Told you you'd regret picking Gabriel ;)

Another game with him stinking the place out, finally punished for it.

Firmino played a full half yesterday and was pretty useless.

What are the reactions among the Brazilians? I'm sure many will be disappointed but losing against this Belgium side isn't anything embarrassing to be honest. And will Tite stay or is it likely he will get fired?

People are disappointed, but the 2014 defeat was far more shocking, this one was accepted more easily. Many blaming Fernandinho though.

Tite hasn't decided yet if he will stay.

Brazil are basically becoming old England, a quarterfinals team:

2006 - quarterfinals
2010 - quarterfinals
2014 (hosts) - semifinals
2018 - quarterfinals

In 52 years you can claim it's come home again when you win your record-tying 6th title  (tying with England of course).

Not impressed with Tite's squad management, surely you have more than 11 players good enough to play a game or two? Seems only injury and suspensions make him change.

Rotation is not a popular concept in Brazil, Dunga and Scolari also barely changed their teams and at club level this is rare too.

There you go. In fairness most nations seem to prefer not to change much, at least in the knockouts.

The Brazilian national team might look more or less like this in the 2022 World Cup, according to Sportv journalists:

Interesting. That's always so difficult to predict. Some players will stagnate in their development and their will be always the unexpected rise of one or several youngsters or even older players who needed a bit more time. Who would have thought four years ago that someone like Gabriel Jesus would be where he is now? Same thing with Alisson, Ederson, Casemiro or even Firmino who was at that time nothing more than a decent midfielder for Hoffenheim.

Besides that, Arana almost never played since his transfer to Sevilla. Jorge (from Monaco) would be a more logical choice as things stand now imo :)

Yes and they forgot Alex Sandro too. If half of the team is right, they can celebrate.

That Arana better be instantly likeable, cavalier and bomb forward at every opportunity.

After Marcelo and Roberto Carlos, he's got some tradition to follow in that position!

Marcelo is going to be, what, 34, 35 in 2022.?

Yes, but the other left backs aren't rated that high, although I would expect Alex Sandro or Arana to be the starter by then.

This is how Brazil should look like in 2022 according to people voting on the Globo Esporte site:

campinho-1-.png

This is their full squad:

Laterais-esquerdos: Marcelo (Real Madrid) e Alex Sandro (Juventus)

Laterais-direitos: Danilo (Manchester City) e Éder Militão (São Paulo)

Zagueiros: Marquinhos (PSG); Jemerson (Monaco); Rodrigo Caio (São Paulo) e Lucas Veríssimo (Santos)

Volantes: Casemiro (Real Madrid); Fabinho (Monaco); Gustavo Blanco (Atlético Mineiro) e Walace (Hannover 96)

Meias: Philippe Coutinho (Barcelona); Arthur (Barcelona); Lucas Paquetá (Flamengo) e Rafinha (Barcelona)

No Firmino in the squad chosen by Brazilians on that site. :)
