  1. Is anyone finding player's moaning all the time about training because it is a part time schedule? Struggling early in my save with this, is it a case of just doing general overall training along with physical training every week?
  2. Giving this a go then, although don't think I'll be able to manage all the fancy updates like many manage. Trying to complete the challenge in Scotland and the team to go up was the might Blue Brazil.
  3. People getting annoyed because the goals per game is slightly higher in FM than IRL then proceed to moan that players are unhappy about something you've said/done in game is a bit of a contradiction? Surely you want it fully realistic or you don't
  4. How does everyone keep track of everything for this? I was thinking of starting a save and wondering the best way to go about keeping records of it all.
  5. Thanks, will have a look. Might even join in the challenge!
  6. I must be one of the few that is very much enjoying FM24 so far. Or is it just the case that the noisy minority are in this thread complaining about various aspects. While some are genuine complaints (the J-League licensing) there are many that seem very unfair.
  7. Following on from a Twitter (X) post from VFTT it got me wondering how people nurture youngsters through their youth academy and how they develop players. What is their overall strategy? The View From the Touchline posted mentioned how they spend hours adding player notes and setting reminders to change training schedules for focusing on player development. It made me think that I spend nowhere near enough time in doing things like this. If you have a promising 16 year-old that has came through the academy do you take control of their individual training? Let them train with the senior time while making them available for the U18's. When do you send them out on loan/if at all? Do you specifically set their individual training to a role you think they will play when they are older, or do you focus on weak areas to make them more rounded and assume their already decent attributes will continue to improve? At what stage would you start giving them senior football etc etc.. Probably so many questions and a variety of different ways to do things, but what scenarios have you found garner the best results? I personally just leave them in the U18's for a season or two to develop with little to no input from myself (which I probably know isn't the optimum way to do things). I may look to send them out on loan at 18 to a team that has good facilities and stipulate that they need to be a first team regular. If they have very high star rating potential I might slowly blood them into my senior team at 17ish, playing the odd game off the bench and some cup games. I will also have these players train with the first team, and include them in a mentoring group and generally assign individual training to a role that would be in my tactic and have earmarked that spot for them going forward. Am I doing it all wrong? Would be good to hear a wide range of opinions on how others do things, and what kind of results they bring.
  8. I had a pretty decent season to say the least in the league, only loss all season came away to Arsenal.
  9. It seems loaning them out does more for them, as again he has developed better than mine. Although mine did get an injury for a few months which set him back.
  10. How has Mainoo developed for you mate? Not been playing as much as I'd have liked recently but still undefeated in my 3rd season with only one draw in the league and I'm nearing the end of December!
  11. Yes, he has definitely developed better in yours. Although he has had fairly regular game time for me, has featured in nearly every PL match each season (mostly from the bench as an impact sub) and quite a few starts in cups and European competitions. Conceded one now, Wolves scored a consolation to make it 5-1! I think he cost just over £90mil in the Jan window of the first season but he has been worth it. An absolute goal machine, outscoring Haaland. Sold Shaw for £50mil or thereabouts and a few others. Thuram is an absolute monster so far though and seems perfect for the SV role.
  12. Have also included my results so far in season 3 after winning the league season 2. Have changed my tactics and have won every league game so far without conceding a goal! Have played City and Pool away while also having to face Chelsea and Arsenal at home already.
  13. Thanks, will compare him to mine and see if there is much difference.
  14. Could you please post a screenshot of how Garnacho has developed for you? I have kept him each season and have been giving him a decent amount of matches. He's actually played well for the majority but his development hasn't been great!
  15. Either I am seeing different things, or I am just oblivious or people just like a good moan because they've lost/they're old tactic no longer works but I am really enjoying the ME after the update.
  16. This is a good point and Rashfords goal return wasn't as good as I was hoping last season so I think I will definitely remove this one. My AMR seemed to perform well along with the RB so probably sensible to leave that for now. Bruno performed great last season but think it might be an idea for the away tactic to have him on support, will give that a try. Thanks, definitely food for thought and will give it a go.
