Revolution in the land of the Llamas - There is always a positive side to being under a dictatorship!!

Champions of South America!! Well what a run, kept thinking 'we'll go out to this lot' but the key players pulled us through icon_biggrin.gif When did the new manager take over?

The BHG looks fb as well for Lima - things looking to be on the up! Now we can try and close the gap on the impressive Los Incas next season.

Another season in the wrong half of the table for Mayobamba. It was interesting to see how the two bottom clubs affected the whole league though with teams on 50+ points just a couple of places above the relgation zone!

Good to see a fruitful strike partnership at the club too as goals seemed to be a problem last season. Aguirre has turned out to be one of my better picks from the start of the game (I had no idea who he was - just thought I should pick a striker icon_razz.gif) and Rengifo looks to be of great benefit to the club.

Oh, and great to get one over the reigning champs in the mountain rivals clash - fantastic way to end the season! icon_biggrin.gif

Cuca took over at the start of Ocotber, just before the Quarter Finals clashes with Gremio, you could say he got Lima through the "proper" ties!

All-Time South American Placar Ranking

Placar dont actually do such a point system for South American competitions, but I thought it would be an idea to expand it, the point system is as follows:

Libertadores

Champion = 15pts.

Runner-Up = 13pts.

Semi-Final = 11pts.

Quarter-Final = 9pts.

Last 16 = 7pts.

Third in Group Stage = 5pts.

Last in Group Stage = 3pts.

Preliminary Round = 2pts.

Sudamericana

Champion = 11pts.

Runner-Up = 9pts.

Semi-Final = 7pts.

Quarter-Final = 5pts.

First Round = 3pts.

Second Preliminary Round = 2pts.

FirstPreliminary Round = 1pt

This years points:

World Starz = 13pts.

Lima = 11pts.

Los Incas = 11pts.

CDT = 9pts.

Puno = 2pts.

World Starz still top all rankings, highlighting their domestic consistency and continental experience. Los Incas have been the big movers this year due to their second title and first South American journey.

The Pre-Season Update will come either tomorrow or Wednesday.

Congratulations to Los Incas for securing their second consecutive league title. They'll take some beating next season on that form. Well done to Lima too for being the first Superliga team to win a continental competition. Good to see the Peruvian national team start to improve too. Just wondering, have any regens broken into the national squad yet?

Great updates as usual Corinithiano. icon_smile.gif

I'm away this week by the way so won't be able to post until next weekend.

A couple of regens have broken into the national squad, but none have made an appearance so far, the best regen so far is Sanz who plays for CDT, I have posted his screenie und CDT's BHG if you want to have a look.

Thanks for letting us know you re off next week icon14.gif

Oh yeah and regarding good old Timote, I think he is a bit unpatient, his sackings per season rating beats everyones by miles icon_wink.gif

I see we are losing him to Mayobamba though. Fingers crossed as usual we will find a replacement!!! Don Escobar doesn't seem to like opening the chequebook!

Second in the league too, so another foray onto the continent. Hopefully the new manager will pick up where Cuca left off!

The Placar rankings and overall points tables look strange too. I haven't been able to work out how two sides who have never won the championship can outrank a side that's won it twice!!!

Good updates again Corinthiano!

The difference is that Los Incas had two awful seasons before winning this two titles while World Starz and CDT to a lesser extent have been performing consistantly well in the league. World Starz are the biggest example as they havent finished outside a South maerican qualification spot yet.

2012 Pre-Season Update

Dissappointment for two Escobar sides again, as Cusco Athletico and Westfields FC failed to get out of the Second Division. Instead it was Cesar Vallejo and Sporting Cristal who went up. Sporting Cristal used to be one of the dominant powers in Peruvian football before the Superliga, it will be interesting to see whether they can perform better than the promoted sides from last season. One side who got a positive surprise is Ciudad. As Lima won the Copa Sudamericana, it opened another place for Peruvians in the competition and 6th place guaranteed that for the Huanuco side.

