The weakest link of my team was attack, I tryed lots of combinations of strikers and finally found the right pair just before the end of the season - Josemi <> Akinbiyi. We started this season with a new tactic which didn't work the way I would have liked. We were lack of confidence, lack of goals and had a spell of bad luck in several matches (which is no excuse for my team's performances ). As always we didn't have a decent run in both cups, maybe except for the FA Cup where I lost to Nunos Fulham 0:1 away from home. I forced him to play his best football . The season went on and we balanced between 6-10 places. Nearer the enf of the season we were 4 points behind the play-off place and I decided to change my tactic. When just 10 games left I finally made a decent tactic that helped me to finish on the 4th place (last session we won 8, lost 1 and made 1 draw).
================================================================================================ 2003/4 Fixtures ================================================================================================ Date Opposition Ven Competition Res Attend Scorers ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 4.8.03 Fulham H Friendly 1:2 24588 Gravesen 9.8.03 Q.P.R. I consulted my fixture list just to found out that we lost to Nottingham Forest in both matches in the regular season. I had many wishes of good luck from my co-members of the clan and with it I put my players on the pitch . I can't say that we should have won the first match but at least a draw would be a fair result. Unfortunately they scored the only goal of the game which gave them a big advantage. On the way to Nottingham I thought that there is still a chance of us winning this clash. Unfortunately for me, there also were officials on the pitch who made a win for Forest "a piece of cake" . I had a goal dissalowed, then had my player sent-off whick made it almost impossible to win it. I was very proud with the display my team showed. We battled till the final whistle and were unlucky not to share the points with them. The Final Result was 2:3. Jone
Yesterday we managed to finish the summer although it too 7 hours . We suffered many crashes and the game kept freezing all the time. During the summer I really managed to strenghten the squad, it is now IMO good enough for us to get to CL semis. I snapped up French keeper Sebastien Frey on a bargain transfer of £3.7m, I'd been tracking the youngster for over a half a year but he was never interested but my contarct offer was un-rejectable as I more than five-doubled his wages to a whooping £65k/week . After I'd seasled this transfer I was able to let go Cudicini go and he finally left for Sheff Wed for £5m To strengten my defense I signed Belgian international Joos Valgeren from Celtic. He cost me £12m which is quite a lot but I needed a proper DC . To Mike's disappointment I snapped up Portuguese superstart Cadinha after his transfer bid for him had been cancelled. I payed £12.5m for the youngster but IMO he was worth every penny as I've never seen a more promsing player in my carrér. I also snapped up Belgian striker Emile Mpenza for £12m after the player had received big interest from Nuno but he did't match my offer. Mike later on told me he had a recurring injury which really pÃssed me off, why couldn't he tell it to me before I signed him? I'll never sell that chap a player and if possible I'll stop him from buying any I later on snapped up Raul Tamudo on a free which now gives me the following starting line-up : GK: Sebastien Frey (Currently the best keeper in the game ) DL: Neil Clement (A solid DC/L but I'd really want a new one in this position but he'll do this season) DR: Darren Purse (A great player in this position as he has attacking abilities whcih are needed in my tactic. DC: Ifeani Udeze (A great DC, that's all I can say he has all attributes needed ) DC: Joos Valgeren (Almost a copy of Udeze, I'd say I have the best DC pair in the league now ) MC: Joe Cole (One of the best midfielders in the world...) MC: Juan Roman Riquelme (Another fantastic midfielder...) MC: Julius Aghahowa (Makes my midfield perfect...) ST: Emile Mpenza/Cadinha (Great player but currently sent for surgery damn you Mike I might play CAdinha here the whole season and let Mpenza go) ST: Mihalis Konstantinou (Solid goal-scorer, will surely be my top-scorer I reckon ) ST: Raul Tamudo (Completes my strike force, will have to fight for his place though as I have talent such as Tommy Smith, Wanchope and Sonkoya that await their chance in the first team ) With this team I'm hoping to challenge for titles, I have solid reserves too but my squad lacks debth and promising youngsters although my team has a average age of 23.66 which is too low. I can't see how it is so young though . On the bench I have stars such as Alex Pinardi, Joost Broerse and Tommy Smith so there are options. All i can say now is: GO MIDDLESBROUGH!! Guest
