FM13: Borussia Dortmund - Echte Liebe.

Recommended Posts

Well i nearly got him for £13.5million in the summer but couldn't complete the deal due to a lack of funds. By January he was listed by request and we managed to strike a deal.

Was going to see how he goes on upfront in all honesty. Already got a few quality young players for the AMC slot and I don't want to hamper their growth by not playing them.

Time for a 3rd season review

No three-peat for you Barca!

I like the difference Ter Stegen made in the goals conceded and less draws

6IAjIoz.png

Hummels, Reus and Ter Stegen the standout stars in my opinion. Adam Krzak was increasingly impressive in his appearances and even played 65 minutes of a CL Final at 17 and acquitted himself just fine, a future superstar there

Now let's see how our title defences go with the additions of Jack Wilshere, Kurt Zouma and Seydou Doumbia already arranged.

What a decent team you have been putting together

Mkhitaryan was also at PSG on my save and was yo-yoing between PSG and the reserves. They signed him for 13.75M and sold him to PSV for 9M in 2014-15 season. I came close to signing him but was against it in the end.

Got drawn against Olympiakos in Europa League first knockout round. Also noticed Barcelona got Arsenal in Europa League :D

Winner of our tie will face OM or CSKA Moscow.

Played a few games of the 2015/16 season, winning them all. The best was an end to end game against Bayern. We beat them 3-1.

Already given my 17 year olds game time, and Lepper is getting even better. The fact I have Lepper, Lars Bender and Sven Bender is just scary. Won't play all together, but my midfield is so strong with Gündogan, Leitner and my other 3 impressive 17 yr old CMs.

My 19 year old newgen keeper got his first cap for Argentina. Currently getting tutored by Ter Stegen and his attributes are shooting up. He'll be home grown so will stay around for a while, until a top German one spawns, but tbh Ter Stegen will be here until he retires.

Bender and Gündogan are amazing tutors. The players they have tutored have had crazily good increases, to the point they go from hot prospects to backup even rotation type players.

Piszczek is 30 now (oldest player at the club), and with Corchia not being German or HG, I'm hoping I'll find a newgen RB soon. That position may have to be my exception to the rule for a while. Unless I retrain one of my 5 star PA LBs to be a RB. Not sure how that would play out. Both are Left footers, good with right, but not their strong foot.

Transfers news

I'm currently in talks with Bale whose contract expiring at the end of the season, I think he'd be a BIG coup for us if he joins us, but Barcelona also joined the race for him.

Reus's contract is expiring in 18 months time according to my assistant, And he wants 175K p/w  What shall I do? give in his demand or sell him?

It's a ridiculous amount. Depends what you do with wages, personally it wouldn't come within my own personal structure and I'd just let him go.

Link to post

Going back for Lima from Benfica B for Reus's replacement IF I can get Reus to reduce his asking for his wage.

EDIT: I went into contract talks and his agent said his player doesn't want to talk to me :(

Reus wanted €145k last time I checked on mine. Tbh, he's good but by the time his deal actually ends I probably won't need him.

As mentioned before Bale got listed by request on mine and as his contract is running out he's declared to leave on a free. I'm pretty tempted as I haven't been impressed with Schürrle in his limited appeances. But, it would go against my no British players rule. I might offer a deal and see who else does, might not choose me like in John1's case.

Some quality players have their deals expiring this season so hopefully I can grab a few 'marquee' ones. In need of a proper winger as my newgens are a little off being first team regulars yet.

Half Season Update

Bundesliga

Well below par and off the pace, wouldn't blame the board if they sacked me tbh. Most disappointing are the abundance of draws and the tonking we took off Bayern!

DFB Pokal

jv6q08.png

Fuming at letting a 2 goal lead slip away and not being able to defend our title. I'm not the only top side to get thrown out the cup on my arse by inferior opposition (Bayern and Stuttgart went in the first round, Schalke, Leverkusen and Werder went in the second round)

Champions League

sbou1f.png

ctgl3.png

So so damned lucky to have made it through. With 5 games played we were level on points with bloody Liverpool. Really pissed off with the amount of goals we conceded.

I seem to be struggling against the teams around the same stature as us, I honestly think its down to Roman in goal, been my worst performer by a mile. Certainly going to bring in Ter Stegen in January. Might also go a bit more defensive when I face the big teams (such as Juve in the next Champions League round) and hit them on the counter attack.

