  1. I recently won the Champions League and paid almost £500k bonus (DoF negotiation) to a player who was on loan for the entire season. Ergo, he did not play a single game for me during the competition.

Should competition acheivement bonuses also have some degree of qualifiers attached? E.g., prorated based on games played in the competition or a minimum games played to receive the full bonus (otherwise prorated amount).

I recall there being minimum games played qualifiers for competition achievement transfer fees. Do these kind of clauses not exist at a player contract level IRL?

  2. I routinely give all players the same competition bonus amounts, and the current process is pretty tedious. Click, Europa League qualification, set value, Click, Champions League qualification, set value, Click Premier League winner, set value, Click Knockout Stage Qualification, set value, et cetera, et cetera, et cetera (channeling Yul Brenner)

I believe the current process of clicking/adding the various performance and competition bonuses is tedious. It can be made less so by allowing users to create a structure or template that loads the pre-defined performance and competition bonuses.

This could be implemented similar to how I can delegate the loan offer wage contribution, playing time, nation, et al on the Staff Responsibilities ->  Transfer & Contract Responsibilities -> Offer to Club page. Then when I click Offer Contract, the bonus structure is pre-loaded and I can make adjustments to the values as I see fit.

In an expanded functionality, we could have presets values for each of the Agreed Playing Time tiers (similar to different loan offer values for first team, reserve, and youth team players).

Indeed. But paying a thousand pound for a computer, I would expect that computer to perform well on all those tasks and more.

You seem to be fixated on the price point / performance debate. The intent of my post isn't about whether or not the processor can perform well running FM and other programs. It does. I thought we settled that shortly after the release of the game and the M1 chip.

There are a few people that had reported crashes here about a month ago, and I'm trying see if people were still experiencing crashes playing the game.

Is it the game itself,  or a mod, or if there's a third party program in play. A couple skins are mucking around with the match panels to restore some old functionality and information. Could that be causing a crash during matches or is it just correlation?

I haven't been experiencing crashes in the last month or so of playing. Mars indicated his was because of a funky DB. jwa is playing FM20, which, while using the same emulator, wasn't developed with the M1 in mind or a dev kit available for in-house testing, so out of scope, in my opinion. @jessejessterand @Icondacarver?

In fairness, mods and unofficial editors could crash the game in Windows too - but that would be more down to these items being unstable than them being taxing on the hardware.

Yeah, would expect so, but the Windows machines don't have the additional wrinkle of running the third party tool and FM on an emulator. It could still be unique to M1 Macs, right?

    Nope

What price point are you talking about then? I was reaching out to see if anyone using the M1 MBP was still experiencing FM crashes (and added context for my other programs running). I wouldn't expect additional programs running. But if you're running one of the RTEs? Experimental skins? League mods or experimental databases? Those are pieces that could be crashing the game.

  5. Using and accessing notes on a player is a bit tedious.

I believe this could be improved fairly easily.

    1. Quick-access and Pop-up note creation
      1. Keyboard Shortcut to create note and a button on the sidebar that creates a note.
      2. Have note creation pop-up over current screen, rather than navigating to the manager notebook panel.
    2. Include a "Notes" panel on the player/staff overview page that lists all notes created for player.
      1. Include a "Create Note" button within the panel
    3. Include a "Create Note" button on the player card in the Scout Meeting
    4. Introduce a "quick notes" concept.
      1. Users can create note templates to reduce repetitive writing.
      2. I envision this as being accessible on the right-click menu. When a note template exists, it creates a Sub-Menu on the Misc -> Create Note -> Transfer Target
      3. Template includes title, note contents, and categories. When used, it pops up the note form, pre-populated with your template but allows you to set date.
    5. Batch Notes
      1. Allow user to select several players at once and apply the same note to the player.

  6. Summary: Final twelve minutes of the match (plus added time) was played with players lined up for kick off after a goal was scored.

Details: I had planned a sub before a goal was scored and was in the process of changing the substitution. I may have paused the game when the goal was scored in order to keep the substitution from committing and get the edit through. Upon resumption, the players lined up for kickoff and stayed there for the remaining twelve minutes of the match.

Frequency: Issue has only occurred the one time. Have completed four matches without incident since encountering bug.

Work Around: I was able to speed through the match and continue by switching to commentary only and turning up the speed of the match.

    FM Version: 21.2.2

    OS: BigSur 11.2.1

Mods: Lightly modded base dark skin; pre-game edits to revise competition and club names.

