After bringing in Laurent Blanc for Gordon Strachan last summer, he has dispensed with the services of Blanc after a dissapointing 2nd half to the season and terrible cup performances. The new manager in place from July 1st is former Turkish international Fatih Terim. Terim has a wealth of experience having managed all over Europe, winning various titles, as well as managing the Turkish team. Cartwright said "I was really pleased with the job Laurent had done in January, so decided to spend a bit of money on the squad, thinking it might improve our position in the league a bit, or even a cup run. However 5 months down the road, and we just about managed to survive in the league. People might say that this was our aim at the start of the season so why sack Blanc, but the aim changed after sitting 10th with half the season gone. I had sort of forigven Laurent for losing in the League Cup to a lower league team as it was early on in his Boro career. However there were no excuses for losing in the FA Cup at home to another lower league side. Then the league form went rapidly downhill and that was too much and he had to go. Wolves spent a lot of time and money to bolster their squad in an attempt to make a push for Europe but failed miserably, and now a lot of their players look to be heading for the exit door. Rumors are emerging that there was a lot of disagreements and arguments in the dressing room through out the season over who should start. Rumors also suggest that the players were thrown together in such short notice that they weren't given enough time to blend together. Either way Wolves are going to have to offload a number of players in order to clear up the heavy wages they are currently spending. Everton chairman was quoted "A lot of the players on Wolves are quality and I am surprised they fell out like this. The Liverpool Chairman would also like to thank the the efforts of all the Manchester United players they put ip a good fight, although i'm not too sure where they ended up in the League last season. Back in 1987 no-body gave him and this club a chance and look what has happened since.
