March 2028

It was good to put up some points on the board this month after some recent poor form, it was also a pleasing display against Spurs, if we had taken some chances we could easily have won but never mind

Not sure who that game in hand is against but it would be nice to open a little gap up if we can, still sitting a great position though anyway

March 2028

When I looked at the fixtures, I thought this was death month part 2, but with a pleasing effort against Spurs in the cup (using a lot of 2nd stringers) we were quietly optimistic.

First up, City, our english wingers were injured so our front 3 ended up being all the new signings which i  think was the first time I've tried this - but boy it worked, 2 minutes in and we've scored! I thought if we can hang on to half time I'll park the bus, then I changed my mind and thought I've done that before and lost, lets see how it goes... not long after half time, free kick, top bin, 2-0! I did put it on Park the Bus eventually but wow, what a result! We've never beat City before!!

Next up, Spurs, I figured I'd go with the exact same line up and I got the exact same start, 1st minute, goal! we then put a corner away straight after and again managed to cling on for most of the game until parking right at the end, which actually led to a Harry Kane penalty. Another cracker of a result for the club!

3rd game in month of death, Liverpool, surely, they are due to beat us for the first time... Same lineup again though and it took us 11 minutes to score, an eternity! This time Liverpool replied straight away, so I thought this was the end of the run, that was until the 42' min where we took the lead again, it's back on! Oh no...  Liverpool equalised in injury time... They also took the lead in the 62' minute so I figured that was that, all until a double salvo from Garay and De luca, to take the lead back in the 80' - wow, a famous run, taking down 3 premier league giants in consecutive fixtures! Incredible!!!

Now we get a slight reprieve after some heavy fixtures and we face already relegated Brighton. But I will let this screenshot speak for itself

8b43bb0214432d540ef84a96e752792c.png

But let me tell you what this all means:
-Garay misses a peno to put us 4-1 up.
-It would have also been his hat trick!
-Etete hasn't played for months but comes on to give us a 3-2 lead in the 79'
-Kubo injury means Brighton have to play with 10 men
-Cottam took the ball round the keeper rather than spannering a 1 on 1 for a win in the 96'

It was incredible to watch!

After that, our final fixture was C. Palace, we scored the goal of the month to take the lead, let it slip but finished the game off by capitalising on a corner (boring really)

An absolutely crazy and entertaining month to be a Chester fan! Well worth the long trips to the DW in Wigan!

An undefeated month does put us in contention for the Euro Cup II whatever that is...

May 2028

A tricky month to finish off the season and results were pretty much as expected, we also didnt get away without a trouncing so that's a shame - but might be due to Hoey being ineligible to face his parent club Chelsea

d883151c22dbed87c75f919dbf9ebcf2.png

A significant improvement on position and points return this year, not quite enough for Europe, but with our squad I think that might be a blessing

8b8bba4bc3b152033798f12ffa1a9665.png

So we will look to bring in some signings and go again next year, we have a good base now!

Season Summary 27/28

Here is the team of the year:

3ca67534f98d4dc67bcf6beab02b35b2.png

A bit of a shocker that Danilo Garay doesn't make it - Nothangel's success this year seemed to come mainly from the cup runs, the magic of the cup I suppose?

De Luca was class which was good.

Interestingly the goal scoring game from Nothangel (12 from 36) and Garay (10 from 33) and De Luca (10 from 34) - the next best was Chandler (8 from 38)

Sephton was a great signing at RB so that was great and Hoey had another year of excelling at CB, but he wont come back as he has done enough to impress Frank at Chelsea.

I still struggle to find a midfield that makes me go wow and I was surprised that Zach Dronfield was still making a worthy effort for his place.

Whilst we did well in the league this year, we still dont really compete in the cups and the FA Cup progress this year was probably down to the draw more than our ability but that will  come I think.

All in all, our best year yet!

Transfers Summer 2028

So we seem to have surpassed the free transfer market now - There is a point where you take on the best players because they are great and free but now they are just going to overload positions and cause selection headaches so they will mainly be luck from here on in if we get any freebies that improve the squad.

So the next thing is to look at the WP issue - £5.75mil is the magic number this year, so my first search is to scout players who look decent and have release clauses in the 6-10mil range... we got a couple.