As i walked into the Blackburn's Chairman's office the first thing he said to me was that when i enter my office i will be greated by 3 of the best players at the team. So i cooly walked to my office thinking that i would be greated by some real quality players, instead i got the ageing Henning Berg, the un-reliable Andy Cole and a 31-year-old Peruvian called Roberto Palacios. This was the best Blackburn had to offer me was it? Nearly all of the reserves were transfer-listed, and with a bank balance reminisant of York City's, i knew from the off, i would have to work wonders to make this team anywhere near a top 10 side. The chairman kindly asked me just to "Avoid Relegation At All Costs". That seemed fair enough. 6 reserve team players felt the wrath of my need for cash, so out went: [/code] Ainsworth 1.1m Reading Lee Clark 2.3m West Ham Grabbi 1.1m Napoli Mark Williams 1.1m Crewe Kev Cooper 1.3m Livingston Lloyd Doyley 800k Watford
This gave me a bit extra cash to splash out, over the session i signed: Claudio Reyna - £3.3m - Sunderland (Claudio is a good professional and he will be good back-up for my midfielders, or he could occupy the Right sided Defensive midfield role) Erik Mykland - £1.6m - Fulham (Erik once again will only be back-up to the first-team midfield) Ruben Navarro - 2.8m - Alavés(This seemed a real bargain for a man unhappy at his club) Jamie Langfield - 5m - Charlton(One of the best 'keepers on the game potentially) Seth Johnson - 1.5m - Leeds(The boy wanted first team football, and i offered it to him) The were my main signings, others toi come in were: Magnus Pehrsson 100k Djugarden Defender Gudmunder Mete 425k Malmo FF DefenderMartin Eriksson 1.5m IFK Goteburg MidfielderTomas Rosenqvist 1m IFK Goteburg Attacking MidfielderTomasz Klos 950k Bochum Defender Andri Sigporsson 1m Molde Forward
A lot of cash was spent, so to my friendly against Nuno's Fulham. My Starting Line-up was the best i could produce except the injured Eriksson.GK: Jamie LangfieldDC: JohanssenDC: Olof MellbergDMC: Lucas Neill DMC: Jamie PanayiDMC: Claudio ReynaMC: Erik MyklandMC: Seth JohnsonAMC: Roberto PalaciosFC: Ruben NavarroFC: Matt JansenWe lost the game 1-0 to a Mendonca goal, Nuno's goalkeeper got Man of the Match, and i deserved at least a draw, my team now looks capable of a shock or two in the league, maybe even a top 8 finish, if i can sell some of the Old Fella's and buy some youth, the team will start producing the goods.CheersStewy

Guest
This season i am hoping for much of the same and a top 4 finish although i am not sure that will be avialable to me Players In

Roy Carroll - Man Utd - £4m + £2m after apps
Jermain Wright - Ipswich - Free transfer
Jason Mcateer - Frankfurt - £1.5m
Emerson Thome - Sunderland - Free
Djalminha - No Club - Free
Marcel Desailly - Chelsea - Free If am to fuffil what i said to the board which was keep improving i think i have done that already. The main target through the summer had to be a keeper Newcastle were asking to much for Breeze so i quick look through the interested keepers and i came along Roy Carroll. I am hoping with a quality keeper now in place that we will be a much better team. I have not finished my spending spree and i am not sure of my matchday team so i can put that down although it might go something like this to start with GK-Carroll (think i have told you enough about him) DC-Kamouna (scores goals and is solid at the back) DC-Desailly(no need to say anything there ) DMC-Petrov (Excellent all year round and a bargain at £3m ) DMC-McInnes(my highest average rating player last season with over 8) DMC-Prutton(Outstanding young talent will just get better and better ) MC-Della Bonna(Nice cheap player who scores goals and plays very well) MC-Williams(NWCM player of the year he is just a allround star for me MC-Djalminha(Tricky Brazilian not sure if he will play yet though) FC-Forlán (Top scorer last season looking for much more of the same) FC-Alonso (Need a new partner for Forlán but he will do for now ) The squad is much better than last year and i hope for more success Cheers Kev
HL7
