We choked right at the end, quite dissapointing, but having Pato come Second in Young PLayer of the Year leaves us hope. If he is as good as in FM08, he'll be tearing the league apart soon!

Did well against The Winners, which is alo pleasing and 3rd in the Presidents Cup is very good!

Hope we bring in some experience for next season and manage to get into Europe!

KUTGW spartans!

The Gorillas managed to get into Europe the same way Man City managed to get into Europe this past year. Czech Republic were granted one of the extra spots and they were highest in the Sporting Play table

Brilliant, i'll take that any day of the week. Hope the Gorillas can rattle some euro-cages next season

June/July European Update

Europa League

First Qualifying Round First Leg

The Gorillas v. Saint Julia (Andorra)

In what should be a rather easy match, The Gorillas received a visit from the Andorran team Saint Julia. The Gorillas totally dominated this match and started the scoring in the 22nd minute with a goal from Stanislav Petr. Robin Vagner added a second 3 minutes later. Pavel Vyskocil ensured a 3 goal advantage going into half-time with a goal on 36 minutes. David Adam received an injury in the 86th minute but despite this, The Gorillas scored a fourth goal in the 88th minute and will take a 4-0 lead with them to Andorra.

First Qualifying Round Second Leg

Saint Julia (Andorra) v. The Gorillas

Now for the return leg, The Gorillas traveled to Andorra in what seemed like a formality. In the fourth minute Marek Matejovsky scores a goal to make it 1-0. And he scores another in the 11th minute and its 2-0 for the men in purple. And before the 25th minute, Matejovsky has his hat trick. How many will he end up with? Tomas Blaha scores a header and its 4-0. And its 5-0 as Michal Papadopoulos puts one in. The score at half is 5-0. The second half was 45 minutes wasted as nothing happened except Josef Tobias getting injured in the 53rd and Martin Petr going down in the 81st for the Gorillas.

Second Qualifying Round First Leg

Gomel (Belarus) v. TFC

TFC travelled to Belarus to take on Gomel. A rather pedestrian first half ends with the score 0-0. Hopefully the second half will have more excitement. In the 88th minute Andrea Pirlo is taken off with an injury. A 0-0 draw in the first leg means TFC will need to win the return leg to move on.

The Gorillas v. Llanelli (Wales)

The Gorillas received a visit from Welsh team Llanelli in their Second Qualifying Round tie. The Gorillas quickly opened the scoring in the 3rd minute with a goal from Pavel Vyskocil. However that was to be the only goal of the game, and The Gorillas will head to Wales with a 1-0 lead.

Second Qualifying Round Second Leg

TFC v. Gomel (Belarus)

TFC returned to the Czech Republic after a 0-0 draw in Belarus and needing a victory or another 0-0 draw to have a hope of moving on. Pirlo lines up a 5th minute free kick and puts it in the net. Jan Blazek makes it 2-0 in the 18th minute. At the half the score is still 2-0. A bore of a half happens in the last 45 and the final score is 2-0 and TFC advance.

Llanelli (Wales) v. The Gorillas

The Gorillas ventured to Wales in hopes of finishing off Llanelli and moving on to the Third Qualifying Round. A 1-0 lead was all The Gorillas brought with them from their home first leg. The first half went by scoreless, as did most of the second half, until Marek Matejovsky, everyone's favorite Gorilla, puts one in on 89 minutes. The match ended 1-0 and The Gorillas will be continuing on.

Third Qualifying Round First Leg

Udinese (Italy) v. FC Birstall

FC Birstall traveled to the beautiful country of Italy to take on Udinese in what should be a very tough matchup. Just before the half, Fabio Quagliarella puts one in the FC Birstall net and its 1-0 Udinese at half. Fernando Tissone made it 2-0 in the 81st minute. And FC Birstall will have it all to do in the return leg as they will be down 2-0.

TFC v. AaB (Denmark)

AFK Aalborg visited the Czech Republic to take on TFC. In what was a largely boring game, there were no goals in the first half. In fact, there weren't any goals until the 84th minute, and there were no goals afterwards either. In the 84th, Ronnie Schwartz gave Aalborg a 1-0 lead, which they would hold on to and take back with them to Denmark.

Manisaspor (Turkey) v. The Gorillas

Fresh off their victory over Welsh team Llanelli, The Gorillas visited Turkey for a date with Manisaspor. The first half ended with no goals scored. The Gorillas held possession, but it was Manisaspor who broke through first with a goal by Adem Buyuk in the 53rd minute. Shortly after the goal, Josef Tobias went off with an injury for the Gorillas. When it came time for an equaliser, everyone turned to Marek Matejovsky, and he duly delivered in the 80th minute. The match ended 1-1.

