And he did it twice. Armenteros scored again, this time in the 1st minute, Berry doubled our lead after the break and we looked like the clear winners. But then they equalized inside 5 minutes and pressed for the winning goal. Which was when we countered with Berry scoring our winner. A perfect draw. This game deserved no winner. This win against our rivals secured our Championship group place. We made the Championship group again. Hopefully we will perform better than last season there. The Matches We will never know what would have happened if Mazagg was NOT sent off... Damn! We AGAIN concede in stoppage time. And against our rivals, of all teams! A nice brace by our young striker talent Berry secures us an important point. Armenteros!!! He shows one last time what an important player he could be! Now WE score in stoppage time! Danho the match winner! So we finish in 4th position this season, a new club record! And we will play in the UEFA Conference League again next season. Despite the rotation we used or maybe BECAUSE of it. However, this season proved to be a real TEAM effort as everyone in the squad got a least some minutes (excluding poor Alberto Carlos but he played a good role in the reserves at least) and was able to contribute in some way or the other. Our new signings fit in well, but only Sebastiano Finardi stood out with 8 goals and 7 assists. And of course our player of the season: Young Academy Product Miles Berry! Playing mostly as an advanced striker, he managed to have his hand in 33 goals this season! I am looking forward to seeing him prosper, hopefully we can get hold of him long enough. Sadly, our long-time servant Lavdrim Hajrullahu did not extend his contract and will leave despite still being a vital part of our defence. We will have to find some replacement for him for next season. We also say goodbye to Penalty Master Samuel Armenteros who will go back to his home country Sweden. The Finances This is looking good. Carmona has only been a temporary solution from the start anyway, Nkemby never made it here and Thuillier is a good striker talent but we put a 50% percentage of his next sale-clause into the contract so we will have to wait and see. The others are the usual loans for match practice. Murith is a young talent and will play in the reserves for this season. Burkart can play on both wings and as a striker, Berdayes is somewhat the same, but can only play on the left wing instead of both. Andiyapan can play both left back and in central defense, while M´Bemba is a no-nonsense central defender. Babacan brings a lot of creativity into our central midfield, while also being a decent set piece taker. The Squad 2026/27 Niklas Steffen has developed into a very good goalkeeper. We now look much better in defense, having added more quality instead of quantity with Andiyapan and M´Bemba. Nice to see more flair and creativity in our central midfield as well, I hope Babacan can live up to the expectations we have in him. Eberhard has also improved over the last season, making him a first team candidate. Excited to see what Burkart and Berdayes can offer on the wings. And we are waiting to see the next step in Berry´s development. Season Preview and Board Expectations We are not rock bottom anymore. I like that our Board is sensible. Pre-Season Friendlies OMG. And here comes a strong one. Our August is always full of matches and this time we did not lose one game. The Matches A good start into the season for us. Rapid must have felt FM´ed by us! We really only start playing when Berry got subbed on after an hour and he completey turned the tides for us. We took the point, no complaints there. An ugly game for the fans. But in the end it was enough to advance to the next round. Gillardinho shows he is still there with a hattrick against the amateur team. We thought this game was over after 50 minutes but all of a sudden the Norwegians said "Nei!" and came back in style. This is the football I wanna see! Great attacking harmony and nice goals. A tight first half was followed by a slow second half but when Berry scored it was all over for them. We made it to the League Phase again! A boring draw in the derby to end this month. Top of the League! This is historical. The News The Board accepted my request for improvement. We are finally on the right track. The Matches We were never in danger of losing this. FCL surprise us and take all the points. Well played. A real good effort, snatching a point away at the favorites. The Montenegrin team had no chance after turned up after the break. We share the points in an even game. We haven´t had a stoppage time winner for quite some time now, so this was very welcome, albeit in a Swiss Cup game. Still among the top teams. The Matches This Junior belongs in the Senior Leagues with a perfomance like that! Berdayes does what we have bought him for. Sion look a different team this season. Their defense is rock solid. Some wild game again and we win in in the 95th minute! A great game for the neutrals surely. But no points for us in Sweden. Controlling the game from the start, we get the 3 points here. We took 3 points though. Vaduz will most likely get relegated again. We only crumbled after the red card. It was a great effort from the lads against the EPL team! We threw the game away in the last 15 minutes. Our Swiss Cup season ended here. Burkart exploded and we trashed Luzern. A good result for us. We happily take the point. Well this was an obligatory win for us. An unlucky defeat against harmless Grasshoppers. Brahimi was in a class of its own during this game. We slipped but we didnt fall (yet). Sometimes a narrow win is just enough. This was the case here. We were even until the last 10 minutes when they scored. Thank