Transfers

Atletico Arequipa

The side need some signings to get back to the form of earlier years, however there wasnt a massive investment made and only two players brought in.

Matias Diaz - The defensive midfielder was brought in from the Argentinian powerhouse River Plate. A very good player and it is definately remarkable that he was lured away from River to come and play for a mid-table side.

Miguel Curiel - A decent striker brought in from Sporting Cristal, however not good enough to be able to take Los Blacnos back to the top.

The biggest loss was the sale of Jose Pedro Aller to CDT, the striker had great potential and is better than Miguel Curiel any day.

Transfer History

CDT

After a couple of good season, especially last seasons strong 2nd finish, CDT have made a lo fo signings in order to make a bigger challenge for the title.

Alberto Rodriguez - The Peruvian international is a very good acquisition and will add strength at the back.

Jefferson Farfan - One of the biggest names in Peruvian football and a massive signing.

Juan Quinonez - Snapped up on a free from Sport Boys, the winger/striker is a very decent signing and adds depth to the squad.

Pedro Jose Aller - Considered one of the biggest promises in Peruvian football, the U21 star demanded a relatively large fee for a 19-year old.

Victor Zapata - Another very good signing, he can play offensive and defensive football down the left.

There were two big transfers out, the very promising Sanz leaving to Mayobamba and Alexander Sanchez to Lima. Jefferson farfan is surely a much better option down the right, although there is no real replacement for Sanz.

Transfer History

Ciudad

The surprising prospect of South American football motivated Ciudad to make a couple of heavier signings during the summer.

Alemao - The Brazilian is supposed to be the new playmaker in the Ciudad sign and could be a decent swoop that only cost the club £1.7 Million.

Junior Ross - The nomadic striker was given a way back in the Superliga, can he finally settle at a club?

Manuel Barreto - The winger is a decent signing also many think that the club payed to much for the player, seeing as he has not got a guaranteed place in the first XI.

The only transfer out was youngster Antonio Miguelez on a free to Puno, apart from all the youth players going to feeder clubs.

Transfer History

Cusco Athletico

With another big player leaving during the summer, it seems that Cusco are resigned to life in the Second Division.

Josepmir Ballon - A very good singning for Second Division standards, but not a big name by any means...

Miguel Escalante - A decent goalkeeper, but again nothing for Superliga standards.

Not very ambitious moves, the tactic of singing players from Second Division opponents hasnt payed off so far and Cusco need to do something different if they want to come back to the big time.

Transfer History

Lima

After their Sudamericana title Lima spent over £20 Million in the transfer market, although only on 3 players.

Alexander Sanchez - the highest transfer by Lima, he is a good player although it is questionable if he is really worth the money.

Miguel Arevalo - The full-back is nothing special yet, but he has time to develop as he is only 20.

Wilmer Aguirre - Was the best striker at Mayobamba last season and will certainly form a good partnership with Jose Paolo Guerrero.

Ernesto Arakaki is the biggest transfer away from the club, he was getting a bit older, but his experience was vital in South America last year. Youngster Jvier Heredia was sold to Mayobamaba in a £4.8 Million deal.

Trasnfer History

Los Incas

The two-time champions only made one signing, the overconfidence in the squad could prove a similar downfall to Norte Chico's.

Christian Maidana - One of the only players lured back from Europe, he looks a decent signing, although in an area were there is already massive competition for places.

Only two transfers out, youngster Miguel Arevalo to Lima and ageing Henry Colan was released, although he was never a decent player for the club.

Transfer History

LW FC

After the extremely good season they had last year, the LW FC board dissappointed the fans by not making any signings and selling two key players to Superliga rivals.

Transfer History

Mayobamba C.F.

After two years of consolidation in the Superliga, Mayobamba have spent big this season and could be this years surpirse package.