UEFA Champions League

Champions Second Qualifying Phase First Leg

Barca v. Domzale (Slovenia)

Thanks to winning the Czech League, Barca got to play Slovenian Champions Domzale in the UEFA Champions League, with the first match being at home. After many attempts, Marek Strestik finally puts one past the Domzale keeper, and its 1-0. Strestik adds a second just before halftime to make it 2-0. Five minutes after the break, new signing Andrea Barzagli puts one in for Barca. Emmanuel Adebayor puts one in off a corner and its 4-0. The guy with two first names, Josef Petr, puts in a 5th for Barca and this looks beyond doubt.

Best Second Place Second Qualifying Phase First Leg

SL Bohemians v. Olympiakos (Greece)

Greek squad Olympiakos traveled to the Czech Republic to take on SL Bohemians for the right to move on in the competition. The match truly got started when Fernando Belluschi went off in the 34th minute. This was followed quickly by a Frank Lampard goal in the 39th. The half ended with Bohemians up 1-0. Throughout the second half, SL tried to hold onto their lead and they were successful even to the point of adding a second in the 85th with a goal from Miroslav Slepicka. The match ended 2-0 and that’s what Bohemians will take with them to Greece.

Europa League

The Gorillas v. Manisaspor (Turkey)

The Gorillas came back home in a 1-1 draw. The first half nearly had a goal in the second minute. The first breakthrough came in the 32nd in the form of a Manisaspor own goal by Mustafa Ersoy. And the golden boy strikes again, Marek Matejovsky scores in the 44th. The Gorillas owned the ball in the second half but the Manisaspor keeper played brilliantly. However, Manisaspor couldn't muster any offense and the match ended 2-0, and The Gorillas keep marching on.

AaB (Denmark) v. TFC

With the deficit standing at 1-0, TFC traveled to Denmark to make a comeback. And comeback they did. Jan Blazek decided he didn't want to stop playing in Europe and put two in one right after the other, first in the 15th minute and again a minute later. Robinho also scored 2 in the first half, the first in the 22nd and the third in the 31st. The first half ended 4-0 and the game ended by the same score. TFC were totally dominant and fully deserved their win.

FC Birstall v. Udinese (Italy)

FC Birstall came back home facing a 2-0 deficit and having it all to do. Fabio Quagliarella decided he wanted to take this game over, and scored a goal in the 7th minute to make it 1-0 Udinese. Radek Maly went off with an injury in the 25th minute, which was followed by another goal by Fabio Quagliarella in the 29th. The half ended 2-0 and it looked like FC Birstall would be going home early. For good measure, Quagliarella got his hat-trick in the 57th minute and the match ended 3-0.

The next update will see the first month and the return of some screenshots.

August Update

UEFA Champions League

Champions Second Qualifying Phase Second Leg

Domzale (Slovenia) v. Barca

Barca traveled to Slovenia with advancement all but assured, basically they just needed to show up and not completely tank and they would move to the next round. Marek Strestik wanted to get this formality over with and he put one in on 7 minutes just to be sure. Nothing else of note happened until Mitja Sever was sent off in the 67th minute for Domzale. The match ended 1-0 and Barca continued on.

Best Placed Second Qualifying Phase Second Leg

Olympiakos (Greece) v. SL Bohemians

SL Bohemians went to Greece needing to not lose by more than 2 goals to advance. At the end of the first half, in which SL Bohemians looked more likely to score, there were no goals at all. It looked very much like SL Bohemians would be moving on. A breakthrough is finally made in the73rd when Dimitar Berbatov slotted one past the Olympiakos keeper. Now Olympiakos needed four goals in less than 20 minutes, it looks over. Olympiakos attempt their comeback as Diogo beats Buffon in the 79th. Miroslav Slepicka restores the SL Bohemians lead in the 82nd, and the fans are headed for the exits. And the match ends 2-1 giving Bohemians a 4-1 aggregate victory.

Champions Third Qualifying Phase First Leg

Aris (Greece) v. Barca

Barca traveled to Greece in an attempt to qualify for the Group Stages. Barca had much of the possession in the first half but there were no breakthroughs. After the half, Barca got an away goal from new signing, Danny in the 50th minute. Aris were determined not to go to the Czech Republic down on anything aside from away goals, and they were rewarded with a goal from Ilias Efthymiou in the 70th minute. The second half ended with the score 1-1, and the tie would be decided in a couple weeks.

