Carl_272
I'm thinking of buying one. Will FM11 be able to run on it? And will it be fast? EdSB
It's an Alienware, so yes! I'm not sure exactly how the processor works, I suspect it'll run faster when gaming etc. - but you needn't worry, it should run fine.
Passion Fruit
Just because it says "Alienware" on it, doesn't mean it's automatically the best thing since sliced bread. The processor's frequency is 1.3GHz and has no "turbo boost" feature, so won't run faster when gaming. It's a processor aimed at energy efficiency. As far as FM goes, you won't be the fastest processor of fixtures etc, but that laptop is well more than enough for FM. It's actually a pretty decent gaming laptop so you shouldn't have a problem playing a lot of the most recent games on medium detail @ 720p. FM won't break a sweat graphically. JimmyIOCS
The processer leaves a lot to be desired to be honest. And with a 64 bit machine, I'd want more RAM. Graphics card is fine for FM though.
Roman Chevalier
Thhere's no point thinking too much about graphics with FM. It's a proccessor/ram centric game, so that's where the focus should be, and you can get better laptops in this regard than that alienware one. Carl_272
http://uk.computers.toshiba-europe.com/innovation/product/1086993/tab/0# Would this be good?
hursty2
How much is it gonna cost you? If it's anymore than £350 your better off buying a different laptop with a much better processor and more RAM.
hursty2
http://uk.computers.toshiba-europe.com/innovation/product/1086993/tab/0#Would this be good? Yes very good, should be able to run most leagues without a problem.
Carl_272
It's probably worth the money for the extra ram and processing, as the alienware wasn't up to scratch in that depaertment but someone told me they'd played the FM11 demo fine with it. This one should be OK for a few FM's in the future then.

Sure will be as it also says the RAM is upgradable to 8GB.

wackettdagenham
Be careful though, a M11x does not have a disc drive, so unless you already have a external drive you will only be able to install FM via steam.
Roman Chevalier
http://uk.computers.toshiba-europe.com/innovation/product/1086993/tab/0#Would this be good? Yes, that has a very good processor, and memory. It'll play a ton of leagues and large database without any problems

mintchip
Rule with RAM, get as much as you can. Price at the moment seems to be quite level and shouldn't dip much lower. 2GB with Windows 7 on, is about as much as you would want to run TBH. For a gaming laptop, you would want at least 6GB really. Get away with 4, but as I say, get as much as you can. Make the most of 64 bit.
DivineOne
I would suggest NOT to buy an Alienware tbh. Are they bad? No. You just pay like 25% (made up, I don't know how much it is, I DO know however that it is a lot) more just for the name.

The Toshiba one I posted has 4GB, seems good enough and has the option of another 4GB so I can upgrade whenever I want. My current PC has 2GB and FM runs well enough so this should be alot better. You'll find Alienware, if you do some research (perhaps you don't care about the price; which is fair enough), is overpriced and doesn't represent value for money. What with Global warranties these days, you are better off buying from America, investing in a plug adapter, and saving yourself about 600 quid on a desktop replacement laptop (the stronger pound takes care of this).
