  1. I had two midfielders in their 40s (playing at the lowest division). They were slower but didn't tire any more than the rest of the team toward the end of the match. I actually found that a bit strange, perhaps a tad glitchy...

  2. Second season with Palm Beach Stars as newly promoted in the Netflix Championship was very weird. I hired a top Mexican striker who was scoring like crazy. I was leading the league table. However, no American players wanted to come join us (most of my 200k payroll was not being used). In the meanwhile, my players were being poached by other clubs one by one quite easily! It was just a question of time I'd start losing ground on the table...

It was then that I got an offer from Athletic Detroit, also in Netflix Championship but in the regional Great Lakes Conference. As a major difference, the Tigers has professional status with a much larger payroll (5 million dollar) and higher caliber players and scouting range. More resources on staffing and training. A no brainer...

  3. I started a new save using Zealand's FM22 USA mod with a seven-league system (with promotion/relegation) comprising 1,000 clubs (90% exist IRL). The names of the leagues are fictitiously sponsored by big tech brands: Netflix, Amazon, Tesla... Pretty cool, and super immersive.

I chose Palm Beach Springs, a semi-professional club in the seventh division (South-Atlantic regional of the Netflix League One). One reason is that I'm actually thinking about moving to Florida... The club exists IRL but doesn't seem very active due to the pandemic.

As I checked my squad, only two players were real and had salaries (all others were those faceless placeholder profiles). I sold the 38-year-old Dutch defender who absorbed 90% of my payroll, and with the savings I was able to hire about 10 American players (mostly kids in their 15-17) and 3 five-star foreigners. I also hired two midfielders who were in their late 40s (!) but actually had good stamina and were pretty technical (in addition to great mentors to the kids).

The league is super well organized and exciting all throughout. It's scary to see 28 clubs in the league, but after 27 matches it breaks in two halves, and the top 14 clubs play 13 matches. Top 4 are promoted to Netflix Championship.

The first season was quite easy for Palm Spring Stars! Though predicted to finish mid-table, I finished as runner-up, after a generous playoff system!

I was thus promoted to the Netflix Championship league - Atlantic Conference (sixth division)

Thanks. I'm very much limited knowledge that's why I asked on this forum. I wouldn't want to download anything that could harm my new computer that's why I was wondering if anybody could advise me on any such websites that sell the downloads legally and safely

Sorry to ask: why would you want to download older versions of the game, since you have a new computer?... (3D didn't even exist before FM09).

  5. Back in 2009, when 3D engine was first adopted in FM, people would overlook graphic bugs. Typical comment was, "FM is a strategy game, so 3D graphics don't matter". Yet, the visual aspect of FM is probably a big attraction for a much larger number of gamers, and most probably a reason for sales growth over the years.

3D improvements are so minor year over year that a regular fan won't notice much.

A FM YouTuber posted a video discussing the lack of audio in FM (other than the highly dull in-match crowd sounds most people turn off). That's an insightful commentary, as FM is indeed a quite silent game, just like a 1920s black & white movie...

After 2 weeks worth of emails and suggestions from the support team and doing what they suggest a few times over, my problem of the game crashing still persists.  In the end, the support team asked me for the crash dump files and they will send it to the developers. There is no promise as when they will get back to me and I don't expect it to be too fast.

So meanwhile I still play the game, saving very frequently  and having to go through at least 3 crashes every time I play.

Is there anybody else having the same persistent crashing problem as me?

I am even thinking of reinstalling my Windows and maybe that will solve some unknown hidden problem.

Sorry to hear about your problem. It sucks when this happens.

This happened with me today but because the graphic card was updating, so it was expected. Other than that, I haven’t had your type of problem in many years…

    Good luck!

  7. You can rename players and staff to identify them more easily. For example, all my coaches are renamed as “Coach XYZ”, players I want to hire I add a * and position, such as “Smith MR *”, etc.

I also rename all my players, I just use one word, usually their family name, sometimes a nickname or something that differentiates two players with the same surname.

  8. This chore feeling happens sometimes when I play in super long leagues that last forever (46+ matches) and my club isn’t actually fighting for anything exciting. When this happens, I go to another club, or just start a new save.

Other than that, you can take a break for a few days, go play some Axis & Allies boardgame, read a book or watch Netflix… That break will refresh FM.

Star ratings are a subjective judgement by the staff members offering the report, and is reflection of how good a player is compared to
    a) the quality of players in your squad.
    b) the standard of your league.

If you were managing a non-league side in England and asked for a scout report on a bang-average midtable PL midfielder, they'd be five-star rated player; if you signed him, he'd be so far beyond anything in your squad and so far beyond any players in the league. But to Man City, who have Bernardo Silver, Rodri and De Bruyne, he'd be (at best) around 2-3 stars; a useful squad player but not much more.

I wouldn't use star ratings as anything more than a vague guide to how good a player is, a bit like the lettered 'grade' rating you get with a scout report. Their actual attributes, and how those attributes fit into your tactics, are much more important.

So, does this mean that you'll never see a five-star player at an elite club (because everybody in the league is at the highest level already)?...
