  1. Sometimes an option presents itself to you The Dutch province will see some change. This was already in my planned Historical Divergence for Frisia, but instead the Deltaworks created after the Storm of 1953, this ups the ante. The graphic btw is how Dutch engineers were brainstorming for how to protect the Dutch coast while allowing the rivers to still flow into sea. If the sea level is higher, the water will be blown into the sea.
  2. For the time being a slight change of plans since my brain has decided to go on strike because of a pneumonia (it's connected ) I will continue with data for the time being so I can prepare everything and then have one big long list of competitions edits on my plate. Despite a rough week last week, I managed to check 30% of my list of teams that are extinct or have too many players. There is a list of about 180 teams now that need attention, but considering it is about 30% of teams done that list will grow. On the other hand, it started at 75000 and with 48000 left, progress is OK there. And yes, this goes a lot quicker than you might expect. Besides that it is March, so it's now time for Romania. Depending on my physique I will finish that next week (I hope). After that it is much smaller work on Poland, and the big jobs on Yugoslavia, Soviet Union and West Germany. I am dreading Yugoslavia and Soviet Union as first thing that needs to be done is to check whether the same issue arises as with Czechoslovakia. Considering how I work and how my brains works (data-editing is relaxing rather than an effort), this might actually speed things up and depending on how the progress on Hungary, Bulgaria, Albania and East Germany is, I can even share files with Reiver who could then pick them up and finish. Anyway, we will see. Testing is progressing and I don't need any heating currently
  3. Valid questions. I can only speak for my own research and I will only put in verified information, which in my case usually means verified by the club, but you are right, there is data that can be considered objective which is on various occasions wrong. I can only speak for my own head researcher and not for any other head researcher, except what I have seen in the editor and the respons to data issues being brought forward. I don’t think there are much long term tests being run except for those of Dave, and if they are done, they are likely to be done in isolation for their own nation and not so much creating the worldwide landscape that Dave checks. I guess you already see where things can go wrong there. And politics in FM? Nah
  4. After having to update my Czechoslovakia file twice for the Czech, Slovak, Czechoslovak Cups and Czechoslovak First Division I very much more appreciate the amount of work you put in these files. It's tedious work.
  5. Try adding the Essex Senior Cup as a secondary competition to all teams involved. That way you can pick the cup as competition and the teams are automatically added.
  6. Most of it is not so much the developers and SI people, but rather head researchers. The issue with much of the data is that setting it is usually rather subjective. I am an assistent researcher for a Dutch football club and I prefer to do the objective data since I can say for sure what someone's birthdate, contract period and such is, while setting the stamina, technique or work rate is much more subjective. To confirm subjective data you need a massive test to check whether the data is right or wrong. Dave does exactly that which makes his work so good (and interesting to study as a world building editor). I don't know how much the researchers test and how they test, so can't say why they don't come to the same result as Dave.
  7. We need to get and pay @Daveincidto create a new world order based on our requirements
  8. I checked those names, but it seems they all played outside the Soviet Union after they turned 30, which is the age that was mentioned by Oleksiy Mykhaylychenko. Hatzipanagis is an exception obviously since he was Greek by birth. Funnily enough, if you look at Georgia, you would find players with Greek descent in that area as well, but Hatzipanagis is not related to those.
  9. Correct, players are allowed to be transferred out of the country. I have a book about the European Championship 1988 where one of the Soviet players is quoted about the rules leaving the country.
  10. This has nothing to do with the display list I think. Check the division level for the Premier League please.
  11. No spoilers, but historically you will notice that Novgorod was a wee bit earlier than 1800. Siberia, who knows
  12. You can’t change it in your save. It sounds like this has been build in the editor file. It depends on the file if it can be changed (probably can be done).
  13. Some testing notes in the meantime, I am slowly building up the files by each testrun adding a nation. So starting with Albania, next is Albania-Andorra, next is Albania-Andorra-Austria and on and on. The advantage is that if you start seeing unexpected things, you can always check back the previously save file. I am also only testing for 15 years now, because it is strictly competition testing. When the various international competition come into play I will do longer (say 30-40 years) of runs and see how things fare.
  14. I think the file contains entries for both long and short name, so yes, should work.
  15. While writing the story of Europe, it is currently, Bonaparte, Napoleon Bonaparte, all around the clock. I am looking to do division of about 5-10 years (depending on precise historical happenings. So the first parts should be mostly about the Napoleonic Wars in Europe and the Congress of Vienna with a big role for Klemens Wenzel Nepomuk Lothar, Prince of Metternich-Winneburg zu Beilstein.
  16. If you hear something whirring in the background, it is Czechoslovakia that's being tested. Or you are advised to have your ears checked. It took a little longer than hoped, because my concentration was pretty much running around the room, but I managed to pick out a few teams that I placed in the wrong area (apologies to Ruzomberok fans) and added an extra rule to make sure the lower levels wouldn't end up one big reserve team fest at one moment. The positive points is that it is done, but I am dreading Yugoslavia and the Soviet Union. At least I managed to get a good way of working down to be able to go through it quicker and for Yugoslavia I am close to the point where things would go wrong, so it is a lot less rework. Next week will almost be a sort of restweek, with little editime on monday, tuesday I am first in the office (always physically tiring) and in the evening I am watching Dune 1 and 2 in succession (five hours of IMAX!), wednesday should see me resting as the movie takes until 2:30 and I won't be in bed until 3:00. On a office day that is a tough thing. After the planned rest day, which could see some data editing as a relaxation tool, Thursday is planned for eating out, so I won't have any real planned edit time until Friday again. The weekend isn't much better with the Sunday lost. But at least, first order is to get all Romania data back in shape which is easier to slip in for some free hours than redoing a competition, You just need to keep your wits when digging around in advanced rules.
  17. When you create a player there is no need to verify rules. You have a data file, which can exist without any nation rules. Can you upload your file?
  18. One thing of note is that in almost 100 years of Czechoslovak competition only 4 times there was NO team from Prague in the top 4.
  19. I love working out the history for nations, I hate adding it to the editor file
  20. If you use a setup date for the competition which is a few days later than the final qualification day, you should be able to use ignore teams qualified for competition. Haven't used it myself, but it sounds like the most logical option to use.
  21. First tip I give to every editor, start small, make sure you understand the editor on a basic level and then make your project bigger. My projects are world wide, but I didn't start big in FM20. I started exploring the editor in FM10.
  22. Only if they contain different teams.
  23. Yep, good advice. Study other files if you need a place to start. Also, if you are completely new at it. Start with basic rules to see how things are set up. Advanced rules are much harder to navigate, so basic rules will teach you what to do and not do. Added remark, even experienced editors do use basic rules to set their starting competition, so there is absolutely no reason not to use it.