Best Placed Third Qualifying Phase First Leg

SL Bohemians v. Feyenoord (Netherlands)

SL Bohemians welcomed Dutch outfit Feyenoord to the Czech Republic in the First Leg of the Third Qualifying Phase, with a place in the Group Stages on the line. In the first half, each team had its own set of chances but neither were able to put one in. Feyenoord get the all-important…wait what, is that the assistant's flag, yes, the goal has been called back for offside, the Feyenoord players are furious. Berbatov puts on in on 64 minutes and its 1-0 Bohemians. The match ends 1-0, Feyenoord will be looking for revenge in the return leg as they are aggrieved at the disallowed goal.

Europa League

Fourth Qualifying Round First Leg

Everton (England) v. The Gorillas

Last year, a squad from the Czech Republic was knocked out of the competition by Everton, will it be the same this year. The Gorillas travel to England to face the Merseysiders in an effort to qualify for the group stages. Mikel Arteta gives Everton a lead in the 39th minute. At the half, it is 1-0. The Gorillas are able to draw level with a goal in the 84th minute, however it was not Marek Matejovsky who put it in, in fact it was Stanislav Petr. Despite Everton's best efforts the match ends 1-1, and Vincent Enyeama played a gem of a game to earn the Man of the Match award and maybe the season saver for The Gorillas as far as Europe is concerned.

Winners FC v. Ajax (Netherlands)

The FA Cup winners play Ajax for a spot in the Group Stages, with the first leg being in Prague. Winners were able to go ahead in the 11th minute when Cristiano Ronaldo put one in the ole onion bag. This was four minutes after Tomas Rada went off with an injury for Winners FC. Jiri Strnad put Winners up 2-0 22 minutes after the break. Following the goal, Ajax got into some real trouble. Mamadou Sakho was sent off in the 68th minute, and in the same minute Miralem Sulejmani was taken off with an injury. Thomas Vermaelen was then sent off for Ajax in the 84th minute. However, despite being short two men, Evander Sno scored for Ajax in the 87th minute and the match ended 2-1.

Rosenborg (Norway) v. TFC

TFC got to travel to Norway to take on Norwegian side, Rosenborg. The match really got underway in the 9th minute when Tomas Rosicky was sent off. The scoring was started in the 20th minute with a goal by Steffen Iversen. The score at half was still 1-0. 5 minutes after the interval, Robinho scored an equaliser and the match would end with a scoreline of 1-1.

UEFA Champions League

Champions Third Qualifying Phase Second Leg

Barca v. Aris (Greece)

Barca returned home after a 1-1 draw in Greece. Aris get out to a nightmarish start, when Alejandro Lembo puts one in his own net in the 1st minute. At the half it is still 1-0, but Barca seem more likely to score. Just after the break, Radek Sirl makes the score 2-0. Adebayor puts the result beyond doubt in the 90th minute. At the final whistle the score is 3-0 and the aggregate is 4-1 and Barca are in the Group Stages.

Best Placed Third Qualifying Phase Second Leg

Feyenoord (Netherlands) v. SL Bohemians

Bohemians went to the Netherlands up 1-0 and hoping to keep that lead after the match is done. Andewele Slory scored in the third minute and the aggregate score was tied. That was the only goal scored during the first 90 minutes which meant the match was going to extra time. Roy Makaay put Feyenoord up a goal in the 100th minute. However, Martin Filio scored in the 102nd to tie the score on aggregate. Joris Mathijsen had been sent off in the 101st and Bohemians needed to hold on after getting their goal. The final whistle blew, and SL Bohemians win the tie on away goals.

Europa League

Fourth Qualifying Round Second Leg

Ajax (Netherlands) v. Winners FC

Winners traveled to the Netherlands with a 2-1 lead hoping to advance. The first half ended 0-0 and it appeared that they would be moving on, however, there were other plans. The problems started when Eyong Enoh put a penalty in the back of the net in the 56th minute. Luis Suarez then put two goals in in the 74th and 80th minutes and that pretty much just sealed the deal. Winners were unable to get a goal in and the match was always in doubt.

TFC v. Rosenborg (Norway)

TFC came home after a draw looking to advance to the Group Stages for the first time in their brief history. Jan Blazek looked like he wanted that to happen as he scored goals in the 28th and 45th minutes meaning TFC would go into the break with a 2-0 lead. Rune Nilssen attempted to get Rosenborg back in it with a goal in the 84th minute, but it was too little to late, as the final whistle blew and TFC had won the tie.