Jair Baylon - After just one season at LW FC he left for a whopping £28.5 Million to Mayobamba. The Mountain side will have to hope that they can manage to hold on to him for a couple of years. Will have a tough job trying to replace Aguirre though.

Javier Heredia - Another one of those youngsters that doesnt look to great, but could improve.

Jose Luis Sanz - Mayobamba spent big on this massive promise of a player, he will surely command respect in midfield.

Julio Landauri - After a few years in Colombia he came back to Peru and looks like a very good signing.

Maximiliano Scapparoni - Another player leaving a giant i Argentina to come to Peru, he looks like a dcent goalkeeper which will surely mature well with age.

Apart from Aguirre there were no major transfers out, ageing Marco Ruiz left for Third Divison side Villa del Mar.

Transfer History

Norte Chico

Although there problem is in attack, Norte Chico signed two defender and only one player that can help in the attack.

Ernesto Arakaki - Has probably only got one or two good season left in him, but is still a class player and his experience will be viatl for Norte Chico.

Jair Cespedes - A bizarrely versatile player, can play a a full-back on the rig or the left, but his best position is as an AMC. Many speculate that he will fill a playmaker role to aleviate the creative need on Robinho.

Martin Tenemas - An excellent signing, the national squad member is at his best at DR, but can play as a right midfielder as well.

Only young goalkeeper Jose Alejandro Campos left on a free for World Starz, other than that no good players left.

Transfer History

Puno

The Panthers showed very little ambition and seem content on finishing below mid-table every season.

Antonio Miguelez - The youngster was signed on a free from Ciudad but has already been loaned out to Bolognesi to gain some first team experience.

Eduardo Vergara - A decent young goalkeeper, but not the signing expected by the Puno fans.

Joaquin Galan - The only player were money was spent and he has actually got some ery good potential.

At least there were no major departures at Puno, Marco Silva left for big money to Universitario but he want a great player anyway.

Westfields FC

There was a massive clear out at Allpay Park and there are fears that the club may be heading the same way as Cusco Athletico.

Alberto Conde - Signed on a free form rivals LW FC, he could become a memeber of the first tema in future.

Jean Pierre Moreno - Brough back from Mexico, the left winger will become a leading figure now that many key players have left.

Nestor Duarte - A decent defender that is supposed to replace Alberto Rodriguez in the long term. If he has the ability to do so remains to be seen.

Very bad transfer window for Westfields as 6 first team players left the club. They are still one of the best sides in the Second Division, but nothing compared to the side they used to be.

Transfer History

World Starz

World Starz only made two signings but one of them was the best signing of the window.

Jose Alejandro Campos - Nope, not him. This goalkeeper has some potential and will learna lot from Erick Delgado.

Thiago Neves - Signed from rivals Westfields, he was one of the SOuth American stars that moved at the start of the Superliga. An absolute bargain at £4.8 Million considering the quality player that he is.

Young goalkeeper Eduardo Vergara left, but the replacement is even better so World Starz have definately got stronger for the new season.

Once again Cusco are stuck in the 2nd Division and we haven't exactly done much to change that.

With 251 mil in the bank you'd think they could at least invest a bit into players but spending not even 1 mil and selling a player to the value of 14 mil is not exactly going to get us out of this Division.

At least the squad should improve from last year with our youngsters getting better. We really needed to buy a new striker and a few defenders though especially since we lost Ross.

Link to post

So Los Chicos finally signed a few players. Tenemas looks a tidy attacking fullback which is needed if we persist with that formation. What we really need though is a decent D/ML. Arakaki looks "ok", still just about has the physical stats to play at DC.

Not at all convinced about Cespedes in the playmaker role though, does he really have the quality for such a key rolse in the team? Surely Robhino should be captaining the side from that position with Manco and Fabiano upfront.

