  1. I started a Swindon save this year. I am currently in season 2 after winning the league. I didn't sign anyone in season 1 initially, but after a bit of time with the squad I found Kian Williams on a free (he used to play in Iceland!) He hasnt been awe inspiring but a safe pair of hands never the less. It's been a couple of years since I've played FM properly tbh so getting promoted and trying to gauge the level of players I needed for League 1 did not come naturally and I tried to sign anyone who looked better than I had and would actually sign from the free players list. Here is who I ended up with: Amadou Bakayoko - Target man, I dont usually go for Target men, but the guy I had on loan season 1 was banging in the goals so I snapped this guy up and he is doing really well Dominic Corness - centre midfielder who is average Christian Maghoma - has settled in as 3rd choice centre back behind Swindons original pairing Levi Laing - 4th choice centre back, will probably get replaced/upgraded when market allows Jack Hunter - back up BWM, probably not good enough but needed extra bodies in midfield and he was all I could get (cheap wages though) Aaron McGowan - full back that can play either side, very handy to have in the squad Dimitar Mitov - Needed a goalie after my first season goalie returned to his parent club, took a gamble on a this guy who got relegated from L1 but he seems to be doing ok - he does get international call ups which is a bit annoying Demeaco Duhaney - A solid RB Kyle McAllister - relatively expensive and not that exciting but a decent enough player Callum Jones - a really really good BWM but needs an understudy or will get tired Then in Jan Clarke Odour - £35k - needed an extra winger so found this guy who's contract was running out hence the price I am sitting comfortably in the playoff spots, not sure if my signings are great, the AI is underestimating the promoted teams or if the players I did have are decent but seems to be going well.
  2. The players had to remind the ref to book him, he is an awful ref for sure
  3. France make a 10 yard run and usually exploit the space they create by dragging defenders around, particularly in the first 15 mins England do it and either dive or don't know what to do and pass backwards, very frustrating
  4. England aren't doing a good job in the transition, rice is getting marked out the play and they don't really have a plan b
  5. Any reason it went on so long? Took a break from work to see what football was on today, saw Arg was losing at 96+6 on BBC, turned the tele on at 98 and it just kept going hahaha
  6. Doing this with 2 days notice is nuts. If they had said from the outset that alcohol would be prohibited in line with their laws then that would be fine, it's their country and people would know. I'd love to know how it really played out - like everyone saying Qatar being hosts is corrupt, but if it was that corrupt why pander to FIFA wanting to serve alcohol. I guess there is some internal politics being played there which kind of makes me think they are all pretending everything is legit. Also, BBC are reporting that alcohol will still be available in corporate areas- thats really crazy but probably means it's more a PR distraction from other worse issues.
  7. I said at dinner last night I'm surprised that for an event where there are so many people, we haven't really had any idiots do something stupid yet. I wake up, and here are these stories, I obviously jinxed that, my bad
  8. i get it, i was being slightly facetious - seems like an easy way to have an opportunity to have a constructive protest which has been one of the major debating points over the last few days
  9. in the context of a protest that's what you want tho, when people start objecting to people litter picking as an example to air a view, its a lot harder to try and make the argument 'they shouldnt have their free speech at this time'
  10. if you think religious holidays shouldnt be intertwined with national holidays, sure
  11. i think people can protest that... if the directive is to stop work and mourn, you can do the opposite and find something to do. Even as simple as If the anti-monarchy people organised a litter pick and framed it as "we are doing something because we've been told not to work therefore its a protest". No one is gonna argue that it's offensive like the people heckling the processions.... the only real response is fair enough i respect you have a view. I dont think a protest needs to be destructive/antagonistic to be effective. I reckon a lot of anti monarchists will happily take the day though
  12. Wonder if all the people who complain and such like will try and go to work on Monday
  13. the wording of your contract is annoyingly grey. You only get 25 days holiday, but you have probably already taken 3 or more bank holiday days off this year, meaning they have honoured their statutory obligation to provide you with at least 28 days. Your employers are some shady dudes, they are basically implying the rest of the bank holidays above and beyond 28 days statutory are some kind of favour.
  14. next monday is a public holiday as per the government announcement therefore it is not part of your 25 day allowance and they need to let you have it off stand your ground, its not about the public living crisis, its about them honouring the legal contract they agreed to when they employed you. They shouldnt even be asking people to WFH.
  15. 1. Your employer can make you take holiday if they give you notice, for 1 day of, they have to give 2 days notice, so they can get away with that 2. Gricehead is right about the wording of the contract which you have provided, it's not perfectly clear but I would read that as you get your 25 days + bank holidays, next Monday is now a bank holiday, so you dont need to use any of your 25 day up you are getting a free day, raise it with your management.
  16. I agree with Ackter, the protests are into troll territory I'm not sure what happens to them if the police let them carry on, I'd assume they get chinned?
  17. it's pretty difficult to protest in any fashion without antagonising someone even if you were just there with perfectly inoffensive placards and were entirely peaceful, someone is going to get upset - mainly because you dont share their views. That's just how people are, it would be boring if we were all the same
  18. well the police probably said you need to comply with us because the law you are breaking is BoP (whilst applying a very low threshold to what peace actually constitutes) As I said, not agreeing with it, but I can see how they would interpret/apply the law to get they outcome they want here.
  19. It sounds like he decided to express his view which upset other members of the public attending the event I would guess he was probably asked to leave and perhaps decided not to, stating he just wanted to express his opinion. I would also guess the police interpret that as non-compliance and decided to arrest him and de-arrest him relatively promptly, thats probably their quickest route to removing him from the event 'lawfully' I'm not condoning what they did but that seems like a logical way that situation would play out.
  20. Uk people should check their contracts carefully when it comes to this bank holiday Typically contracts say either 1. 20 days plus bank holidays Or 2. 28 days including bank holidays If you sit under number 2, you essentially have one of your 20 days picked for you, if you are number 1, extra day for you Obviously some people get more than statutory leave and some companies may just say take the day and don't worry about it... but worth checking if they try to be funny
  21. There's gonna be loads of people who have no idea what to do, like radio producers who have some kind of influence over a wide range of people but this has never happened before - probably not high enough up the media food chain that you get a proper briefing and they have to wing it. Country will be a bit lost for a few more days yet I think it's all ok, people are gonna do what they need to do