Upload: "Frozen_Kickoff_20210219.zip" includes save game prior to match (~3 days prior to incident), post match (immediately after match), and game PKM file.

  7. I would like to be able to have scheduled/routine substitutions, as a part of or similar to match plans.

If leading by one goal in 80-90 minutes, sub starting MCL for designated bench player, change tactical role from MEZ(A) to DLP(D).

If leading by two goals in 70-90 minutes, sub starting striker for best suited bench player (AssMan's discretion).

Might also have occurred when I had my MB connected to an external monitor, then unplugged and the game window reorganizing to the resolution of the laptop window. It's been a month since I played, so fuzzy memory.

My Mac FM folder doesn't have any crash dumps in it.

I've been playing more heavily for the first time in a month. Haven't had any crashes and have run through roughly two months in game.

Settings are Extended Highlights, 2D Classic View (Director Replay), All graphics settings are on High, except Anti-Aliasing (Medium).

I'll play a couple matches with a 3D view and see if I get any crashes.

For those of you with crashes, are you running other applications while you're playing?

An update. Have played January 2022 through June 2022 with Vertical Scrolling camera, Extended highlights and same graphics settings as the second quoted post.

No crashes at any point. Routinely have Excel, Twitter, iMessage, Facebook messenger, and Safari with several tabs open. Was streaming CL matches yesterday for a time.

Having now spoken to FM devs and Apple I agree with the above @kevhamster.

As things stand the onus is on Apple to improve their emulation to allow FM to run without issue. I'd argue the onus going forwards is on SI to ensure FM can run natively on Apple Silicon. Until I can play the game with no crashes I won't be replacing my FM2020 version of the game sadly.

I'm playing FM2021 and SI, via Miles, indicated it worked on the development kits.

I haven't tried playing FM2020 on the MBP, but the logic of not getting the latest version seems counter-intuitive. I'd expect some stability and bug fixes out for FM2021 as there is support cycle overlap after the release of the M1 chipset. Persisting with a game that has completed its support life-cycle at the time of the M1 chip release will never get stability issues resolved.

  12. This is currently achieved by altering player instructions (shoot less often, pass/cross more often). If those are hard-coded, then you need to choose a different role for the player in question (IF to IW for example, or attack to support duty).

Are you asking that there be tactical shouts in place of digging through the team and player instructions? All of the existing shouts are aimed at improving the player moral and body language.

Not a big stretch to think that one day, the team/player instructions in-game are replaced by tactical shouts that are directed at specific individuals, the whole team, or units -defense, midfield, attack.

I would certainly appreciate not having to fully block the pitch view to change TI/PI.

  13. The wording of one-on-one talks have this time frame (immediately, next transfer window, end of season).

Promises made at the beginning of the campaign expire the day of or after the final game of the season. The tweak here would be to have this date should be the end of off-season transfer window, rather than the immediate end of the season.

If you go to your manager profile/home page and click promises, you can see the remaining time on the promise. I believe that you generally get reminders a month out, in the form of a news item from your staff updating you in the status of promises or player agitating that no progress has been made.

  14. Commercial deals for the club are not generally in roles and responsibilities of the first team manager.

Selling ad space that appear in game as commercial or sponsorship deals with your club maybe, but the manager interaction piece, doubtful.

Alternative might be that once you obtain a certain reputation level, you as the manager have your own endorsement section. The higher your reputation, the big the monetary value and brand reach (local, regional, national, continental, global), but generally remains superfluous to the core game, IMO.

  17. Set your manager’s player and youth knowledge 1. You’ll have to scout players extensively before you get all attributes and pros/cons, etc.

It doesn’t make games and tactics harder, but it becomes a really PITA if you need a replacement player in a pinch and you don’t have anyone scouted.

Don’t use the global player search, and only go to the Scouted Players page in the scouting/transfer center.

    Hi all,

Sorry if this is in the wrong place. My friend is looking into purchasing the MacBook Air 2020 with the M1 chip to do basic work, surf the internet and play Football Manager 2021. He's asked if the MacBook Air 2020 will run Football Manager 2021 well. I've googled some reviews and it seems it will run it but there are issues with the size of the database/issues with the 3D match engine but this was from reviews of football manager with older Macbook Airs so not sure if its the same issue with the newer Macbook air.

Anyone have any idea about the performance on the latest macbook air? Any personal reviews?

    Many thanks in advance!

Pretty extensive thread here. I posted a few examples of my battery performance and league set up.
