Jimbo Kav #2 subbed on with 2mins to play in anticipation of a penalty shootout. Into the FA Cup 3rd round where we go to Crystal Palace (unfortunately in the Championship now). Whittaker has been bang in form! We progress in the Leasing Cup where we will play QPR in the 3rd round. Unfortunately Crystal Palace where a step to far for us. We played quite well but their superior quality shone through! League Table We sit in the automatic promotion spots currently and have a game in hand on 2nd place AFC Wimbledon! A really nice win over QPR sets us up against Oxford in the Leasing Trophy quarter finals. League Table We sit 4th 1 point off automatic promotion spots. With numerous suspensions due to reaching yellow card limit! League Table We somehow sit in the automatic promotion spot, however 3pts separate us in 3rd to Chesterfield in 9th. They beat us 4-1 in the last game of the season although mostly a 2nd string team for us. We beat them 1-0 at home earlier in the season. 1st Leg It was actually one of our poorer performances of the season but it was looking great until they scored in 81st minute. Jimbo did step up and whip in a beautiful free kick. Its a slight advantage but I will take it. 2nd Leg An awful game but a great result for us and for the 4th year running we are in a playoff final! We are all square at half time, we fell behind but we have bounced back well and are deservedly back on terms. In the 91st minute we have been awarded a penalty. Is it too good to be true? deez0r Posted April 28, 2020 Author Share Posted April 28, 2020 End Of Season Review Unsurprisingly Whittaker walks away with our player and young player of the season. Edser gets goal of the season and Dylan Thompson, who has been a rock at the back for us, wins signing of the season. A great season for us, the free transfers and loan signings gelled really well and fired us to an unlikely promotion. Out at the first hurdle in our first Carabao Cup game but 2 wins in the FA Cup got us a big game away at Crystal Palace! Our average attendance is well up which is good to see! deez0r Posted April 29, 2020 Author Share Posted April 29, 2020 Transfers Out Thought I would do a bit surrounding transfers on its own this season as we are up in the more expensive brackets now. Firstly lets have a look at who left prior to the first game of the season. These done include young players who have went out on loan. Tavernier, Hazard, Ayala, Edwards and Mavididi where surplus to requirements and where sold on for decent money which we could reinvest in the squad. Nixon, Lee and Flatters where young players who were never going to breakthrough into our team. On to the three I would have liked to keep at the squad however 2 wanted to move to a bigger team and the other threw the head up when Ayala left. McNair went to West From for £8.75m which could rise to just over £10m. He was a solid player to have and was useful as he covered so many positions. Souttar joined Swansea for £5.75. I would have liked to kept him here however he complained when Ayala left and was bringing the squad morale down. I think we got a good deal. And now the one I definitely didn't want to go. He wanted to move to a bigger club but we weren't getting offers of anywhere near his release fee until Norwich came in and met his £34m clause. Loans Merola will be our main striker this season, he is the best player in the team and can hopefully lead us to promotion! Martinelli is a good option to have as he covers both sides and we are a bit short on the wings after losing Gregson. Correia will be our starting right midfielder, he looks a great option! Manolo will be used in rotation with my other full backs, love that he covers both sides though. Doyle is our 3rd loanee from City and will be starting as one of our 2 holding playmakers. Youngsters (currently in u23 squad) Lopez was signed prior to me joining the club and he will play in the u23's to see if he can reach his potential. The other 3 are my American Boys! All need work permits but will be going out on loan. Flores I really like the look off, if he can develop his finishing a bit could definitely be part of the squad in a few years. Bueno (good name), also has potential but needs to work on his technical skills. But for free its well worth the risk. Wills is another I really like the look off, solid skills in the centre back areas already. A couple of loan moves out will do him the world of good. deez0r Posted April 29, 2020 Author Share Posted April 29, 2020 Transfers In Part 2 First Team Squad Players Benzema I brought in mainly for experience and to help mentor the other young strikers we have. Will be a bit part player but can use him in cup games or potentially as an impact sub Hafsteinsson comes in for £2.8m with a lot of potential. He will be a rotation option on the left hand side this season. Grabher is a great signing and a snip for £3.7m. He will be starting alongside Morelo when he is back to fitness. Soumare comes in and will fight for a starting spot alongside Doyle. More of a powerhouse midfielder so offers something different. Galves will come in as our starting right back, a really good signing for under £5m. Has a lot of potential also. Karahasanovic is one of my favourite signings of the summer. Another bargain at only £5.5m but probably on too much wages currently. He covers a lot of positions in our team and I am training him to be a holding midfielder as well. Ghalem is my other favourite signing. He already has great stats for a centre back as well as having a bit of pace and acceleration to go with it. He will be a starting centre back. Bielik is our replacement for Souttar and will come in as our other centre half. Good experience beside the relatively inexperienced Ghalem. Ironically our first game of the season is Derby! Jimbo IV The 4th of the quadruplets of Jimbo Kav's. He comes in with not the highest of current abilities but a lot of potential. Correia was man of the match and was a constant threat and when he equalised on 91st minute I was happy to just not lose. We were unlucky against a full strength Liverpool team. It was 1-1 up until I made our last change only for that change to get injured seconds later and we had to play with 10 men for the rest of the game. I will sign all of those who are 2 and a half star potential and above. Paul Russell YP24A Paul is the best of the intake. He has some solid stats and good work rate. I will retrain for the deep lying role. A poor personality that we can hopefully change with mentoring. Thelston Liburd Thelston has some solid mental stats and is versatile as well.If we can up his technical stats he could potentially become a squad player. We played with 10 men for most of the 2nd half but we were comfortable! Initial budgets are we have £40m to spend. Hopefully we can bring in 1 or 2 big players.
