  1. Not really. i mean, it is not as hard-coded as some role ( second striker ) for example, but he is still coded in term of width. which means that, this role will whatever using the width to a more extent than an other role in midfield no matter what mentality u use ( to some extent). To me, CM(s) even with the TI instruction to "stay wider" will tend to do use more width positionning, yes, but it wont be the same. ( for example, during defensive phases). Plus, CM will tend to use width depending on your current mentality whereas the carrilero will do that anyway. that's a big difference.
  2. Hummm i understand your dilemna and i was just like you just some weeks ago. But this game is a simulation based on numbers. As managers, in this game, you have tools to create tendency. The first question is what tendency do you want to create? A moving one ? ( i want my FB to make runs ). OK do i see him making runs ? Yes/no ? I want my team to play short and simples passes. On the screen are they doing it ? Yes/no why? Adaptation: i want my team to play short passes but opponent is pressuring often. I should probably not let my FB make too much forward runs as they will leave they position early and let me vulnerable on the brake. But maybe " passes into space"? Etc etc. You play the game like that. There isn'T a winning formula But u need to adapt on xhat is happening on the pitch. The second question is, which zone do i want to attack/défend? U cant defend well and attacking well in the same time. For example, CM (d) cover space behing the midfield where oppenent runing midfielders or drop dreeping AMC can play. It can also help in defence. But in the same time, he wont break ahead of the striker. If u had selected a CM (a) i will be able to run in just behind strikers. But in defence he wont protec the space.
  3. Yes, as it also link to the mentality. On top mentality even à DLP(s) can be to high on the pitch on some phases and wont link the mdifield and attack. It relies too much and mentality to be effective that's why F9, ( coded with come deeper) is better sometimes because u may want a " midfield linker" whatever u mentality is.
  4. Yes it is of course. But first u need to understand role conceptions, mentality. Some role like CM(s) are called generic ( not specific, not hard coded). What does it mean ? It means that the role will evolve with the mentality. So, on cautions mentality, your cm(s) will be cautions on all his play parts ( attacking, defending). Even if u put " take more risks" or " roam" it wont affect him so much because the way the role play is directly link to the mentality. But BBM is différent. He is coded by " roam from position initially. So, now even on low mentality he will bring a good amount of movement throug the midfield and will still finish in the box during attacking phase. A way more adventurous whatever u do.
  5. no he is not bro. it's a specialist role which can balance your team even with low and high mentality. despite, a CM(s) who is a generic role will be adventurous on positive mentality and more conservative on low ones. u will see a big change in the behaviour but it's not the case for the carrilero.
  6. humm in fact there is a BIG difference. and i will try to explain to you. (sorry for my english i hope u will understand). To me, it's a point that a lot of players still not have understand yet. OK You know what is the difference between generic role ? (like CM) and specialist role ( like Carrilero ) ? or like CM (s) and BWM ( s) ? or between CM(s)/ BBM ( s) ? A generic role is a role which is massivey influence by settings and especially by the mentality. for example, if u have a player CM(s) playing under cautious mentality he will behave like a cautious midfielder. protecting the space and not moving too much, not trying to many things. BUT specialist role are " HARD-coded", which means that even if u change the mentality, it wont affect the behaviour of the player that much. THAT's THE MAIN POINT. and that's great of course because even if you are cautious u would maybe still need a roaming midfielder to link the boxes ( like BBM) or aggressive-defending midfielder like BWM while the others players will be more cautious. it can balance your team and create a lot of thing. i hope this is quite clear. a CM(s) with a positive mentality can be a advance playmaker lookalike. while a CM(s) with low mentality will be more conservative. but an advance playmaker will always be a playmaker.
  7. To me, you need to understand a bit more about tactical sense of the game. As previously said, you are a top team of the league. Which means that team will try to restrain space against you. TOP heavy formation are good ones, but what if you AMR/L just make run in the congested spaces instead creating overload with their side mates ( wb ) ??×
