Happy with the summer in all honesty, we've got good money for players that don't really have a future at the club and i've improved the squad in areas that we needed. I'm hoping Kooiman provides a different kind of threat on the right to what we've had as he's more an out and winger than we've ever had and especially where the strikers tallies last season weren't great i'm hoping his crossing ability will help change that. Stepcic looks a real center half, more powerful than anything at the club so hopefully that adds some authority. Oshepkov is a huge step up on Bolat in goal, I nearly bought him 2 seasons back but decided against it at the time as the funds weren't there and then I forgot all about him until he came up in a report in December so happy to have finally got him.

I feel the squad is almost there now, an upgrade on both FB's is all I think I need at this moment but both are good enough for the time being and it gives me time to make a decision on them.

It's been a very good start for us, I wouldn't say there's much difference to the way we were playing last season apart from importantly we seem not to be making stupid mistakes at the back and we're getting a better service up to Schwarz thanks to the addition of Kooiman. It's too early to predict how the season will pan out but I do hope that after the early showing those regular mistakes which really cost us last year have been eradicated.

The CL group sees us against Bayern, Porto and Galatasaray which whilst tricky isn't the worst in the world and getting the 3 points at home to Porto ahead of the biggest game at Bayern is a great start, the key games are undoubtedly the double header against Gala after that win, if we can get through those then we shouldn't be too far off from qualifying again.

wow, those are 3 amazing signings.

Cheers, there was a lot of competition for Kooiman and Oschepkov  and as I was so desperate to get them I paid a lot more than they wanted in fairness but when big clubs from Spain, Germany and Italy plus a few English and French sides are also interested I have to be realistic with our size of club and offer that bit more to entice them. In all fairness looking at Petrov who is already on the transfer list after begging to go to Real it is probably better for them being at a club like us where we'd be giving them games too, not that I have much sympathy for Petrov, his last 6 months were shocking and sp was his attitude so we got a great deal and it's no coincidence that our form picked up with his departure.

I expected an improvement from us but even then not this much of one, we've breezed through the first half of the season and have a healthy lead at the top of the table. PSG haven't really been consistent in the last 18 months since Rudi Garcia got the sack, Michel Decastel to his credit managed to win the title last year  but even then that was more on account of Lyon blowing it right at the end (and us to some extent because if we'd have beaten St. Etienne then we'd have been the ones stealing it. Given in this save Ancelotti  was sacked for being a lot closer to the top too i'm surprised there hasn't been a change yet :D In fact I am hoping he gets the boot as I want some competition it's been that easy :D I've rotated a lot especially before European games and we've still not given an inch to the chasing pack. I'm also disappointed with Monaco, Lyon and Marseille this season, considering their signings I expected a lot more from them.

In the CL we have City next, probably the worst draw possible considering they're holders and probably the best team in England by a mile now but in a way i'd rather play the best teams to get an idea of how good we are, we improved a lot in the 2nd game v Bayern after the hiding we got in the opening game and though it was a great free kick with 2 minutes left if Oschepkov was fit I wouldn't have expected a 35 yarder to go past him like it did Bolat.

PSG have caught us slightly but it's not because our form has been that bad, they have just seemed to have their traditional fight back in the 2nd half of the season which at least makes it interesting. The City result was the disappointing one, I genuinely thought we could go in to the 2nd leg with at least a chance but it is tough now  though we will give it a go.

One new signing for £475k, has a French nationality too so  it keeps with what i'm trying to do

Not happy at all with the end of the season, we've managed to outdo Lyon in terms of throwing it away :( It wasn't even really as if we had any bad patches, IIRC the only thing even close to a bad patch all season would be the times where we went 2 without a win. Even with the disappointment though I also feel it wasn't a bad season, at least were actually in a title race this year so that's a positive.