I've just realised something ridiculous. I've been at Dortmund exactly 4 years, and in that time I've only lost once in the Bundesliga at home, and only dropped 13 points at home in the league. That is insane. Our only home defeat, a 1-0 loss to Wolfsburg in which we missed a penalty, occurred over two years ago. Really hope I can keep that up!

I'm 10 games into the season (17-18), and have pulled 2 points clear of Bayern at the top of the Bundesliga. After racking up 15 goals in the first three league games, we have calmed down a little on that front, actually winning 1-0 in 3 of our 9 league victories so far this campaign. Considering the amount of game time the youngsters are getting, I'm really pleased with how we have started the season domestically.

In the Champions League we are making hard work of it however. An opening 1-1 draw with PSG was followed up by the same scoreline against Olympiakos, before a 4-1 thumping of Rapid Wien, leaving us second in the group so far, 2 points behind shock group leaders Olympiakos!

I've been impressed with the contributions of Eggert and Lazarou, who have contributed 6 goals and 6 assists between them in 15 appearances (6 for Eggert, 9 for Lazarou). Rode has settled in well in the middle of the park, and Plattenhardt has seen far more action than originally planned due to Schmelzer picking up an injury which he is only just returning from. Reus has joined him on the injury table, but Vukasinovic hasn't really grabbed his chance yet in the same way as the others. At the back, the centre backs are all performing outstandingly well, making it a difficult decision on who to partner Hummels with.

However, Brendel has been the stand out performer. 13 goals in 10 starts, and making me realise that not using De Jong was the right decision. I think the Dutchman's time at the club will shortly be coming to an end, which is a massive shame, but needs must, and he's not home-grown.

Batty1: Do you switch to a different formation/instructions when against better or similar opponent to you?

Your loses are when you play away from home, meaning you might keep the 4-2-3-1 formation and not adapt?

I use a 4-3-3 (one cm is a DM) when playing away, and a modified 4-4-2 at home. My 4-2-3-1 rarely gets used as I haven't got it nailed done yet. As it produces tonnes of chances, but few on target. Gets really crowded outside the box.

Número: that's a crazy home record! Good to hear your newgens are stepping up. Should post screenies at end of season review.

Link to post

Ryknow - I pressume that'll be with two CM's? If so, that'll be why it's so crowded - they're naturally higher up than those in the DM line, meaning when you attack you'll have six players in and around the box. And that's without counting R/LB supporting attacking play.

Nah with DMs. Was with CMs as I tried to replicate my FM12 BVB formation, but the match engine has changed a bit since then.

I find the midfield get the ball but don't know who to pass to as the striker and AMC have pushed too forward, as with the wide men. I'll keep working on it, but atm I prefer using my other tactics.

Phoenixemperor: Thanks for posting a pic. He looks great, but might suffer from the Bender twins from getting a call up. I'm expecting a call up soon for Lepper, but there's a bit of competition in the German midfield.

What role/duty have your three AM's and STC got in your 4-2-3-1?

What role/duty have your three AM's and STC got in your 4-2-3-1?

Varied. Currently:

Striker: Advanced forward - Attack (Prob better as a DLF attack)

AMC - Attacking midfielder - Support

AML - Inside forward - Attack

AMR - Inside forward/Winger - Support.

What I want is what I had in FM12. The main striker holds up the ball and plays through balls between the DC and fullback for on rushing inside forwards. The AMC is the hardest to decide on. Prefer him to hover around and be general attacking support, whereas the DMs are behind him for another option.

I'm finding the inside forwards just stay wide and rarely make good runs. On etching that annoys me is an inside forward gets the ball in a wide position, then runs all the way into the box, then realises there is no option, turns and passes to the fullback on the wing. It's like it gets too congested.

I played a game against Wolfsburg just then and had to revert to my 4-4-2 to get the win.

Pointless looking back to FM12, the ME is very different now, as I'm sure you're aware.

The glaring thing for me is what you say you want your AMC to do and the role you have given him in this example. The best role for what you want would probably be AP-Support.

Also if you are going to have an IF & Winger, then I'd always recommend giving the Winger the "Attack" duty so he will stay wide and put crosses in. At the minute you probably have too many players coming into similar space, which limits your attacking avenues.

Yeah, I'll work on it later. Atm though we have 8 wins from 8 games in the league with only 2 conceded. I need a quality right winger to further develop my 4-2-3-1 the way I want it. My newgen I have atm is simply not quick enough for my play.

Obviously this isn't with Dortmund but it's basically the same tactic, ported from my Dortmund team. As you can see it gets decent scoring returns from the centre forward and left inside forward and most of the assists come from the right winger.

