Man City Supporter
WSL European Report UEFA Inter-Toto Cup First Round First Leg Shoop Da Woopington United v. Dudelange (Stadium of LAZ0rs, Swansea) The European season 2008-09 kicked off in Swansea with the WSL bronze medalists playing Luxembourg team F91 Dudelange. The ball was first in the net in the 21st minute as Jermaine Defoe got on the end of a parry by the Luxermbourg keeper and put it in the net. However the English ref Lee Mason, blew for offside. In the 27th minute Daniel Kohl went in late on Michael O'connor and was sent off. Despite the one-man advantage that Shoop Da Woopington United had for the rest of the half, it was still goalless at half-time. Three minutes after half-time James Milner crossed the ball into the area and Freddy Eastwood headed the ball into the net. Despite the continued domination of Shoop Da Woop, they were kept out by a Man-of-the-match performance from Gilles Welscher and only managed a 1:0 win. Shoop Da Woopington United 1-0 Dudelange | Match Stats UEFA Inter-Toto Cup First Round Second Leg Dudelange (0) v. Shoop Da Woopington United (1) (Stade Jos Nosbaum, Dudelange) Shoop Da Woopington United had dominated the first leg of their Inter-Toto first round, and they continued to keep the Luxembourgers from having a shot through the first half. However, they couldn't get in a goal, and were still winning at half-time. In the 63rd minute Shoop Da Woop got a cornet which came out of the area to James Milner, who got an increadible goal from 25 yards out to open his Shoop Da Woopington United goal count. Straight from the kick-off Dudelange passed the ball about for a couple of minutes, only for Matthew Lynch to go in on Kevin Hansen with a ridiculous challenge which gave him a definate dismissal. Despite the one-man disadvantage, a few minutes later Woodgate played a lovely pass for Kevin Thomson for a 25 yard goal to give the LAZ0rs a second goal. A third goal came in the 80th minute as Roland Clegg got on the end of a corner. His first shot was saved but he managed to get the rebound past the keeper to score his first goal for S Da W. Two minutes later Milner passed the ball into the box for Freddy Eastwood to make it four and complete the win, putting them into the next round. Dudelang 0-4 Shoop Da Woopington United | Match Stats UEFA Inter-Toto Cup Second Round First Leg FC Norsjælland v. Shoop Da Woopington United (Farum Park, Fraum) The LAZ0rs continued their journey towards the UEFA Cup in Denmark, facing FC Norsjælland. The first goal came in the 25th minute as James Milner crossed to Freddy Eastwood, who scored a half-volley with his left foot. It was still 1-0 at half time. In the 56th minute the 3rd red card in three Shoop Da Woop games as Ledley King brought down the Norsjælland captain Nicklas Pedersen and as he was the last man he was dismissed. FC Norsjælland could not take advantage of this card, and the Swansea team had the advantage after the first leg. FC Norsjælland 0-1 Shoop Da Woopington United | Match Stats UEFA Inter-Toto Cup Second Round Second Leg Shoop Da Woopington United (1) v. FC Norsjælland (0) (Stadium of LAZ0rs, Swansea) Shoop Da Woop had the advantage going into this game, with the winners facing the team which had finished 11th in the Bwin Liga last season, Leiria. The match started with both sides having good chances, and James Milner had the best chance in the 37th minute, hitting the bar. Just two minutes later however, Matías Fernández scored an incredible freekick from 20 yards out to more-or-less end the tie. They kept hold of this lead at the break, and through most of the second half, until the 81st minute, when Freddy Eastwood got a fierce drive into the top corner to make it 2. Straight from the kick-off the Danish side got some consilation with Mads Thomsen heading the ball past Akinfeev to make it 2:1, but they were never going to catch up and LAZ0rs fans could start booking tickets to Portugal. Shoop Da Woopington United 2-1 FC Norsjælland | Match Stats UEFA Champions League First Qualifiying Round First Leg Domzale v. Multi Scorgasms (Sportini Park Domzale, Domzale) Ce sont les meilleures équipes, Sie sind die allerbesten Mannschaften, The main event, Ce sont les meilleures équipes, Sie sind die allerbesten Mannschaften, The main event, Die Meister, Die Besten, Les grandes equipes, The champions, Une grande reunion, Eine grosse sportliche Veranstaltung, The main event, Ils sont les meilleures, Sie sind die Besten, These are the champions, Die Meister, Die Besten, Les grandes equipes, The champions, Die Meister, Die Besten, Les grandes equipes, The