The challenge is to begin your career as an Under 19 manager of your choice and steer them to victory in a major international tournament before trying to earn the job with the Under-21's and ultimately the full national team. Club teams are allowed to take on aswell but with the intention to boost your reputation to get the international mangement job. To get the under 19 job simply visit their team having selected your user and click 'Take control'

when you are selecting a team to manage, go to nations, click on the nation, then on u-19s, and take control

ill probably give this a go sometime

ok, so here is my overview. I decided on Russia U19s, as i didnt particularly want to manage one of the big nations i loaded straight away (i loaded all players and top leagues from Argentina, Brazil, England, Russia and Spain).

Besides, its as close as i want to get to my save where i managed Ukraine for a while and was successful, as i dont expect much in the way of good youth to be produced over the years in non playable countries

Ok it the end of 2008 and a interesting start as England U19 manager

i took over as Mexico u-20

on picking my first team, i noticed a fair few players are over 20, not sure if that applies when i play in the u-20 world cup, which Mexico are hosts along with Panama.

anyway, looking at fixtures, it seems i have to play St.Lucia, Costa Rica and Cuba, twice over the next year. ill probably update after the 6 games are played.

Yeah U-20's is no problem as some teams have U-20's and 23's and others so yeah should be good as also U-20's world cup I believe. Great start as Mexico btw!

Well, that was a waste! I thought I'd get a nice easy friendly before the end of the year so the lads can end on a high, but they treated it as a holiday it seems, obviously forgot they were playing a match. We got some tough friendlies before the 2nd qualifying round in the Euro's, these friendlies against UAE, Finland and Germany will hopefully get the boys ready.

I've doing this with England U19 at the moment. I will do a proper update soon and does anyone know if the u-19 have a world cup? I can tell you i lost to croatia 4-2 and lost to germany 4-0. Inconsistency is rife at the moment

Has anyone done a database for FM09 of the number of staff for each nation? This was done for FM07 and maybe 08.

I started last night with England U19's will update with the first couple games when i have a minute.

Update 1 (Friendlys).

I was able to use players over 19 for the Friendlys i decided to use any player 21 or under that wasn't being used by the U21's.

Away vs Andorra.

We have been drawn in a group with Romania, Estonia and Azerbaijan for the first qualifying stage for the Euro's.

Update 2 - Euro Qualifying First stage.

vs Azerbaijan.

So 5 games and 5 wins very happy with the start we have another 2 Friendly lined up before Qualifying for the U19s Euro's continues in February we play Switzerland and in March we take on Ukraine. Then comes the next phase of qualifying, our group also includes Austria, Sweden and Finland.

Drawn in a group with Serbia, Azerbijan and Albania we fancied our chances.

Albania 0-1 England. Close game closer than i expected but Dan Gosling scored on 59 mins to see us home with 3 points.

Azerbijan 0-4 England. Should have been more but two Rhys Murphy Pens and a brace from Welbeck saw us qualify.

Serbia 3-1 England. Embarrassing just embarrassing. :o

We will go through to the second stage now looking to do better than last year.

A strong win to start the group stages, although i didnt go top thanks to Romania's 9-2 demolition of Andorra.
