Ouch.

On the bright side, this might push you to move somewhere else, the city of Den Haag sounds boring. Administrative center, International War Court location. Boring. I imagine a stadium attended by lawyers in their suitcases rather than passionate ultras.

I wish that were true, but Den Haag have some of the most violent fans in Holland!  My only win was against Ajax, the league champions as well.

I am now in a relegation playoff against Volendam.

I guess instead of the lawyers, it's their clients attending the matches then...

Wow.  Just wow.  What an introduction to Dutch football.  Apart from the win over Ajax, we were absolutely dreadful.  So utterly inept it is laughable.  Thankfully, we recovered some form and maintained our top flight status by winning the playoffs.  The second fixture screenshot shows the games I was in charge of.

We were already eliminated before I arrived though made it to the third round, before losing at PSV Eindhoven.

Season Preview

Season 2019/20

ADO Den Haag

395px-ADO_Den_Haag_logo.svg.png

Media Prediction - 11th.

My Expectation - 10th.  Mid table must be my objective.

Transfer Budget - £1,999,850.

Wage Budget - £110,450. per week.

Pre Season Friendlies

A mixed bag, though we were never outclassed.  The loss to Rotherham was particularly disappointing, however.

hWy5wz.png

Squad

I have managed to acquire a fair few new players and nearly all will be immediate starters.

UtbnLr.png

Transfers

Players In

The squad needs a complete overhaul, but I do not have the money to do it all at once.  I am still really pleased with the transfer business I managed though.

6jfvzx.png

Didier Bamba - Ivorian Under 20 international right winger signed from ASEC Mimosas in his homeland for a transfer fee of £140,000.

Kane Wilson - 19 year old English right back signed on a season long loan from West Brom.

Tyrese Campbell - Another 19 year old signed on a season long loan, this striker has been loaned from Stoke City.

Mihai Dobre - A 20 year old from Romania, this left winger has been signed on a season long loan from Bournemouth.

Ayman Mohamed - Another left winger, this Egyptian Under 20 international arrives from homeland club Ismaily for a transfer fee of £600,000.

Ali Tafer - An Under 20 Algerian international, this central midfielder signs from JSM Bejaia, his first club, in Algeria, for a transfer fee of £325,000.

Moussa Yao - The cream of the crop.  Arriving from ASEC Mimosa for a transfer fee of £1.3m, this centre back chose us over Barcelona amongst others.  Has a £10.5m release clause.

Phil Ferguson - This 19 year old American striker has signed on a free transfer from SKC Academy in his homeland.

Players Out

I released and sold twenty seven players.  That shows just how many mediocre players are at this club.  I made the decision to sell Wilfred Kanon, who was one of our better players, to fund the bigger holes elsewhere in the side.

I have signed this chap on loan until the New Year.  His contract with his parent club, Aab Aalborg, expires then so if he performs well I may well try to sign him permanently.

Ali looks a player, bit lazy though! Never heard of him before surprisingly!

I have acquired two more players close to the transfer deadline.

Ibrahima Diouf is an 18 year old Senegalese striker, signed for a bargain £10,000 from Generation Foot in his home country.  He has immediately been loaned out to affiliate club FC Dordrecht.

gJqPUC.png

Juan Cuartas is a 19 year old Colombian Under 20 international goalkeeper, signed for £675,000 from Atletico National in his homeland.

gJqPUC.png

Finally, I signed Kevin N'Doram on a season long loan from Swansea City.  He is a 23 year old French central defender.

XzYVcE.png

I also sold a further two players, with seven more going out on loan, including new signing Ibrahima Diouf.  So in total, thirty six players have either been sold or loaned out this summer.

An interesting offer which I have declined.  When I do eventually become an international manager, if I do, then I will resign from my club side to make it realistic.  I am not ready to leave ADO Den Haag yet, unless I receive a mouthwatering offer.

Season Preview

Season 2020/21

ADO Den Haag

395px-ADO_Den_Haag_logo.svg.png

Media Prediction - 6th.

My Expectation - 2nd.  I am seeking an improvement on last season.

Transfer Budget - £1,613,958.

Wage Budget - £172,227 per week.

Pre Season Friendlies

A satisfying pre season with the 6-1 crushing of Boca Juniors being the highlight.  Just the one defeat, at home to Leicester City.

46Dl5MB.png

Squad

A healthy looking squad that I have improved from last season.  With European football this season, the depth may be found out, however.

2Zzi4M3.png

Transfers

My squad continued taking shape, as I build a squad to challenge Ajax for the title.

Players In

WbMPpbF.png

A few new signings, with 20 year old Paraguyan international centre back Manuel Gonzalez looking like the best new player.  A risk at £2.5m, however.  I also extended the loan deals of two players for another season from their respective parent clubs in England.  In total, three players commanded a transfer fee, spending £3.75m in total, two were signed on free transfers and three additional loans were brought in.

I'm reading Daz, keep it up. In fact, I currently have a Dutch save going myself with RKC Waalwijk. Now in season 4, currently sit second behind SC Heerenveen.

