So the first save on this forums and first after, iirc, 2013 on any forum so gonna be a bit rusty and not regular with the content posted here but oh well. Am making a thread so that I can share it with you lot and cos the amazing career threads by @Jimbokav1971 and @_Ben_ inspired me to make this save. Am gonna try and post monthly updates. Also title is from google translate so apologies to anyone that speaks Portuguese. Also, I have gone a bit into the preseason so you'll be updated almost live as I go. Also quick note that this is timo's database edited to get second tier properly working and get B team in 4th tier. Without further ado I present to you...

EXRuSsCXQAIafgk.png

F.C. Famalicão is a relatively unknown town in northern region of Portugal in a small town of Vila Nova de Famalicão with a population of only 130 000 people. Closest big teams are Braga and Porto.

T4wZ5gD.png

Highest honors are that they won 2nd tier two times before the fall of Berlin wall. They were runner ups last year.

 dy0ZVte.png

Facilities

j6Tmsm6.png

Facilities are decent but nothing spectacular. Stadium is way too small. Will need a new one soon, especially if we get into the European competitions.

PwwdyvD.png

Finances

d4SVzrM.png

Are fine at the moment. But the main thing about this save is that I have an owner that is...

596zOv8.png

Club vision

00jCGrR.png

I have to sign Israeli players which is because of the owner and use youth system. Both are fine for me and I planned to use youth system.

Tracker

unknown.png

Gonna track all these things. All time apps different on wiki and FM, decided to go with higher number. All time goals no info in FM, wiki has these numbers.

This is a really interesting idea. Portugal has been on my list of Nations to do for a while now.

What's this all about though? I get the basis of a Sugar Daddy but what's the "Front End" all about? I take it there are different types of Sugar Daddy?

  • Sign Israeli players is only 1 bar. (You should be able to ignore this, but at the same time if there is someone available I think that actually adds quite a cool aspect to the save).
  • Play attacking football is 2 bars. (Does this fit with your plans?)
  • Develop Youth Players is 2 bars. (This should suit you nicely).

I've just realise while writing this post, that not only do I not have any club culture in my save currently, but I haven't had for ages and also there is no ability to add any......

@Jimbokav1971 there are different types of Sugar Daddies. Front end is what PSG, Man City have. Active investments and wanna be the best ever and are willing to pump money in the club to ensure they do become best in nation and in the world. There is also background sugar daddy who invests occasionally but generally just helps run the club. There's also underwriter which is like a normal chairman that always wipes out debt/loans.

I know Israeli is only one bar but adds a little flavor to the save and gonna pretend it's on par with youth system. Have set up a scout specifically for Israeli leagues. Attacking football does fit my plans, there's a tactic in few first posts.

Maybe you don't have club vision cos you do youth intake. Tho would imagine youth system one would appear under it. You can add it with next contract negotiations.

July 2019 Update

image.thumb.png.a7cc09d63502bdf8b4043383de03d99e.png

Impressive pre-season for my team with wins over Dijon, Port and Betis. Hopefully this translates into Liga NOS as well.

image.thumb.png.12840f9f3cab647052f6cdaf5ebb56c2.png

Huge sponsorship for the team! 27m is a lot of money. Projection for balance was in red in 2 years. This puts the projection for balance up to 100m in three years.

First and only signing. Unfortunately a bit too late for registration window and will have to wait until January for him to play. But hopefully I can get some of the attributes up. As you can see from the comparison he is miles better than anyone we have at the attacking mid.

September 2019 Update

League

image.thumb.png.26f8c6de58350b2d23ef7d632fa74693.png

2 wins and a draw is a great turn around from the previous month which puts us out of relegation zone and into middle of the pack at 11th place.

Taca de Portugal | Cup

image.thumb.png.2e4c1123c4da5560278e8efefc68582f.png

A comfortable win over 3rd tier team with a heavily rotated team is a success in my book.

Also realised there are two cups just like in England. FA Cup equivalent is the Taca de Portugal which leads to Europa League place and the other one is the unimportant one is the Allianz Cup.

We have completed our first Israeli signing. Adika will join the team in a year and will spend his forming years in B team with occasional Allianz Cup games sprinkled in. Scout reckons he has a lot of potential so hopefully develops into at least a viable rotation playmaker. Has good determination and ambition whilst his professionalism is not available through personality or media handling styles but it is also not noted as a con by our designated Israeli scout.

