rancer890
FM2010 - 10.3 GAME SETUP (all divisions) - 90 leagues Argentina Australia Belgium Brazil China Croatia Denmark Egypt England France Germany Greece Holland Indonesia Ireland Italy Japan Mexico N. Ireland Portugal Qatar Russia Scotland Serbia S. Africa S. Korea Spain Tunisia Turkey USA (MLS only) Uzbekistan The Japan XML also has some real players too, from the top teams (check my CSE challenge thread for details...), which is good, although most are still newgens. Better than nothing at least. Ricky Nakano will start as a semi-pro footballer. New posting style for now too. I will post only end-of-season update like Raware (and maybe the beginning of season style too if he doesn't mind ), and maybe do transfer updates at the end of the window like DodgeeD. No month-by-month analysis, because I have no time these days. So I will try and stick with this and if I don't, no more career updates from me (unless posting in Anecdote thread) and I won't open a new thread till FM11. Wish me luck. rancer890
December 24, 2008 Kiryu Cyclone FC (real name: V-Varen Nagasaki) hire Canadian/Hong Kong manager Ricky Nakano to lead the club to glory. V-Varen Nagasaki are a Professional club in the Japanese Football League, the 3rd tier in Japanese football. They play in the 15,000 all-seater Nagasaki Prefectural Stadium located in the city of Isahaya, Nagasaki. They have average training and youth facilities. Nakano has a contract until January 31st, 2012 worth $65k per season. (For Japanese clubs, I will often use their real name, it's only realistic that way . )
rancer890
Season 2009 Review Japanese Football League/Japanese Football League progress - We had midtable odds, but we defied all expectations to easily win the league and gain promotion to J-League 2. We only 3 league games all year so that's a first too. And scoring 100 goals was a bit special. Emperor's Cup - the first 2 rounds were against easy opposition, either from non-league or the Regional Leagues. But in the 3rd round we faced a tough Saitama UTD (real name: Urawa Reds) club and lost badly, but we did get a lot of gate receipts that game. Transfers - We got a lot of loanees, but our permanent transfer Carlos Andre was clearly our best player all season. South Korean Cho Yong-Cheol, Tsubasa Oya, and Shunki Takahashi were also solid. I will probably want Shunki-san, and Tsubasa-san to return, although Naoto-san looks very good and I want him back next year. [/url] - A very good squad, although I hope to rely less on loans in the higher league to see if we can truly compete. Finances - Very good finances. Kept within the wage budget and managed to easily get promotion. Hoping for even more money in the higher leagues to compete. Yep, I packed my bags again and left Canada for Japan. It's not that bad in Nagasaki. Cheers for the comment DodgeeD. I haven't managed in those four countries. I'll hope to manage there at one point in this career. I'm not done yet in Japan though and I want to get V-Varen into the top flight at least before leaving Japan. Raware
Good to see another rancer thread up and running . Nice league selections and nice layout I prefer a start of season and end of season update as I find it easier to follow and write but that's just me (i'm not saying it's better, i've had heated discussions about layouts but I won't go there as I got accused of 'bullying' last time ) Anyway, great start to life at V-Varen, easily walked the league (even if 51 games are played ) You're doing a better job with the finances than me! Good luck for next season.
uncle ron
Good update and great first season! 51 games seems a bit of an odd number to play over the course of a league season. How many times do you play each each home or away? Only 13 conceded over 51 games is very impressive! Good luck next season!

