I may have missed this point if you've wrote it somewhere, but what are you to do with youth intakes? Will the goal be to have a team made up of Dutch players and you youth players or will the youth players be shipped off?

I don't think I touched on it - so good point.  My 'rule' is that I'm only allowed to sign Dutch players.  So youth intake guys are grand, I'm just not allowed to sign anyone from anywhere else.  Hopefully with the change in agreement with VVV-Venlo though we'll start to see some Dutch guys come through the ranks as well.

The ultimate goal: 90th minute in the CL Final here, and West Ham have just brought on Peter Van Mijnks YP36a. A great passing move and Peter is through on goal. Only the City keeper to beat now! AND HE SCORES! WEST HAM WIN THE CHAMPIONS LEAGUE THROUGH DUTCH YOUNGSTER PETER VAN MIJNKS!

Squad Analysis 2050/51

So, before we head into September, here's how my new squad looks.

Goalkeepers

Alessandro Petrassi ITA (34) - 2.5CA/PA, will be 35 next month and is an absolute backup.
Martin Constancia SP34d NED (34) - 2.5CA/PA, our other golden oldy between the sticks, on the other hand, only turned 34 last week.
Anthony Sueur BEL (22) - 4.5CA, 5PA, our relative youngster is first choice by a long shot.
Verdict:  We're totally solid here, and we have 32 year old Scot Calum Armstrong on loan at Hibs for the year.

Right Wing Back

Nicolai Hansen-Frost DEN (26) - 3.5CA/PA, a centre back who is comfortable at RB or RWB.
Josep Rodriguez ESP (27) - 3CA/PA, a right winger who is reasonable at RWB.
Evgeny Ovchinnikov RUS (26) - 2.5CA/PA, same story as Josep, a backup option in this position and will be allowed to move on.
Verdict:  In terms of depth we're grand here, but we have no specialists in this position and not a lot of quality either.  Nicolai will be our first choice, as he's the most defensive of the three and that's how I want the right side to line up.

Left Wing Back

Jaime BRA (32) - 4CA/PA.  First choice, also comfortable at LM.
Jos Nijholt SP34e NED (29) - 3CA/PA.  Another Dutch import to London, currently an understudy to Jaime but will get his share of games.
Armand Aka FRA (19) - 2.5CA, 4.5PA.  Retraining from the left wing.
Verdict:  We also have Lucas in the U23s who will come in to replace Jaime eventually.  This is a much stronger area than the right hand side.

Centre Backs/Sweepers

Mitchell van de Beek SP34a NED (31) - 3.5CA/PA.  A solid option in central defence.
Thibaut Laurent BEL (29) - 4.5CA/PA.  Our best player, captain, and an absolute monster at the back.
Stjepan Marinovic CRO (26) - 3CA/PA, rotation option.
Biagio Improta ITA (25) - 3.5CA/PA, first choice.
Borja Cesar ESP (22) - 2.5CA/PA, backup.
Verdict:  This is a very strong area with plenty of youngsters available to flesh out the squad when some of the older guys retire.

Defensive and Central Midfield

Matthias Schnier GER (33) - 3CA/PA, first choice.
Ramone Salomon JAM  (30) - 2.5CA/PA, rotation option.
Marten Cuypers BEL (28) - 2.5CA/PA, PSG are after him and I'm happy to sell.
Gerardo Lopez Rubio MEX (20) - 2.5CA, 4.5PA, rotation option and will be here for a while.
Diogo Cunha POR (31) - 4CA/PA, first choice.
Roel Broekhuizen SP34c NED (30) - 2.5CA/PA, rotation option.
Leon Groenendaal SP34b NED (22) - 3PA, one for the future.
Candido Leca POR (20) - 3.5PA, likewise.
Verdict:  We are pretty overcrowded here, but with 4 of these guys in their thirties, they're not likely to be around for long.

Attacking Midfielders

Kyle MacLellan ENG (29) - 4.5CA/PA, an Englishman!  Ladies and gentlemen, we actually have an Englishman!
Ignacio Martinez ESP (26) - 2CA/PA, backup option.
Verdict:  A strong area but without any serious backup.  A few of the CMs can play here unconvincingly, but this is an area I'll be looking to strengthen in depth.

Strikers

Abraham Torres ESP (33) - 3.5CA/PA.  First choice, but not for long.
Miguel Navarro ESP (30) - 3CA/PA, rotation option.
Candido Peres BRA (23) - 3CA/PA. Rotation option, will get more gametime when Torres retires.
Rafael Sousa POR (19) - 5PA. Will give this guy as much game time as possible as he looks to be a serious star of the future.
Verdict:  Another strong area.

As you can see, my predecessors seem to have had something against English talent... We have a single Englishman in the squad, who was actually born in Scotland.  It's time for that to change, with my Dutch only signing policy grounded upon a reliance on homegrown talent!

Okay... so explain this one to me.  We're in fantastic form in September, don't concede any goals but struggle to find the back of the net.  At the end of the month our two first choice strikers, Abraham Torres and Candido Pires, are both ruled out with injury for 7 weeks and 5 months respectively.  Disaster!  We can't score, and our best strikers are out with long term injuries.  In come rotation option Miguel Navarro and youngster Rafael Sousa and...

Okay, so Burnley and Crystal Palace break our resolve at the back after 9 clean sheets, but the goals are flooding in!  Huh.  Most importantly though, we are now unbeaten since that 3-1 loss to City in the Community Shield, and that puts us 3rd in the league after ten games - behind Manchester City and Arsenal.

Oooh...nice start to the season! What do your homegrown numbers look like?

Looking forward to you winning that CL, a feat I'll need to replicate eventually :)

Exactly! Guide for finding Irish Basques: Look in the Basque pubs.

I am currently looking for an Irish LWB in a Helsinki airport bar...  Nothing doing so far.  I will report back in 10 days on my scouting mission to Scotland!  No FM for a while :(