October 2019 Update

This month saw us take 4 points from 3 games but two of them were not against easy opponents in Guimaraes and Rio Ave. This month saw us settle in 11th place for few rounds but hopefully with the registration of Ruiz and one other signing I have cooking we can jump to at least 9th place. In Taco de Portugal we beat Noguirense easily with second team and we saw Alan Ruiz exhibit his full potential with a goal. He played since the cup doesn't require any registration.

image.thumb.png.3e07f16bf63ee3371bb116a2055650fb.png

Finances are down by half a mil but with so much money in the balance I am not afraid of going black.

image.thumb.png.eb28ec347d41f14fb5bde08a6a9fc5f2.png

One slight worry is that we have lots of influential players but no true leaders in our team and Defendi is a backup goalkeeper. This basically means I have to pander to every need my players have and cannot have my team leader shush them into silence.

Signing For the Future | November 2019

We have managed to grab Erkan, the 18yr old wizard from Mainz, for 1.1 million after he was transfer listed by request at Mainz. We have agreed to terms with him to be a Squad Player for 2.5 years and then a Regular Starter. We were also forced into 11.25m Release Clause that expires at the end of 2022/23 season but I expect him to sign a new contract that erases that clause. He is to learn from Ruiz for couple of years and then, hopefully, improves to the point where he has the reigns of the team.

Got two good wins vs Setubal and Gil Vicente in the league but dropped important points vs Aves who are 16th from a free kick. We have dominated the game but couldn't see out the game with 3 points in hand. Also, playing 2nd team in the Cup bit me in the bum and we have been out of the main Cup 2 rounds sooner than our board would have liked. 9th position is not bad but it's hard to say where we will be once everyone plays the same number of matches.

image.thumb.png.9fd2cb81e999b94d7302475a6d1d9c56.png

Finances going down once again but again - not a concern in the slightest. Board even let us have more money for transfers without me prompting it. And I have a player in mind which should help us in second half of the season.

Another Signing | December 2019

21 years old Peruvian international player looks like a perfect Segundo Volante next to our gem Assuncao. 875k is not much for a player of his qualities. Tall, athletic and with technique that other tall players are envious of. As seen from comparison screen he is by far the best defensive mid to play alongside Assuncao. Bargain signing.

Note for everyone - all out of transfer window signings will be showed like this because I am signing them as I go and not all at once like in transfer windows and this shows the thought process better. Will show the team and make a spreadsheet for my 4 teams with only the players that I plan to keep for 2+ years. Transfer windows signings and sold players will be showed in one lengthy post.

Youth Intake Preview | December 2019

image.thumb.png.df208aaf8a6c5aed4da2c8bf88924609.png

The most exciting time of the year for someone like me and especially in a save like this where I plan to make full use of 3 teams I have for developing players. So let us analyze this a bit so we can go back to it in few months when intake does come in.

Positives:

  • a good keeper
  • one good fullback
  • one good defensive mid
  • one good central midfielder
  • one good (left) winger from Guimaraes
  • golden generation

Negatives

  • scattered players among positions (this is a positive in my book)
  • no wing backs (don't play them)
  • poor center backs
  • poor attacking midfielders
  • poor strikers

Considering I need all the positions in green and positions in yellow are covered or being covered via new signings I think that this is fine. Also gives me a green light to go hunting during January for u18 players in attacking positions and for central defenders as I will re-evalue all 3 of my developmental teams.

All in all this looks like a cracking intake and I am excited for it. Also, looks like we stole that left Winger from neighboring Guimaraes. No Israeli players this time as it seems. Need to get an affiliate there.

He arrives in a few days when transfer window opens up. Will train as attacking central mid. Reckon could become a good backup to Erkan if Adika doesn't pan out. Also signed cos got no youth intake players in central attacking mid position.

Yep, @Fudal, hopefully he has enough potential in him to challenge Eyibil or at least be his backup in 3 years when I expect Erkan to become a star of this team. As I've said, I will do a long term spreadsheet that will act as a guide for my player development and will try to focus on signing 16 yr old for youngsters so they can go into U19 and those that are worthy in U19 when they become 18 yr old go to U23, 20 yr olds into B team. I really wanna streamline the whole ordeal of developing players and especially with 3 developmental teams that should be fun to do.