The Gorillas v. Everton (England)

Everton came to the Czech Republic looking to do what they did last year in knocking a Czech squad out of the UEFA Cup, however, this year it would be harder as it was tied. The magic man, Marek Matejovsky scores to put the Gorillas up 1-0 in the 13th minute. Yakubu ties it 4 minutes later and if it stays this way there will be extra time. A minute later and Everton take the lead as Yakubu scores again. The Gorillas now need two to advance. And there's the hat trick in the 29th minute. It's 3-1 at half, and The Gorillas have it all to do. Martin Petrov makes it 4-1 in the 49th. Well Everton strikes again as the match ends 4-1 and The Gorillas are sent packing.

September Update

Czech National Team

UEFA World Cup Qualifying

Slovakia v. Czech Republic

The Czech Republic ventures to neighbors (and former compatriots) Slovakia to continue their march towards the World Cup. Slovakia open the scoring in the 19th minute with a superb goal from Filip Holosko. At the half it is 1-0 still to Slovakia and with Northern Ireland currently locked in a draw, the Czechs need a goal to keep pace atop Group 3. In the 58th minute, the Czechs get a much needed goal from David Rozehnal, it is now 1-1. The second half continued and the final whistle blew on a 1-1 draw and the Czech Republic is still top thanks to Poland defeating Northern Ireland, 2-0.

Czech Republic v. San Marino

Group 3 minnows, San Marino, travel to Prague, as the Czech Republic look to take a healthy lead going into the final two games of group play qualifying. Jan Polak puts one in from 25 yards to give the Czechs a 1-0 lead. Lubos Kalouda misses a penalty in the 6th minute, hopefully it doesn't come back to haunt them. Tomas Sivok heads in a Tomas Rosicky corner in the 23rd minute. Jan Blazek makes it 3-0 three minutes later. It's 3-0 at half and this result doesn't look in doubt at all. Martin Fenin is just adding to the onslaught, as he scores in the 57th. The match ends 4-0 to the Czech Republic and they are almost certainly in the World Cup.

UEFA Champions League

Group B

Barca v. Olympique Lyonnais (France)

French champions Lyon travel to the Czech Republic in what could be called the "Group of Death" for Barca. Ederson puts Lyon up a goal in the 10th minute. Barca are awarded a penalty in the 33rd minute, which Emmanuel Adebayor duly converted. At the half the score remains 1-1. Fred puts Lyon in the lead once again with a goal on 52 minutes. Fred's goal turns out to be the difference as the match ends with a 2-1 scoreline, a disappointing first match in Europe for Barca.

Group G

Paris Saint Germain (France) v. SL Bohemians

SL Bohemians travel to Paris in an effort to get a good start in the Group Stage. Mirel Radoi was taken off with an injury in the 18th minute for Bohemians. Dimitar Berbatov breaks the ice for Bohemians and it is 1-0 after 30 minutes. At half, Berbatov's goal is the difference. SL Bohemians will have to play the last 20 minutes with 10 men as Steven Taylor was sent off. Bohemians were able to hold off an onslaught and keep their 1-0 lead intact until the final whistle.

Europa League

Group C

Tottenham (England) v. TFC

TFC travel to White Hart Lane to get a result that will help them advance to the next round of the Europa League. Jermain Defoe opens the scoring in the 16th minute, and 1 minute later he puts another in so 2-0 Tottenham after 17 minutes. Defoe's goals held up until halftime. David Bentley makes it 3-0 in the 64th. Darren Bent adds a fourth goal for Tottenham in the 86th minute. And at the final whistle, TFC will be heading home having lost by 4 goals.

UEFA Champions League

Group G

SL Bohemians v. A. C. Milan

Italian giants A.C. Milan travel to to play Czech champs SL Bohemians here on Matchday 2. Loic Perrin puts Bohemians ahead in the 19th minute. Perrin's goal is the difference at the half. The second half was boring with not much going on, and the match ends 1-0.

Group B

Juventus v. Barca

In what seems to be a pattern, a Czech team in the Champions League is playing a team from Italy, this time Barca travels to Juventus. An interesting first half ends 0-0. Claudio Marchisio breaks the deadlock in the 71st minute for Juventus. That one goal is all that is scored in this match and Barca start out with two losses.

Wow, the league is very tight again! We are in mid-table but only 3 points off top spot! Dissappointed we only signed two players, but it is nice to see Pato starting to perform well, he really will make a dfference in a couple yeas time.

Nice to see an update for this, keep it up!
