I started in July, to mak it a bit more intersting as some managers have come under pressure. I am hoping to start with Hohhot, as a poster above made that team seem appealing to me, although i am closely monitoring Beijing, Ulsan and Dalian. I would prefr Busan the most though icon_biggrin.gif.

I will reply back in a few hours once I have ben offerd a job. Hopefully my pictures have worked too icon_smile.gif.

I am using the following:

2gb RAM,

Quad core Q6600 (2.4ghz),

Has anyone started with all leagues before on fm07/08???

Hi Guys,

Well I have now takn my first job! It was a vry hard decision betwen Hohhot, who would have ben a great challenge, Paulista who have a really nice squad, like hallelujah. In the nd i picked Turkish giants Kayserispor! I'm going to take them as far as I can and maybe they can be the best team for turkish youth in the future and could maybe net me some trophies icon_smile.gif.

Picture:

http://img118.imageshack.us/my.php?image=newjobuv8.jpg

The team was good overall but it could be improved in defence and definately needed some quality in depth.

I am VERY proud of my first signing!!!!!

http://img136.imageshack.us/my.php?image=roquejuniormx1.jpg

Roque Junior icon_biggrin.gif He's worth £1.1M not bad for a free icon_wink.gif

I got a really decent backup player who is 38 too.

Just a quick note, make sure to ask for a training upgrade. It's just crap for that level tbh =) GL with Kayserispor. I'm done with'em, missing the championship 2 times in a row due 3-4 matches blablabla...

Btw forgot to holiday my game, hope I can get it going today icon_biggrin.gif

Thought I'd give a quick update on my progress, really got into the game yesterday and motored through, just about to start my third season now.

My career started in Mexico with Tescos B, things didn't really pan out and I was amazingly frustrated by the fact that I had to have at least 5 players aged U23 on the pitch AT ALL TIMES!

Ended up managing for just 6 months there. I resigned this position and waited for a decent offer to crop up, at this point the Reading job became available ... of course I didn't get this, Preston manager Paul Simpson did, and I took his vacated position at Preston in February 2008.

Preston were in 8th when I took over and following a brilliant run at the end of the season we managed to finish in the playoff places and nicked a place in the Premiership with a 1-0 win over Watford at Wembley.

Unfortunately the dream of Premiership football was a short lived one, as the 6m transfer budget was nowhere near enough to make the squad strong enough to compete in the Prem. We finished 18th, and were actually relegated on goal difference, all the more painful as we were leading Chelsea by 2 goals on the final day of the season, only to be pegged back by 2 last gasp goals icon_frown.gif

Starting the 3rd season now, the squad is by far the best in the Championship and I'm expecting to go straight back up without too much trouble.

Hehe Tescos? Don't you mean tecos?? Tescos is wher I work funnily enough lol! icon_biggrin.gif.

Oh well done on getting the reading job and on getting promoted!! Hopefully you will do it and again and manag to stay up. you never know, because if your squad is the best then you might not need to buy many players and could save he money for when you gt promoted? What typ of attndances are you getting?

Ive got 16k on mine, by the way what attendance did you get 5ergio? anywhere near the 24k? I have panathaniokos (spelling :S )so hopfully i can get some cash from them. I am doing well financially, gone from £2.5M to £4.5M aftr a quarter of th season, we get £90K for each win in the league and my wag budget is only £59K and also we gt a £3.1M sponsor. So I'm really confident about the future and being able to compete financially with the big boys.

Oh and thanks for the tip 5ergio, i'll have a look at the training. I will need to look for some coachs too.

Oh sorry Jose, I forgot to say my rep is now regional, after about 10 games, after starting as automatic reputation. It mustnt be that bad, because reading shouldnt be to easy to get the job icon_smile.gif. Keep us updated! icon_biggrin.gif

My average was around 15k for the first year with no Europe action. In the second year, being 2nd in the league I get a full stadium against Celtic in 3rd Rnd Qual in CL. Beath them 5-2 on aggregate and got a group of Barca, D. Kiev and A. Wien. Got full again in Valencia and Barca games but got around 20k vs Wien. So it goes up, don't worry. Finances keep growing in Kayseri, I just don't get it how come though. I always end up with nearly 20M+ in the bank at the end of 2nd year. One tip again, try to offload G. Unal in january or he'll most probably end up leaving under bosman rule. He could net you a hefty £4M plus some future fees if negotiated carefully icon_wink.gif

Considering the reputation issue José brought up, I always start with sunday league footballer and keep getting successive boosts to reputation if I play in a top flight. Also your nationality changes the word a bit. You could well be a national manager from the start if you were from a low ranked country, where as being English etc. could hamper that process a bit but you'll get there don't worry.