champions!!! Enough of the Inter-Toto Cup! Now for the Champions League! The Champions of Wales began their campaign against the champions of Slovenia, Domzale. Multi Scorgasms dominated the first half and could well have been two or three up by half-time, but it was still goalless at 45 minutes. It remained this way, thanks to some terrible finishing and sublime goalkeeper, until the 82nd minute, when Tomaz Zorko, under very little pressure, handled the ball in the area. Kaká managed to get the resultant penalty in the net, and Multi Scorgasms had avoided embarassment. With the goal in, the Domzale defense were clearly demorilized, and Bojan got the first of what Multi Scorgams fans will hope will be many goals for him this season three minutes later, killing the tie. Domzale 0-2 Multi Scorgasms | Match Stats UEFA Cup First Qualifiying Round First Leg Sheep Spankers v. Mattersburg (The Farm, Swansea) After coming second in the WSL last season, the Sheep entered the UEFA Cup, and their first opponants were Austrian side SV Mattersburg. They got off to a flying start in the tenth minute, as Rob Earnshaw played a nice pass for the Sheep's new £30M striker Bendtner to score on his debut. Five minutes later he got a second into the net, and Tom Huddlestone made it three in the 30th minute, with an unstoppable free-kick. The score-line remained this way until half-time. In the 55th minute Timo Heinze conceded a penalty for shirt-pulling, which Messi duly scored. It stayed this way through most of the second half, but in the second of seven minutes of injury time Bendtner completed his debut hattrick with an increadible goal from 20 yards out. Ultimate domination from the Sheep, 5:0, and sure to go through! Sheep Spankers 5-0 Mattersburg | Match Stats H. Tel-Aviv v. Winners FC (Bloomfield, Tel-Aviv - Jaffa) The Welsh Cup winners began their UEFA Cup campaign in Israel, playing Hapoel Tel-Aviv. Confidence was high amongst fans of the Welsh club, but most of the early pressure came from the Red Devils. Their advantage was upped in the 30th minute, as Steven Taylor elbowed Umut Güzelses in the face, earning a -possibly harsh- red card from Mike Dean. This one-man advantage was utilised by the Devils in the 45th minute as Golan hit a long shot which deflected off Hugo Lloris. The teams went in with the underdogs one-up. Tel-Aviv kept up this domination throughout the second half, and got their reward in the 92nd minute, as from a corner Shadi and Mohammed Sabag combined to make it 2:0, and make it very hard for Winners FC to get through. H. Tel-Aviv 2-0 Winners FC | Match Stats UEFA Inter-Toto Cup Third Round First Leg Leiria v. Shoop Da Woopington United (Estádio Municipal Dr. Magalhães Pessoa, Leiria) We return to the Inter-Toto Cup with Shoop Da Woopington United playing Portugeuese side Leiria with the winners entering the UEFA Cup. The Welsh side started off well, scoring their first goal after six minutes, Jermaine Defoe putting the ball into the net on the half-volley. However in the 19th minute Sérgio Silva equalised, getting the ball past Akinfeev. It remained 1:1 until half-time, and through almost the entire match, until in the 90th minute Ivo Beirão scored to give Leiria the win, and with Shoop Da Woop needing to turn it around in the second leg. Leiria 2-1 Shoop Da Woopington United | Match Stats UEFA Champions League First Qualifiying Round Second Leg Multi Scorgasms (2) v. Domzale (0) (The Scorgasmic Arena, Wrexham) Ce sont les meilleures équipes, Sie sind die allerbesten Mannschaften, The main event, Ce sont les meilleures équipes, Sie sind die allerbesten Mannschaften, The main event, Die Meister, Die Besten, Les grandes equipes, The champions, Une grande reunion, Eine grosse sportliche Veranstaltung, The main event, Ils sont les meilleures, Sie sind die Besten, These are the champions, Die Meister, Die Besten, Les grandes equipes, The champions, Die Meister, Die Besten, Les grandes equipes, The champions!!! The WSL champions had got off to a good start in Slovenia, and they kept up the pressure in the early stages of the game. They got their reward in the 24th minute as James Vaughan scored his first goal since his £17.25M move from Everton. A few minutes later it was two, Darren Fletcher getting an increadible goal from 30 yrds out. It remained 2:0 until half-time. Goal number 3 came in the 70th minute, as Kaká scored a nice goal from way out. He then got a near-identical goal just seven minutes later to make it four. And that was how it finished, and Multi Scorgasms would be heading to a next round tie against Partizan! Multi