of them.

    Transfers

Jean-Marc Riviere was sold for compensation. At least it was pretty good compensation.

2031/32 Annecy FC season review - French National division

    The League

This was my most enjoyable season of this challenge by far. Almost all tinkering with the team improved our fortunes. I suspected this team would prove capable in the French National division and they did not let me down.

At one point in February we were 9 points clear at the top of the table. We were guaranteed promotion with two games in hand and actually won the league with a game in hand due to all other games being played before ours in the final round and the head to head tiebreak with Beziers being in our favour.

    The Players

Alaa Saibi YP24c was once again our player of the season, young player of the season and top scorer with 25 goals. He was also runner up for French National player of the season award. One frustration was the amount of times he got called up to the Tunisian national team without playing. He missed five domestic games because of this and we relied on him heavily for goals. He went to the African Cup of Nations, but made just a single substitute appearance.

Abdelhadi Amara YP24b won the French National division goalkeeper of the season award.

Julien Aubert YP28c was also selected for the French National division team of the season.

    Transfers

Our chairman once again tried to sabotage our team by accepting an offer for highly talented DM, Nicolas Renucci, for 2.2k. I asked him to renegotiate and he seemed pleased to get the deal up to 2.5k.

A board takeover could really improve our fortunes.

The announcement that we were turning professional came with two games left in the season, once promotion was confirmed. I'm now busy trying to tie down my first team players to full time contracts and keeping my reserves on part time contracts for 20-50 pounds a week.

The world has just opened up with greater possibilities for financial improvement, infrastructure improvements and increased player development.

Was playing as Brodd IL and got relegated, and continued playing in the 4th tier. But in my save there was a bug with finances.

Upgraded training and youth facilities and didn't lose any money but when i got promoted to 3th tier again the finances got lower when i upgraded stuff.

That sounds like what happens in the 4th tier in France as well. It is also not possible to save money from one season to another.

2030/31 Annecy FC season review - French National 2-D Division

    The League

Promotion achieved with a 5th placed finish. We were easily the best of the non reserve teams. This team is coming of age and I have a good feeling about next season. The reserve teams with their multi-million pound bench players are better than the French National division teams and we held our own in a lot of games against them. We've also won 3 out of 3 games against National division teams in the Cup in the last two seasons.

Our midfield, attack and keeper are all good players for the National division. It is only the defense I am worried about. I'm actually retraining a DM and Right Back to play as Centre Backs.

    The Players

Alaa Saibi YP24c was once again the Player of the season, young player of the season and top scorer with 24 goals. He also got his first cap for Tunisia and has been called up to the national team for the African Cup of Nations.

Abdelhadi Amara YP24b broke our club record for the most clean sheets.

The youth intake once again showed promise, with Nicolas Renucci YP31d being good enough to go straight into the first team. Since our chairman sold our promising young CB, I brought Renucci in to play as a DM and moved our existing DM to the vacant CB position.

    Transfers

Our record sale was broken when our chairman sold Rodriguez for 32k against my wishes.

2029/30 Annecy FC season review - French National 2-D Division

    The League

On the surface, it looks like just another mid table position. But since there are now six Ligue 1 reserve teams playing in our division, it was only the freakishly good performance of Moulins Yzeure Foot that prevented us from being promoted.

The squad is progressing well. We have about 5 or 6 players that could compete in the French National League.

We had a great cup run, reaching the quarterfinal without playing a single club in the top 2 divisions. Then we got thumped by AS Monaco. Unfortunately the money was not good enough to progress much, but we did break our attendance record.

    The Players

Alaa Saibi YP24c was player of the season, young player of the season and top scorer with a massive 27 goals.

Julien Rodriguez YP27f was this years youngster that made the step up to the first team.

Maxence Chapuis is retiring after 12yrs with the club. This season he broke Kadi's league appearance record with 352.

The youth intake continues to produce some players with promise.

2028/29 Annecy FC season review - French National 2-D Division

    The League

Another safe mid table finish. We were never challenging for promotion, but at the same time, in no danger of relegation.

It is hard to build up the funds in this league. It seems you can't carry it over from season to season as you just get less of it the following season.

    The Players

Mehdi Kadi was once again player of the season (7 of the last 8 seasons) and joint top scorer (8th consecutive season as top or joint top). Unfortunately after 10 seasons with us, he is now retiring. Kadi finished with the record number of league appearances at Anncey with 335 and record number of league goals at 117.

Bruno Lacroix YP21c was the youth player of the season.

Romain Pfister YP28b made a successful step up to the first team.

The youth intakes are starting to show a lot more potential.

The reason for that is that they have almost only Cape Verdean players, and indeed, their grays are also from Cape Verde. The drawback?

Won't most of your team be unavailable during the international breaks as they're off playing for Cape Verde?

Does Portugal have cup games and/or lower league games during the international break?

  14. @jstu9 I'm envious of that budget

    image.png.05220fab9c8ff05685c83efe211561a3.png

Current spending is what your annual wage is at present. Committed spending is what you have to pay next season for contracts that already go into next season. If you release all players with expiring contracts, then that will be your 'current spending' next season.

Basically of all the players with expiring contracts, you can offer around 2100 in total to the ones you want to keep to stick to budget.