god Gillardinho was fit enough again to score 2 goals for the derby victory. We were able to widen the gap a bit. We took on the fight and won. We won this match confidently. A gruesome performance by our defence and we were out already after the first leg. Somehow they managed to take their Europa League form into the next game. No, it wasn´t a "respectable" result. We played against their B team! We comfortably made it into the Championship Group this time. The Youth Intake Not very good this time. However, those three lads will be signed anyway. The Matches Bayard in most probably one of his last games for us scored the winner in stoppage time! Did I mention that I just LOVE Stoppage Time? Sadly our good form came to a stop against Basel. No, I do not like Stoppage Time. A nice win for the fans to close the season. A 4th place finish and we qualified for the Europa Conference League once more. With 22 goals and 7 assists he was one of the top performers this season, if not THE best. New signing Nishan Burkart also had a great debut season for us, accumulating 24 scorer points. Atalay Babacan had his foot in 19 goals in total. Sorensen was the best player in our defense, which still looked very shaky at times. We will need to invest to improve this part of our squad. Carambau Posted September 26, 2023 Author Share Posted September 26, 2023 July 2027 Part I Transfers The most prominent name here is of course Gillardinho, who could not keep up with the other strikers in the squad anymore and therefore was loaned out. Diego Gonzalez left for Vaduz after his contract was not extended. Tom Murith was loaned out for another season as well. All other players are mostly youngsters and never played a role for the first team. Finally a big name transfer for us! Former German international and world cup winner 2014 Julian Draxler joins us! At 33, he can hopefully pass on some of his qualities and experience to his fellow players. Ali Isah is a towering central defender, while Ryan Edmondson brings strong physical attributes with him. We pay a record 625K for left back Mark Strajnar and he really looks worth it! Additionally, after two seasons on loan in the 2nd division, central midfielder Alexandre Pelletier from our U19s also joins the squad. The Squad 2027/28 The team is led by Steffen and Berry. Let´s hope the new additions gel quickly and we do better than last season! Season Preview and Board Expectations At least our figures are down to 2 digits. Miles Berry appears among the big boys! The Matches A Berry brace secured our first 3 points of the season. Berdayes won the first leg for us. Damn, Sion really have become a strong team indeed. Berry with another brace. We took it easy after our second goal and were almost punished for that. Almost. The team with the funniest club logo I have ever seen. We get away with a goalless draw in Israel. Attacking football at its best. This happens when all comes together on one day. We wrapped the tie up after half an hour already. We made it to the League Phase again! No chance. But they also gave us the space to do it. Zurich was really unlucky. But we didn´t care. The Scots fought back and deserved the draw. Great entertainment for the fans and in the end we won. A pity we couldn´t end the year with a win. Nevertheless we qualified for the knockout rounds. A top 4 finish looks likely again. Berry made the difference. Football, bloody Hell! A Derby Goal Bonanza which almost turned into a tragedy! We were up 5-0 at half time including a Berry Hattick and I decided to take it slow and bring on some benchers. And then they scored goal after goal and we could be happy that they did not score more goals in the remaining 20 minutes. (Might have been because I decided to go defensive and play on counter finally...) Another stoppage time goal saved us a point. Goals Galore again, this time in the Swiss Cup. in the end we win after penalties and will meet Winterthur in the semi final. Quick revenge as they beat us in the following league game. Lots of injuries weakened our team and it shows. Miles Berry saves us again with another Hattrick. A stupid red card led to an unnecessary defeat. A good win concludes this month. We had to fight very hard to win this. Another stupid red card resulted in another stupid defeat. The early lead eased the pressure but it was still a hard fight again. We will meet AA Gent in the next round again. Hopefully we can beat them as comfortably again as last time. We steamrolled them. A convincing performance. They were the better team. Our Academy Products won this game for us. When in Europe, we never fail to score. A great 1st leg result for us. The Derby was won by us again in style. We survived the early scare to reclaim control and in the end managed to go through to the semi final against Valencia! Super Sub Berdayes came on and decided the game. We will meet Young Boys in the final. That is the table before the split. The Youth Intake Not a good intake this time. We signed them anyway. The News So it was nothing but talk. As expected. A decent performance against a strong Spanish side. A surprise win for us! It was clear we did not have a big chance. Respect to the lads for a great European run! An expected defeat against the Champions. We woke up after the break and won the game. Again, we take our time to secure the win. No sensation in the final. Our keeper and our 5 strikers have an AVR of 7 or more. And ONLY them. But I don´t complain. The new signings fit in well, although we will not extend Draxlers contract. Miles Berry continues his fantastic development with 44 goals this season! I wonder when / if he will get a call-up from the Switzerland national team? The Finances Good money to spend next season.