Is anyone managing in Argentina. I won the opening league with Boca, and i am miles ahead in the overall table but im only 5th in the closing table.. I was quite suprised that it said i had won the premier division after just winning the opening stage...Are there 3 premier divisions on offer in one season or does the overall count for nothing??

I lost in the first round of the copa sudamerica by the way, but going well in the Libetadores.

Trophies from the list so far:

Nigeria: African Nations

Portugal: European Cup

Aresnal: Euro Champions Cup, Euro Super Cup

Hired by Espanyol after a short holidaying session on March, 16th. We are sitting 17th with 33 points in 28 games, tied with Levante at 18th. 10 games to go, need to keep'em in La Liga so I can build up on it. Team is expected to finish a respectable position in 2 years plan, will be tough given the competition.

Just a quick update, finished my 3rd season today.

My Preston side managed to finish 2nd with a win on the last day of the season, my side has some real quality players now and i think we may be able to survive in the Premiership next season. Having alot of leagues loaded has really helped as I have about 5 Brazilians in my starting XI icon_biggrin.gif

And the other big news item ... After over 150 games in charge of Preston, a full season in the Premiership, two promotions, and reaching a carling cup semi final after beating Chelsea, Fulham and Blackburn all away from home, only to be beaten 1-0 on aggregate by Man Utd ... my managerial reputation has moved from 'Unproven' to ... 'Regional' icon_biggrin.gif huzzah!

On a side note, i'd read on these forums that Billy Sharp was an amazing buy, but i'd never actually bought him before. So when he became available I thought i'd give him a chance and he is a genuine goal machine, his Preston career stats for me after 1 season in the Prem and 1 in the Championship are 80 goals in 83 games.

A little late on the uptake this, but just read this and fascinated to try it, gonna start a new game when I get home from work! Wish me luck, was thinking of the following leagues:

Eng (4), Brazil (2), SA(1), US(1), Norway (2), Spain(1), Holland(1), Ireland(1), South Korea(1), Italy(1), Singapore(1).

Will that cover me, or does someone suggest some others/different ones?

Time for another update I think!

Just finished my third full season in charge of Preston, our second in the Premiership. We had a brilliant season and ended up finishing 5th and stealing a UEFA Cup place for next year, this was mainly due to the amazing Billy Sharp getting 29 goals in his 35 Premiership starts.

The side looks a little like this:

GK - Joe Hart

DL - Chris Armstrong

DR - Hubschmann

DC - Karl Svensson

DC - Gibril Sankoh

MR - Daniele de Ridder

ML - Sergio Motta

MC - Fabrice Muamba

MC - Alexandre Song

FC - Eddie Johnson/ Asamoah Gyan

FC - Billy Sharp

Unfortunately I don't think i'll be around to see Preston into Europe, the board for some reason totally unbeknown to me, have publically announced they may not want to renew my contract? seems bizzare considering the success. Anyway, with time ticking away on my contract I realised myself that the reason I started this challenge was to play in new and exciting leagues i'd never experienced before, not to play in the Premiership again. So I think i'm going to hand in my notice at Preston and see what opportunities crop up for me, my reputation is now at 'National', so hopefully a new and exciting adventure shouldn't be too far away!

Oh! I almost forgot to mention, i'm currently the head coach of Nigeria icon_biggrin.gif

The vacancy appeared around Christmas time and I applied for that and the Ghana job, i've only had 2 games in charge, a commanding 4-1 away win over the Czech Republic in a friendly, and a 6-1 thrashing of Namibia in an African Cup Qualifier.

Update - 01/07/2008 - S. Çalı

Well well. After being hired mid-March by Espanyol, I had 10 games in hand to keep them up which looked like a bit difficult at first. But in the end we were sitting 9th on tied points with Valencia at 8th. Have a look if you don't believe icon_biggrin.gif You could guess that the last 10 matches went well by this figure right? To surprise you more we were unbeaten icon_biggrin.gifThe results here are more than what I expected from the team, especially beating up R. Madrid 3-1 at home.