Right, before I type my update I need to clear one thing up....I thought everyone knew Mpenza had this injury as I'd sent him away for surgery when I was West Ham manager Anyway, this was a tricky session for Villa as very few of the players interested in me matched my ambitions, meaning that i'd either have to sign mid-table players or not sign anyone. Of the decent players I could get, here's who I signed throughout the pre-season:
Teemu Tainio Auxerre £10m Jun-Ichi Inamoto Fulham £5m Marvin Andrews Livingston £5.75m Paul Robinson Watford £3m
My 4 signings were of the highest quality, although I missed out on Mido (Ajax), Ahn (Bordeaux), Bonaventure Kalou (Feyenoord), Cadinha (Leeds), Massimo Amborsini (Fulham), Nicolas Medina (Sunderland). If I could've got at least two of those players then I would be alittle more confident of the sides chances next season. However, after playing Man Utd in a freindly, my fears subsided a little. Here was the team we put out: GK: Eleftheropolous DL: Frampton DR: Gavillan (sp) DC: Andrews DC: Robinson DMC:Inamoto ML: Paterson MR: Rommedahl AMC:Tainio FC: Balaban FC: Parker This is my full strength side, and despite going 2-0 down inside 2 minutes to an incredible Utd side, who have players like Zidane on their bench , we fought back to make the game 2-2 with 7 minutes to go, courtesy of a Dennis Rommedahl double, but unfortunately, Ruud Van Nistelrooy managed to take it past my left winger, my left back, the goalkeeper and tap it in Full Time 3-2 to Man Utd Andrews and Inamoto both had 9's on their debut, with Inamoto getting man of the match, but Eleftheropolous got a 4, Paterosn a 5 and Frampton a 5 GO ASTON VILLA

Guest
FULHAM SUMMER UPDATE ( or read and learn how you make up a successful team ) Sounds strange to me that no one mentioned how boring this session was, actually I spent most of the time browsing the web while you guys were trying to improve your squads to take the title from me. I left earlier because I have a job and 2am was enough for me as I had to have a good night sleep since I knew that today would be a hard working day for me. Anyway, moving a month in the game after six hours of playing isn't that great, is it ? So, like I stated above I'm not too much into buying lots of players, I believe that keeping my squad narrow and stable is the best option, lots of players could damage all the good work we made last season, so this are the deals I made in this session :
Signed Hélder Postiga (S C)from Middlesbrough in a player swap deal for Billy Berntsson (D R). This young swedish dude has the future at his feet but I couldn't see him having first team football in the next few years, as long as Mike Duff is staying with us. I have also other options for his position, so seeing that Jone was interested in the dude we had a deal. Postiga will be a good back up for my striking force, hopefully.
Sold Eryk Mykland (M C) to argie's Blackburn. This Norwegian international was an important member of our team last season but not indispensable by any means. Plus he's now 32 years old so having £ 1.6 M for him is a nice deal, in my point of view. And along with Mike and Jone, argie can claim now that he has a last season's champion in his squad.
Last week's session Mike offered me a £ 5 M bid for Ambrosini and the same amount for Jun-Ichi Inamoto (DM RC). At that time I decided that this session I would sell him one of the two, firstly because I'm collecting money in order to get a substantial amount of money and move towards a very secure finantial status and secondly because it's cool for me to see his Villa squad improved because I really like that scottish geeza and I want him to finally have some success in this game, since he's one of the members who has stayed with us since the very beginning and that didn't succeed. The other one is Alex but that is a lost case.
Signed Michael Stewart (DM C) from Manchester United in exchange for Taribo West. Strangely, none of my clan fellas seem to know that young promise. He's not kicking Kaluzny or Kerr out of the team or something but I know what he's capable of and I have to add that West is no better than one of my Bosman signings (Alpay) so off he goes. Taribo is some kind of nomad, this is 4th season and he played so far for Middlesbrough, West Ham, Fulham and now Man Utd.
After selling central players like West, Inamoto and Mykland, I needed to get a versatile player so I bought Jari Illola (D/DM C) from Tirol on a £ 2.5 M deal plus the same fee after appearances. Despite his Finnish nationality he'll be an important player for the forthcoming season.