We have a lovely warchest of £80mil or so, so here are the Transfers In

Flavio Munoz (£8.25mil)

4775edb37877b201efc8616240a91cae.png

This will easily be our best midfielder and at £8mil this was a steal, he can tackle and pass, decent physicality too. I am looking forward to this guy getting started!

Diego Hezze (£5.75mil)

c0bd744e22a40ba89bab922bc97974d0.png

The scouts like this guy, he does look good but I am a bit concerned about that 10 team work. I reckon I'll make a profit if it doesn't work out anyway but fingers crossed...

Levan Kavelashvili (£60mil - not a typo, our record signing!)

edade84d5dc73f0739c4895519aaa965.png

I've been after this guy for at least 2 years, West Brom got promoted last season so he wouldnt come, but they went back down so I thought it would be now or never or the Euro qualified teams would be in and I'd never get him. Hopefully this guy works out as my LB for the next 10 years. He was born in Georgia but declared for England for some reason, surprised he hasnt been capped yet, he looks better than Tomori to me...

Abdoulaye Diaw (£8mil)

428a1e9a7f3302b7f815551c6ac2a59d.png

Not as good as Hoey, so a slight concern, I imagine next year I will splash the cash on a superstar (already know who!) but Diaw will have to do the job for this campaign!

Jim McKenzie (free)

7cc1bb9e89638092037c7f2e4225ed74.png

I think he looks better than Etete, so I'm going to cash in, I doubt this guy will really get many games.

Ruben Moreau (£5.75mil)

c13e7d2ce806b16003737a35a72e0581.png

A more defensive option for RB and will provide cover as Halliday was released.

We also had a few departures, mainly clearing out of players who were no longer good enough, here are the transfers out

Ross Sykes, Chesterfield £400k - made 39 appearances over 3 seasons, went out on loan last year, never really made it beyond a backup squad player so we cash in.

Liam McAlinden, Birmingham £900k - made 80 or so appearances after joining us for free in League 2. A great servant to the club and really helped us progress.

Elijah Dixon-Bonner, Charlton £200k - 90 appearances in 4 years. He did ok but we just have better players now so he falls victim to progress, a good buy for Charlton I'm sure.

Keanan Bennetts, Ingolstadt £400k - 29 appearances in 2 years, I got him for free but he didnt really improve the squad and had quite high wages so off he goes!

Kion Etete

If anyone deserves a sending off post it is this man, as I mentioned we've brought in another striker and with 1 year left on his contract, we will cash in on Etete.

I actually went through and counted, this is a player we got for free and made 222 appearances if you count the lot - he also managed a respectable 117 goals - not shabby given that he started with us in League 2 and carried on all the way to our first season in the Premier League as our number 9

Kion Etete, a club favourite, we salute you and say goodbye!

Preseason and August 2028

This was really weird - our stadium expansion was finished, yet we played a game there, then went back to the DW for our first bit of silverware when we won the Friendly cup :D

No idea how that worked out but there you go

255243072bd002bbbdff229e37d5d259.png

It was nice to see our stadium now have a 2 tier set of stands and now has a 20,600 capacity.

cb02d367fb9a080995eb76be79f1d686.jpg

But anyway, this is a results business! We finally got beat by Liverpool, also had a disappointing defeat to Brentford, but rotated for the cup and won which was nice as we had an easy draw.

September 2028

We couldnt hold on to an early lead against Chelsea, but we managed to beat everyone else this month. Conceded more goals than I'd like but I think that might be the consequence of a defensive downgrade this year.

October 2028

A couple of wins to start the month, we went out the Milk Cup to Chelsea, but that was to be expected - probably our best run here, we dont usually do well so that's ok. Annoying draw to Wolves - when the strikers aren't scoring you know something isn't going well.

November 2028

Nearly another death month, but for the fixture with Burnley at the end. We did well, beating 2 top teams we've never managed to beat- the result against City also doesn't reflect that we held on for most of the game and gave away a late peno which is when it fell apart. The Burnley result was frustrating as they scored in the last 15 seconds - 1 of the centre halfs decided not to move over to cover the centre forward which let them in for a 1 on 1... which they obviously convert. I think if I set him to cover rather than defend, he would have been there, but hey ho.

