We have a handy lead against Bayern in the CL, we should have killed them off really with the amount of chances we had so I hope that doesn't come back to haunt us. I turned down the Real Madrid job just after xmas but if I was ever to go to Spain it wouldn't be for them or any CL regulars tbh and even if I was to move it isn't something that's in my thoughts now as i've got work that I want to finish here Link to post Share on other sites More sharing options...

Dexter_Morgan Posted March 30, 2018 Author Share Posted March 30, 2018 FC Metz March - May 2022/23 After last seasons disappointment what better way to win it than against the side that beat us in that final. There's no doubt this year that we were the best side in Europe, our wins, goals for and against just show what a great side we were over the past 9/10 months. I said last year that I felt Castillo was the missing piece and that was with less than 50% of the amount of goals he's managed this year so obviously his improvement has helped the team massively. Now we are finally Europe's best there's not a lot left to achieve with this squad so i'm going to promote a few of the reserves that have just won their 2nd title in a row and let a few go, nothing drastic but enough to freshen the squad up a little. There's 3 home grown defenders in there that deserve a promotion and probably 2/3 others. It might weaken us a little short term when I rotate but I want to stick to the principles of the club and give them a chance. Not 100% convinced these 2 will make it but they're the best 2 on this years intake so I signed them up, if nothing else they'll make up numbers in the u19's The aim for next season is the same as this and simply try and win what I can. I'll be honest though and say it's likely to be my last season at the club. For me the thrill is always in the chase and once I get what I set out to do I lose interest quickly I want to try and retain the CL though just to leave the legacy and obviously I haven't won the CWC so that gives me an incentive to get me through to December at least I've got all levels of Belgium, Germany, Spain and Turkey playable from this upcoming season on top of Slovakia and i'm toying with Portugal or Greece too. I'm leaning towards wanting Belgium, Germany and Turkey for my next destination, with Turkey probably being favourite as that will be the hardest (Slovakia aside) to win the CL in. I'll start in the lowest division of wherever I pick for certain so might even retire Dexter and start out as a rookie again. What are peoples thoughts on both country and retiring as i'm undecided. Dexter_Morgan Posted April 1, 2018 Author Share Posted April 1, 2018 FC Metz June - September 2023/24 As I said at the end of last season nobody was brought in as I wanted to give players in the youth and reserves a chance to step up, VDV was an easy one to let go when Marseille came in with that offer as I am overloaded with RB's and his understudy last year Babatunde did a good enough job for me to trust him as first choice this year, in fact I think he's a bit more of a rounded player than VDV especially technically so it may have been even without the offer the German would have got the nod this year. Shi has been promoted after serving his apprenticeship in the reserves and out on loan so i'm happy with the way the deal has probably done me a favour in moving these 2 up Paybernes and Coquelin have been at the club years but have found themselves to be bit part players as they hit their 30's so I thought it was only fair for them to go out and play some games more regularly elsewhere in comes there 3 to replace them I could easily have promoted those that went on loan, Pobo, Medic, Gunnarsson and Thiery as they're all too good to be playing in the 4th tier and I did even contemplate selling as we've been getting £15M+ bids for these players but knowing I am leaving next year I decided against it as I expect a lot of bids will come in for players next year so at least there is ready made replacements already at the club. Great start for us already continuing where we left off last year and we have 2 trophies in the cabinet already. My aim is 2 more at the least. The CWC and title, cup competitions are nice but obviously in a knockout competition being the best side doesn't mean you'll win it, obviously I want to win everything we are in but these are the 2 that mean the most to us and also from a personal point of view i'd like to leave as the best club in the world. Dexter_Morgan Posted April 1, 2018 Author Share Posted April 1, 2018 FC Metz October - December 2023/24 It's a bit of a strange post to be doing this as we've only lost 1 game this year (first one in almost a year) we've got 3 trophies already, scoring just as much if not better than last year but there's a few players I think may have dropped this season. As a reader you might think different but obviously i'm the one watching each game and to me it seems a few are a bit cocky and not giving it their all like last year. One player I won't accuse of that is Castillo, even in his mini spells of no goals he's playing well and even though his tally is less than this stage last year he's got a good amount and been part of why we do so well. It gets to 60/70 minutes and if we're comfortable i'm subbing him off to save him he's that vital and he's only missed 2 games all season. I've got the full set set for the club now so that's probably my season done in terms of what I wanted to achieve but the title is enough to see me finish the year out and be happy. It's a shame in a way as I intended this as a one club thread, I knew the first season we should be going up but the 2nd was unexpected and then somehow getting 2nd in our 2nd season in Ligue 1 changed all of that as we got better players quickly on top of those that came through the system. I'm going to make changes to the DB to make sure it won't be as easy and I know the country now but the club will depend on what's available, all I'll commit to is the rules are so strict it's not going to be easy Link to post Share on other sites More sharing options...