December saw us win 5 points out of 4 games which, taking opponents into account, is not all that bad. Martins saved me versus Boavista with a beautiful goal in 93rd minute and I barely scrapped a draw versus Benfica. Belenenses game featured no highlights. I kid you not, 90 minutes and no one had a chance that warranted a highlight. Preposterous. But at least we are in top half just like my Israeli board wants me to be.

First Team Two Year Projection | January 2020

https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/713108351265013920/744535082303488060/unknown.png

I will be posting spreadsheets of 2 years projections and come back to this in two years to see how much has changed and to see if players I projected to become backups have developed as much as I have hoped. I have not included any loan deals I cannot extend. One loan deal included is Ivo Pinto who has agreed to extend his loan until end of next season. And even tho he is 30 he still has enough physical capabilities in him to be a strong option on the right. Blanks are positions that are either not good enough at the moment or they are on loan with no extension in place. Screenshots of players included are below.

image.thumb.png.4fbe47080ee65493220ad94be3546bd4.pngimage.thumb.png.933a6f4458984547e6018ce6eb03bb8f.pngimage.thumb.png.ffef3395ffdc0d4136a477c1937cdb88.pngimage.thumb.png.123d25bd488d55f04ad9f9c449d31603.pngimage.thumb.png.060302248adc9a4be2f6978c91a5ab2e.pngimage.thumb.png.05b00ff2909caed2a78358804c548cbc.pngimage.thumb.png.26183be2750201b25173e0356c63ec8c.pngimage.thumb.png.3ac7a29c3a8a2c4d822a00274ffec8eb.pngimage.thumb.png.b824a8cee90756b2f91a599a78f52f7c.pngimage.thumb.png.5d49983fddd69d123e80a117b3e25521.png

It is also clear that I will have to change lots of player statuses and get a lot of players in place of those who are currently playing in first team.

Not sure if he has invested in the club @karanhsingh but lots of players in the club are 'his', or at least seems like they are. Thanks for the heads up on Manor! Our scouts didn't scout him yet but looks like a class player for my right hand side which is missing a long term solution.

Long Term Left Back Signed! | Jan 2020

image.thumb.png.15522003fd0d50a109fdccef62fdfb70.png

We got ourselves a long term left back even though Luiz played almost exclusively as attacking midfielder. Pulling a reverse Gareth Bale here. He has solid positioning, work rate, technique and crossing for this to make sense. He also has lots of potential to adapt to the new position. First option immediately even though his agreed playing time states Squad Player. Added to 2yr projection. Retraining a player is something I took from @_Ben_'s career thread Voltaco and from Guadalajara.

Another Big Sponsor | February 2020

image.thumb.png.9ca83b70f7cb211dfb9a6ac80fef80b6.png

I guess this is the 'sponsorship' that Idan Ofer has brought in because he is a tycoon. Never seen two big sponsorships in a short span for a mid tier team like Famalicao. This puts us way ahead of everyone in Liga NOS.

Two tough opponents saw us drew versus Sporting and lose versus Braga. 10th position means the board is unhappy but it's only 6 points difference between us and Vitoria Guimaraes and we play against them in first game of February.

Winter Transfer Window

image.thumb.png.c62a6fa53fe88f49e5b6d53c9257a7d2.png

All the players were shown in here previously and we just lack the clinical striker Toni Martinez has 6 goals and hopefully he can kick off in the second half now that we have rounded our team a bit more.

High scoring game versus Guimaraes was a big blow to our campaign. But a stern team meeting has brought the morale high and on upward trend with just a goal difference separating us and Rio Ave which is where our board wants us to finish. I did not enter Allianz Cup and the Cup is finished. Maybe next year.

Srećko Bogdan was so excited about youth intake that he sent me a message at midnight. Talk about being a professional.

So, let's see what we've got!

Looks not half bad but the personalities are atrocious! Will re-do staff with personalities in the summer.

Let's see the players Srećko touted as the highlights few months back.

Keeper is tall, good reflexes. Shame will not develop properly cos of unambitious personality.

image.thumb.png.ae400c6cf6bce1ebf2d843fe38a420eb.png

Fullback actually looks really good! Physically good, two footed but once again - personality is lacking. Two of his favorite staff members are both Resolute which is good personality to have with at least Good determination.

image.thumb.png.0615968a2d7d577eadf99afb9bb0b86d.png

Defensive mid has a proper personality, good determination and is someone I will be converting to a center back.

image.thumb.png.fd1e66d521da0d9c4d01dd03b725e0f6.png

As for the central mid I am unable to identify who that may be.