69508244edee32250841c2c37b3d527f.png

We slipped out the top 4, but still well into the Europa places, so that's good progress. We did lose De Luca to a sprained ankle so we might struggle for the next few weeks, but we will see.

December 2028

A decent set of results, Spurs and Villa are good sides so not too much harm done. A goal frenzy with Bournemouth followed by domination of Aldershot despite the close score.

I'm not sure why 7th isn't a Euro spot anymore, but we are doing well still so let's go!

January 2029

A decent set of results, although annoying that I can put 4 past Liverpool and none past Millwall who were 20th at the time.

ecd679a6c2524c986ea85cfbc22d685c.png

We continue to get easy draws in the cup, so that's probably our best year on that front and we are sitting pretty in the league too

45469591cfbabc671b34ce0a809b456a.png

Also, worth noting, Nothangel is really hitting form with 8 goals in 4 this month

No doubt helped by impressive Munoz in midfield

February 2029

Well, 2 more results where they were high scoring and we lost leads. Annoying but I suppose our GK was injured. A change in tactic seemed to set things right. Was also fun to see the Sunderland goal come from our former winger - Deji Sotana!

c34a2ee6f4bdce3a5a8bdb233f5fe041.png

We keep a respectable European Challenge on the go

711ae75c172a810e0b30340fb2f8e494.png

I also spotted a winger available on a free, whilst the scouts aren't too impressed, I can't say no to high dribble/cross stats. So I'll probably cash in on Gary Chandler in summer.

March 2029

An ok month as far as fixtures go, shame we couldnt keep up with City as we bettered  them in the first half I would say. Nice to get a trip to Wembley, even if our FA Cup run has almost all been teams in lower divisions... we will take it! Also nice to see young McCormick chipping in with a couple of goals.

2ee4421f5586456b5c5da46b92ca2075.png

This means we retain our place in the Europa spots this month...

85a1a1f68d341f4e379f39632d31427b.png

The youth intake was so poor, I can't be bothered to do a specific post for it, there was 1 interesting player - a left back called Blake, we already have a senior player who is a left back called Blake so I might see if he is good enough so that Blake can retire and Blake can take his place, just for fun...

April 2029

I didnt notice at the time, but our Arsenal result is the same as our City result, but that is where the similarities end- we got battered 3-0 and then pulled 2 back which was a bit annoying. Changed things a bit and went on a good run starting with a demolition of Wolves though so that's good. It stopped at Southampton, in the prematch bit, it seems like they are a bit of a bogey team for me, I've not beat them very much for a mid table team.

9df460cf1669839db86cd388a9599754.png

That keeps us in the Europa spots, I guess results have gone our way as well, given we had 2 losses so hopefully we can hang on in the last few games.

b0cf68e2b2b0dfe717b3b0cfff412b7a.png

That just leaves the small matter of an FA Cup Semi Final! I think this is only my 2nd trip to Wembley so I'm keen to overturn a 100% loss record but it will be tough against Chelsea!

It was quite an even game but we took our chances and went in 2-0 up at half time, it didnt take us long after half time to score again, but Chelsea managed to regroup and pull 2 back. Not too long after that we lost our centre half to a red card, so I basically just went to a 4-4-1 and parked the bus. It was just about enough, we are through to the final!!

(Half of...) May 2029

I thought I'd post now, as the league is over and I'll do a specific update for the final game of the season...

a30e38710ed9b5c29b181292681bba70.png

We went down to 10 men against Chelsea again but also managed to go 2-0 up before half time by some miracle. We put another one away in the 2nd half and apparently find it easier to beat them with 10 than 11... After that, we knew we would have a tough game against Sheffield as they were fighting for their survival, but as we had secured Europa football, I went with a McCormick in the 10 role and what a decision it was - a wonderous strike from him separated the teams for a 3-2 win and secured a 5th placed finish in the league... our best ever!

9568fb15ad17284d3085f4339919e8ce.png

I had no idea, but Nothangel managed to smash the scoring charts this year... I knew Munoz and Nothy were good but didnt realise it was best in league good! Really pleased with that. Slightly concerned we top the yellow card chart, but I guess we just need to work on our defence, we are scoring well!

