The Brief

As ever, the board brief was to Finish Mid-Table this season, with us to make an effort in the DfB Pokal. Our budgets were £525k in the wages and £28.5m transfer budget.

The Results
image.thumb.png.899970345e11a59ca46831a181b25f1d.png

Unbeaten start to the season is a fabulous way to start FM24, with 18 year old AMC Josef Zorn stunning the league with 3 goals and 4 assists in our first few games

The Transfers

IN

Much like in 2032/33, we re-signed an academy graduate who had been released by the club that signed him from us (Kulikov), a player who had been poached from our academy and then was released (Konate) and an academy graduate on loan who wasn't playing at his club (Jarosch)

OUT

All three players were squad players who I could stand to lose. In Mannel and Dann's case, they were backups anyway and in Sassi's case, I had a decent youth player to replace him as first choice

The Eye Test

Absolutely on fire this season, our tweaks to the formation in the off-season has made us virtually unbeatable and I'm loving it!

The Transfers
In

We got the band back together as two old boys came home, both were half price, due to our 50% sell-on clauses!

Out

The Ginter deal was the trigger to bring Susak back to the club and the Kopnick deal was too good to turn down on deadline day

This is next season's lineup without moves. Let's look through to see when/where there are issues.

GK - Set at GK, however we might not keep Gosslar next season and that leaves us really short in that position
DR - Susak back baby! He's taken Ginter's mantle and the backups are the same
DCR - Not entirely sure that Brodwolf will stay beyond the summer, so we need some backups to come through
DCL - Same issue here, although Farhat is a decent prospect to succeed Flauder if he goes
DL - Turgeman is #1. Hagsmeister is....a big #2....
DMCR - FINALLY! Some depth. We've gone back in time with our DM pairing, but there is depth behind him for once
DMCL - Same here, we've got depth and talent in the position. Just hoping that they improved behind Murati
ML - Probably one of our weakest positions as Binde wants out and Stofer is not first team material
AMR - Fabian Coernen is the clear first choice with the other two interchangable behind him
AMC - Our most talented position, with regards age/talent, with Zorn at 18 years old and Wenzel at 17, we're looking good here.
ST - Karner is still #1, but I may look to supplant him with Schmidt next season

  • ML/AMRLC  Marius Tomas - Work Rate: 12, Pace 13, Techinque 15 - DNA: Passed

Oh baaaaayybeeee.... This guy is going to be glorious. I already forsee him starting a game before the end of the season.

image.thumb.png.cc38e2927a4d60eeb5d2c82e1a3ea201.png

  • MR  Arbnor Murati - Work Rate: 15, Pace 9, Techinque 15 - DNA: Failed

This guy is a bit of an enigma, I really don't know where to play him. Maybe AMR, but his Pace is awful

image.thumb.png.1cbb83a547ef2ee8198ebfcf5f177eda.png

  • M/AML/ST  Rüdiger Derichs - Work Rate: 12, Pace 15, Techinque 14 - DNA: Passed

Finally, some cover for the ML position. He could be the starting ML in a year or two

The Eyetest
Well. FM24 has kicked off very, very well as we finished as CHAMPIONS in 1st place in 2.Bundesliga. We didn't lose a game until January and lost 3 of our 5 games to 90+ minute goals. What a wonderful season! Heinz Karner led the way with 18 goals,on his way to becoming Cottbus' all-time top goalscorer. We also had a fairytale run to the DfB Pokal Final, mainly facing fellow 2.Bundesliga sides up until the Semi-Final, where 3 goals in the last 10 mins saw us upset Borussia Dortmund, 4-1! Sadly, we couldn't finish the job, losing 0-2 to 1.FC Koln. Stats-wise, we finished 1st on Goals Scored and 1st on Goals Conceded, which showed the league that we were a force to be reckoned with!

Cheers buddy. Looks like my formation is overpowered on FM

I'm getting the same feeling about mine as well to be fair. :D I've had a feeling that setting up in a sensible way with well matching roles and instructions is probably enough to gain a siginificant advantage over the AI.

The Brief

Our first season in 1.Bundesliga, the board brief was to Avoid Relegation this season, with us to make an effort in the DfB Pokal. Our budgets were £160k in the wages and £34.5m transfer budget.

Not the best start to our season. No wins, no goals and one point.

The Transfers

OUT

We were never keeping Brodwolf, so a good price and a 50% sell on is a cracking idea. The rest are all squad players, with Grimm whining about not playing, so he was let go

The Eye Test

We are... not good this season. Losing Tim Brodwolf early on meant that our defence took a while to get back to our usual level and Heinz Karner's injury up front left us ridiculously light. The only bright spot really is 16 year old Marius Tomas' emergence

The Transfers
In

  • DM/MC Peter Odeh (£808k, Eintracht Frankfurt)

Peter was a player who had been poached from our youth academy and we could always do with bolstering our team, especially for 5% cashback!

Out

Karimi was the talent that never quite worked out and a move now was best for both parties. Gołuński was talented, but was a victim of a logjam and Konate was never breaking into the first team.