I'll say it looks good and quite simplified for me to update without wasting a lot of time actually writing. Good update and great first season!51 games seems a bit of an odd number to play over the course of a league season. How many times do you play each each home or away? Only 13 conceded over 51 games is very impressive! Good luck next season! Teams play 3 times against each other. 17 x 3 = 51 games. We did play 1 more away game than home game but it didn't really matter this season as you can tell. Even more next season in the second tier.Nice to see you loaded Ireland, time for you to lead Shamrock Rovers to glory Same amount of teams, so playing same amount of games. Not a bad way to pad your stats though. I haven't managed at Rovers, so I'll aim to do that this save. It'll be my personal tribute save to everyone. But I gotta start at Japan and make my name there first. -- I admit I don't think we'll walk past the league again next season, considering there will be former J1 teams too in the league, but I'll be happy to be midtable next season and not face a relegation battle. rancer890
Season 2010 Review J-League Two Standings/J-League Two Progress - As you can tell, we didn't start off well, but I slowly tried to improve the squad through signings and loans, and in the 2nd half of the season, we were consistently in the top 3 and eventually achieved promotion to J-League One! Emperor's Cup - A fantastic cup campaign, beating 3 J-League One clubs (Kawaguchi, FC Hiroshima - parent club and eventual J-League One Winners, and Nagoya Stolz), before succumbing to Osaka AC (real name: Gamba Osaka) on a 90th minute goal. Transfers - Once again, lots of loans (so much for keeping my promise...), but many played with us when we were in the JFL, and most now have V-Varen as a favourite club. However, the standout transfer, like last year, was a free transfer, Kazuya Kikouka, who finished 2nd in team scoring. Our surprise promotion was also assisted by the likes of Tsubasa Yokotake, Sho Hanai, and Hideyuki Akai. Squad - The squad seemed to gel easily, partly because many of the personnel were the same, bar a couple loanees I didn't want back. Carlos Andre was fantastic again. Rafael Dida was solid in net in his first full season with the club, and Haruki Nishimura led the club in tackles per game, and finished 2nd in the entire league. Finances - A typical Ricky Nakano club must be financially healthy, and this one is no different. The board have already agreed to improve training and youth facilities. Average J-League Two Attendance: 5927 (9th out of 18th) Awards J-League Two Top Goalscorer - Carlos Andre - 3rd place Next season, the main goal is to avoid relegation. We won't get the luxury of that many loans next season, so I'll definitely need players on permanent contracts... rancer890
But of course, I am a bit prepared, considering that I was trying to find and sign out of contract players and other cheap signings to get ready for J-League One. So here's the ones I've signed already. - Juninho - $80k - Shingo Nejime - free - Romulo - $55k - Shin Yanagisawa - $325k + clauses - lead the JFL in scoring. And very close to an agreement with Sho Shinohara. We're hoping to get more out of contract players signed but we can't afford their wages.
rancer890
Brilliant progress back to back promotions. Nice one dude. Cheers AcidBurn. It was a bit of a surprise but our core players performed fantastically. Raware
Nice progress rancer . 2 promotions in 2 years is some good going, this is where the challenge starts now though . I think in all my time playing FM, i've only beaten a Japanese team 2 or 3 times. The top Jap teams have some top players, so it'll be interesting to see how you go on next season. Good luck . rancer890
Lots of the Japanese teams seemed to be pretty rich after a few seasons on my save. The League Cup and the Emperor's Cup have a boatload of prize money. It's hard to not earn a lot of profit each season. The J-League 1 teams are bloody rich. The 'poorest' J-League One club is worth $21.5 million! (we're worth only $6.25 million) Nice progress rancer. 2 promotions in 2 years is some good going, this is where the challenge starts now though . rancer890
Oh, and I don't spoil this outright before the end of season update, but V-Varen Nagasaki have a real life Japanese international playing on the team. rancer890
Season 2011 Review J-League One Standings/J-League One Past Positions - I'm just speechless! Here were the standings after 33 games...we also made the ACL as a result of this performance!! Emperor's Cup - A favourable draw (all home games), until we met Himeji Blues (no idea what their real team is) and lost 1-0. League Cup - I'm not too overly disappointed in a competition my board had no interest in. Transfers - lots of transfers in and out. Brazilians Romulo and Juninho were solid foreign additions. Shin Yanagisawa was solid after making the jump from the JFL to the Japanese top flight. Hiroyuki Nishijima and Shingo Nejime were solid J-League 1 vets who were vital to us. To top things off, I went to find a Japanese GK and find Japanese international Eiji Kawashima, basically trading with Higashiosaka Rosa/Kawasaki Frontale and giving them $450k and Rafael Dida. Kikouka was sold over my head but he went back to us and couldn't perform very well (6 games, 0 goals). If the chairman didn't sell Kikouka, I might not have spent the money to acquire other players. Squad - Once again, our squad is led by Carlos Andre, who is turning into a fantastic player for us, and hasn't lost a step at all since he signed with us in the JFL. Overall, it's been a team effort to win. Finances - We're now pretty wealthy and the board are going to upgrade facilities again. Average J-League One Attendance: 11,370 (out of 15,000 capacity)- 16 out of 18 Awards J-League One MVP - Carlos Andre J-League One Top Goalscorer - Carlos Andre J-League One Best XI - Carlos Andre Fair Play Award - V-Varen Nagasaki Next season, we're in another competition. rancer890
2012 Off-season Signings (V-Varen Nagasaki) Transfers Sandro Hiroshi - Suwon - $1.2 million - probably overpaid but he's a solid veteran who scored 19 goals last season at Suwon. He also holds a Japanese and S. Korean citizenship in addition to his Brazilian roots so he doesn't count against the foreigner limit. Naoto Takahashi - Nagoya Stolz/Nagota Grampus (I think) - $1.3 million - might have overpaid again but I've loaned him for 3 years already and he's a solid player Tatsuya Masushima - Nagota Grampus - free - a great signing for a freebie. Daisukke Kikuchi - Okayama FC/Kashima Antlers - free - another good free transfer signing that impressed me on loan last season Sho Hanai - Nagota Grampus - $200k - new signing, but Hanai was with us for 2 years on loan. It was time to make the move permanent. Tsubasa Yokotake - FC Hiroshima/Sanfreece Hiroshima - $240k - we sign yet another player from our former parent club... Kazuyaki Toda - Gyeongnam - $30k - we secure the signature of this veteran (and surprisingly, former Hiroshima player...) from S. Korean club Gyeongnam who offered him to us (and to a bunch of other clubs too) and will be a good depth player who I hope will eventually join the backroom staff. We also have a contract offer to Japanese international Alex (Alessandro dos Santos) who I hope will sign with us and not Hiroshima...