I've pretty much identified where changes need to made and this will be my busiest window for a while I feel, there's interest in a few of my players that will allow me to juggle about and i've decided though they've served me well over the past 6 seasons the old guard from the National finally have to go too. It'll be sad seeing the likes of Eren, Himcinschi and Silvestri go as they were part of what got us to this position in the first place, yes a few have already gone but these 3 really were important to getting us where we are now.  The Halilovic experiment really hasn't worked, for his quality he should have been tearing this league apart most weeks and not once a month and with Interest from Real, Barca, Inter, Spurs and Arsenal a big fee for him is really tempting though I may hold on a year there.

Only one of note from the youth intake but looks a really promising one again.

 thiery.thumb.JPG.d7efe2d9929f735f6a52e66c9692d668.JPG

I'm not going to give myself a target at this stage as I need to look just how much we get done over the summer but a pair of full backs are already on their way in, plus a striker from Lyon so the rest will be dependant on how much we bring in through sales now.

We spent a massive £54M this summer breaking the club transfer record twice in weeks (£13.75 on Bidart followed by £14M on Ergin) a further £18M was spent between the 2 full backs on what's been my biggest overhaul of the squad since the 2nd season. The rest was all spent on talent to fill the reserve team in positions where we are lacking for possible future players.  We have a further £75M to spend if needed thanks to the outgoings

transfers.thumb.JPG.baa112cd3f1a27d35d94e6e4e3d7cc23.JPG

Halilovic was ones of those that I was debating about letting leave but Ergin was on my radar so after Spurs bid I negotiated it to £30M and 25% of the next fee and once they agreed it was too good a deal to turn down knowing Ergin was available for half the price. I also made £9M from cashing in Petrov's sell on and another £12M or so from others i've let go over the past few years which boosted the finances too. We have £65M in the bank so wouldn't spend the full £75M but a top class center half is the next move for certain as I am going to evaluate Ayoub Messaoudi, Bruno Mougel and Marouene Zouita and see if they can come in and improve the midfield next year.

4 first teamers is something I wouldn't normally do at the risk of team cohesion unless it was exceptional circumstances like promotion but we do need to make a step up after last year so I felt it was warranted.  Gabriel Silva wasn't originally on my get rid of list even with the inclusion of Didier but £15M for what essentially would be a 27 year back up was a deal I felt too good to turn down, especially after 3 lots of tutoring Lovell who is coming along well in the reserves plus Beshia did a good job there last season when called upon so I took the decision to accept

With the changes and big spending by Lyon, PSG, Monaco (obviously with those 2) Marseille and Rennes  (now tycoon owned)  I am going to be realistic and say a top 3 is the aim, I'm hoping for more obviously but they've all signed some very good players so at this stage i'd be shooting myself in the foot if predicted any higher without the season even kicking off.

Decent start so far by us, there's one or 2 things i'd like to see us improve on but on the whole i'm happy.  We got the worst CL group possible on first look so grateful to get 3 points from the first game as the home ones are the ones that will be vital for progression.

I've decided to promote 3 of the kids to make the numbers up a little as we were operating with only 18 in the first team squad which I think isn't enough especially if I need to rotate.

It's been a much better than expected start for us and though after last years collapse i'm not getting carried away yet we do seem a lot better this time around.  Ergin coming in has made a big difference, it's good to have an AMC do what they're supposed to for a change.

Topping my CL group I had hoped to get an easier side but we ended up with Chelsea :D In fairness though there weren't any real shock exits but Poto or Roma would have been ideal for us.  That said realistically I know we're not good enough for that yet but we're still seed 4th so a slightly better showing is needed to try and boost or ranking and get an easier group.

I don't know if the effects of too much buche de Noel caught up with the players after Christmas but a defeat and 3 draws in the league has let PSG back in the race, i'll leave the Chelsea one out as that was a very good result for us especially considering the form we were in at the time. In all honesty I don't have a clue what went on during that period, we weren't even playing badly but nothing seemed to go our way, we even missed 2 penalties in that period too :D  Thankfully we built enough of a lead to keep us ahead but we can't keep having stupid spells like especially as we should have beaten all of them really and March sees us play PSG, Lyon and Chelsea in consecutive games so hopefully the Chelsea followed by Lorient was more of a kickstart for us as this is a tricky period.