On a side note, we have a little finance problem here in Espanyol. Hope it won't hinder the progress.

Having been away from my own challenge for a while now (winning the CL with Everton icon_smile.gif and starting Dafuges challenge, I thought it was time to play agian. My Original save was pre-patch so I decided to start again.

So here are my Leagues

And here is my profile

I started in March '08 thanks to the Sweedish League and applied for about 5 jobs that would all give me a chance of going for a cup within two years.

Most turned me down, but Challenge favourites, Woodlands Wellington of Singapore were interested. I had never been them before although I know a lot of people have started out there. So off I went.

I missed the first league game due to my delaying their offer for a week, before going into games agains SAFFC and the Tampines, two wins later and its looking good. However I was getting tired so it was off to bed.

Plan for the morning: update the forum with my start and then get some FM under my belt!

So here I go......

Another little update

After winning the African Nations with Nigeria I decided to leave the post, after spending a couple of months unemployed, I was all set to take a job with Modena in Serie B. Then a chain reaction took place which left me with a good vacancy to apply for, Liverpool were 17th in the Premiership and fired their manager:

Liverpool manager replaced by Dortmund manager

Dortmund manager replaced by HSV manager

HSV manager replaced by Hannover manager

So I inherited a Hannover side with some decent players, 6th in the league with 3 games to go. We managed to finish 5th and are in the UEFA Cup next season, part of me wanted to finish 6th so we'd be in the InterToto, so I could get that trophy ticked off! The only downside is that were in some real financial trouble, when I took over I thought my eyes were playing tricks on me:

"You are currently 400k p/w OVER your wage budget"

Ouch.

i realy cannot remember how qualification for the libertadoros and sudamericana works!

im currently top of the opening stage, only 5 games in though, but that did include a 4-1 victory over River... we play 2nd place Boca at home in the opening stage, good chance of winning the title it seems

Just had a look around the internet, it appears that the winners or each stage qualify for the Libertadoros the following year, together with the four highest placed teams in the overall table.

as for the sudamerican, it seems that the top four teams in the overall table qualify, alot with River and Boca, who are invitees?

is that correct or am i way off?

just going off the information given here, is it the same in FM?

after an excelent start to the argentine season, Independiente went on an awful run untill the end of the opening stage...

it was draw, after draw, after draw.

opposition goalkeepers started winning the MOM award every game! despit dominating every team in the league with the exception of boca and river, we just couldnt win a game.

always have more posetion that the oposition, always completing a high % of passes, always getting a good amount of shots on target (not 30 yard efforts, genuine good chances), yet we still cannot win games,

i know people say that the superkeeper does not exsist, but this season is really starting to make me wonder

Taking a quick coursework break to give another update:

A brilliant season with Hannover, which saw us strengthen the side with some very good loan signings and also losing alot of the ageing dead wood in the ranks. Ended up finishing 2nd in the German First Division, being beaten to the title by HSV in the last minutes of the last game of the season. I went into the game top by 1 point, which meant a win away to Schalke and we were the champions. We took an early 2-0 lead only to be pegged back with an 87th minute equaliser!

This bitter pill was made alot easier to swallow due to the fact that just 3 days earlier we had managed to win the UEFA Cup with a momentous 4-1 win over Atletico Madrid in the final. We had an amazing run at the end of the season, going 14 games unbeaten in all competitions. The run to the UEFA Cup saw two amazing results in the 1/4 and 1/2 finals respectively:

4-3 aggregate win over Lyon

5-5 aggregate away goals victory over Newcastle

Very happy to have ticked off another trophy in the challenge, I have stepped down as the manager of Hannover now and have a brief spell in charge of the Serbian national side. This didn't really pan out, and I have decided to put my new continental reputation to good use in 2014 and head to pastures new for a second stab at glory in Mexico, with underachieving side Chivas.