Tactic currently in use.

"Best eleven" last season, I personally prefer Gabbiadini as he brings more to the table, straq was played as a Target man support tho.

Screenie of Weiss just to show how many assists he's credited with last season.

Obviously you can imagine the results the superior players from Dortmund would bring, Pescara won Seria A and got knocked out by Bayern 2-1 on aggregate in the semi finals of the Champions league season 2.

Hope that's of some help with your front 4 dilemma.

Thanks tomtuck and Safce for your help. Safce do you alter any individual instructions? Or leave them all default? I might try yours with tomtucks idea of using an advanced play maker in the AMC role.

I normally untick the playmaker in team instructions though, does anyone else?

EDIT: Love wee Weiss, being a Rangers fan and all. You certainly got the best out of him.

I do believe they have got altered player instructions, mainly ones to do with strengths and weaknesses. I.e. if players are poor at long shots I'm not going to have them on any form of long shots as i feel it limits the play even if they are amazing at them. Poor dribbling and i'll try and limit their runs with ball. That sort of thing.

Regards to Weiss, he was the second reason I wanted a Pescara save, first being Capari, oh how i love developing this lad.

No, I needed a keeper (lost faith in Roman) only had £6M left for transfers but had a decent whack in the balance so asked the board to purchase Leno for me. He was transfer listed at that price by Leverkusen.

Link to post

I think my board may just have overpaid for Bernd Leno. He cost £19.75M but he is now the best keeper at the club. Wanted Ter Stegen but he was going to cost a load more.

It is overpaying but he turns into a great keeper. Not quite ter Stegen level, but not far off. Did you ask them to do the deal?

I'm damn lucky I got ter Stegen for €16mil.

EDIT: Does that mean they dealt with the contract?

God damn it, I forgot the contract dealing would be left in their incapable hands. Hes on £56K a week, with £17K per clean sheet (ffs), £5.75K a game, £225K Toty bonus. Not keen on his bonuses at all

That's fine mate, it's the yearly wage rise you want to avoid. Don't want them giving him a 25% wage increase per year for instance.

I have Ter Stegen on €80,000pw, €24,000 clean sheet, €8,000 app, €325,000k toty bonus.

He's amazing, so I'm fine with paying that. Last season he had 28 clean sheets in 48 games (all comps), conceding 29. So that's 28 x €24,000 = €672,000. Isn't that bad considering you get €500k for a draw, €1mil for win in the group stage of the UCL. He has one game in the group stage that keeps us from losing, then he's paid his bonus. Simplistic way of looking at it, but it's wages that BVB can handle.

Toty usually goes to the guy in a team that are under the pressure all the time, and the figure we both have isn't that great.

He's on large wages at Real Madrid so will ask for around €100k, however in 13.3 despite numerous attempts I couldn't even talk to him. As I said earlier in the thread it needs addressing as he's around 99% going to sign for BVB permanently IRL, especially if Gündogan doesn't sign his deal. He's said he feels at home in Dortmund and only wants to play here, so hopefully in FM14 he'll be approachable and ask for around €80k instead.

I hate FM at times. Tested the water too see what Barca want for Thiago, and can have him for £22million, but can't complete the deal as the board don't take into account the £32million I'm getting from Goetze at the end of the season. :(

I didn't want to say, but had a slight feeling this would happen. I think I did an arranged transfer a few FMs ago and it didn't register in the budget. Thought it would have changed. However, your balance should increase so they may make funds available later on.

Oh definitely so, I expect the money to be available when the deal goes through. It would have just been helpful to have it sooner!

January 2016 still unbeaten in the league, going well. Lukaku has 22 goals in 18 games (all comps), Volland with 21 goals in 22(5) games (all comps).

Bosmans arranged:

Shinji Kagawa

Neal Maupay

Darijo Srna

Offered Bale a deal to see what he'd do, but he chose Valencia over Bayern, Barca, BVB and Real Madrid. Why you ask? Valencia got taken over by a Tycoon only a few months ago. They bought Bernard €34mil, Chadli €13.75mil and Vila Didac €4.1mil in the January window. Looking forward to selling players to them for stupid prices.

Got a bid of €40mil from PSG, all up front for Leitner. I asked for €60mil, they withdrew. He's hardly getting game time with my newgens pushing him for the spot. I'll post their screenies soon. Looking fantastic; I have around 8 'Wonderkids' at the club.
