Moonshine
How on Earth are they pronounced?!?? - Yxhults IK A Youth-Only Save in Sweden Welcome to Sweden, were I've decided in my wisdom to start a Youth-only save in FM22. I've never done a Youth-only save, but I have good memories of Sweden from FM12 or 13, as I like how many leagues it has, how **** it is, and when I spotted a club with a name I genuinely have no idea how to pronounce - and with a sick badge to boot - I decided it was only right and proper to manage there. Google tells me surprisingly little about Yxhults, especially for a club founded in 1929. We're based in the little town of Kumla, known for its history of shoemaking and for hosting the largest prison in Sweden, the Kumlaanstalten, or Kumla Institution. A commuter town 15 kilometres from Orebro, it seems a bit... Didcot... to me. Well, we'll have to put it on the map. THE RULES Rules is rules. This will be an @Jimbokav1971style youth save (definitely a trademark), where we can sign players, but only those who have come through our youth generation, or been poached. I'll be on instant-result. I'm also a terrible FM player, so likelihood of going up, staying up, or any real progress at any decent speed is low. Moonshine
Yxhults IK 2022 Swedish Division 2 Norra Gotaland Preseason Sweden, as you'll probably be aware, run a Summer league to avoid the cold and the snow, so we kickstart the game straight into March 2022. The squad is decent, with Jens Johansen, our Norwegian AMC, looking like the brightest spark - and the first person to leave as soon as he's humanly able to get out of the door. A shame, but we'll use and abuse him this year. We could do with a DR or two. Expectations: The club isn't exactly demanding the world. We're predicted mid-table (7th of 15, to be precise), and the board... well, they're fairly happy where they are Pre-season: Clean, simple and easy, mostly against amateur sides. No idea what it means, but we had hattricks from four different players, which can only be a good thing, right?

Moonshine
Yxhults IK 2022 Swedish Division 2 Norra Gotaland April They really work you in the Swedish fourth division... We may not be attractive, but we have been efficient, and defensively solid too. The loss to BK Forward - 1-19 favourites to win the league - was impressive; the 2-0 loss at home to local rivals, and bottom three loungers, IFK Kumla was an odd one. I think I'm putting it down to going attacking, and killing off my counter-press (that was knackering the players when they played every three days), under the false assumption it would be easy. To be fair we out shot and out possessed them, but not much more. With eight goals from seven players, we sit a very happy 2nd.
Moonshine
Yxhults IK 2022 Swedish Division 2 Norra Gotaland May We aren't what you'd call and exciting team to watch, by any stretch. We've also decided that inconsistency is the way forward. Frankly, it was a pretty poor month. We'll stick with it, but if the goalscoring remains this dried up, I might make a few tweaks and changes. Somehow we remain third, but we've played an extra game and won't be there for long. Moonshine
Yxhults IK 2022 Swedish Division 2 Norra Gotaland Youth Preview Let's see, shall we? Moonshine
Around the World: 2021/22 I'm always a fan of the bigger picture of how things are going in the big five leagues. So, here, have an update. England: Champions: Liverpool UCL: Man United, Chelsea, Mancity Relegated: Newcastle (), Brighton, Norwich Spain Champions: Real Madrid Germany Champions: Bayern (x10) Italy Champions: Inter (x2) France Champions: PSG Champions League: Man Utd 0-4 Bayern (St. Petersburg Arena, St. Petersburg) Europa League: Real Sociedad 0-1 Barcelona (Ramon Sanchez-Pizjuan, Sevilla) Europa Conference League: Tottenham 1-0 Roma (Air Albania Stadium, Tirana)
Moonshine
Yxhults IK 2022 Swedish Division 2 Norra Gotaland June Quite why I needed to play seven games in April, when I only had three in June is anyone's guess. Also, I've no idea why I don't have a cup to play in. But a much more decent month, including a brilliant win against BK Forward who are far too good for this league. Shame about the loss to Ahlafors. Happy in 5th. I think this is about where we'll finish.

