How to Avoid Being FM'ed

Recommended Posts

Yes, football is wonderful, it's unpredictable, and it is revengeful, but I see more than a handful of results that are entirely random or anomalous (besides streaks of excellent or terrible performance). Are there any tips to avoid being FM'ed?...

Every week in real life football there are strange results - if there weren't we'd all make a fortune out of the bookies!  So, just accept it mirrors real life and move on to the next game.

Yes I agree, and it also happen that we the players are lucky against a difficult opponent. We just dont remember those times as long =P

Henrique Araújo earns 115.000 per month vs Jack Jacques who earns 10.750 p/m.. (euro cup 2 knockout stages)

He scored 2 headers with a heading of 7 and jumping reach of 10 (180cm). Its rare that he scores headers-

One of the things I feel like gets consistently overlooked in these convos around "getting FM'd" is how much our perception of relative frequency of outlier events is skewed by the far higher sample set we generate from playing than exists in real life. Crazy things happen in real life footie, as in the game, the difference is that we can experience 100s of matches worth of events in FM over the course of a real world month, whereas IRL over a similar period of time we only realistically see a dozen or so matches worth of events. This amplifies our sense that unrealistic stuff happens far too often in FM, but imagine squeezing all of the future real world matches and events out through 2025 into just the next month and how that would feel.

Acceptance is a stoic stance? That's an insult to everyone who doesn't process results like you do. Maybe you can provide examples of "strange" results that would never happen in real life, instead of expecting people who have their own experiences with the game to figure out what "being FM'ed" means.
