  1. I'm coaching a poor small club with limited scouting staff and resources. I'm scouting for players, and can invite them for trials or scout them.

It seems that trial invitations are immediate (the player comes over the next day), whereas scouting my take one week (or game) or more.

Is it possible to see how much a trial invitation (per week) costs to my club? And the cost of scouting one player in my country? If so, where in finance please?

Which are the pros/cons of trial versus scout, at least from a financial/cost point of view?

    Thanks,

This is the latest topic I found when searching about this.

Anyway, has there been improvement since the latest update? I just got the game, so couldn't tell if there is any difference. But it is weird seeing Ronaldo only scoring 12 in the league. My Inglese got 19 as pressing forward, so not too unhappy with it. He does miss lots of 1v1s by shooting straight at the goalkeeper.

Regardless, my question is, there's no placed shot or goalkeeper rushing out and getting lobbed in 1v1s like older version? Those varieties were great. Even my sweeper keeper doesn't really sweep forward, come to think of it.

As of April 2019, I'd say the problem still remains a bit. However, this might have been by design. I've been persistently training my team for "Attack Wing work" (with more Agility and Quickness work as well) and strikers seems to be having a slightly better time scoring. Strange nonetheless...

  3. I am quite disappointed with FM19, to the point of maybe dropping it all.

The new Training system is a monstrous micro-management whole I'm not willing to invest days to learn, again. Not to mention the new Tactics. The purple also looks like a quite arbitrary addition. Not to mention a couple of crashes.

Unfortunately, I can't recommend the new game to anyone new or old to the game.

Totally agree with that. I also think that how the newgens look is really important. As I've said elsewhere I use the faces from sortitoutsi's automatic regen replacement pack to give them "proper" faces.

Thanks for the face pack tip. Real people faces makes the game look much better. (A shame the pack has minor issues with race and ethnicity, but a big improvement nevertheless).

  5. Thanks for participating, everybody.

It is a bit surprising that nearly 40% of FM gamers play up to 5 seasons only. That seems an awful short period of time, just to set up a team and then drop it a couple of seasons later...

On the other hand, I understand that regens seem to be an off-putting feature for many gamers, as decades pass by... (and specially when most look exactly like my avatar does! :-)

  6. Does a coach effectiveness decline during the language course? How so, or by how much?

Likewise, if I don't send him to a language course, I assume that he will learn the language but at a lower pace, and that in the meantime, his effectiveness is also reduced, right? How bad is the impact?...

Is it like as it he had less star(s), or a lower coaching rate?

    Thanks.

  7. I'm having a good time playing FM18, but noticed some bizarre and disappointing changes (also noted by other gamers in the forum): the scouting system, the transfer offers, the match-day interface...

I wonder if SI does proper concept testing with average users, or is it Miles and some other bigwigs who decide "hey, let's change some sh*t just because...".

Please don't change the game interface so radically and unnecessarily.

  8. When I was a child, I used to spend hours indulging in fictional tournaments, stories and games, but that was among many activities (indoors, outdoors, alone, social, etc.). Now, I monitor myself regarding spending too much time on anything: FM, TV, work etc.  (See, for example, my post FM17 Addiction: How Many Hours You Play?)

Any psychologist will say that as long as there is a sense of wellbeing and it doesn't affect one's life functioning, then it's ok...

Being most jobs meaningless anyways, I'm inclined to say that any hobby you can make a living of (at least some $$$) is all the better. If you can be the new JK Rowling of football, go for it.
