Beerschot
what facilities does the player use ? player z = 17 years old player x = 20 years old player y = 25 years old 1) if player x plays for the u-19's (not selected as a first team'er) then he uses the youth facilities. 2) if player x is selected and plays for the first team . Does he use the youth or the training facilities ? 3) if player y is downgraded to the u-19's. Does he use the youth or the training facilities ? 4) if player z is selected and plays for the first team . Does he use the youth or the training facilities ? because i am upgrading my facilities and not having enough money to do both at the same time it's very important to use the best facilities at that moment as efficiently as possible. herne79
All players from all of your visible squads use your Training Facilities. Your Youth Facilities are for your unseen Junior teams and is one of the factors in determining the quality of the young players in your annual youth intake. Deep-Lying Goalkeeper
So are the numerous online guides such as this http://www.guidetofootballmanager.com/squad/player-development wrong as they claim that youth facilities affect "how quickly current ability improves for players in the youth squad"? Are the descriptions for youth recruitment and junior coaching also erroneous? @herne79

So where that guide you linked says that Training Facilities are for the senior squad and Youth Facilities are for your youth teams, it's wrong. In a nutshell: Training Facilities are for all visible players at your club, the quality of which affects player development. Youth Recruitment, Junior Coaching and Youth Facilities all impact the quality (CA and PA) of Newgens.

But I'm still a bit confused what the youth recruitment, junior coaching and youth facilities actually do. Impact the quality of Newgens yes, but how, and what is the difference between them? But I'm still a bit confused what the youth recruitment, junior coaching and youth facilities actually do. Impact the quality of Newgens yes, but how, and what is the difference between them? Youth Recruitment - kind of as it sounds, it simulates bringing in Junior players (10, 11, 12 etc year olds) to your club. Note that this doesn't really happen - there aren't actually any Junior teams in FM (Under 11s, Under 12s etc) - rather it simulates this when your new young players are generated during the annual youth intake. This is why some of your Newgens will say they've already been at your club for 3 years whereas others don't say that. Junior Coaching - the number and quality of Junior coaches for your Junior teams. They don't actually "exist" as such in game, it's part of the simulation used for when Newgens are created. Youth Facilities - might be an idea to re-brand this as "Junior Facilities" to avoid confusion. Again these don't actually "exist", it's a simulation of where your Junior players train (and your Junior Coaches work) prior to their appearance in your youth team during the annual youth intake. So short version, these 3 areas are all for simulation purposes in their respective fields and thus help with the quality (their current and potential ability) of Newgens when they appear on annual youth intake day.