60af7156c7e5d22325f23eac8ea89d2f.png

The awards are coming in all over the place, Nothy also made players team of the year:

(The other half of...) May 2029

We start well, taking the lead via a corner goal from Diaw, but City equalise almost immediately afterwards. Kavi then picks up the ball from a cross on the far side and smashes us back into the lead early in the 2nd half but it only took about 8 minutes before City were equal again. That took us through to Extra time - an evenly contested game overall.

For some reason, the game didnt show the 3rd goal we scored, I have no idea what happened! But once again, City equalised soon after.

We went through to penos and lost 4-2 - I think our best taker was rated 11 so that was always going to happen haha.

Maybe the lesson after losing 3 leads was probably not to stick on gegenpress, but you live and learn.

End of Season 28/29

A fairly predictable Team of the year, the only surprise for me was McCormick pushed McCoist out of the team

e17e0539d9f1d270e935b3b1cb61a1e8.jpg

We kept the team fairly consistent this year, but that's easily done without European football - That has probably been the enabler for Nothngaels goal scoring form. We should probably point out De Lucas contribution and also Munoz coming in with 15 assists this year:

fc8dea6dfafff7678a4da80975b998bb.png

We lost 12 games which is more than the teams around us -  I think I will be looking at centre backs and maybe a goalkeeper in the transfer window. I suppose I have to consider I will be bulking the squad a bit as opposed to just improving the first 11s quality this time so a different challenge for me coming up

2029 - Pre-Season

So here are the fixtures - as usual, I dont care in the slightest.

b4578ac2ca28e03d553c6d41bb0769ec.png

Of more interest is the transfers

73989305589b9a82f7c45c1a16ec5d68.png

I think Marchesi, despite being cheapest is our most important purchase, hopefully he is an upgrade to the back line

30ae8364585cecbcb3c98aee4dffce9f.png

Hillson looks quality, and we managed to sell Danilo Garay for £30mil to Borussia Moch' so activating his release clause was a no brainer.

e3f0bd29527151eb559b10ea41174c6c.png

Finally, another release clause to try and add some graft to midfield. Probably essential with the added Europa fixtures this year

6ab13d4db1083d7407dc48211c6c81e6.png

As I mentioned, we let Garay go for £30mil which was all profit as he came in on a free, a return of 15 goals in about 50 was a bit meh so seemed the right decision. With the arrival of Marchesi, we also let Mengi go, he was 4th choice so it seemed only fair to let him go at age 27. We got £3.2mil for him - again all profit. Generally good business for the club I think to recoup a lot of what we spent.

August 2029

First mention to some deadline day news, we looked at alternative goalkeeping options and Valencia wanted like 40mil for this guy, but then on deadline day a load of clubs started making offers, not big clubs either which was weird and for some reason Valencia were asking for £400k. Bargain! I went for it and signed him, not really thinking of the WP issues, so immediately sent him out to Leverkeusen. We will see how that goes - I'm sure I'll profit if I can't sort that WP...

6d486cdaee0e14a8abe196a0a3d89559.png

I then checked the season preview and was pleased to note I've moved up from 1000-1 relegation candidates according to the bookies. Even better, I have a player in the team to look out for thing. We are moving forwards!

ab46b212d9dad3b92edd3cdf9fc1f5bf.png

Anyway, this month the season started with some easy fixtures and we won them all, we made a meal of the Villa fixture and probably should have won the Wolves game 5-0 but hey ho. A perfect record is a perfect record!

A mixed bag, perfection in Europe, below par results in the league, but some tough opposition and a hard exit in the Milk Cup :(

Less fixtures this month, an international break to let some of the players recuperate and get back in to the squad and that gave us a perfect month!

The Soton win was tight, the goal was a bit mad...

The OM win meant we had qualified and the Aberdeen result mean we qualify 1st (perfect record after 5 - Europa has been quite easy - might explain why the fixtures dont seem to be on tele!!)

Beating United was nice, even if I was being a taxi to Mrs Profii and missed the goals ha ha.

That puts us on the cusp of the CL spots, so hopefully we can push on.