Time for a new manager soon icon_smile.gif

2012 August Update

League Standings

Los Incas have been the absolutely dominating side once again, having gone the Opening Stage unbeaten. A whole 10 points behind El Club de Oro are Lima. From then on its all extremely tight with 4 points separating 3rd placed CDT and 7th placed LW FC. The qualification for continental places is therefore still wide open. There is a massive gap between 7th and 8th with Sporting Cristal a whole 12 points behind LW FC. But Sporting Cristal are the first non-Escobar side that have been able to be competitive in the Superliga, causing fears to the established sides. Ciudad, Mayobamba and Puno are all involved in a relegation battle! Cesar Vallejo are the beating boys of the league and have collected a measly 5 points in 22 games.

Past Positions - 3rd and 4th

Past Positions - 5th and 6th

Just for a change Pato has been one of the best players in the Superliga so far, topping the goal charts. This time it isnt Kaka pulling the strings for Lima, Jose Paolo Guerrero is having a very good season full of goals.

Libertadores Watch

Preliminary Round

LW FC were handed a very tough draw to try and get into the Copa Libertadores proper, Gremio being there opposition. However with the success Peru enjoyed last year in South American competitions, The Warriors went into the tie with confidence. The first leg at the Olimpico didnt start too well though as William Saldanha put the Brazilians ahead after 9 minutes. There was no reply from LW FC and the score remained like that until half-time. Gremio were the more awake side at the restart and William Saldanha extended the lead. From then on The Warriors pushed forward with little success until the 74th minute when Ailton reduced the deficit. No goals after that and although LW FC are behind they have scored what could prove to be a vital away goal. That away goal advantage was whiped off within 10 minutes played at Arena Los Lima as Charles put Gremio ahead. The goal completely knocked The Warriors back and they just didnt react and ended up conceding another goal in the first half. In the second half Gremio just defended there advantage and LW FC didnt even really make any sort of effort to force a comeback. LW FC just havent performed in both there South American campaigns. So far they have played 4 times in South America, losing all 4 games.

1st Leg

2nd Leg

Group Stages

With LW FC not making it into the Group Stages, Peruvian hopes rested on CDT and Los Incas.

Group C - CDT

Los Osos were drawn in the group of death, with Mexican giants Pumas, former winner Velez and record winners Independiente. The Trujillo side really struggled, only getting one win before the last game. They were third, two points behind second placed Pumas and the last game was at Pumas. CDT went in front and were 20 minutes away from qualifying for the Last 16, but then Pumas uqyalized the game and CDT's hopes were over.

Group Table

Group E - Los Incas

Two Peruvians down, one left. Los Incas were the last hope for the Superliga. They were also put in a very tough group with America (MEX), Cruz Azul and San Lorenzo. They did master the group though, winning all their games bar one. A 2-1 defeat against America (MEX) at the Estadio Azteca.

Group Table

Second Round

Another unfavourable draw for Los Incas saw them play against Botafogo in the last 16 with the first leg being played at the Engenhao in Rio de Janeiro. The difficult circumstances didnt seem to bother the Cusco side and Pato put Los Incas ahead after half an hour. Pedro put the scores level just before half-time though and both sides came out attacking in the second half. Both sides had plenty of chances but only Botafogo made one count as Luis Carlos gave the Brazilians the edge for the second leg. There was a lot of talk about the dissappointing performance from Peruvians this year and the danger of not having any side in the last 8. However Los Incas shut up the critics with an astonishing perfromance, trashing Botafogo 6-1 at Arena Machu Picchu.

1st Leg

2nd Leg

Quarter Finals

A slightly easier opponenet in the quarters, Colo Colo are a very big side in Chile but never reach anything more than quarter finals when it comes to continental competitions. A good sign for Los Incas and they stormed thorugh the first half at the Monumental in Santiago with goals from Pato and Diego Novaretti. The second half had a couple fo downfalls as Novaretti and Guizasola left injured, but Pato scored a thir goal just before full-time to all but seal the tie. The second leg started jus like the first finished, with a Pato goal. Colo Colo completely lost their heads after that and had two players sent off after 23 minutes. The 9 men actually played much better at times than the 11 men over the first leg. They even threatened with a draw, but the game ended 4-2 for Los Incas and an easy passage into the Semis.