rancer890
A little update (haven't abandoned this one - yet ) after getting back into FM10 after a 3 week break from the game. We're in July now, not doing as well as last year. We have a lot of players with expiring contracts and I'm hoping to resign them, and I'm taking a big risk to hopefully resign them with less than 6 months before they expire. I'm staying with V-Varen Nagasaki for now, but lately I've been into Korean, learning the language through songs and dramas, so a move to Korea is part of my future plan -- if it's with the right club of course. We'll see.
rancer890
Season 2012 Review J-League One Standings/J-League One Past Positions - It wasn't as good as a season as before, but it was still very solid because I'm sure we could have done better if not for that horrible start to the season. There will be no Asian continental football for V-Varen Nagasaki in 2013. Emperor's Cup - Disappointed that we only made the 3rd round, but we were still very inconsistent and struggling early in the season. League Cup - I would have wanted a deeper run in the League Cup but it's not really an important competition to the board. Asian Champions League - We did well in the group stages, finishing 1st, but lost in the 2nd Round to exit the competition. Transfers - We were active once again in the transfer market. Naoto Takahashi seems to be a solid signing and had a good season with us. Tsubasa Yokotake, Sho Hanai, and Shuhei Kanda all made very good contributions to the club. Squad - The whole squad seemed to take a step back this season, but we still had solid contributions from Juninho, Carlos Andre, and Shin Yanagisawa. I signed the core to new long term contracts (except Kota Aoki, who is asking too much, we do have a salary cap in the J-League ya know ). Finances - We have no financial problems whatsoever. The board will upgrade training facilities but not youth facilities because they consider them to be the one of the best in the division. Average J-League One Attendance: 9,149 (out of 15,000 capacity)- 16 out of 18 Awards None... If we get a better start to the season next year we should be able to compete for a spot in the ACL. Looks like you've found some good players for an ACL qualification oush next season Cheers DodgeeD. (So far) no one has been sold over my head yet. There is a salary cap in the J-League (basically the wage budget) and I'm only $300k under now after some signings. I don't mind selling or loaning out some players to get a lower annual wage for the whole squad even though we only have a 25 member squad so far. Kawashima is earning $600k (stupid me paying him that much), Kota Aoki $500k, and Masushima $500k. As much as I like these players they are earning a bit too much for my liking... rancer890
2013 Off-season Transfers Transfers I plan on using very little of the transfer budget and open to selling players, but haven't sold anyone yet. I'm very excited of the talent that we have added this season: Yuhei Hironaga - former Hachioji Tigre (FC Tokyo) youth will potential to be as good as Kawashima. Shinnosuke Yoshihara - signed from Kawaguchi Riccio (Omiya Ardija) on a free, he'll add some depth to the club. Yuki Abe - the former Saitama UTD (Urawa Reds) captain joins V-Varen on a free, and will be a solid veteran presence for us. Kwon Sang-Joon - youth product released from Seoul, he gives us more young depth at the GK position and has potential to be better than Kawashima. Sandro Hiroshi was not resigned because of salary demands and Takahito Suzuki was once loaned out to another J-League One club for first team experience and a $1 million future fee. I see even with such a healthy transfer budget, you're signing players on frees. Any big money signings on the horizon? No big money signings Raware. We can't compete with the likes of Urawa Reds, Kashima Antlers, and Hiroshima yet financially and they usually win most of the bidding wars on good Japanese players and youths. And we are only $400k under the salary cap so I have to sell to fit any big money signings under the cap.
