Minez01
The i7-2720QM should be able to run FM11 with onboard graphics. That laptop could probably run 50+ leagues...16 GB of RAM (I didn't know you could even fit that on a laptop) and that video card is overkill - doesn't it match the Radeon 6970M? It's overkill for a lot of gaming laptops. Excellent. That's what I like to hear. I know the laptop is pretty powerful, but like I said I haven't been keeping up with FM in the last couple of years. Regarding the ram/video card - I got them on a sweet deal, I do a fair amount of gaming etc, but I like to do other stuff like 3D modelling etc that might be graphics intensive. Plus, by making the extra investment now (which was rather cheap) I like to know it will last or a good couple of years without replacing parts etc. And yes, I like to think it can top the 6970
crouchaldinho
I tried Minecraft on a friend's HP laptop with Intel HD3000 and it runs fine Maxxed out. It was using a lot more of the CPU & RAM (i7 2630QM & 4GB) than the GPU.Also 4GB RAM should be enough for now. Corsair is better and cheaper anyway (2x4GB for 30 bucks). http://www.amazon.co.uk/CORSAIR-Memory-DDR3-1600-Performance-CMZ4GX3M1A1600C9/dp/B004FMCJQM With 4GB RAM and onboard, it comes out to be 622. And I can see a lot of Ati cards there . HD5670/HD6570 is overkill anyway. You don't need better than that. 670 with this. Think I'm getting closer to knowing what I want now. How about the PSU? You mentioned getting something better? 450W maybe? Maybe a better hard drive too? I think perhaps something that would perform better?

Maybe a better hard drive too? I think perhaps something that would perform better? 450W is good. There are a few HDs mentioned there, HD - Generic. WD Green - Slightly slower but also quiet and cooler. WD Black - Opposite of WD Green. Much more expensive though. Rest - SSDs. Expensive.
crouchaldinho
Thanks for all of your Ishu. I think I'm pretty settled on the spec now and have taken on board all of your advice. I think I may buy slightly less RAM and settle for less hard disc space to save on the cost for now. I can always upgrade these in the future when more money is available (i.e. buy more RAM and get a second HDD)! Spec I'm thinking of: Intel Core i5-2400 Quad Core (3.10GHz, 6MB Cache + HD Graphics) Asus P8Z68-V:USB 3.0, SATA 6.0GB/s, NVDIA SLI, ATICrossFireX 4GB Samsung DDR3 Dual-DDR3 1333MHz (2x4GB) 1GB AMD Radeon HD5670 500GB WD Caviar Black WD5002AALX, SATA 6 GB/s, 32MB Cache, 24 x Dual Layer DVD Writer Internal 52 in 1 Card Reader 450W Dual Rail PSU + 120mm Case Fan Intel Socket LGA1155/1156 Standard CPU Cooler Onboard 6 Channel (5.1) High Def Audio (as standard) Onboard Gigabit LAN & Wireless 802.11N 300Mbsp PCI Card 6 x USB 2.0 standard Windows 7 HP 64bit How's that looking now? Will buy monitor and keyboard/mouse separately to get the best cheap deal I can on them.

But as you aren't going with the 2500k, you don't need to get the Z68. A H67 or even a H61 would be enough.

I thought I was getting the Z68 for integrated graphics? By H67, you mean the ASUS® P8P67? Or am I getting confused? On the list of motherboards, I only have a few choices coming up, and the P8P67 and Z68 are the two main ones I have to pick between. I think the P8P67 doesn't have the integrated graphics. santa
Hi guys,I used to play FM back in 06/07/08/09 but circumstances changed and I went off for a couple of years. Anyway looking to get back into it for FM12 this year, and just bought a new laptop (unrelated to FM...) for gaming and artistic stuff. I assume that it would be powerful enough to run a fair amount of leagues etc, but does anyone know what the required specs are to run like 20+? My laptop: I7 2720QM @2.2GHz, 16GB 1666mhz, GTX485m 2GB, 500GB Seagate Momentus Hybrid HD. Thanks for any help! Looking forward to jumping back into the game. EDIT: With regard to some of the posts above, I thought I might mention that I want the game to run pretty smoothly - I'm not interested in running a million leagues to have it lag constantly. I know when it was first released the 3D engine was quite demanding on the system... I have a laptop with the i7 2630QM, 8GB 1333mhz and GT550M 2GB. With this I run close to 60 leagues (not all are playable), so you should have no problems with your laptop. And I even use the onboard CPU graphics (HD3000) as FM11 crashes during the 3d matches, if I use the GT550M card.

Kenzie
Considering buying this: http://h40059.www4.hp.com/uk/homelaptops/pdf/g6-1155sa_ds_ene.pdf I can get it for around £460; is this good value and a good laptop? I’ve been happy with my current HP laptop. Standard question: how many leagues? Its main purposes would be for using Microsoft Office and good speed internet (for university work), along with Football Manager (I’m not interested in playing matches in 3D, if that makes a difference). I would also like to be able to play videos to a decent quality, but this is not a vital requirement. I would be looking to store photos and music on my current laptop. I see that Ishu has recommended Cosair laptop memory on several occasions on this thread; will I be able to do this if I desire it? Computers/laptops aren’t my strong point, although I’ve tried to take onboard previous advice in this thread and from more ‘in the know’ friends to select this laptop, any advice or recommendations from others would be much appreciated.