Scorgasms 4-0 Domzale | Match Stats UEFA Inter-Toto Cup Third Round Second Leg Shoop Da Woopington United (1) v. Leiria (2) (Stadium of LAZ0rs, Swansea) Last time around, Shoop da Woop had fallen vicitim to a late goal, and now needed to win by at least two goals to qualify for the UEFA Cup. They appeared to get the first off those goals from Defoe in the 5th minute, but it was ruled out for offside. They got a proper goal in the 23rd minute from Matías Fernández, scoring an increadible goal from 25 yards out, giving them the lead on away goals. It remained so until the 75th minute, when the win was secured by Freddy Eastwood with a header into the net from a corner, to give him 5 goals in LAZ0rs' Inter-toto campaign. Just a few minutes later Yakubu took advantage of some sloppy defending to make it 3:0, and Shoop Da Woopington United qualifiyed for the UEFA Cup! Shoop Da Woopington United 3-0 Leiria | Match Stats UEFA Champions League Second Qualifiying Round First Leg Partizan v. Multi Scorgasms (Sportini Park Domzale, Domzale) Ce sont les meilleures équipes, Sie sind die allerbesten Mannschaften, The main event, Ce sont les meilleures équipes, Sie sind die allerbesten Mannschaften, The main event, Die Meister, Die Besten, Les grandes equipes, The champions, Une grande reunion, Eine grosse sportliche Veranstaltung, The main event, Ils sont les meilleures, Sie sind die Besten, These are the champions, Die Meister, Die Besten, Les grandes equipes, The champions, Die Meister, Die Besten, Les grandes equipes, The champions!!! Onwards with the Champions! Multi Scorgasms played the champions of Serbia. The Welsh team dominated the first half, but they went in goalless after 45 minutes. Shortly after half-time however a counter-attack from Partizan resulting in Vukovic scoring an opening. In the 63rd minute Kaka was tackled by Nebojsa Marinkovic and got past all the defenders to make it 2:0. And that was it, and despite their domination, Multi Scorgasms had alot of work to do to stay in. Partizan 2-0 Multi Scorgams UEFA Cup First Qualifiying Round Second Leg Winners FC (0) v. H. Tel-Aviv (2) (The Millennium Stadium, Cardiff) Winners FC had lost in Tel-Aviv, and so would need a big win to get through to the next round. And they got their first goal after just 27 seconds, it being scored by Matt Derbyshire. Derbyshire got on the end of a pass by Gerrard in the 20th minute to even the scores in the tie, and Winners FC took the lead in the 25th minute after Gerrard got a faboulous long distanse strike, and Gerrard made it 4 in the 38th minute with an unstoppable shot into the top corner. Just a few minutes later Matt Derbyshire completed his hattrick to make it 5, and then shortly before the break Toulalan made it 6 with a strike from 30 yrds-out. In the second-half, the onslaught continued, with Gerrard completing his hat-trick with a 25-yrds in the 58th minute. That was it for a while, until Gerrard got another goal to make it EIGHT in the 85th minute! And that was it, 8:0 at full time, and Winners FC had come from nowhere to make the next round. Winners FC 8-0 H. Tel-Aviv | Match Stats Mattersburg (0) v. Sheep Spankers (5) (Pappelstadion, Mattersburg) How are you meant to follow that? Well it turned out Sheep Spankers didn't need to that much, and the match would be remebered for one incident in the 22nd minute as Timo Heinze brought down Rob Earnshaw. Earnshaw was streatured off with a broken leg and would be out for five months. The goals were scored by Niklas Bendtner after an assist by Cotterill in the 51st minuite, and in the 66th minure Cotterill made it 2. Sheep Spankers were through, but at the loss of one major player. Mattesburg 0-2 Sheep Spankers | Match Stats UEFA Champions League Second Qualifiying Round First Leg Multi Scorgasms (0) v. Partizan (2) (The Scorgasmic Arena, Wrexham) Ce sont les meilleures équipes, Sie sind die allerbesten Mannschaften, The main event, Ce sont les meilleures équipes, Sie sind die allerbesten Mannschaften, The main event, Die Meister, Die Besten, Les grandes equipes, The champions, Une grande reunion, Eine grosse sportliche Veranstaltung, The main event, Ils sont les meilleures, Sie sind die Besten, These are the champions, Die Meister, Die Besten, Les grandes equipes, The champions, Die Meister, Die Besten, Les grandes equipes, The champions!!! The WSL champions had lost in Serbia, and would need a good win to get through to the next round. Last time I said that, it worked. It took until the 12th minute for Vaughan to open the scoring with a header in the area. In the 30th minute a penalty was awarded... to