I love Dutch saves, I love the challenge of trying to bridge the gap to PSV, Ajax and Feyenoord. I've currently got 3 fantastic youth players (regens) who have propelled in to second place this season. I sold my main striker who wasn't willing to sign a new deal for £3m (he said he'd sign a new deal if we qualified for the EURO League, which we did. He still wouldn't sign a new deal so he joined Girona in the Spanish SECOND Division!). I now have my 18 year old youth regen striker starting, and he has 13 goals in 15 league games so far.

I make sure I manage in Holland every FM as is my favourite country for football for the same reasons as you.  Do you have a screenshot of your young striker?  Great stuff taking such a small club to the Champions League, assuming you finish top two that is.

Me too. In fact RKC Waalwijk have been my only save on FM17 so far. I like them that much I'm thinking of buying their shirt! I'll try and get a screenshot tonight of him. Indeed, i'm only in November at the moment, so still a long way of the season to go. Got knocked out of the Europa League group stages unfortunately though!

Anyway, keep up the good work, i'll definitely continue to read.

Thanks mate.  It is slowing down now though.  I wish I could reduce the amount of loans though, but I cannot afford to permanently sign this calibre of player.

My final piece of transfer business was signing this young goalkeeper, who will serve as understudy, for £400,000 from Sepahan.  I also agreed deals for two young South Americans and one young African, who will join in the first available transfer window when they hit eighteen.

I have read your manager career just a moment ago. All the way back from the start and I must admit I have enjoyed this. Managing Forfar all the way to the second tier of Scotland (Scottish Championship). They even promoted to the highest level :applause:.

But then you have taken the spot at ADO Den Haag. I am Dutch myself, so I do have a preference for Dutch clubs in general. Makes sense, right?:brock:

The club will not regret bringing you in. You take this club to the next level. Well done. In the end finishing third in the Eredivisie, first time in their history...

Only one con in this story. The transfers you brought and bring in are mostly from countries all over the world. It would be nice if some fellow Dutchies get in your team soon.

Remember, never doubt writing. In first place you make this for yourself. Readers do not always reply, but they'll certainly read and enjoy your novel.

Thank you, I really appreciate your comments.

Ideally, I would sign more Dutch players.  Problem is, my budget is extremely limited and as such, I need every penny.  The Dutch players cost too much.  That centre back I sold for £10m, cost me £1.3m.  A Dutch equivalent would cost me £7-8m as a minimum.  :(

Have you ever tried contracting players who were (almost) out of contract? What's your experience in the Dutch league?

Besides, it's not a problem if a Dutch players comes from abroad. Try signing (former) youth intake players released by the bigger clubs. Shortlist all youth intake players of the biggest clubs in The Netherlands. 9 times out of 10 it is rubbish, but once in a while you'll find a piece of gold

I do it all the time.  My scouts never get a day off.  As for my experience, I manage in Holland every FM.  If you mean in real life, I watch the Eredivisie League on Sky.  Outside of England, it is probably my favourite league.

On a positive, the board have backed me with Junior Coaching & Youth Recruitment so I am hoping for better intakes going forward.  I love building teams from the academy.

OK, it's great someone scouting players partial the way I do. Also funny the Eredivisie is one of the most interesting leagues abroad, in your opinion.

Season 2020/21

ADO Den Haag

395px-ADO_Den_Haag_logo.svg.png

Europa League

Well this was unexpected.  We won our group after a good campaign to date.  Beating Sevilla home and away are the obvious highlights.  Sevilla were surprisingly poor and are eliminated from the competition.  We have been paired with Galatasaray in the first knockout round, with the first game in Turkey.

KNVB Beker

Oh dear.  Absolutely dreadful.  We lost on penalties at home to Jupiler League side AFC after a goalless draw.  Out in the first round.

Winter Break Friendlies

Just like last season, we had three matches and three wins and again, I couldn't ask for more.

Transfers

There was little activity, with just one in and one out.

Players In

Simon Roger Wembangomo is a Congolese international right back who will provide competition in that position.  Signed for £750,000 from TP Mazembe in Congo.  His transfer was arranged over a year ago.

Players Out

We received an offer for our teenage Egyptian international left winger, Ayman Mohamed, of £10m, plus a 50% sell on clause, from German side Schalke.  Far too good to turn down.

I have looked in my crystal ball and saw a Eredivisie trophy in the near future. Spectacular meltdown by Ajax!

Holland (and Belgium) is great for sheer exploitation of the transfer market with no restrictions on foreigners. I kinda miss that and might stop over at that part of the globe at some point in my career too...

Definitely re lack of restrictions.  I have plundered the Middle East & Africa for cheap players that have the potential to go very far.  Already sold two for £10m plus 50% add on each.

League

A fantastic season was capped by the club winning their first ever Eredivisie title.  A collapse by Ajax of monumental proportions propelled ADO Den Haag to win the league.  We were also the league's top scorers by a country mile.  Keeping hold of my players is going to be tough.