I am currntly scond in th league after selling some of my bst players for megabucks and replacing them with better playrs for less money icon_smile.gif. I believ my team is now nearly as good as any in the division! I was suprised whn I was playing roberto carlos in on game though!

thanks mate, the 2nd half of the season has gone better...

we are drawing alot less games! a 4-0 loss away at River Plate was the low point, but we picked up a great away win at our biggest rivals Racing Club!

our away game against Boca finished 4-4, was a hell of a game, but im a bit gutted we couldnt see them off

still in with a shout of the title with 3 games to go, but i need 3 wins, and Boca and River would both have to slip up, so its a bit of a long shot!

i THINK im assured qualification for the Libertadoros and Sudamericana next season (im not 100% sure how qualification works though). those will be my first attempts at playing in competitions which count towards the Challenge

a bit of strengthening in the summer should see us improve again next season. the first aim will be to find a replacement for Fabro, my right winger, who is sadly leaving on a free transfer.

well the season finished with Independiente in 3rd place.

we won our last 3 games, but sadly River & Boca did not drop enough points for us to capitalize.

The closing stage finished as follows...

Boca 46pts

River 45pts (+21 GD)

Indep. 45pts (+18 GD)

so we would have been champions had we been able to turn that 4-4 draw with Boca in to a win. oh well, was still a good season, and the board are 'very pleased'.

  • 3 weeks later...

Well I have had a rough go so far. Started in July and took a job offer in the Korean N-League with Hallelujah. However, their boss went a little psycho and after form of DLD he fires me after 68 days at the position. I'd barely had a chance to figure out a first team and had brought in 7 players at the time who were getting acclimated today. Since my firing they have gone WLDDDD, so it seems dumb to have fired me.

From there, I took a job in the Swedish First Division North (Playing pre-patch) with Syrianska, however I was dumb and forgot to check how close to the end of the season it was and they had 3 games left and sitting in relegation zone. So it turned into a quick reclamation job. I drew my first game against Forward, but should have won it as I was up 2-0 and finished 2-2. Lost my next against Vasby 3-0 that I should have probably at least taken a draw in, and finally lost my last to Ostersunds 4-2 who were pegged for top of the table. So 22 days after taking the job, I resigned before being sacked for being relegated out of the leagues.

I have no taken a position in the Swedish First Division South with Qviding who finished 5th last season and I'm looking to try to promote. By the end of the 4 year plan, they want to be established in the First Division, but I'm on a 2 year deal.

Same here icon_frown.gif I guess not being in a competitive match hinders the reputation progress. I'm just holidaying at the moment, arranging 4 friendlies a year and applying to any available jobs expect relegation candidates in the lowest divisions available. Not yet offered a single one although I'm 14 months in the game since I'm employed by Vanuatu. Eagerly waiting for the OCE Nations Cup so I'll be facing some competition there. Done 4 friendlies so far. Here are the results:

vs Romania || 1-6

vs Nicaragua || 1-3

vs Ivory Coast ||0-4

vs Tahiti || 3-3

So I'm not doing that good but considering the fact that both Ivory Coast & Romania was given a 1.05 odd to win, they are not so important. Good luck with your journey with Vanuatu cletus. For the record, I've seen successive raising in world ranking from Jan 08 to Nov 08. Then a fall from 125 to 158 in just two months and now we are climbing up again.

vs Turks & Caicos Is. || 0-1

August 2008 Update

Well from the off I took the African Warriors job in the deepest depths of South Africa. icon_rolleyes.gif

Expected to finish bottom and with no players, it was always going to be a tough start to management! But despite all this I made some ok signings and began to assemble the makings of a half-decent squad icon14.gif.

We finished mid-table and live to fight another season. Pre-season has seen a few new names come in and the strength of the squad has definitely been improved. If only I'd found a keeper - my current GK conceded 93 goals in 35 games last season icon_eek.gif.

Note to self; never ever manage Vanuatu again! I'm into 2010 now, won OCE Nations Cup over New Zealand which was a very challenging tie. But my reputation is no where near regional. I'm still being rejected by teams that are guaranteed to get relegated to non-playable divisions icon_frown.gif This leads to a restart now, same leagues & same profile as I posted earlier. Only difference though, I won't apply to Vanuatu.

Wow, restart did work! Hired by Boro after a couple of months of holidaying at 21.04.2008. Sitting 18th with tied points of 34 with Sunderland at 17th. 3 matches to go. I won't post a season update as it is kinda useless but will definitely inform you about the closing of EPL.

Restarted after 16 months of terror like 5ergio experienced with Vanuatu. In my new game I took over at Winners Park, first division in South Africa.

1. season: Finished 9th. W 13, D 2, L 15

Need a better goalkeeper, but they are hard to find....
