Arkim
After deciding to e-mail Steam myself, I have been given the following answer;
Wakers
People should send Steam emails about their price gouging, see what kind of response you get about that!
Arijit
I have tried before (regarding different game) and they simply overlook my email.
Mercurial23
Sorry if I'm asking a question that's been answered, but is it for sure that FM10 will be available for download from Steam US Store? I want to make sure it is before I order through Steam.
AbsoluteGenius
I'd never buy the game on Steam. My hatred of being ripped off is stronger than my love for FM.
Arkim
Take a look at the 3rd post above yours. Not sure if that's quite the answer you were looking for.
Mercurial23
Yeah, I saw that post, but I was looking for anything from SI on the matter. Wasn't sure if they had made that announcement yet. I'd rather just do Steam since it's fast and easy, but only if it's FM.
Arkim
There hasn't been an official response from SI unfortunately. I think this year things might be different though. I mean, it is an official response from Steam.
roseboy64
Contact SEGA.
Mercurial23
I tend to take email responses from their customer service department as non-official. Unless it's posted somehwere by SEGA by their PR department, I take it with a grain of salt. I just dont want to order it, and come to find out that they later change it to WWSM. Nordmore
You can download the game on Direct2Drive $39.
Mercurial23
Surprised to see it on Direct2Drive. Haven't seen it there before. Down to Steam and D2D I guess.
impirion
If you look at the retail prices though, the price is also different between US and other places. It's £39.99 here in UK so Steam asking for the same is to be expected. I assume it's similar in Europe Mainland.
Guest
Steam needs to change the european prices, its getting ridicules. Direct2Drive.co.uk (£29,95 + Free game "Outrun 2006" ) vs Steam (~£44) Choice is easy for me.
impirion
?!? Steam is 29.99 plus free game... where are you looking? Edit. Sorry, noticed you are in Europe, not UK. In UK Steam is offering basically the same as D2D.
Mercurial23
39 Pounds for you guys is like almost $60 if not a little more here in the States. That's ridiculous. As long as I get FM10 and not WWSM then I don't care who I download it from...same price for both digital downloads.
eddieskyclad
Steam's pricing in the UK/ROW might be annoying but it's been their policy for ages... it's all about local markets. Steam have entered into agreements where they do not destroy the local market for computer games. That's why prices in Australia/UK for the digital download are higher than prices in the US. The prices should be comparable to what you'd expect to pay in a high street store in the country that you're living and in the high street in Melbourne or London you'll pay more for a game than you would in New York. There's no cloaks and daggers and it's standard policy therefore doesn't need any official response from Steam. I can see how it's frustrating for people but global markets sell things at different prices and always have done... it's now just a little bit more transparent. And yes we know it's possible to regularly find cheap games on the internet but don't forget the RRP in the UK is probably £39.99 and many shops will be selling it at that price (Steam has it at £29.99 + the free Outrun game which seems to be a very decent deal in the UK right now). If you don't like the fact that the Americans are buying it cheaper than we are then that's fine order it online somewhere but it's a bit much blaming Steam for that... Nordmore
FM 2010 is also on Gamersgate.com €49.
Mercurial23
So it seems there are a few routes to go to download FM10 rather than download from Steam. I'm happy. Now I don't have to wait weeks after release for my copy to ship to me.
Arijit
Why FM2010 on Direct2Drive is restricted to Asian countries? I can't buy it through D2D? Steam doesn't put any restrictions like this!
