The Plan

Starting Unemployed, with a Sunday League reputation, my goal for this career is to conquer all 5 champions league competitions. Assuming I achieve that goal, I intend to then move on to completing the Big Club, Small Country challenge (although an FM13 version has not currently been posted).

The Set-Up

All divisions loaded from: England, France, Italy, Serbia, Brazil, Argentina, USA, Mexico, South Korea, India, South Africa, Portugal and Russia.

I have taken on the mantle of Imangali Kanapyanov, of Kazakh and Belarusian descent. Newly qualified as a coach and eager to prove himself a better manager than he was a player, he has set off into the world in order to find himself his first job.

Updates will (probably) come roughly 6-monthly, depending on how I feel.

African Warriors - South Africa - The First stop

Founded in 2006, African Warriors play in the National First Division. They play their home games at the the 35,000 seater Charles Mopeli Stadium (only 20,000 in-game, though)

Media Prediction: 7th

Expectations: Mid-Table

Wage Budget: £11,941 p/w

Wage Bill: £13,087 p/w

Transfer Budget: £22.4k

Ticket price: £3

Season Ticket Holders: 0

Season Ticket Price: £0

After meeting with the board and the staff at the club, it's pretty clear I'm going to need to add quite a bit of depth, although we're not entirely devoid of quality. I think my best bet is to set up with a controlled 4-4-1-1 formation and work from there.

Seems to be an awful lot of South African strikers who are best suited to play as Trequartistas and I feel I should perhaps try to take advantage of that fact.

My primary aim for the season is a solid league performance - I feel it will have been a successful year if we can reach 5th. A little bit of success in the cup(s) would be nice, but my main focus is going to be the league.

I'm a little confused by the season ticket situation, but I'm sure there must be some ruling or other that I'm just not aware of which means I've not sold a single one.

A little longer term, I can see myself staying here for about 2 seasons, maybe 3 if things look good, before moving on. In that time I don't see any reason why I can't turn the club into a realistic promotion candidate, but in the interests of achieving my goals I will probably be looking to make a step up by the end of that time.

African Warriors - South Africa - 2012/13 Review

National First Division: 13th - Past Positions (Predicted 7th)

National First Division Cup: First Round

South African Cup: First Round

A wildly inconsistent season which saw us start off rocketing up to third in the table before crumbling completely. I feel very strongly that we were a good enough team to post a top half finish, but we were let down time and time again by complacency at the back. At one point we went through a spell of 7 games where we scored 14 goals but conceded 22!

In terms of the good: Sailor Tshabalala, Lynch Pule and Tshidiso Moshikidi stood out as my best performers, such as they were. If the defence can be shored up considerably, then there could even be the chance of a promotion push with this team.

My contract with the club runs out in the summer and I'm pretty sure the board will be content to let it run out, so I'm looking for other employment options right now. I think I'd like to stay in South Africa for the time being, ideally poaching a couple of the young talent that just came through the African Warriors academy this season (See Neppo's in CSE for more info)

Incheon Korail - South Korea - A step sideways

With my contract due up over the summer, and the board quite unlikely to offer me a new one, I decided it was in my best interests to start applying for another job. There was only one realistic job open in South Africa, at Bloem Celtic, so I applied for that one. The board then decided that was highly unprofessional of me and gave me the option of apologising or stepping down. With my situation as it was, I chose to step down and then apply for every single job that seemed realistically possible to get. I was laughed off by a couple of 3rd tier Portuguese clubs and also Incheon Korail, but Korail then turned around and offered me the job. The Bloem vacancy got filled and so it was goodbye to South Africa.

Media Prediction: 4th (curently 11th)

Expectations: Mid-Table

Wage Budget: £6,381 p/w

Wage Bill: £6,774 p/w

Transfer Budget: £45.97k

Ticket price: £1

Season Ticket Holders: 346

Season Ticket Price: £30

They are the oldest club in the current South Korean league system, and despite winning the K2 League in 2005 have never really had too much success. They have gained a reputation as a cup specialist team, though, and if my stay ends up being lengthy this is what I'll be looking to build upon.

The squad is severely lacking in depth (except at the striker position) and this will be my first order of business - get rid of everyone I don't need and bring in some fresh blood to act as back-up. If I can, I'm going to try to poach a couple of the youngsters from African Warriors, as I don't have any foreigners in my squad and I'm allowed up to 3 on match days. I also seem to have 4 goalkeepers in the first team squad, none of whom are all that good. Seems like another good place to save some money on wages!

The contract I've been given is only until December of this year, so this may be an extremely short stint - no point getting too attached to what I have.

My time at Incheon Korail was indeed to be short-lived, as I struggled to ever raise the morale level of the squad and we slumped to a very disappointing 13th place. The board promptly terminated my contract after the final game, and I was once more on the hunt for a club.

Woking.png

Woking - England - 3rd time's a charm?

The first job that I could realistically get to become available instantly offered me a contract on the same day. I took over on the 31st of October, and I'm hoping that there won't be any scares to come over the course of this season.

Media Prediction: 13th (curently 23rd)

Expectations: Mid-Table

Wage Budget: £6,364 p/w

Wage Bill: £6,128 p/w

Transfer Budget: £0

Ticket price: £12

Season Ticket Holders: 411

Season Ticket Price: £203

My contract is again until the end of the season, but I think the board's goals are pretty reasonable and I'd like to think I can garner a little success here. Then again, I said that about the previous two clubs...