December 2029

A mixed result, firstly we rounded off our Europa Group stage with a perfect set of 6 wins. Great!
We started to put together a good run of games but that came to a crashing halt when we got absolutely battered by Chelsea. I decided to do something I've never done before and absolutely destroy my team at every opportunity - in the team talk, in the press conference, got them in for extra training and what a reaction at WBA!
I was a bit disappointed with  the City result as well, I have lost twice to them already this year, so I tried a DM instead of an AMC, pinched the first goal and thought great, but their quality shone for the rest of the game and we got done again :(

A decade over, results wise we did as expected I think, apart from a draw at Brighton I guess

53c3f00b3aebf7cfcf631e93cc6bd555.png

We seem to have a by in the Europa league, not sure if that is luck of the draw or winning the group, but either way, less fixtures works for me

We went through 2 rounds of the FA Cup and got WBA in the next round so that is favourable too.

We have slipped out of the CL places, but it's very close so there is every chance we can pull it back...

Bit of transfer news, Chelsea spent £24mil on my keeper, so I've replaced him - expensive wages but that's the norm when you go out to the middle east - and improving the GK position has been on my to do list for a while... Quite pleased, bought Mair for £800k and sold for £24mil, then replaced for £10mil... profit!!

March 2030

Getting towards the business end of the season and we still haven't lost for a while which is promising.
Weird set of results but 2 good ones in taking 4 points from Chelsea and Arsenal...

A couple of FA cup wins earns us a semi final at Wembley with Man Utd so that is good.

We can also see how things will play out in the Europa League now starting with a tough draw against Juve after beating Lyon...
We started with an away fixture and a great start, but Lyon did claw back 2 goals to go in equal between games...

I was pleased with the away goal advantage coming back home and capitalised easily...

April 2030

A fair few fixtures as we approach the business end of things. A solid set of results too.

In the league, we grabbed a  few wins with the easier fixtures and managed to rotate to have our best players available in the cups... That also went well as you can see in the Juve... I mean Zebre results (I hope they are not nerf'd because they are not Juve?)

Total domination in both legs of the Europa...

We then had a trip to Wembley and managed to get past United via a late penalty... we will take it for successive final appearances!

At this point, I was informed that I'm in the title race... I honestly hadn't noticed...

So we went and got 2 draws in our trickiest fixtures, whilst City won their game in hand... Still more than happy with 2nd!

May 2030

We started with the Europa League, we disposed of RB Leipzig fairly easily - adding a DM for the away leg then an AMC for home seemed to work well...

Inbetween those 2 fixtures, we had Villa, we were lucky to draw and that was really our title race done, not that we were really in it... strange one!
However, some good results to finish the season and somehow we finish joint top on points, the low league winning total of 80. 2nd Lowest in a decade...

That leaves the cups...

First up, Liverpool at Wembley for the FA Cup, the team was obviously up for it as we smashed Liverpool 4-0, despite a recent 1-1 draw... champions!

Then finally, we travel to Stade Pierre Mauroy in Lille for our Europa League final against Leverkusen... again we were always in control of the fixture, although they did start to catch up near the end, we were never worried!

We've done the double!

He's going to be my striker for the next 10 years... How he wasnt making a dent in the championship I dont know but a £36mil release clause meant I snapped Swanseas hands off... 37 in 37 in total!

What has happened to Arsenal...

Not sure - they were 3rd last season and looking at their transfer history they dont seem to have any expensive leavers so doesn't seem to be that

I have noticed this season that I've got some players who are foreign but not internationals so they are coming to me and asking for transfers because of the WP rules so maybe their key players are among the 1000 players arsenal loaned out last year

No idea!

Transfers 2030

Played quite a bit offline (travelling) so I'll fly through this bit

Outs

We sold Eusebio Valero for £10mil without any appearances for the club - he couldnt get a permit so he went out on loan last year, the Leverkeusen manager didnt play him as planned so £9.5mil profit for me - still not sure how i got him for £400k but the risk was clearly worthwhile taking and paid off...

Zach Dronfield went for £1.2m - after 142 league appearances he was just no longer getting any games so despite being captain, the only sensible option was to ship him out.

We also got rid of another player who couldnt get a game, yet for some reason wanted to stick around £2.5m for Jake Rooney after 101 appearances and 4 goals, we broke even so that's good.

