col_utd
I've played both football games for many many years now, enjoying the different sides of the game you get playing FM and FIFA. I can't say I have ever wanted to manager a team from FIFA in FM, doesn't really compare! However, recently I have wanted to play as my FM09 team in FIFA. I spent 38 days (game time) on a FM09 save getting my Colchester United team to 2039 and world dominance, and have only just recently stopped playing it and started FM11. I really wanted to see how this team performed when actually controlling them in FIFA. I found the various player stats and attribute relatively easy to transfer from FM to FIFA, but very time consuming. The player physical stats were very easy; height, weight, build, age, and so on, the actual technical and mental stats also were easy to transfer as FM rate out of 20 and FIFA 100, a simple math to work it out. The challenge was pulling the numbers from FM using pen and paper, noting them all down and then inputing to the online EA Sports team creator. After a good few hours of painstaking attention to detail and accurately copying down every stat, I had my best ever FM team in FIFA, and an absolute pleasure to play as, only rated as 4.5 stars overall for the team, but great fun actually controlling these players I had been screaming at for so long and seeing how FIFA rated them; players I thought were mustard in FM, FIFA didn't rate and visa-versa! So my question, has anyone else transferred a team from FM to FIFA, or am I on my own here???
Pompey1978
That's either an impressive level of dedication, or obsessiveness bordering on the insane! I'm not sure which, but hats off to you for sticking at it!
col_utd
I think its kinda floating between the two! Although none of my mates will play me as them on FIFA now!!
x42bn6
I've converted my FM08 team into PES6 before, using some converter (Google "Gortop"). Which was pretty good except for the fact attacking players were hilariously overrated - I had a very good defence in that exported team, but it was a terrible defence in PES6. 11Carraghers
Whilst I admire your commitment and would love to have the patience to do this myself, my main problem with this is that FIFA is utter dog turd!! They did this a few years ago on FIFA and FIFA Manager if anyone remembers. PS2 i think. You could manage your team on FIFA Manager, then on gameday click play game option, you input your FIFA disc and then actually played the game. Afterwards, it saved the result, you put your FIFA manager disk in and back to management. Very slow going though swapping discs all the time. x42bn6
I'd love to give that a shot with my FM10 data but it looks as though it's just for FM08. It should work as long as you can get FM10's Genie Scout to output the attributes - it uses FM08's Genie Scout with all nearly-all columns turned on, and generates fancy stuff for positions and PES6 attributes. x42bn6
lol like what shooting 99 ? Basically, I had the best defender in the world when I generated my squad, and his defensive rating in PES6 was in the high-70s, whilst even my mediocre attackers had attacking rating in the 80s. I did have a shooting 99 striker, though...

x42bn6
Awesome. I might give that a go then at some point! Why's that then? Something lost in translation? I don't know. As you may know, there isn't a 1-1 correspondence between attributes in PES6 and FM (and not FIFA and FM, either), so it has to calculate an appropriate value for some attributes. I'm guessing the calculation is fundamentally flawed for defensive players.

Johnjo
"The stats for the players in the Pro Evolution games are provided by Sports Interactive" http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pro_Evolution_Soccer_5 Thought i remembered somthing about this, not sure if they still do it or not. Everton also use the FM database for scouting.

Yes, Gortop's converter works well for me, although I have to adjust things manually (things like positions) and it does take a little hacking round to get things in correct columns and stuff. So, silly question, how would I get it on to my PS then? Does it take into account things like player appearances as well or will all of my players look exactly the same. Is there much stuff to tweak once it has done the conversions?

Is there much stuff to tweak once it has done the conversions? You export the data via Genie Scout to a file that Excel can read (you will need all the columns in a specifc order). You then plug this in to Gortop's spreadsheet and it converts things into PES attributes. So, for example, a striker with Finishing 20, Composure 20 and a high CA might have a PES6 attacking attribute of, say, 90. Then you enter these into your team in PES6 (maybe one of the C league teams). Unfortunately it doesn't export the physical looks but it is of course important to get it correct in PES6 because height and weight matter (except for cosmetic features like eyes, of course). The positions are also exported but PES6 doesn't have the notion of "awkward" or "unconvincing", for example - it's either a playable position or not. I had to hack things around a bit more because I only have OpenOffice, not Microsoft Excel.

I thought it was going to magically get the data into the game for me. :o How long do you think it would take to do a squad of 20 or so players? I'd quite like to give it a go but if it's going to take an age, then I'll be a bit put off.
col_utd
All I done was copy down on paper all the stats I needed for the players in FIFA, then I found the relevant attribute in FM, times it by 20 and in put it into the player creator on the EA sports website! The creator is also very easy to use. It doesn't actually take as long as you may think, as once you have the list of attributes required it just becomes a matter of data transfer. Took me best part of a day though granted, but worth it! If anyone has FIFA, and wants too download the team and have a go, just let me know and I'll make the team available for public download and provide a link. dustygator
If you wanted to do it on a larger scale, it wouldn't take that long using excel. Ideally, you would use Genie Scout or something to output all attributes for players on a team or whatever to excel. Then you decide on a formula for attribute conversion. Ex: FIFA finishing = 2.5xFM finishing + 2.5xFM composure since FIFA uses 100 pt scale and doesn't have composure. Attributess like long shots and dribbling can just be multiplied by 5. Then use the row/column functions in excel to convert the attributes for all the players at once. Then it's just inputting the numbers into FIFA. Using that convertor to use my CL winning squad in pes 2011. Working great so far. This is the layout to use for genie scout 11: http://rapidshare.com/files/451047125/pes.glf Load your players, export to html. @dustygator: or you can just use the convertor that already exist and does just that

DivineOne
Like I said, it's a layout file. Put it in genie scouts layout folder and load it up. Apparantly you can't export attributes, so you'll need to type them over, about doubling the time it takes to do this .

Yes, you used to be able to export attributes from Genie Scout but SI asked the developer to drop the feature from this year's version. They were worried that it made it too easy for rival games to pinch the database.
Lenzar
Pity the developer lacked the testicals to tell SI that his free utility wasn't theirs to re-design.
crouchaldinho
I've downloaded the layout thing (thanks DO) and also the converter. I definitely want to do this some time but I wonder if I will ever have the patience! It would be awesome to be playing PES with my star striker, Michel Vermeer, plus some of his colleagues in a version of my St. Albans City team from 2028. x42bn6
Bit harsh I think. It's a perfectly reasonable request. I don't think it is. The tool can indeed be used to violate copyright, but this is like Photoshop being blamed for modifying pictures of child pornography - Photoshop isn't to blame here. Besides, it's not like it's ridiculously difficult to take a memory dump of the database when it's loaded into memory via the editor, and parse it from there.