I am 99% sure the Barca win is my highest ever away to them (pretty sure i've never managed more than 4 there) which is pleasing because there's been a fair few times when i've had 6,7 and even an 8 go past me against them on various saves so it's nice to finally do a real number on them Apart from that little bit of personal satisfaction it also means I don't have to worry about the 2nd leg so much, the chances are i'll still play the strongest XI against them as our league games aren't particularly tricky before the next leg but it's good to have the option as i've had to go strong in every CL game this year so far as it's been a much tougher run than last year where I got away with playing reserves until the knockout stages and was able to focus on the league with the best XI each week. Thanks, we've been almost unstoppable for the past 2 seasons, we actually played every single game possible this year (We didn't manage the complete clean sweep though) Lens have seemed to do really well ever since they came up and picked up some great bargains from South America especially, the thing is I'm not sure how they've got so lucky because once I clicked on the sort of quality they were bringing in I checked their scouts out to poach for myself But it turned out their attributes weren't very good so I don't understand how they've managed it in all honesty That said they won 2 Europa Leagues in a row and made this years CL final so they are definitely getting big, the Europa was also an all French final this year with Le Mans beating Lille As for France, I meant to write at the time that they won the 2022 World cup, Bidart was top scorer and Yifeng was player of the tournament. The season is over and done with, I am going to write the report soon, i'm just deciding on a few things like whether to retire this manager or not especially as i've got it down to a choice of 2 countries, 1 is one that i've only just loaded and tbh it seems a bit weird going from what i've achieved to this country as it wouldn't happen in real life and the other country is Spain as Deportivo de La Coruna have just gone down to the 3rd division and though the job isn't available yet i'm pretty sure it will be soon and I think that would be a huge challenge and definitely harder to conquer than France was with the likes of Barca and Real to compete with eventually. Dexter_Morgan Posted April 3, 2018 Author Share Posted April 3, 2018 FC Metz March - June 2023/24 So after 13 seasons in France I nearly ended up having a clean sweep to finish an amazing chapter with the club, the only person to blame for the failure was myself as I had the United game the following Wednesday in mind and changed everyone bar the keeper then made my substitutions too late to make a difference but if we was going to miss out on something i'd rather it have been that comp in all fairness and we have won it more than our fair share of times over the years so it's not the end of the world. I'm relieved in a way this season is over, i've struggled to get in to this season in all honesty as I knew once I won the CL once i'd more than likely get the urge to move, especially as the squad all the way through is so good there just couldn't be any sort of improvement. Maybe if i'd have Castillo a few years earlier it might have tempted me to see how many goals I could get out of him after his 2 lots of 80+ but at 24 it'd be a push to get 1000 goals out him but along with Ergin that would be the only thing that could have tempted me to stay as they both did excellently for the club. Along with new contracts for everyone to ensure that the club at least get full value for anyone who does go this was my parting gift to the club this will take it up to 63,225 with us being known with worldwide rep now I have no doubt the club will fill it most weeks I'm happy with everything i've done at the club and adding 25 trophies to the 4 that were previously held by the club I feel that i've done more than enough and even though I knew i'd be leaving i've left each squad equipped to carry on competing at the top for a long time to come. I've hinted that Spain (Deportivo de La Coruna) is probably my aim if the job becomes available but i'd also be tempted by any former GDR side but we'll see as the time passes on as I don't really want to holiday for a full year. Dexter_Morgan Posted April 4, 2018 Author Share Posted April 4, 2018 For now I have holidayed a year and nothing tempting has turned up, Bilbao and Dresden offers have been saved but i'd really like a go at the A League with Western Sydney, problem is the board seems happy for them to finish last and not sack their manager I am debating something being bumped but I need to make sure it can run without the file as that seems to not be in this particular folder but I think it could be something I could get straight back in to if it'll run properly Link to post Share on other sites More sharing options...