GK - Same as it ever was to be honest. Nothing changes unless Gosslar moves
DR - Return of the Franke! He will rejoin us in the summer and it'll be glorious
DCR - Łuszkiewicz's loan spell at Lech Poznan has really improved him, to the point that we could let Flauder go if we receieved a decent enough offer
DCL - Farhat is our first choice libero. The Rest... ehhhhh
DL - Turgeman is #1. Hagsmeister is....a big #2.... Lanfer is the emergency
DMCR - The talent behind needs to develop. Problem is, who uses a SV???
DMCL - We've got depth and talent in the position. Krauss will probably go out on loan
ML - Our weakest position. Stofer is not first team material and Derichs is just 16
AMR - Fabian Coernen is first choice, but will probably time-share with Tomas at the position
AMC -  Zorn at 19 years old and Wenzel at 18,, we're set for a while here until someone raids us.
ST - Karner is still first choice, but I'm bringing back Henning Kopnick as competition as Schmidt isn't good enough for the Bundesliga

Well.. A quite misleading intake here. Positionally decent, talent-wise, not so much. Let's look at the top 3 prospects

image.thumb.png.ad86c0e9853a543e95030146ececa2a7.png

  • D/DM/MC  Oliver Lovett - Work Rate: 11, Pace 13, Techinque 11 - DNA: Failed

An inauspicious start as not only does Lovett fail the DNA test, but he refused the contract we offered. We'll go back later in the month, but it's not looking good so far

image.thumb.png.cde2e4db82f239d9fbc886405af6deb9.png

  • M/AML/ST  Harald Saidou - Work Rate: 10, Pace 12, Techinque 14 - DNA: Failed

It doesn't get much better here. He'll be retained to the ML position, but his Work Rate needs to up dramatically for him to make it here.

image.thumb.png.3b33e25306a26cd759a774f419cfe877.png

  • M/AMLC  Gábor Harsányi - Work Rate: 9, Pace 16, Techinque 12 - DNA: Failed

Oy. We've now got depth in the ML position, but at what price???

The Eyetest
Our first season back in the Bundesliga was a long, hard slog. We never got out of first gear this season. The odd good result, notwithstanding, we ended up 16th in the Bundesliga and in the Relegation Playoff. We faced DSC Arminia Bielefeld and we triumphed 5-1 on aggregate oever the two legs! Heinz Karner led the way with 14 goals, which is disappointing . We also had a disappointing DfB Pokal campaign, losing to fellow Bundesliga side Borussia Dortmund, 2-1! Stats-wise, we finished 13th on Goals Scored and 14th on Goals Conceded, which showed us that the league was a force to be reckoned with! We need to improve next season.

The Brief

For our sophomore season in 1.Bundesliga, the board brief was to Make The Relegation Playoffs this season, with us to make an effort in the DfB Pokal. Last season was a hard slog and we're looking at much of the same. Our budgets were £788k in the wages and £29.5m transfer budget.

The Results
image.thumb.png.ceb9bf31f137e55cbd2c0d5ea636c271.png

Another poor start. No wins, a spanking by Leipzig and one point.

The Transfers

IN

Well. Possibly our biggest season, regarding incoming transfers, but we needed improving after the poor finish and start to this season. We tried to improve our striking options by resigning Kopnick as a backup, but it's the main problem we have. A solid backup right back was next, as Drazen Susak was courted by many clubs this season at offers around £20m. Spyros was a poached academy player which could be useful for us, if we're raided in January. Jarosch became available for £7.75m and it was a no-brainer, especially as we'd get 50% of that back, especially as we had very little talent on the left side. Finally, Mohr was made available on deadline day. People were offering £15-17m for him, but the moment we came in for a loan, he moved within a day as he loves us.

OUT

We actually sold him last season, but it would have left us extremely light on the left, so I delayed the sale until the end of the season

image.thumb.png.3bb2158c6f462161b3f7ea02276f66ed.png

  • GK  Fabian Demmig - Work Rate: 11, Pace 11 - DNA: Passed

Whew. We really needed some goalkeeping talent, as Gosslar will probably move on in the summer

  • D/DM/MC Daniel Flauder - Work Rate: 12, Pace 11, Technique 14 - DNA: Passed

Daniel's brother Andreas is already in our team and if he can match his brother in progression, we should have a decent pairing.

Holy, wow. This guy will go right to the top if he can improve.

This is next season's lineup without moves, including any transfers made in/out for the beginning of next season. Let's look through to see when/where there are issues.

GK - Same as it ever was to be honest. Nothing changes unless Gosslar moves, which he will do in the summer. Urbig played the Cup Final due to injuries and makes it to third choice here
DR - Same as last season, if Franke can keep fit
DCR - Logjam! This is again, predicated on Flauder a) moving or b) moving to backup libero
DCL - Farhat is our first choice libero. The Rest... ehhhhh. Lanfer is hanging in there.
DL - Turgeman is #1. Hagsmeister is....a big #2.... Etim is a shot in the dark
DMCR - Kulikov probably wont be signed past his contract ending and if I get a decent offer, he's gone.
DMCL - Our strongest position, now Mohr has resigned. Problem is, neither he or Murati can play the SV role
ML - Jarosch came back and we're back to how it used to be
AMR - Fabian Coernen is first choice, barring injury and Karagoz shone at Fenerbache a season ago, so he gets the nod here.
AMC -  Tomas moves from the wing to the middle and immediately becomes first choice. Everyone shunts down.
ST - Karner is still first choice, as Kopnick scored a few, but couldn't displace him. Schmidt returns to be sold.