  17. Thanks for the feedback, and the fast paced attacking style is what I am trying to achieve. The purpose of the underlap and overlap was trying to ensure that my LB provided the width down the left while my RW was the one stretching the pitch on the right. Also with underlap for the left to provide more cover for the SV on A duty. I have PI's of sit narrower and cut inside with ball. Would there be any instructions I've used that you would say contradict what I am trying to achieve?
  18. Although having played FM since the CM days I would describe myself as a tactical novice and not fully understanding exactly all the different roles and tactical instructions and how they all interact. Through reading this section of the forum it has helped me better understand how everything work together. I've attached below my current formation when playing at home (and away against the 'easier' sides) with my Man Utd save just starting the 2nd season. First season I finished 3rd on 82 points behind strong City and Liverpool sides. I've tweaked a few things and made some big signings to help push me on to the title in season 3. Man Utd have never historically been a possession based club and the idea behind this tactic was to try and implement a more high intensity and fast attacking play. I am still expecting to dominate possession against the weaker teams but would probably expect to have under 50% against the stronger teams in the league. I am looking to try and make the pitch nice and wide in attack which will hopefully open gaps through the middle for my central players to take advantage. I am looking to provide the width on the left from my WB which will free up space for Rashford to be one of my main scorers. I had thought about an IW for the right hand side but Antony seemed to really flourish as a winger even though it may not suit him being a left footed player he contributed 7 goals and 16 assists from 28 starts and 14 sub appearances so I have kept him as a winger for now. I went with the SV on A duty as I really want them to providing plenty goals and assists during the year and both Sabitzer and Eriksen popped up with a decent amount last season so hoping Bellingham can take it to another level. I wanted to be aggressive in the press and hence I opted for a BWM alongside the SV. While this can leave me exposed defensively I thought it was a risk worth taking against the weaker teams. Away from home I change the roles to HB and SV on S duty for a bit more stability. I have a much higher defensive line matched with a mid-block to really try and force a turnover in this area of the pitch which allows my pacey players further forward to exploit any gaps that may be left. I had contemplated a high block but thought this wouldn't suit players such as Rashford and Osimhen who are my main attaching threats. It would be good to have some feedback from some of the more tactically able and some pointers in where I may be going right, or more likely, where I am going wrong. Below is a screenshot of the formation away form home against some of the stronger teams.
  19. Maybe a bit late to this but I currently use a BWM (D) and SV (A) in my double pivot for my 4-2-3-1 formation for Man Utd. Play a mid block, ultra high line with push up for defenders for a very aggressive press. Hoping to win it but leave enough room for players like Rashford, Antony, Sancho and now Osimhen to attack. Second half if I have a lead I have a pretty similar variant with the only things I really change is the BWM to an Anchor and the SV from (A) to (S).While changing to just a high line and removing the step up option. I tend to use this away from home against the better teams as well and it seems to be working pretty well so far.
  20. Is anyone 4 or 5 seasons into a save with the new update and can provide a screenshot of Goncalo Ramos? Signed him in my new Man Utd save and seems a bit of a beast since the update.
  21. Yeah, that is what I thought but do they still become familiar even if you weren't training them in the role you were playing for the formation?
  22. For a player to gain role familiarity, do you need to have their individual training on that role? Then if you were to change this, do they start to lose that familiarity even though it is a role within a tactic that you are training?
  23. Thanks for that, so really if a formation becomes less effective over time it can be one of a few things: 1. A formation you tend to struggle against becoming more prominent in the league. 2. Players you've bought/sold are not as effective for the formation and tactics you are using. 3. Original formation had some major deficiencies in the first place that you were maybe getting 'away' with at the start. 4. The formation/tactic still being effective but in-game/pre match decisions are poor.
  24. Great post and while I can understand everything you detail and explain, transferring this knowledge and theory into my own style and formation isn’t quite as easy. I really need to get round tk reading some of the great guides available for tactics, roles and instructions. One thing to add, I know you do some fairly minor changes, but over a period of time does the AI cotton on to how you play and major changes ever have to be made? I’ve always noticed formations and styles I’ve used have to be changed quite dramatically as they seem to be less effective over time.