14 points in Cl group and first place,14 points difference from PSG ,amazing mate bravo..:applause:What is Dijon doing up there??

Cheers, we obviously lost a bit of steam so we really needed that cushion especially as i've seen a few times now that PSG really get their act together in the 2nd half of the season. Dijon are a pretty stable mid table side in fairness to them :D since 2014 their lowest place was 11th and have had 7th and 8th placed finishes

Bit of a struggle (though not like the collapse of last year) but we finally got the title in the end. I think the 4 signings were exactly what we needed to push us up that extra level. The depth of the squad is also a lot better now which helped a lot especially before big games where I needed to keep the strongest XI fit but we still have a bit more to go in terms of Europe.

There's not going to be as many changes (or at least paid for) next season as the midfield will bolstered by Ayoub Messaoudi and Marouene Zouita's promotion to the first team so it is only CB where I have intentions of looking but as it stands there's a few i'm looking at but no bids have been made. I've got a couple of talents lined up for the reserve side but again it's only to replace 1 of the 2 midfielders, a striker and right winger the rest is pretty settled there and with only a game per week for them the manager sticks to his main XI so I don't want to stockpile just for the sake of it as I see the reserves as a natural progression at a good standard and if it doesn't look like someone will make the step up then i'd sell and replace.

Two of note from the youth intake and we have a 2nd from China and an Icelandic lad

No incomings at all for the first team as predicted though we were in the race for an unbelievable striker from PSV but unsurprisingly he picked Chelsea :D It is one area I am starting to think about a little though as our main striker despite obviously looking brilliant just isn't getting enough, I don't think we've had a 20 goal striker since the move away from the diamond so this season I am going to swap Schwarz to left wing and CF backup and Bidart will be the main striker.

I've promoted these 3 from the reserves in the hope they make the step up

An almost perfect start bar the CCT defeat against PGS sees us as the early pace setters, i'm happy with the balance of the squad and confident enough in it to think once injuries and suspensions start to kick in that we will be strong enough to cope with it. The CL group is a potentially tricky one and i'll be honest 6 games against Real in 4 seasons is getting boring :D Being seeded 2nd I knew we'd have one of the big guns but it could have been someone else, especially given our record against them :D

Generally quite a pleasing start to the season but for some reason once or twice a year we have a spell where no matter what we do we just can't buy a win for a good few weeks which is a little concerning. I know it happens to every team and probably wouldn't even complain if it was the same results but spread out more but obviously when it happens in one big spell you tend to notice it more :D Overall though we've done well and the kids that have been promoted have done much better than expected which is a nice bonus.

At the moment my biggest complaint is with the board, player sales have been the only reason we have just over £70M in the bank, prize money hardly does much to the finances and we're in desperate need of at least an expansion to the ground even 10k would probably see us a lot less reliant on player sales and it is starting to wind me up now. Not to the point of quitting or anything but I do wish someone would come in and take over, i've not even had a youth recruitment upgrade in my whole time here. Granted we're producing 1 or 2 a year that are very promising and we're starting to see the rewards for that but it's the principle of it :D

A little surprised we topped the CL group given the sides in the draw but glad we did as we got a reasonable tie against Valencia next while Real got Spurs so finishing top did us a favour as i'd fancy Spurs a lot less if we had been 2nd, not that i'm underestimating Valencia but they're 16th in La Liga at the Xmas break so they're definitely having problems

You've made immense progress here, DM. KUTGW.