Partizan, which Vukovic scored to make it 3:1 on aggragate. Straight from the kick-off Bojan scored... but it was disallowed for offside, to the anger of the home fans. 8 minutes later Bojan got a legitimate goal, but Partizan still had the lead after 45 minutes. This changed just a minute after the kick-off as Joleon Lescott scored; but Partizan still had the lead on away goals. Bojan made it 4-1 in the 68th minute, and he got a hat-trick in the 73rd minute. Partizan's fightback looked to have begun the 83rd minute, but Vukovis goal was ruled out. Minutes later Peter Crouch scored to make it 6:1, ensuring that Multi Scorgasms would be into the next round. Multi Scorgasms 6-1 Partizan | Match Stats UEFA Champions League Third Qualifiying Round First Leg Multi Scorgasms v. Rangers (The Scorgasmic Arena, Wrexham) Ce sont les meilleures équipes, Sie sind die allerbesten Mannschaften, The main event, Ce sont les meilleures équipes, Sie sind die allerbesten Mannschaften, The main event, Die Meister, Die Besten, Les grandes equipes, The champions, Une grande reunion, Eine grosse sportliche Veranstaltung, The main event, Ils sont les meilleures, Sie sind die Besten, These are the champions, Die Meister, Die Besten, Les grandes equipes, The champions, Die Meister, Die Besten, Les grandes equipes, The champions!!! Now for the big teams! Multi Scorgasms opposition was last years SPL runners-up Rangers; who had beaten Albanian side KF Tirana 7-0 on aggregate to make it to this stage. Domestically however, they were not doing so well, and after 2 games sat 12th out of 12 after losing to Dundee (thats Dundee, not Dundee Utd.) and Hibernian. The match's first major incident came in the 10th minute as Emmerson Boyce managed to tackle Bojan in the area and get the ball away, only for Phil Dowd to award a penalty, which Kaká... blasted over the bar! In the 25th minute this miss was punished by Steven Naismith, who got the ball over Deeney to make it 1:0. James Vaughan managed to equalise in the 39th minute with a header, and that was how the teams went in. In the 63rd minute Peter Crouch got free in the area and made it 2-1. This was how it finshed, meaning that the Welsh team looked the more likely to go thorugh, but we've seen in the past how quickly a lead like that can disappear... Multi Scorgasms 2-1 Rangers | Match Stars UEFA Cup Second Qualifying Round First Leg As an experiment, I'm going to do this in the style of a minute-by-minute report, cos of the 3 games being played simulaneously. Meanwhile in Wisla, Freddy Eastwood replaces Defoe. 21:19: Really disappointing finishing from Sheep Spankers. They really should have scored by now. Kayserispor haven't had a shot yet. 21:26: Niklas Bendtner hits his shot over the bar. Lookling like they could struggle to break this team down. 21:26: GOAL! Ah, a return to doing match reports! Multi Scorgasms won in Swansea, so as long as they didn't lose here, they'd be the first Welsh side ever to reach the Champions League group stage. Since the last game Rangers had beaten Aberdeen and Falkirk, and were now 5th in the SPL. Unfortunately DaMarcus Beasley scored in the 15th minute to give Rangers the lead on away goals, and then Thomas Buffel gave the Scots the lead in the 22nd minute. Eleven minutes later Joleon Lescott scored to even the aggragate score. It was still 3:3 on aggragate at half-time. In the 60th minute Reynold Smith was dismissed for bringing down Bojan as the last man, making Readings task harder. However in the 74th minute a Ranger's counter-attack enabled Lee McCulloch to make it 4:3. BP_Doosra
Great to see another update. Pity that Nightmare sold two of their best players in Barry and Felipe. O\'Hara_fan
Mid-table side. Still could win both the Challenge Cup and the Welsh Cup. I think we could win on of them. Loving WSL Online coverage of the game, fantastic stuff
Guest roberto922
Not bad for the Scorgasmic champs, shame that we're not top though. Also I have to say I'm amazed at how much detail goes into your updates
ebfatz2001
Great Update. Good to see LongTown up there. Don't see us winning it as played more games and not enough squad depth. Maybe the transfer window will change that. Euro qualification would be good though. KUTGW
BP_Doosra
Nightmare better not sell Dean Ashton as he is our only decent striker. Good to see we're going to get Upson as that should strengthen our defense although we really need come central midfielders and another striker, especially if Ashton leaves. At least Buffon was European Keeper of the year and hopefully he won't be on his way out as well. KUTGW
