Are player roles different from each other?

Recommended Posts

Yes two different roles with the same instructions won’t play the same all the time. The player instructions will tell you what to expect but some will be hard coded to behave in a certain way. For example the F9 vs the DLF on support or the IWB and the WB.

Hi everyone,

are there any differences between roles with the same Instructions in terms of movements, like the example below?

Yes it is of course. But first u need to understand role conceptions, mentality.

Some role like CM(s) are called generic ( not specific, not hard coded). What does it mean ? It means that the role will evolve with the mentality. So, on cautions mentality, your cm(s) will be cautions on all his play parts ( attacking, defending). Even if u put " take more risks" or " roam" it wont affect him so much because the way the role play is directly link to the mentality.

But BBM is différent. He is coded by " roam from position initially. So, now even on low mentality he will bring a good amount of movement throug the midfield and will still finish in the box during attacking phase. A way more adventurous whatever u do.

Yes, as it also link to the mentality. On top mentality even à DLP(s) can be to high on the pitch on some phases and wont link the mdifield and attack. It relies too much and mentality to be effective that's why F9, ( coded with come deeper) is better sometimes because u may want a " midfield linker"  whatever u mentality is.

First of all you have to think that this is a game and some how they must assign specific players moves. In real life and in modern football formation is just for the placing players on the field at the start of a game.

In modern football we have lines not positions.
We have the first third which is the defense

the second third which is the middle

and the final third which is the attack area .

Let’s take a DM ,has no role as in FM mean ragista etc his main moves is at 10 meters at the most front of the CB .
But in modern football and specially in a formation of two in the middle if a DM has the natural fitness and the mentality makes many runs as CM with att role according FM rules and his pair which plays as a playmaker remains at his position to support his teammate upfront run . Can the game replicate that trick some how?

To say it simply in two pivots formation 1-4-2-3-1 the two players in the middle is the common number 6 and 8 .
The 6 main role is to defend and the 8 is to trigger the game .

What lacks the game is the mentality of the players to realize teammates moves and support them . Mainly in the second third .

Its very difficult to replicate real soccer even with VOLANTE REGISTA etc etc .