Finally, I sold Jamie Redknapp (M C) to Bolton for a fee of £ 1 M. Yet another nice deal considering his age (31) and considering that for two seasons he was never more than a good back up. Since my clan mates gave out their first elevens for the start of the season, this is how my team will look like :
Saha Mendonça Zetterberg Kaluzny Kerr Ambrosini Crainey Said Alpay Duff Chiotis
To finish my squad, I'm in talks with a star central defender. If everythink goes as I expect, this signing will make the clan lads turn green for envy. Like I posted above, shame I had to go to bed before the end of the session, I'd love to watch my boys defeat argie's bunch of no hopers in that friendly match. My board is expecting me to challenge the title, that meaning they reckon I'm doing a good job. Two years ago, Al Fayed was happy in avoiding relegation but now the man wants it all. That's it for now.

TheToffeeman
<<<<<EVERTON FC Pre-Season Report>>>>> It was the best ever pre-season for my team. I don't know what to start with. Ok, I'll try to sort it out. We moved to a new stadium (finally) - Kings Dock, Liverpool. Its capacity is 55000 with undersoil heating. A group of fans were dissapointed with the move, because the Goodison Park was a part of the Everton history. But majority of course were more than happy, because it's a new chance for Everton to become a top club once again. I must admit that Kings Dock is one of the best stadiums in the world. Several days later I learnt the news that our training facilities had been improved. Now it's a top class facilities with the youth academy. A very bright future lies ahead for Everton. Now I'm turning your attention to transfer news, there were some impressive signings. Transfers in The first player to arrive at Kings Dock was a very hot scottish prospect Craig Connoly from Livingstone for £200K plus another £300K depending on appearances. I'm very happy to secure his options because of his potential and versatility - he can play everywhere in defence I've been tracking this player for some time and I moved right away to sign him when he was released by his former club (Arsenal) - David Noble (AM C). He's young and my scouts says he would be an excellent signing. The next player to be signed by Everton was former Jone's (Middlesbrough) left-sided attacking midfielder Ray Little. I don't know when Jone exactly released him, but when I sent my scout to find some young players he was recommended as a good signing. Having looked at my attack I decided to strengthen it. I looked through the list of possible additions to our squad and finally decided to sign Fabian Caballero from Dundee on a free transfer. He'll certainly add some depth to my attck Matthew Jones (DM C) from Leicester for £750K came as a perfect cover for Tobias Linderoth. I'm verry happy with this signing considering it a bargain. Still young with a great potential to become a star at Everton This pre-season will remain in my memory as a summer of signings of hot prospects. Another one is Martin Graham (M C) from Livingstone for £250K. I'm expecting him to become a first regular in 2-3 years time. It was a long protracted talks with Steve (Mackem) to secure the options of this player. Firstly we agreed a deal with Lee Morris plus £500K going to Sunderland in a part exchange. But when the day of his signing arrived I found out that I have no cash at all, so I had to delay this deal for a week. And so several times. Finally I got some money from TV but this time I had to improve my bid, so I offered Lee Morris + Tomasz Radzinski + £1M which was thankfully accepted by Steve. This player was Paul Evans (M C). The last but not the least player to be presented to the fans was a prodigal son - Francis Jeffers - from Arsenal for £5M. Some lads from our clan expressed their doubts that I signed injury prone striker. My fingers crossed and I hope he will rarely succumb to an injury. Transfers out Ben Clark to Southend for £300K. This young central defender have no chance to become a first regular. Lee Morris and Tomasz Radzinski (both strikers) to Sunderland as a part exchange. The same reason as of Ben Clark. Neil Sullivan to Oldham for £725K. He lost the competition to wear shirt №1 to Lopez Vallejo I invited Middlesbrough for a friendly at our new stadium. Thankfully Jone was up to it. I thought it would be the best opportunity to find out what we are made of, what are our chances of winning promotion. I won't tell you in details about the match, I just mention that it was even (which was already enough for my self-affirmation), but we managed to win it. The Final Result was 2:1 to Everton which left Jone in disgrace . In conclusion these are my XI: (hope it'll work)
Josemi Jeffers | Murray | | | Linderoth Gravesen | | | Pistone Watson ---Tebily Duberry Stubbs--- That's that for today. I'm looking forward to meeting you on thursday mates!
