[FM14] "Nature Vs. Nurture" - an experiment in Time and Physics

Recommended Posts

Will try to get some updated screens up tomorrow night. Only real problem is because I'm not managing these players and have no scouts, their attributes screens are getting spotty. I thought about DL'ing FM Scout to look at their screens, but either my anti-virus or Windows 8 blocks the download as having spyware. But I'll get what stats and screens I can.

well you could just take over a team and well just them for there scouts :D

Except that would influence the outcome of the data by displacing a duly-appointed manager and scouting players that they might not necessarily be looking at. I've tried to keep everything as "hands off" as I could.

Next time I run this database, I'm just going to take over a club, and sign all these players as soon as I can get a scout to them, and take over the world.

Well you could take over a club that doesn't have the financial clout to buy them, but does have the ability to scout the whole World, spend and simply not buy them. How likely is it that someone like...... Stoke for example would buy one of these players if you took over and went on holiday?

I've snagged the scouting attributes for January 2016, am running another 6 months and will grab the history/bios for the players so far up to July 2016. After this, I'll like run a year at a time and lessen the whole "Messi should be dropped from national team" captures. Selfish me, trying to move things along so I can play my 5-6 standing saves. Hopefully, when I have an hour to kill at work tonight, I'll get most of the saves screens up.

A quick jump forward to July 2017, just a few updated screens and stats: Really, most of the news items are "third-world country should drop greatest prospect of a generation from the national team because their pro team can't seem to play them regularly...". A few of the lads are pulling down great salaries, but some are still stuck in the reserves or on the bench. Sure, they have plenty of time, but I'm worried about their future development.

Anyway here's a few screens:

Sneijder's making $1.1k/week for Braga after new contract http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=230729263

Lampard wants to move to a bigger club than Feyernoord http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=230729241

Ronaldinho re-ups with Fluminense http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=230729233

Ribery's out for 3 months with a torn hammy, but is close to setting all-time goals for Bahamas http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=230729215

Player's International stats: http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=230729206

Player's senior team club stats: http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=230729190

current clubs and values: http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=230729175

I'll try to have more screens at the next update (at least one for each player), but I'm running 4 concurrent saves (my wife hates me) and the attribute masking makes catching screens on all the players a PITA. Maybe this year things will really pick up for everyone.

Nice thread. It would be interesting to see if any of the obscure nations of these world class players can reach the world cup.

Keep it up!

I probably need to post those countries rankings if there's been any significant change.

I probably need to post those countries rankings if there's been any significant change.

I looked at the country rankings, virtually no movement at all over 5 years, no WC qualifications, I guess one player per country can only do so much...which in this case is apparently get a big contract from a European superclub and move as quickly as possible towards the exits.

July 2018

Rooney's stats from the past season: http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=234235132

Messi can't get a first-team play, but he's doing well in cups and continentals: http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=234235139

Falcao, looking good: http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=234235162

Draxler at Basel now: http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=234235145

Sneijder, making a career at Braga: http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=234235153

Ronaldinho, still at Fluminese: http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=234235157

Frank "The Beast" Lampard: http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=234235170

Lewandowski, still stuck in reserves: http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=234235174

Pogba, starting to get a look at Man City: http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=234235181

Ribery, at Padova, looking good: http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=234235189

Suarez, looking good, also: http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=234235192

and yes, somehow I missed Ibrahimovic and Sergio, will have to get them tomorrow.

Oh, look who squared off in the 2018 World Cup: http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=234549326

they should never settle a WC on PK's: http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=234549344

regarding the players internationals, sure they're all doing a bang-up job knocking off their third-world neighbors, but they're not really moving their national rankings at all, and none of the teams are qualifying for World Cup play, either. Maybe there's still a chance, but if I'm these players, I'm signing a nice fat contract and moving to a developed country as quick as I can.

What I can't figure out is why the news reports are always saying "Rooney?/Messi/etc. should be dropped from their national team due to lack of form or appearances at the club level", and then you look, and they've had 30 appearances, a 7+ average rating, and then you look at the national team, and there's no one with a player value over $500 and their average ratings are 6.0-6.5. Sure, Turks & Caicos, you wouldn't want an international superstar on the national team because he's only scored 20 goals this season.

In other news, I somehow deleted 2019 without uploading the screens, except for Ibrahimovic and Sergio, so here's their updates:

Ibrahimovic (2019) http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=235933481

(and then I discover that the duplicate screen of Ibrahimovic's stats that I deleted was instead Sergio's...I'm so dense, light can't escape me...)

So, here's what I've collected from 2020

Ibrahimovic voted Footballer of the year for Oceania http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=235933504

Lampard gets Asian Footballer of the year: http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=235933525 ...and Young Asian Footballer of the year:

http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=235933534

Messi breaks a Man City scoring record: http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=235933542 and a rating record: http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=235933624

Ibrahimovic breaks a team league scoring record: http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=235933564 ...and the Spartak Moscow record:

http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=235933592

Sergio breaks a league scoring record: http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=235933577 and a team scoring record http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=235933609

Falcao breaks a team record for AS Monaco http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=235933634

Sergio goes down with an achilles tendon injury for 3 months: http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=235933652

Ronaldinho becomes captain for Tajikistan http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=235933667 (which for some reason only shows 3 active players for the team)

Falcao re-ups with Monaco for 4 years: http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=235933679

news-wise that was mostly it for 2020, aside from the "so-and-so should be dropped" and some minor injuries (which Rooney seemed to have quite a few). I'll try to get their updated attributes/stats screens up soon.

Go on Zlatan Do you Dare to Zlatan... Also when did Zlatan join Spartak last time i looked he was at Feyernord

evidently it was the year I missed him. These players, they have no team loyalty, they just chase the paycheck.

I have several months of updates to post, but for some reason, Steam screenshots blacks out the small wall pictures, so I can't see what pic I"m wanting to post without clicking through to the big photo. I have a trouble ticket in about it, but don't know if they'll reply. If I don't hear anything by tomorrow night, I'll just have to hunt-and-click for the pics I'm looking to post.
