Luizinho
The best one to use to make fullbacks more prominent and a bigger part of the team is balanced. Yes that is because Mentality disruption is based on Role?
daleuk8
So have I got this right: if you have a side who is not very creative the more rigid you want to play?
NakS
Yes that is because Mentality disruption is based on Role? Exactly, for example a FB-A in Standard - Balanced will have the same mentality (13 in FM13) than a FB-A/S/D in Attack - Rigid (13 in FM13 as well). A FB-S in Standard - Balanced will have the same mentality (10 in FM13) than a FB-A/S/D in Attack - Control (10) or a Very Rigid - Control.
Johnny Ace
Sorry to dig up an old thread but I had a good read through this yesterday (& any other Team Philosophy/ Shape thread I could get my hands on) & this has massively helped me understand an area of the game that I've never really got my head around I play down at level 9, a poor team in a relegation battle (& this one's not my fault ) I was playing Standard & Fluid due to a lack of any team Specialists & just wasn't happy with what I was seeing. In one game, I wanted a little more commitment from a Full back so I changed him to Attack, expecting him to have a little more influence on the game. Didn't happen. I thought he'd overlap the Defensive Winger & make himself an option up field but he was just acting the same as he was on a Defensive Full Back role. I knew it would have to be about Team Shape & seeing the screen shots in the OP I could see why. A Standard/ Flexible Team Shape would've sorted this problem Inspired by that, I loaded up FM '13 & input my team's 3 tactics into there so I could have a good look at the team's individual Mentalities. After a few hours of tinkering I had 5 tactics for my team, all very simple but I had a use for each one & knew what to expect from the players (& even wrote notes in the tactic descriptions) Then I went to a test save in FM 15, a save where I just test tactics & tested all 5 tactics numerous times & tinkered with player roles during the game & was massively pleased with what I saw. I could understand it & felt more in control on my team. I knew when certain positions would look to get more in the mix more & when they'd be more conservative which is what I wanted I know the sliders are a thing of the past but seeing it all onscreen was a massive help to me. mcrimmins
No need to be sorry about digging up one of the best threads ever on this sub-forum, in my opinion.
phnompenhandy
I was playing Standard & Fluid Great name for a Level 9 works team!
Sussex Hammer
I have been playing a 4132 with fluid. Does quite well most of the time but I gave it a go with a rigid philosophy recently which is very rare for me. My Assistant Manager was telling me that I could do without the gap between the midfield and forwards - even with a striker on support and the middle CM with an attack duty so there is movement between the lines..... Now I know the Assistant is a numpty at the best of times but that seems severely wrong as it suggests rigid or very rigid needs an AM of some sort. Move it to flexible or fluid the message goes away.