Cheers mate, our free signings early on have helped massively with this but thankfully we have enough money to be able to buy when needed now (apart from CB which seems to be the hardest to find in this save :D ) and the kids are starting to come through even if just squad players. What's pleased me most is that i've managed to pretty much do what I said I would do with the club in terms of keeping a large French base and nurturing youth either bought or from the ranks and mostly sign players from nations that the club tend to go for (struggled with the Africans but that's because of the ACON so by choice unless they have a French passport too so there's a chance they will swap aligences )  The timeframe of winning the league was a bit quicker than expected but overall I think we've made progress at the right kind of speed, we'd need a few titles to say we're better than PSG who always seem slow starters whereas we seem to finish a bit below par so glad there's a challenge from them, plus there seems to always be a 3rd decent side which changes year by year but at least it keeps it interesting

Bit of a mixed 2 months but we're still top and with Montpellier due to play PSG in midweek and then us on the Saturday the table could be totally different by the weekend but thankfully we have the 4-1 lead against Valencia so there won't be any thoughts of rotation against them ahead of the 2nd leg. I think the most pleasing thing so far is how the 3 promoted players have settled in to the side, they are all pretty much first choice now which is tempting me to let Coquelin go at the end of the year and promote another.

Yifen has been staking a claim to be my first choice CF in recent weeks, his finishing has always put me off him being first choice and until Vial was promoted to the first team he was never anything but a backup winger but i'm tempted to make a few changes in the forward 3 next season and could be one that benefits from it.

Our only realistic chance of silverware is the title, this is my worst season for domestic cups but it also a blessing as I think our involvement in them hasn't helped us at the tail end of the last few seasons so it'll be interesting to see how we do without those extra games this year even though i'd rather be in them still as I believe our reserves are probably strong enough to win both in most years.

A slightly easier season to win the title but even so the signs are there that PSG will always be there if we slip up so we do have to keep improving to keep ahead of them.

The main disappointment is obviously the Juve game :( We got ourselves in a great position in the first leg and what should have been a formality after going a goal ahead in the 2nd turned in to a 5 minute spell of madness (Spurs fans know how this is against them :D ) but overall it was a good campaign and we are showing improvements in Europe year on year so I won't dwell on it for too long.

stadium.thumb.JPG.b6792505712eab33f1413c398f1b5884.JPG

Finally the board agree to the expansion :D it's taken 3 years to get this so i'm delighted. I nearly asked for a stadium but i'm determined to get a stadium named after me and i'm high in the icon list so i'll not be asking until I am a legend here :D

Edit went forward a few weeks and it was even better than expected hopefully this will help us keep our finances in check as we are losing a few million a month atm.

 stadium.thumb.JPG.bab0a4e4ed8b9606d67e17f3358cd62b.JPG

Nobody was worth signing from the youth intake which is a bit of a shame but the odd bad year is to be expected and we do have quite a few in the youth and reserves waiting for a chance anyway so it isn't a big deal.

Not a busy window at all because in all honesty I don't want to stockpile players as i'm pretty happy with the squad as it stands, I haven't been impressed with the full backs in the reserves though so I did let them go in exchange for these 2, I probably paid over the odds but they were highly recommended so I took a punt on them, Babatunde can play all up the right so that was something that appealed to me.

An almost perfect start with the win at Real being the obvious highlight. One thing is we do seem to start slow this year and it's often taken a substitution or 2 to get us going. PSG changed manager with Ciriaco Sforza taking over and playing a flat 4-1-4-1 and it seems they haven't adapted well to this less attacking approach. They did approach me but obviously i'm not interested atm and tbh I doubt there's going to be a time when I will be :D

Comfortable so far both in the league and Europe though we did have our usual Autumn blip it wasn't as bad as usual so i'm happy with that but again the goals seem to be lacking from strikers and we just don't seem to get any consistency from any of them and I have tried to give all 3 a run of games each to give them a chance to stake their claim.

It's strange looking at the table with PSG nowhere near us, Monaco and Montpellier seem to be our main challengers though Rennes have been good this year and Lens look to have some really good players on their books now so could be future contenders if they keep progressing like they have (a cup win and another final last year) .

In the next round of the CL we have Roma who are currently top of Serie A so it is a tricky tie but we're improving each year so we certainly are good enough to beat sides like them on our day now.

Comfortable 2 months for us progressing in the cup and well ahead in the table. Roma is still in the balance but 2-2 away from home is a good result and hopefully we can see the job off in the home leg. It's been nice to get a few more goals in the last few weeks too so hopefully that will continue as it's felt a bit workman like at times this year.