1st Leg

2nd Leg

Semi Finals

A big test for El Club de Oro in the semis as they faced las years winners and Wrld Starz conquerors Cruzeiro in the Seim Final. The first leg at the Mineirao was a nervy affair and the seal was only broken late in the first half as full-back Michel Bastos burst forward and opened the scoring for Cruzeiro. Los Incas went into the second half determined to get an equalizer and that man again, Pato, scored it in the 70th minute. Los Incas played with a more defensive mind from then on as the draw was a very good result to take back to Cusco. However the defensive mentality was punished as Renatinho scored with the virtually last kick of the game, game point Cruzeiro. Another full-back opened the scoring in the second leg. This time it was much earlier and much better for the Peruvians as Roberto Barea put Los Incas ahead. Pato extended the lead just before half-time, but all Cruzeiro had to do was score a goal to take the tie into penalties. So Los Incas went all defensive again, but there counter attacks were much more effective and Pato sealed the tie with an hour gone, maiking it 3-0 on the night and 4-2 on aggregate.

1st Leg

2nd Leg

The Final

The final was Los Incas vs. Independiente, Los Incas playing in their first ever final and Independiente looking for their 8th title. Los Incas had the advantage of playing the second leg at home again, but had to make sure they got a good result in Avellaneda to make that advantage count. It was a tense game with Independiente giving everything to get a lead, but Nicolas Navarro had an amzing performance. It looked like the game was going to end in a 0-0, but the last 10 minutes were hectic. Los Incas made a counter attack count and Jose Emilio Merida surprisingly but the Peruvians ahead on the 80th minute. But a lapse in concentration and a quick reaction saw Independietne equalize two minutes later with Ignacio Scocca. There was a controversial free-kick in added time for Independiente and Los Incas defender saw a second yellow for contesting the decision. The free-kick was well saved by Nicolas Navarro and on the counter attack Pato put Los Incas in front again. There was no time for Independiente to react this time and Los Incas took a massive step towards the title. The late goal seemed to put Independiente down and they didnt really turn up at Arena Machu Picchu. Pato scored two goals in the first 25 minutes to seal the title. Independiente scored a consolation goal 5 minutes before the end but none of the Los Inca players cared as they had just won the title!

Squads and Transfers

Atletico Arequipa

Los Blancos are having a decent season again and are battling it out for a continental qualification place. So they brought i two more players to assist them in the battle.

Jean Pierre Cancar - The good right-back comes from Westfields and is surely a very good addtion.

Michael Guevara - One of the main reasons why Sporting Cristal have been competing well in the Superliga, he was lured by the big money he could spend at an Escobar club.

There was one big transfer out with promising midfielder Pedro Lozano leaving for Westfields FC in a £10.25 Million deal.

Transfer History

Squad

CDT

No transfers in or out for CDT as the management feels that the current squad has what it takes to qualify for the Libertadores again or even challenge for th title.

No transfer in just a couple fo loans to feeder clubs and Second Division sides.

Transfer History

Squad

Cusco Athletico

No transfer in or out, hopefully this doesnt mean another year in the Second Division.

Lima

The only transfer out was the sale of youngster Andreu Engonga to Universitario. The youngster didnt make the cut at lima and was offloaded.

Transfer History

Squad

Los Incas

After their Libertadores success Los Incas have brought in a couple of Mexicans to Cusco.

Cirilo Saucedo - Comes in on a free as his contract with German side Nurnberg expired. Will provide stiff competition for Nicolas Navarro who has bee performing well.

Edgar Andrade - Juan Carlos La Rosa was too old to keep up with the standard in the Superliga and was sold to San Luis in Mexico. Edgar Andrade comes in as a very good replacement.