Left winger from Guimaraes is actually a decent one. Probably looks like someone who will be fastest in contention for main team with his combination of dribbling, pace and player traits.

image.thumb.png.d6e1a5ccad6b7572bb4c61a21998617c.png

One interesting player is someone who is not that good, but rather has interesting nationality - Luxembourg. Hopefully I can collect them as many as @Jimbokav1971 did in his save!

image.thumb.png.76e0589fc94313e46ce4178bd1a54b2d.png

image.thumb.png.ad7810045a998d220ae28e3d97ee2612.png

Am pretty happy with the intake despite poor personalities. There do seem to be few players I could envision having on the fringes of first team. As always - signing them all.

I don't think you can say something like "will not develop because of unambitious personality". While of course it's true that he will develop slower than someone with a great personality, you shouldn't bin a player off just because of a personality if he is otherwise good.

If I look at my game and search all players and filter by CA, (it doesn't matter because I don't sign anyone), then what you would expect to see is lots of Perfectionists, M.Pro's, Resolute's and the like at the top, and that's exactly what I see.

But #7 is Realist.
#8 is Balanced.

In the top 50 we have personalities such as Resilient, Mercenary, Light-Hearted.

#60 is Spirited.
#64 #68 & #72 are Balanced.
#76 is Unambitious, (however what he's not is Unambitious with Low Det because that's a whole different ball-game).

So the 76th best player in the World is Unambitious. I've just checked and his CA is 163 and his PA is 166. He's 31 so it's possibly/likely that he managed to achieve his PA and is now dropping away.

It's FAR too simple to just say that a player with a poor personality can't reach his potential. It should be said that this player came through the intake at Boca Juniors in Argentina and was playing league games at 16, so that will have certainly helped his development.

Personality is just 1 of many things that influences a players development. Don't get too bogged down in it.

Guess I have to actively search for Israeli players that are not good enough. Okay..

Edit- this has happened for every player in this intake. Thankfully have managed to convince board to let me sign all of them so far.

I am not binning a player because of his personality. I will try and put him into mentoring groups with other players that have better personalities and hopefully becomes slightly more ambitious.  I know there's other factors in play here like facitilities, coaching, playing time etc. It's just a bit of a downer to have best players have poor personalities. I do agree with everything you say. Remember - I DO have 3 developmental teams exactly for these types of players where more playing time and longer developmental time is crucial. It might take him 6-7 years going through the ranks until he becomes a fringe player for my main squad.

Our best player was a loaned in player from AC Milan (Mendes influence) who was not good enough for First Team. Here are top 5 by av.rating.

Another For The Future | April 2020

I manually searched for youngsters after the intake and found this gem in third tier of Portuguese Football League and was stunned when I found out that for measly 1000 euros I could have him. Did not even scout him but rather jumped the gun on him. Weird that Ofer didn't block this one cos of lack of Israeli signings but blocks my own youth intake players.

We had to please our chairman Ofer with Israeli players and bar the Shakhtar lad these are the most sensible players I could find in the player search. I know it seems much but a Tycoon gotta take care of his own, right? Not too stoked about these signings but have to make these signings so I don't have to deal with the board cancelling any deals.

Such an interesting save. I am tempted to have a go with this team after I get bored of my Reading save.

Isn't there any decent Israli players in the National team you could sign or are they all rubbish ?

This is the best one and would cost around 15m in the summer. Might go ahead and pull the trigger if Ofer gives me enough money.

The ones better than him are either old (32+) or just not good enough to be starters for the price they would command.

Oh that is good then.

Have you thought about getting an Israli affiliate so you can get some Israli players come through your youth intake?

Yes I have. I check every month to see if I can get a youth recruitment from Israel. I do have their leagues loaded! But unfortunately two times already have been given the Portuguese link. Hopefully can get an Israeli link soon. Think signing Israeli youth coaches also helps with the chances of getting one Israeli lad through the intake. So will look into that as well. Will be hard to balance good personality + good attributes + different nationalities (Israeli being one of them).

Yeah try get a Israli Head Of Youth Recruitment as that will help. Also some scouts with scouting knowledge of Israel would help.