Don't usually make a separate post for this but we've had quite a mix of nationalities this year

youth.thumb.JPG.13ce38ba29ee8bc16381f8962fd864c4.JPG

Due to having Yifeng come through I made the decision that in the first season we got in to the top flight to gradually grow affiliate clubs to give us knowledge of their scouting ect; and nothing more as with the reserves playable we haven't a need to send players out and also saves messing about with friendlies against them. This is probably the most varied lot we've had so far which is why I picked now to post about it. Even a few of the French lads have 2nd nationality too. So far we have clubs in

  • Brazil
  • Chile
  • China
  • France (x8)
  • Germany
  • Iceland
  • Israel
  • Italy
  • Spain
  • Uruguay

and it's starting to show now. Of the players listed i've signed down to Julio as he's potentially a good Ligue 1 player, the chances are a few won't make it but it's more in the hope of making a bit of money than wanting 1st team potential atm as i'm overloaded in every position. It's the first time i've really got affiliates for this purpose as i've always left it until rep is worldwide and just go for the financial partners so this is making a nice change from my way of doing things

Comfortable for us all season really where we beat our own points record by 1 point. Our first domestic clean sweep was also very pleasing but the manner of our European exit somewhat took the gloss out of it. After a 1-1 draw in the first leg we were awarded an early penalty that we missed, then by the 20th minute Zouita had received his 2nd yellow and from that moment on we went from being on top to under the cosh and eventually lost 2-0 :( The signs are that we are very close to winning it but we don't half get some bad luck in the knockout stages :D

After a while of moaning my strikers don't get enough goals I have done something about it and brought a new striker in for next season (i'll cover that in the pre season report) and then typically 2 of them get over 30 goals each :D My mind was pretty much made up to do something different and in all honesty I don't think going 2 seasons without adding to the first team is a good idea.

There is some major news too and our 89th season at the Stade Saint-Symphorien will be our last, typically the board didn't name it after me even though i'm a legend

There seems to be a lot of class ones in this save, Lens have 3 that are immense, I was tempted to sign them up for myself but got no way of fitting them in :D Been offered a few from S. Korea and Japan by agents too which normally i'd be snapping up but again no room even in the reserves :D The one plus is at least if I decide to move at some point there's plenty around to sign up :D I do remember from previous FM13 saves that there are a lot of good newgens floating around especially in Eastern Europe

Not a big summer really but I did let Schwarz be the one to make way for Castillo. It could have easily been Wojnarowski instead being the makeweight but I felt wherever Schwarz has played be it on the left or up front he doesn't produce it enough whereas Wojnarowski has been a decent reserve so that meant Bidart can be first choice on the left with him in reserve. I had hoped that he'd have gone to Man United over OM but for whatever reason he chose to stay in France.

A good start to the season for us, my only moan is the Newcastle game, granted we were down to 10 for 85 minutes of it but we still managed to go 2-0 up and throw it away, apart from that i'm happy with everything, Castillo has settled in very well which is a huge plus so hopefully that will continue.

I'm actually thinking of going back to the diamond next season, I always felt we were very strong with that and the only reason I changed from that to 4-2-3-1 was because we had a lot of DM's at the time and for whatever reason the AMC wasn't always as effective as they should have been. I might not do it still but I do want to try and have a 2 striker system somehow without making a stupid formation like in my previous save, a 3-4-1-2 might be the best solution for it but that means either losing the full backs or wingers which isn't something i'm overly keen on either :(

Pretty much continuing from the last review and very comfortable in the league, we had a slip up v Monaco but even then we were all over them and just couldn't finish. The Newcastle defeat was partly unlucky/mostly my fault :D Oschepkov got injured early on and I haven't been putting a keeper on the bench so obviously an outfield player went in goal and the 3 shots on target they had went in, obviously it could just have easily happened in real life with that happening but it certainly doesn't help.