Now the frustrating transfers
Abdoulaye Diaw (20m to PSG) and Ruben Moreau (10m to Fenerbache) - 2 high ticket transfers which is fine but they both had a place in the team so I didnt really want to see them go, but, neither are internationals so either cash in or lose for free next year. Silly WP rules.

But that does mean I brought some players in...

Michel Miller - 18,5mil - a slight profit on the centre half swap, and 2 goals in 14 so far for this promising young centre half. Seems an improvement on Diaw to be fair.

0cb895d30019fc52b8c872d9b167927b.png

Angelo Valenzuela - 12mil - a slight loss, so overall broke even on brexit enforced transfers. Looks solid defensively but not a lot going forward-  probably will use him in games where I'm going to be on the back foot

607e49c84e517243044271a63710067a.png

Max Fink - 60mil - The marquee signing this year is an upgrade to centre midfielder, I needed a hard worker and the market was fairly thin so hopefully he can do the job.

aa53f4551795fd163d32acfef9e48077.png

Juan Loto - 5.5mil -  I tried signing this guy last year as he had high potential and offered him silly money for the WP issue. I possibly have shot myself in the foot if he doesnt get on to the international stage any time soon, either that, or I'll try and massively profit.

July - October 2030

As I mentioned, I have been playing a fair bit offline so a big update at once...

Firstly, let's look at those cups...

Community Shield.

b29da7a43a03d881674d1743a2900953.png

We did our best to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory in this game - we had a 2 goal lead and threw it away then lost on penalties. Shame but good sign that we can keep up with City I guess.

Next up was the Euro Super Cup, interesting that Inter won the Champions League but that just means I fancied my chances!

12b57c6ffd3d97f5df1993049ca737fd.png

I was right to as we made a flying start, although Inter pegged one back, we were pretty much in control the whole game so a new trophy in the cabinet! Hurrah!

So, back to the premier league. We are doing really well this year, I dont feel like my team is the best in the world but they work together well as it's been quite steady for a while (which is why I'm really frustrated with the forced WP transfers!) our first loss was to liverpool - despite the score looking close we were nowhere near them so a fair win to them.

I was pleased to get revenge against City after losing to them in the CS and just losing to Liverpool - we were much better even though there was 1 goal in it.

Beyond that, we seem to be able to win everywhere else in the league now so things are coming together really well.

I played the kids in the Milk Cup and contested Man Utd quite well but despite entering in the 3rd round i was quite happy to go out with all these games.

As far as Europe is concerned, we got a lesson from Real Madrid, but I was pleased to beat Roma (Although I went into the game thinking if I can beat CL champs Inter, surely I can beat Roma, I also beat Juve last year so this should be ok...)

Overall, that puts us 2nd in both our leagues which is just fine at this point...

Some tricky fixtures this month, but we picked up points all the way through. The West Ham game was a struggle and we only just managed to win, only leading after the last goal for the last minute!

That puts us top of the prem and in the driving seat for our CL group!

Dec 30 to Jan 31

In the league we have ground out a lot of solid results, a couple of draws, but that's ok. We only needed a draw to keep our spot in the CL so that was also fine!

2nd in the league is great, haven't really had too many big fixtures so that'll probably change but still good, also, got a draw against Bayern Munich - tough!

In transfer news Agustin De Luca sadly signed  a pre-contract deal with Valencia, but I did notice our long term target, Alban Lluca is available for the steal price of £13m - English and 5 star PA, been watching him for a couple of years and I think he will be a good buy.

February and March 2031

Been busy again so lost track of monthly updates

d95fad924721c80d1cd2a7addd23c83e.png

We did well in the league in Feb, but a couple of iffy draws in March - we only just caught up with good subs against Villa, then how we lost our lead to Newcastle, who are in the relegation zone, god only knows :(

A couple of good FA Cup results sets up a semi against City, which will be the final as the other side is much easier tbh.

We did get knocked out by Munich which was pretty much expected after the loss at home in the 1st leg.

We retain our top spot, but some tricky fixtures to go...

April 2031

Bit of a death month and we lost all the big games... Including a FA Cup Semi with City on pens :(

1c3e3a7bd5fd3c9589270a2de15050d9.png

Somehow, City have a game in hand so the title is in their hands at the moment, but our victory against West Ham means we are likely in the CL next year

Last game of the season is at City, so it could be close!!