Moonshine
Yxhults IK 2022 Swedish Division 2 Norra Gotaland July Top month all round, with Petterson smashing in 5 (including a hattrick against our local rivals in what is clearly the most exciting match I've had). Just the one loss, and its looking like a mini league of three for the layoff position... I sort of hope we don't make it, as it's only going to get harder from here. Timetxu
Good luck in Sweden! I've hardly see anyone do a youth-only there but it feels like it can actually be one of the most rewarding. Also, I've no idea why I don't have a cup to play in. But a much more decent month, including a brilliant win against BK Forward who are far too good for this league. Shame about the loss to Ahlafors. On the cup - its totally baffling. According to this wikipedia article (last updated in 2015) the first round is done by the top ranked team in each region... We are based in Orebro Lan - Orebro County - which incorporates the city of Orebro and the surrounding area. It appears, therefore, we only get 1 place in the cup - which makes (some) sense, I think. That said, I don't understand why Orebro Syrianska, who are Division 1 North, didn't play this year, whereas the Orebro team who seem to be in the cup are Karlsunds IF of Division 2 Sodra Svealand As far as I can gather, the teams that matter to me are: Orebro Syrianska - D1N Karlsunds IF - D2SS Yxhults IK - D2NG BK Forward - D2NG Kumla BK - D2NG So, theoretically, the top team out of those 5 ought to play in the cup next year? So probably Orebro Syrianska, but perhaps BK Forward when they get promoted? I'll keep an eye on this. EDIT: Oh, hang on, BK Forward also played in the first round of the cup. Which continues to beg the question as to why Orebro Syrianska didn't qualify. But it does mean there might be 2 spots in the cup? Perhaps? Moonshine
Yxhults IK 2022 Swedish Division 2 Norra Gotaland August It started so well, and then petered off so sharply. For some reason my players have all become unhappy at a promise I made in a team meeting that I haven't fulfilled - no idea what promise, or when - but that coincided with two matches where I conceded three, which I can only assume is related. Stenungsunds won with a hattrick from their captain, a ridiculous 6'6" Dion Dublin-esque DC/ST with an 18 for jumping reach. Had we won those two matches we would, ridiculously, have been top of the league. Three games left, though, and we're looking decent.

Moonshine
Yxhults IK 2022 Swedish Division 2 Norra Gotaland Youth Intake Thank Christ. Moonshine
Yxhults IK 2023 Swedish Division 2 Norra Gotaland Preseason So we lost a couple of players out of contract, but the squad is - of course - otherwise the same. Expectations: The club remains happy with a top half finish, though the media seem to think that - despite the squad getting smaller - we'll finish fourth. I doubt that. Moonshine
Yxhults IK 2023 Swedish Division 2 Norra Gotaland August Not quite as good, but we made up for our first loss in 12 with an immediate victory against top-of-the-table Karlslunds, to take us above them. We're lucky to stay there after the two draws that followed, but we're getting more and more out of it. With five to play, there's two points in it. We play bottom club Kumla, which is great, but also second place Oddevold. It's anyone's title.

Moonshine
I decided to actually play my last game, at home to 7th place Assyriska. I needed to win, for Oddevold to lose (at home to 5th placed Varmbois) and a three goal swing. 'Lo, it started well - and then got better as Omar Farazj scored in the 22nd minute for me. One more goal, from either Varmbois or I... Alas. But lots of time... We went into the break 1-0 up, and came out swinging. Over at Oddevold, it stayed 1-1, before, disastrously, Assyriska equalized. Very Attacking it was... An error it turned out, as Assyriska went 2-1 up, and my hopes faded. A third and a fourth came in the last fifteen minutes, as we went for it still, and that, as they say, was that. Two Oddevold goals in the 86th and 88th minutes gave insult to injury. A run of eight games without a win, and we lost out on the playoffs by six points. Edited October 29, 2021 by Moonshine

Moonshine
Yxhults IK 2023 Swedish Division 2 Norra Gotaland Youth Intake Hooray! As before, the vagaries of when our prospects come through means they don't form a 'squad' as all the u-19s are on holiday on their arrival. So I signed everyone (they were all 'good' or above), and bunged them into the u-19s to showcase, moving the current u-19s to the reserves, albeit briefly. The squad isn't great, but we ought to have made the playoffs last season, so... Expectations: Top half again. I'll be happy with top four, I'd love the playoffs... Not sure why I'm predicted down in 10th, though Oddevold and Motala are definitely the best teams in the division... Pre-season: Nonsense and pointless, except for fitness and injuring Jonathan Lengyel, my DL, for two months.

Not quite the level of first-team ready players that @Jimbokav1971 or @Makoto Nakamura seem to be getting, mind, and I'm worried about next season - when we'll be losing our first-choice and fourth choice DCs, with no one to replace them, and will be down to 13 non-regens. Of those regens, none have more than 1.5 stars of CA... so it could be a struggle; and definitely will be if we get promoted (though I'll obviously invest anything I make in the youth setup!) Moonshine
Yxhults IK 2024 Swedish Division 2 Norra Gotaland August Five wins from five, a goal from a youth product, the 19th of the season from our striker, two goals in a game from our centre back following a rejig of our corner routines... what's not to love? And with everyone else continuing to take points off one another, given how tight the league is - 2 points between 2nd and 6th - we go into the run-in 8 points clear with four to play. Beat Skovde in our next match, and the playoffs are all but guaranteed. (13 now) Edited November 6, 2021 by Moonshine
Moonshine
Yxhults IK 2024 Swedish Division 2 Norra Gotaland September An early loss, a win, and then a loss when a draw would win the league put me on the spot into the last game. I was a goal and three points ahead - so I needed a draw at least; my loss and Skovde's win would send me to the playoffs. So, having played in person - and lost - the game against Linkoping, I took charge of a defensive game away against early favourites Motala. And, a penalty, two missed (one aside) and a red (for Motala) in a thriller sent me up with a 2-0 win. Amazing. But just. We made it hard. A Skovde loss made it look simpler.