Castillo has been a revelation, it's good to finally have a striker I feel I can trust so the decision to let Schwarz go seems a good choice not just financially but for the team. Spurs are our opposition in the next round of the CL, there wasn't anyone bar PSV that could be considered easy out of the group winners so we'll have to do it the hard way if we're to go through.

A shame we couldn't progress in the cup but anything can happen in France atm, 5 of the 6 clubs that qualified for Europe are still in it and the rest of the division seems to change each year in terms of those getting amongst the top 6 so i'd like to think that it's getting to be a strong league now, the decline of PSG is strange, they changed manager mid October and re-hired Rudi Garcia but that hasn't changed anything and they're closer to Brest at the bottom than they are to us. We have a slight lead against Spurs but we're going to have to be in top form to finish the job off with the away goal against us now.

You may or may not have noticed there's a fixture missing there and there's a reason for that. With it being our first CL final I want to do the review of the season without the high/low of that game coming in to my post.

This has probably been our most complete season since the start of the save, maybe not in terms of silverware which was obviously last seasons domestic clean sweep but in terms of of performances granted there's been the odd game we could have done better but in realistic terms there's always games like that during the course of the season. The whole team just seemed to click and all the positions have been strong no matter what sort of a side I put out. I really do think Castillo has proved to be the missing link in this side he just finishes off what already was a really good team.

Whether or not we win the CL i'm happy with the season, tbh United are really strong both at home and in Europe so we go in to this as underdogs  but we are capable of beating them and casting my mind back to the semi last year against them they can be got at.

Our final game at the Stade Saint-Symphorien seen us beat newly crowned Europa winners Lens convincingly and it was a fitting way to leave the stadium. Hopefully we can go in to the new one as Champions of Europe but if not then i'm sure we'll be going for it again next year as I do feel we are getting very close to it now.

belaid.thumb.JPG.ab129d80d86e04ca4d471318263ada1d.JPGivanovic.thumb.JPG.0d48b213ad41b930562b203149e58f14.JPGjumpali.thumb.JPG.4e215ea9401715d434b54acb561d916a.JPGkirschstein.thumb.JPG.b20703f68d270cc124e61553fc6ac08d.JPG

These are the 4 i've signed from the youth intake, the problem i'm having now is deciding who to keep each year as obviously with the squad being so good even a 3 star player may end out being better than suggested. If nothing else they make they the numbers up and it's been a while/if ever since we've had a half decent keeper come through at the very least so that was much needed as I had been contemplating getting one from Rennes for a while.

There'll be no first team signings this summer if any at all, if anything it will be moving a few players on and promoting players up a level to replace so we can try and balance the books a little. This stadium move is going to be vital as are big crowds, most months we lose about £4M a month, thankfully the TV money from the CL and any prize money from that and the league makes the overall dent a lot less come the end of the year but it would be nice to start making our own money rather than player sales being the only reason we are this strong financially.

The season hasn't quite ended for them but the reserves have won their first title too, there's a few that i'll be looking to promote to the first team for next year but i'll make that choice after the CL final.

That's one way of clearing the stadium debt...

The first attempt failed, tbh I kind of hope it doesn't happen I can make money from selling players until other revenues start improving. Our current chairman has us on some crap long term sponsorships not even worth £10M  a year between 5 separate deals. Apart from to clear the debt it's not like we need the money for players either as the hard work has already been done in terms of the squad so it's all a bit pointless

These were the only dealings we had, we're well stocked in the youth and reserve sides so there was no need to buy this year especially as i'm trying to get the balance up, if a few talents around the £5/10M mark turn up then i'm open to doing business though.

A perfect start for us with plenty of goals and the defence being really tight. The CL group is the easiest so far and apart from the Espanyol games will allow me to change the way I manage my squad as I will be using reserves in the CL and try and have my first team start most league games.

Bordeaux was just one of those off days whereas for some reason we always get stitched up with a league cup fixture while the internationals are on yet most of the other top flight sides don't  I struggled to get a side out so don't really have any complaints about the way we played.