Young goalkeeper David Quesada was sold to Westfields and Yessu Cabrera was loaned out to Millonarios to gain some experience.

Transfer History

Squad

LW FC

After not bringing in anyone in the summer and languishing in 7th place, The Warriors decided to splash the cash on one player.

The big spending at Mayobamba hasnt really payed off as the club is in the relegation battle. So the manager has decided to spend more money!!

Anderson Cueto - A decent midfielder that coming in from Universitario, will add depth to the squad.

Jesus Rey - Mayobamab have struggled a bit for goals this season and Jesus Rey will give them a bit of veriety up front.

Luis Ramirez - The best and most expensive signing, Luis Ramirez can be a paymaker or provide the crosses from the right.

A couple fo youngster have also been sold off to Second Division sides as they didnt find space in the squad, although Alfonso Rubio looked a good prospect.

Squad

Norte Chico

The loss of Reimond Manco was a massive blow and no replacement was signed. There was one signing brought in from Europe.

Diego Perez - After many yuears in Monaco the Uruguayan returns to South America. His experience will be very useful, but he isnt the signing the fans were expecting after the departure of Manco.

A few youngster have also been sold to Second Division sides and loaned out to feeder clubs.

Squad

Puno

No transfers in our out for The Panthers. Seems liek a very unambitious move from a club that is very much relegation threatened this season.

Squad

Westfields FC

The massive clear out has continued at Westfields, but there has also been some transfers in.

David Quesada - The youngster has good potential and is definately already a good player for Second Division standards.

Jaime La Torre - The striker is certainly not top quality, but with Gonazalo Higuain leaving for Liverpool, Westfields had to bring any sort of player in up front.

Pedro Lozano - The club spent big on this youngster who could turn out to be a great midfielder. It is still a bit of a gamble at this price though.

Westfields are a shade of the side they used to be, mostly now as Gonzalo Higuain has returned to Europe. It really look like they are heading the same way as Cusco Athletico.

World Starz

The Kings have only loaned out a couple of players in this transfer window.

P.S. Amazingly there have been no managerial changes, not even at Norte Chico icon_wink.gif

Sack the man in charge! Mayobamba have spent 58 million icon_eek.gif so far and sit just above the relegation zone! icon_redface.gif Let's bring in Bryan Robson - he couldn't do any worse...

Baylon looks to have been a waste of money so far. Looks like the keeper is injured too meaning the new signing is being put under too much pressure too early in his career.

Nevertheless, great updates. KUTGW icon14.gif

Ishiaku & Rodriguez keeping the club afloat. Hopefully we get a chance of Libertadores next year, 'tis a bit dull being stuck in mid-table.

Guevara was needed. Do we have a central midfield?!

And finally, congrats to Los Incas. The Superliga appears to have some good teams now - but the rest need to lift to join the level of the Incas.

Norte Chico doing a bit better than I'd expected; looks like our form has been good recently, if we can keep it up then a libertadores spot is always a possibility.

Gutted to see Manco sold icon_frown.gif His stats improved amazingly quickly over the course of last season;

Manco 01/08/2011

Manco 01/08/2012, I guess partly due to some international appearances. If that continues he'll turn into a world class player before long.

Congrats to Los Incas for bringing home the Copa Libertadores. It's hard to see anyone challenging them in the Peruvian league anytime soon. Maybe when Pato retires icon_biggrin.gif

Sorry for the recent lack in updates. I have injured my foot and have been taking pain killers, meaning I get home after work and almost instantly fall asleep. Will get the end of season update done at the latest by sunday.

I have to take pain killers for about 2 weeks as well, so after that updates will come more regularly icon_smile.gif

Sorry to hear about that Corinthiano icon_frown.gif

Maybe you could upload a picture of your foot and we could all pray for it to heal - it worked for Beckham in 2002! icon_biggrin.gif
